Installed lates version of iTunes. Now it hangs 'while updating library' Any ideas?
Running iTunes for Windows, on 64-bit Vista PC. I tried uninstalling iTunes and re-installing, but it still stops running while 'updating itunes library'.
I searched this forum for simlar problems. I found:
Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interfence with plug-ins or scrpits not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down the Shift and Control keys while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
After clicking Continue, determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you see the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the Create a New User Account section below. If you do not experience the same issue, consult iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins for steps on how to remove thrid-party plug-ins.
The library fully updated after a few seconds. I then closed iTunes and started it normally. It runs fine now. I'm not sure what caused the problem, but it was fixed. I hope it works for you. For the full article click:

Installed new version of iTunes, now it won't work
Ok so I think I am fairly competent at using a computer, and I just installed the new version of iTunes last night and when I went to open it up I got the following message:
"QuickTime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires QuicTime version 7.1.3 or later, please reinstall iTunes"
So i have uninstalled, restarted computer, and then reinstalled iTunes 3 times now and keep getting the same message. I've also tried to install the latest version of QuickTime by itself to see if that helps and it didn't.
Any suggestions???? Thanks in advance for your help.
HP DV1040us Windows XP
HP DV1040us Windows XP"QuickTime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires QuicTime version 7.1.3 or later, please reinstall iTunes"
try reinstalling 7.0.2.16. if you still get the same message, we'll try swapping out your existing QuickTime for a fresh one.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now? -

Hey omgbecky,
When you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you use this article?
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
If you haven't already done these steps, this section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

In the Mac, the updater icon told me there were many updates. I had them all install and they did, supposedly successfully. However, after I opened PS, it's still the old version and if I go to Help and click updates, it says I have the lastest version, yet it's still 14.2 What's going on? Thanks.
This may help ...
I had the CC Desktop App tell me there were new versions available and got both Indesign (CC 2014) and Photoshop (CC 2014). Went to start Indesign and got an error: 1. Suggesting I uninstall and then reinstall. The uninstaller in the app folder had lost its alias link to the original uninstall file so I had to manually find it and un-install. Then re-did installation using the CC Desktop app, and now its starting. So I am doing the same with Photoshop now and have tried starting Indesign and it is now working ... So Id suggest check your application folder and look for a folder "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014" and if its not there then you may well have just updated the existing CC application. The 2014 is a totally new install ...

A later version of itunes is already installed.Even when trying to unistall
I can't update itunes and i can't unistall itunes everytime i try, i get the message 'A later version of itunes is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue'.
I've tried to manually unistall itunes but that doesn't work.
I've google'd the problem but no one seems to have had this problem.
Does anyone at all have any idea, how to i can resolve this issue???Did you do all the steps in the scond article recommended by Jason? It would help if you explained exaclty what steps you have taken.
Usually this issue is solved by cleaning up the installer files with the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. Did you do That?
In case it helps here is a step by step method for removal of iTunes, installer clean up and reinstall.
== uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
XP
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
Vista
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305409
If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
If it does, install iTunes.

A later version of iTunes is already installed.
This is the error I get trying to install the latest iTunes.
"A later version of iTunes is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue."
Since 7.3 IS the latest version, this message is in error.
I have removed iTunes, I have removed Quicktime, I have deleted files, I have deleted registry entries, I have used the Windows Installer Cleaup Utility.
Now I don't have iTunes, and can not install any version of it.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
RuinFair enough ... but they shouldn't be there. I just launched my CleanUp and saw no blanks up the top.
Before approaching them, we could try working out what they aren't. Have a look through the rest of the list. Are all the other programs that you use on a regular basis mentioned somewhere else in the list?
(Thinking that if we can account for all the other programs you use, we could go after those those two blanks acting on the assumption that they are actually the iTunes or QuickTime entries. The classic version of what i'm thinking of is extremely rare ... it usually involved old QuickTime versions and you're having an issue with iTunes, which is why I'm guessing that there are no version numbers in your case.) -
After installing the lates version of itunes on my Sony Vio, a bubble pops up which says:
iTunes installation complete, ERROR occured during installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation process, run the installation again.
I did this, but this bubble keeps appearing. What do I need to do?Hello there, glenkram.

Trying to install latest version of itunes got error code 7
help, while downloading & instaling latest version of itunes on windows 7 i got error code 7 ( windows 1114 ) & now cant install, can anyone help
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
This worked for me -

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

I'm using Windows 7 (service pack 1). I have 3 USB ports, one of which I've extended with a 4-slot extension. I bought a Western Digital Elements and an I Omega 1 TB USB portable hard drive (each nominally clocks in at 930 gigabytes). I plugged on
