Installed java, now browser don't work.

Question

I installed jre 142_01. Then the sdk, same version.
Now my browser can't browse.
Played around with setting Java (SUN) plug-in off and on, and rebooting.
Still nothing.
Oh yes, I also installed tomcat 406.
I would like to go higher with tomcat, but the 3rd party software I want to install later is only certified on 406 tomcat.

Try the sudu prebinding shuffle.
It goes like this:

1. Save any files or work you may have open, because you'll need to restart the computer after these steps.
2. Open Terminal (found at /Applications/Utilities/).
3a. In 10.3.x or earlier Type: sudo update_prebinding -root / -force
3b. In 10.4.0 and later sudo update_prebinding -root / -force -debug
4. Press Return.
5. Enter your password when prompted.
6. The prebinding operation may take a few minutes. When it is complete, a new command-line prompt will appear. When this happens, please quit Terminal and restart your computer.
(Don't forget to Restart.)
