Installed latest softward for my ipad 2 and now it want's me to connect to iTunes and restore to factory settings!? What do I do? I can't access the iPad2 other than a screen that shows a plug being inserted into the iTunes logo.
So I saw that my software needed to be updated, so I did it over wifi, then a picture with the plug being inserted into the iTunes logo appears on the screen when finished the install. I plug my iPad 2 into the connector and iTunes sees the iPad 2 connected. Then a window opens that says to restore to use iTunes. I click restore and a second message appears stating something to the effect "Are you sure you want to restore to factory setting all info will be lost."
NO I don't want to loose everything.
My iPad only powers on with the image of a cord pugging into the iTunes logo. I can't get past it and I don't want to restore the iPad 2 to factory settings.
What do I do?
Any help would be appreciated.

I want to install a new internal hard drive for my Macbook (13in, Late 2009) and restore to factory settings. However, I want to keep my Mac OS X Snow Leopard., which I downloaded from the app store. How can I restore computer with the updated OS?
What I did on our two computers was partition the hard drive so that both Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion can be used on the computers. This allowed me to be able to retain/use older applications and games on the Snow Leopard partition. This will allow you to do a clean install of Mountain Lion on the newly created partition. The Mountain Lion installer has a button that allows you to select another drive so you don't install it over Snow Leopard. I cleverly name one partition Snow Leopard and the other one Mountain Lion so I wouldn't confuse the two (I never claimed to be smart).
To partition, you need to have sufficient free hard drive space (I suggest 50 GB minimum). Boot off the Snow Leopard DVD or the disks that came with the computer and use Disk Utility to partition your hard drive into two partitions. If you plan to make Mountain Lion your primary OS, then you can reduce the size of the Snow Leopard partition so most of the free hard drive space is available for Mountain Lion. While booted off the disk, you can install Snow Leopard on the partition you want it on.
Restart and download Mountain Lion, remembering to select the correct partition before installing. I would make a copy of the installer and move it out of the Applications folder because the installer self destructs.
After getting all that sorted out, I found that while booted in Mountain Lion I could access the Snow Leopard partition. That allowed me to drag files and applications from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Applications that won't work with Mountain Lion will be grayed out with a slash through them. -
I've been given under warranty what us supposed to be a new iPhone 5. When I try and restore it from my iCloud it keeps asking me to sign in with two other Apple ID's that are not know to me. Why is this?
Adding to KC7GNM's remark (with which I agree), the iPhone 5 you received is very likely refurbished. It is not brand new out-of-the-box, never before used.

Thankshave you backed up in the past with iTunes or iCloud? If so, it is possible that you will not lose this information, but I cannot guarantee anything.
Check for backups in iTunes by going to Preferences > Devices > Device backups
If you do not see any, and your iPad is still in working order, check for iCloud backups in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup

Nothing. The message means you MUST restore your phone to factory settings. There's no way around this . Your phone is in recovery mode. That's the only way to get it out. -

After going back and forth between Apple, AT&T and the police (all telling me to go to the other two) I took AT&Ts suggestion and got a new number. One tech warned against doing a backup, especially on my Mac, saying if my phone had been hacked then whatever bug was there would then invade my computer. But nobody knows how to determine if the phone has been hacked or a virus was planted there. Unfortunately I know who would have reason to do such a thing and all I can say is that he is at the top technologically and could easily do it. Almost impossible to prove, however.
So I need to preserve my text messages and my emails as well. I backed up my photos to that Microsoft product (One-Drive) and it froze (Surprise, Surprise) with four short videos to go, and no way of stopping that (when I tried it crashed repeatedly) so I'm in crisis mode here.

I've seen some strange things going on between my iMac and my iPhone and Apple has told me the same thing, call the police which I have done. The hackers have stole 500.00 out of my checking account have access to every internet account I use and no matter how often I change the password their right back on the account. I closed my FB account 3 times only to have someone reopen it. Right now I've got a link in my reading list (Safari) that if I click on it, it allows me to log onto my FB account anonymously.
I've seen a green folder come out of no where while I was trying to delete my passwords out of keychain when that green folder was put into the key chain I was immediately locked out. I than went into system preferences to try to make changes to my security settings, when I clicked on the icon it wouldn't open. I've seen log files of automator receiving commands and sending out my personal information thats on my computer.
I have a legitamate program called iExplorer that allows you to look at the contents of your iPhone back ups and saw a transaction someone made at the Apple store for some full length movies, some albums, ibooks and other apps but when I called the iTunes store and they said none of those items were showing up on my account. If their not on my account how can they be on my iPhone 6? One day someone was using my gmail account and unknowingly used google maps to search for an Italian restaurant, than a Mexican restaurant than a coffee shop and their search showed up on my iPhone but I didn't have my gmail account installed on my iPhone 6. Using my computer I logged onto my gmail account and looked at the maps history and sure enough there were the searches when I'd hover my curser over the link it gave me the longitude and latitude of the where the hacker was when he was using google maps. I know whoever reads this thinks Im crazy but I've documented everything and can prove the things that I have mentioned in this post actually happened.
One day I had my laptop (pc) and my iMac next to each other as I was using both. when I clicked on airport it showed that my laptop and my iMac had made a connection and were actually communicating with each other. I know I didn't do it I don't know how. The iMac was logged into my iCloud account while my laptop wasn't. I have formatted my iPhone at least a dozen times, Apple and an Apple retailer have formatted my hard drive not to mention the numerous times I have formatted it but the hackers keep getting on my devices. I right clicked on the page I was redirected to and read the java script and couldn't believe that someone had actually configured Internet Explorer to redirect me to a blank page when I tried to go to Microsoft. Apples answer to all this is there was nothing wrong with my iPhone or my iMac and if I thought there was a problem to call the police which I have done.
Theres no doubt the hackers are reading this while I type it or will read it and I simply don't care anymore. I no longer email anyone, don't use my iCloud account and have taken precautions to protect my credit but if I ever find out who has invaded my privacy to this extreme the police are going to want to talk to me because Im going to hurt them like they've never been hurt before -

How can I wipe my hard drive and restore to factory settings without the use of the original OS CD?
I have a 2010 MacBook and I need to wipe the hard drive and restore to factory settings.
The problem is that even though I have the original disc, the CD drive has stopped functioning and will reject any disc put into it.
Therefore, is there another method to do this without the CD?Not very easily. To restore to factory software you need the original installation DVD (CDs).
If you have another Mac which is the same make and model so that those installation DVD (CDs) would work, you can use a Firewire cable between the 2 Macs and then put your Mac to be reset into Target mode and use the other Mac to install the software. However I suspect that is unlikely. -
While syncing my iphone 4s, its saying unable to sync and restore to factory settings. But, My iphone 4s is factory unlocked. If I restore to factory settings will the iphone get locked to the carrier again.

It all depends on the definition of "factory unlocked". If the phone was purchased directly from Apple and the receipt says "Unlocked" then updating or restoring it will leave it unlocked (Apple never uses the term "factory unlocked" as there is no such thing; phones are unlocked at activation time). Similarly, if it had been locked to a carrier and the carrier authorized it to be unlocked, and you went through the unlocking steps they provided, it is permanently unlocked.
Unfortunately, a lot of the phones sold as "factory unlocked" were actually unlocked by hacking in the "factory" in the basement of some shop somewhere. These phones at best will become locked to the original carrier if restored, and in the worst case will be permanently disabled if restored. -

Go to Settings, General, Sounds and ensure Keyboard Clicks are on.
If so, try a restart with the home and power buttons. Press them for ten seconds until the apple appears. -
I had whats up installed on my 3g I phone. I was trying to upgrade my software to 4.3 and I was told that I had to wipe my phone and then reset to factory settings. I did that still could not find an upgrade for 4.3 and now my phone is telling me that I need 4.3 to install whats up, when It was previously on the same phone....help anyone?
You need to either reload a compatible version of it from an iTunes library which contains it, or sell the iPhone and put the money towards a newer device. An iPhone 3G can't be updated past 4.2.1.
