Installed flash player not recognized

I have been trying to edit files that are in Flash format (.flv) but am constantly being prompted to install the Flash player before continuing. I had the Adobe Flash Player already on my computer but decided to uninstall it and then reinstall the free download from the Adobe website. It downloaded successfully however I am still getting error messages that Flash is not installed. Repeated efforts at rebooting my comuter also did not help. How can I remedy this problem?

Are you using Flash Professional to edit the FLVs?

  • Resolve installed Flash player not excuted for all the Vista users on my PC?

    I have a Windows Vista 32-bits system.
I have created 2 admin and 2 standard users.
Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) 32 bit is installed but also Chrome and Firfox are used.
For 1 admin user Flash works fine when accessing a site in IE9 that requires Flash.
For the other users, including the admin user, IE9 must be run "as adminstrator" by specifically choosing that option.
If not run "as administrator" IE9 states that Flash needs to be installed. That either leeds to Flash player not being installed (error is that it is already installed) or that after a succesful installation the problem simply occurs again (and again and again ...)
I want the standard users on the pc to be able to navigate to trusted sites without running IE9 in "as adminstrator" mode.
What do I need to do?
Can I set Adobe Flash player to be available for all the users for Vista and IE9?
Do I need to alter registry settings manually?
If yes - how and which?
    Thanks in advance.

    Chris,
Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it does not resolve the problem.
Other users (including the other system administrator) still need to run IE as administrator.
When in my sysadmin account the shortcuts for other users to a URL requiring Flash and using IE9 execute fine GRRRRRRR.
    This is very frustrating.
On my pc Chrome aand Modzilla have no problems.
The childrens protective software I have however is based on IE.
Do you have any more suggestions?
My alternative is to downgrade IE9 to IE8 or 7 but that is also not an easy exercise ...
Thanks in advance for any input.

  • Flash player not recognized

I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit.  Whenever I try to view something that requires flash player I get a message that Flash player is not installed, or it needs to be updated.
I've explored the flash player help site and tried everything there.  When I use the utility to check if flash player is installed, it tells me that flash  is disabled.  But if I go to Settings/Manage Add-ons/Toolbars and Extensions, it shows that Shockwave Flash Object - and all other Adobe Add-ons - are enabled.  Just for the heck of it I disabled and re-enabled Shockwave Flash Object, but no change.
If I try to reinstall Flash Player, the installation stops because the installation program recognizes the most current version is installed.
What else can I do to diagnose the problem and fix it?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Flash player not recognized by foxfire

I am trying to play a Zynga game but it will not recognize my adobe flash player. It keeps asking me to update my flash player, I do and it still won't run

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
    *ActiveX version for IE only
*Plugin version for most other browsers ('''''you do not have this installed''''')
*You can download the 2 versions from the '''Download Manual installers''' link below or going to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ with IE then with one of your other browsers
'''You do not have the Plugin version of Flash Player installed for Firefox. If you did, you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version number)'' in Add-ons > Plugins.'''
When installing/updating Flash on a Windows system, you should always install/update both if you have both IE and another browser installed on your system. Download and SAVE the installer(s) to your hard drive (Desktop is a good place so that you can find it later), close your browser(s), run the installer(s) you just downloaded.

  • Flash player not recognized nor will Java.

I've gone thru the download process 3 times now, but Flash is not being recognized. Works fine thru IE 7. And on my Ameritrade account, streamer will not launch as the java program locks up. IE 7 is still my default until Safari gets this fixed and out of Beta.

The "plugin" for Java that is on the Safari plugins page is not a plugin at all, it's just a link to the Sun site to download the latest JRE (1.6u1). There does appear to be a Java plugin for Safari that is shipped in the install and is the two files JavaPlugin.jar and npJavaPlugin.dll in the directory C:\Program Files\Safari\Plugins.
This plugin appears however to do nothing. No Java sites work with Safari.

  • Flash player not recognized with Internet Explorer

I have tried everything and cannot view youtube videos with IE explorer 10 or 9.  I had IE 10 and uninstalled this update to go back to IE 9. This did not help. I am running IE 11 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Service Pack 1. When I attempt to install Flash Player, it goes through all of the steps, tells me the player is installed, and welcomes me. I cannot open the player and it does not appear in the Start Menu, Task Manager, System Tray, or anywhere else. When I try to open a file, the site tells me Flash player is not installed. I have even downloaded it to a separate folder and ran the install with IE shut down completely. And Shockwave in ENABLED but in 32 bit .I have been trying to get this to work for about 3 weeks now.  HELP!!!

Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.
If you need to open a local SWF file you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually.

  • I have installed flash player but the computer does not recognise it

I have installed flash player 11 and checked it is installed on my compuer.
But if I try to play any media it says I need to install flash player.
I went to your website at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html and got this message.
I have tried uninstalling flash player and then trying again, restarting computer etc. But the computer will not play any media in IE.
If you go to the control panel the player is installed. But thigs like iplayer do not recognise it as being installed.

The message is clear: "Flash Player is either not installed or not enabled".  Did you check if it's enabled:

  • Installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO not working properly

    Hello,
i've installed Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO.
Installation works fine, but there is no flash player available in Firefox or Internet Explorer.
    Deployed both Flash Players.
Tried to reinstall Flash Player 11.8.800.94 for Firefox, but it's still not active.
    Windows 7, 64bit
    Greetings,
    Michael

    Hello Comvel.
    RE:
    Hello,
    i haven't fixed it yet.
I've deployed the last few version of flash player without any problems.
I haven't found any new things in the admin guide.
The plugins don't show up in both browsers. I can't enable them.
On the most importent clients, i've installed flash player manually.
I know it has been a few months since your post but, I was wonderingif you were able to find a solution for this that didn't involve manual installations. I've recently deployed 11.8.800.175 and am running into the same problems. Some work stations are just fine. But others, (both windows 7 and xp, all IE8) are not working. When navigating to a site like youtube, theres a banner that says update is needed. When you go to manage add-ons there is no shock object/add on.

  • After updating, install error "Install Flash Player.exe - Entry point not found"

My current version of Flash Player is: 11.1.102.55. Then after an Update is performed and the download is downloaded, then it tries to install the download and an error message occurs. The error message says - Install Flash Player.exe - Entry point not found - then it says The procedure entry point  SetDllDirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll.
When I try to uninstall Flash Player I get the same error message above except that it says Uninstall_Flash_Player.exe instead of Install Flash Player.exe.
I'm running WIN2000, my current version of Flash Player is 11.1.102.55 and I’m running Firefox version 12.0.

I believe 10.1.102.64 was the last supported version of Flash Player for Win2k.  That being said, there have been numerous users that have been able to work around the error you are receiving.  Please see this post for details:
