  • Newbie: what software do I need to install HTML-DB on linux?

    Hi all
I'm a complete beginner in HTML-DB and I have the assignment to install HTML-DB on a server in our company.
I'd like to install it on a Fedora Core 3 RedHat Linux machine; is that ok? I tried to find the compatibility on Metalink but I was completely confused there.
So what software do I exactly need for HTML-DB? I have found the tutorials on how to prepare linux for HTML-DB, but where do I get the software from? Please post me a link to the products needed, I'd be very thankful.
Thanks very much and have a great time
    Joshua Muheim from Switzerland

well, i can see different products now on the download page. i see a standalone version of html-db. can i just download and install this one without any other oracle installation? or does this one need oracle database 10g too?
    i mean this one here:http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/oracle10g/htmldb/htmldb_1.6.0.zip
if i can not just install it like meant above, do i have to download the files of oracle db 10g...
    ship.db_Disk1.lnxx86-64.cpio.gz
    ship.db_Disk2.lnxx86-64.cpio.gz
...install it and then what other files do i have to download and install over the database?
i'm sorry for these very simple questions, but i'm not familiar to the oracle products because i'm a trainee and got the task to install html db on my own... so i'm happy if you could help me.
    have a nice week

  • Just installed HTML DB on 9i, can I just use 10G HTTP server?

I just installed html db from my 10G release 2 dvd (on a machine that only has 9.2.0.6 on it), and went thru the steps outlined on http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_use9ir2ohs.html
I installed the schema SYSAUX in an existing 9i database.
When I went to start the 9i http server it errors out and seems to not be working on this server, so rather than troubleshoot this can I not just use the 10G http server that was installed?
If so, I am a complete newbie at this so where might I find a good howto on getting started with HTML DB, I just want to play with it for now, but my eventual goal is to start migrating our MSAccess apps into Oracle and using this as a front end.
    thanks in advance!

Thanks Sergio, I think I will uninstall it and start again from the link you gave me, I am curious though, on why it has you download the htmldb and unzip/install it manually etc. when it is an option on the 10GR2 dvd shown?
If I recall correctly, the HTML DB option included the http server already, or is it just the preferred method to install the apache server standalone and HTML DB manually?

  • How to instal HTML Converter ?

Hello all, can somebody explain how to instal HTML Converter. Thank you Martin

Hmmm, I have the feeling that that .bat file is trying to run the converter with the java.exe that belongs to the JRE instead of the java.exe that belongs to the JDK.
Could you open that file in e.g. Notepad and post the contents here? I bet it's something like "java blah blah blah" or "javaw blah blah blah"... Try replacing java/javaw with the actual file name of the java.exe (or javaw.exe) that is under the bin directory of jdk (including the directory path, that is)?

  • Wdbsvr.app / Cannot install HTML DB

Where is this file located ?
I am trying to get HTML DB up and running.
Installed HTML DB and HTTP server that comes with 10g Companion CD.
    Thanks
    Ravneet

    Hello,
I think I'm having the same issues.
I installed 10.1.0.2 on my WinXP machine today, then upgraded it to 10.1.0.4. Then I installed Oracle HTTP server from the 10.1.0.2 companion cd. I think its apache 9. I then created a new database using DBCA. Now I'm going through the htmldb install instructions.
I'm told to modify this file:
    ORACLE_BASE/ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/cfg/wdbsvr.app
The directory "cfg" does not exist under modplsql.
Where have I gone wrong, and where do I go from here?

  • Installed HTML DB, how to login to HTML DB

Stupid question may be, but I am only able to see the Start and Stop HTTP Server options after successfully installing the HTML DB on the existing 10g oracle db in my PC. I am able to go to the welcome page (url given at the end of installation). Where is the login page? Am I missing something?
    I will appreciate the information.

  • Installing HTML DB on the existing AIX oracle 9.2.0.4 database

    Hi,
I am new to HTML DB and want to know how to install this on the existing oracle 9i database at AIX 4.3.3 OS. Can anyone please tell me is it possible to install on the same existing oracle home or does it have to be installed in a separate Oracle Home?? Please let me know where are the DOCS for installing on the AIX OS? Is there a step by step install guide for AIX? And a user guide?
    Thanks!

    Scott,
I tried to log in to the database using the same username/password/connect string as was in wdbsvr.app and was successful. It's not a SQL*NET issue. When I tried from the browser still get the same page not found error with no errors in the apache log that means it's connecting to the database but not finding the right page?? All this I am trying from 9i oracle home. The Apache log says:

  • Installing HTML Server and HTML DB

I am installing the HTML server and HTML db. I get to the screen to enter the HTML DB information and an failing with an error ORA-01017:Invalid username and password. I have checked my SYS password by logging into the database I am using. From the instructions I though the HTML DB Password would be created on install. I have gotten this error before when my tnsnames.ora file was not correct, but I am using it with not problems for database links.
    Does anybody have a suggestion
    Thanks

    Thanks for the response.
I have a running Oracle 10g Enterprise running in /var/oracle/product/10.1.01.E.on a test Linux system. I have started the install of the companion disk, and when the install screen comes up I enter Name=>MasterProjEntHTML (MasterProjEnt is the name of the database I am using). I enter a new directory for path ( as per the Companion CD Install Instruction that said you need to install the HTML server in a new oracle home directory), /var/oracle/product/companion_1. I then press next and wait for it to load. I select Oracle Database 10g Companion Products. I select Apache Standalone and HTML DB from the Available Products Components screen. Next comes up the Enter HTML DB Congif screen. I enter host name, port, DSN as mral.home.com ( as listed in global naming parameter and tnsnames.ora), I enter my sys password and then the HTML DB password. When I hit next, if get the following. "ERROR: SQLException occured while connecting to the database. Please check the connection details of the database you specifiec and retry. ORA_01017:Invalid username/password, logon denied"
At this point I went to my desktop and remote logged in using my user password and name. I was able to connect. Next I went back on the server and logged in as sys with the password and was able to connect. So at this stage I think my sys password is ok.
Did I misunderstand the instructions about the directory for the HMTL server?
Any help would be appreciated as I am working on my masters and this is necessary to complete the project.
    Thanks again

  • Linux Firefox install html 5 video tags only playing when Firefox run as root user?

Installed Firefox 12.0 in CentOS 5.8 as root user. Any user can open FF but when visiting pages that have html5 video content only when FF is started as root is FF able to display the video ...otherwise you get the "No video with supported format and MIME type found."
Tried installing FF12.0 in users local directory as well still no luck.

So this doesn't work for you with the video tag?

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Possible to install HTML DB for Oracle 8.1.7?

Can I use HTML DB on Oracle 8.1.7?
Any special instructions for such installation?

HTML DB is not supported on 8.1.7. It is supported on 9.2.0.3 or better. There are many dependances on 9i specific packages that would prevent it from working with 8.x.
You might want to check on the support of 8.1.7 in general, as I believe error correction support expired in Dec. 2004. If so, this could be a VERY good reason to upgrade. At this point, you could skip 9.x completely and go straight to 10.1.0.3 (or 4).

  • RoboHelp 8 for Word not installed with RoboHelp HTML?

My workplace just upgraded from RoboHelp Office 5x to RoboHelp 8. Come to find out, *all* that was installed was RoboHelp 8 HTML. The RoboHelp 8 for Word part of the application was not installed.
The department responsible for software installations says that they don't have the RoboHelp 8 Word program--that it didn't come with the RoboHelp download. They are insisting that it's not available, and will probably have to be purchased separately.
Has anyone else installed a volume license from a download?
If so, were the HTML and Word portions of the program both available?
Did both parts of the application install (HTML and Word)?
If one installer was used, was the the RoboHelp 8 for Word portion missing? (I.e., is this a bug?) Or did you get the whole thing?
If more than one installer was used, were the components downloaded in separate installation files? (Could someone have missed an installation file, in other words?)
FYI, please, I don't need all the advantages and reasons why I should use HTML Help or WebHelp instead. I work for a government agency, and need to just generate WinHelp to replace an existing Help file, not make everyone change a whole bunch of stuff to use WebHelp or a CHM file.  I need WinHelp output from Word. And, one more thing: I do not have administrator access on my PC either.
Feedback, experiences, and suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance for your help!
    Di

The licence you bought was for RoboHelp Office which includes both the RoboHelp for Word and RoboHelp HTML applications. Each of these three has it's own installation file so I suspect that they have installed just the RoboHelp HTML application. They should have the details for the RoboHelp for Word application, or better still the RoboHelp Office application which gives you the options of what to install according to your needs.

  • How to Install & use HTML DB

    Hi,
We have oracle 9.2.0.5. Is it the part of database or do I need to install HTML DB ? Is there any technical doc on this.
    Thanks
    HarvinderB

    Harvinder,
HTML DB is a new feature of the Oracle database 10g that but is also supported with 9.2.0.3 an up. Download the database 10g Companion CD and use that for your installation. See also the various links on our home page:

  • Install sqldeveloper on windows 7 64 Bit and Oracle 11.2

    Hi,
how can I find the rigth jdk. I installed JDK on C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_23.
I installed Oracle 11.2 including sqldeveloper. But I cannot find the correct folder to start sqldeveloper.
Where can I find this path?
When I include a path with java.exe I get the error "Unable to find a Java Virtual Machine. To point to a locacion of a Java Virtual Machine, pleaser refer to the Oracle9i Jdeveloper Install guide (jdev\install.html)" Where can I find this?
    Thank you for your help
    Siegwin

I am on Windows 7 64 bit. I see that installing Oracle 11.2 database installs SQL Developer also but that doesn't work. I get the .bat file not found crap. What I then did was do a seperate install of SQL Developer for 64 bit, but that does NOT install the jdk.
I then did the java install from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-6u25-download-346242.html
    I selected: jdk-6u25-windows-x64.exe
I then point to the java.exe where this install loaded it (c:\program files\Java\jdk1.6.0_25\bin when I start up sql developer and it still gives the same error. I delete the SetJavaHome value in the sqldeveloper.conf file and try again over and over but it still gives the same error.
So, I have windows 7 - 64 bit operating system. I have Oracle 11.2 database installed. I have a seperate installation of SQL Developer 64 bit and I have the java jdk for 64 bit installed.
Nothing is working. Can anyone please steer me in the correct direction? Should I delete the second install of SQL Developer 64 bit and to an install of SQL Developer 32 bit?
    Please help
