Installed leopard 10.6.7 Photoshop CS3 will not see my canon scanner in the file/import

I have been using CS3 for years, with my faithfull canon 5600F used the import twain feature worked great, installed leopard 10.6.7: now my twain plug in does not show in the import menu: I read through many forums & posts: can't find a solution.
I do not have the "open rosetta" feature in the file info.
so what can I do?
am i the only one to experience it?

Have you checked for updates to the drivers, etc? See

You need to select the OS to see what is available.

  • PS CS5.1 [was: 5.5] will not see my Canon 550d cr 2 files

I am running a mac on os x and Photoshop 5.1 . I just purchased a canon rebel 550d (T5i I think) It will not see any of the images. This must be an Adobe issue as the MAc finder and preview sees the images.
SO I have downloaded and tried to install various camera raw updates. 5.1 5.7 6.1 6.4 7.1 7,3 nothing seems to work indeed one of them failed to open. ver 6.1 will not open as an error code comes up. this error code relates to not being elligable for the version, yet it says cs 5. cs 5.5 and 6 are worthy.
    CAn someone help please.
    regards Paul

Do you mean Photoshop 5.5 (shipped in 1999) or Photoshop CS5 (shipped in 2010)?
If 5.5 (1999), then it's unlikely to ever read Raw files.
If you mean CS5 then try Help > Updates to update your Camera Raw to version 6.7.

The 550D has been fully supported since Raw 6.1

  • I recently bought an Epson Artisan 837 printer. I installed the driver and now Photoshop from CS3 will not open. It quits when the Twain portion of the program starts loading. Does anyone know how to fix this so my printer will work with Photoshop??

I recently bought an Epson Artisan 837 printer. I installed the driver and now Photoshop from CS3 will not open. It closes every time it gets to the point where it is loading the Twain portion. Does anyone know how to fix this so my printer and Photoshop will work together? Thanks for any help I can get!

    You're welcome.
But, no, don't look to  Epson for fixes to their  driver in newer versions, and Adobe has deprecated the TWAIN plug-in.  Hoping for a solution there is futile.  That has not happened and it's never going to happen.  The consensus is that it's pretty foolish to tie up Photoshop to scan.  Honestly.
Any improvement in the behavior of newer versions of the Epson drivers in that regard would be pure coincidence.
You need to understand that you never, ever scan "within" Photoshop, as Photoshop has no scanning capabilities whatsoever.  When you use the Import > Twain plug-in all you are doing is blocking Photoshop while you call up the stand-alone Epson scanning software.  If you think about it, its most inefficient.
VueScan has a pretty powerful scanning plug-in that can be called from the Impost menu—if you insist.  VueScan is not free, but it's a pretty good value, IMO.
As for the Epson CD printing software, I have no clue.  Sorry.

  • Photoshop CS3 will not display all available actions in Actions folder

Windows XP Pro - CS3 Extended
I have appprox 400 actions. When I open the actions palet, then go to the actions options (clicking on the small downward pointing triangle in the upper right corner) I can see my options for actions, placed in a vertical column at the left hand side of the screen. There are 5 additional columns displaying the actions I hae, in alphabetical order. The 5th column ends in the "F's" even though I have actions starting with letters of the alphabet going all the way through the alphabet.
If I chose to 'Load Actions' a dialogue box pops up showing the actions folder (the one contained in the presets folder), but no actions appear. If I view the folder from Windows file explorer, I can see all of the actions.
Is there a limit to the number of actions CS3 will display? Why do I not see any actions shown in the Load Actions dialogue box?
I use a plug-in manager to limit the number of plugins CS3 loads on startup. Is there something similar for actions?
I appreciate all comment and help.
    Thanks very much.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Will Not Install PLEASE HELP TRIED EVERYTHING

I downloaded from Adobe the Photoshop CS3 Extended Trial directly from Adobe. (BTW I am on Vista 32)
The first time I tried installing, ADBEPHSPCS3_WWE.exe successfully unpacked, I successfully transitioned to the Adobe Photoshop CS3 installation, and it appeared to install. After 30 minutes or so, the installer finished and simply said that shared components had installed but the Photoshop CS3 Component install failed.
I always got in the log Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC,version="8.0.50727.163",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18 e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information
This, I know, is everyones typical problem.
I turned off firewall and antivirus.
I uninstalled ALL Adobe and Macromedia programs, including Flash and Acrobat.
I used Windows Install Cleanup Utility to remove them.
I downloaded the CS3 Clear from Adobe and cleared at levels 1, 2, and 3.
I created the Administrator account on my computer and tried everything on the Administrator account.
I tried installing Photoshop CS3 with compatibility mode for XP SP2.
    I tried:
    1. Open an Administrator command prompt by right clicking on Start -> All
Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt and selecting "Run as
Administrator" and clicking "Allow" for the elevation prompt
    2. In the command prompt, type the command below
    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
    3. Reboot the machine
    I tried:
Get command prompt up. It has to be run with admin rights so save yourself some time and run it this way.........Start/programs/accessories/.....right click command prompt and click run as administrator.
Then paste these commands in 1 after the other
    regsvr32 vbscript.dll (THEN PRESS ENTER)
    and
    regsvr32 jscript.dll (AGAIN PRESS ENTER)
I even tried installing in Safe Mode but the CS3 setup would not initialize.
I do not know what else to do. I have CS2 which I will use, but I was really hoping to move to CS3 which is supposed to be better and faster. Does anyone know anything else to do? I am not a computer noob but I am not about to reinstall Vista. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

I was in the same predicament and after spend many hours over several days trying a multitude of things I finally found an easy fix (below):
    ========================================
Assuming you have Internet Explorer 7 go to:
    Tools/Internet option/Advanced
Click the Reset dialog box. This will bring IE7 back to its default settings. You should reboot your computer. After logging back into Windows load IE and let it take you though its initial setup. When you are done close IE and install Photoshop.. This worked for me,,, hopefully it will work for you!

  • Photoshop CS3 will not open in Windows 7 after functioning perfectly?

I have just installed Windows 7, 32-bit version within the last month. I reinstalled all my programs, including InDesign and Photoshop CS3. InDesign is working well. Photoshop CS3 worked fine until last week. Overnight Photoshop would not open! I have tried everything I can think of--deleting Preferences (it took me three days to find where it was, and the control-alt-shift doesn't work), and deleted a new program for viewing videos which was the only new program I had installed (just in case), then "repaired" the Photoshop using the original disk.
Finally was able to get into Photoshop BUT: Everything is screwy--colors are off, PS tells me I have only 1600 MB of RAM, when I know I have 2 Gigs installed, it looks really strange--everything is grayed out in a checkerboard pattern.
This is my third post on this issue--CAN ANYONE HELP ME??  I have been without my Photoshop for over a week, and desperately need to get it back. I am just now getting back on track, trying to get my website back, etal. after almost a year out of commission due to a broken back and crashed computer. Now I have my computer back and can't use PHOTOSHOP!  HELP!
In addition, my computer suddenly says "We have had to revert to the basic Windows color scheme because there is one program that needs it (???), and then my desktop is all screwed up. I can't get my color management back--have to turn computer off and on again and then it's all right. This always happens after trying to enter Photoshop.
Please email me a response because this is getting very annoying, and debilitating. ([email protected])

Last week I spent 8 hours online with Sony trying to get Photoshop to work. They downloaded a new video card, and driver--nothing has seemed to work. After that I completely deleted Photoshop and re-installed it from scratch. It still does not work--colors are missing, RAM is incorrect--says I have 1678 MB RAM, when there are 2 gigs on the system. It's totally unusable. Since I am seriously thinking of upgrading  to PS CS5, both InDesign and Photoshop, I am very nervous about whether that will work in Windows 7, especially after reading all the problems on this forum.
I read the other questions about CS3 and MAYBE it is a Windows Update. That is the only new thing I can think of to have caused this. Windows Restore is not feasible as I have been working on this problem for over three weeks, and can't go back that far.
My question is, is it feasible/safe to delete the LAST update where this happened? That's the only thing that hasn't been done.

  • Photoshop CS3 will not Display Open Image on Workspace -- only in the Navigator

I am using a Compac laptop computer with Windows XP Home with the Creative Suite 3 and 2 Gb of RAM.
The problem I am running into is that when I open a file in Photoshop CS3, it will open, however it only shows up in the navigator, not on the desktop/workspace. I can "zoom in" and "zoom out" however it is only reflected in the navigator, it still does not show up to be able to edit.
I have tried uninstalling and resinstalling the entire Creative Suite. That sometimes helps, but it doesn't seem to last. It has been happening now for about 6 months.
It seems strange so any advice/help would be wonderful!!

    First things first.
Your image seems to be off screen. Try changing to the default workspace or changing the screen resolution to see if it becomes visible. Were you previously on two monitors?
Also try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 will not run

I reloaded my windows xp 2005 (?) and tried to load my CS3 software.  It will not even run.  It has been suggested that the software can only be reloaded a certain number of times.  I have reloaded this software 3-4 (?) times over the years.  Is this the problem or is is something else?

Don't think there is a number of times you can re-install your program.  You can only have 2 activated copies, so if you move to a different machine and don't deactivate on the old one it is still considered an activated copy.
But why would you uninstall and re-install your copy?  THis rarely solves problems, espeically if you do not run the Adobe Script Cleaner.  Also, the preference file is unchanged on a reinstall, so if there were errors in it before, they are still there.

  • Photoshop cs3 will not open any files when I try to open them?

Can somebody please help me? I have tried resetting my preferences in photoshop and it still does not work. I go to file < open < and the image does show up or anything I try to open in photoshop. I have windows xp and I am using photoshop cs3.

It almost sounds as though something has corrupted your installation of Adobe programs. It could be perhaps a necessary Common File being deleted, or corrupted.
Most Adobe programs offer the Repair Install feature, and I would see if it's available for CS3. CS2 Production Studio apps. allow for this. When I have had to do the Repair Install, I have just inserted the installation media (Disk 1), and have chosen Repair Install from the AutoRun menu. In some later versions, there was a Repair Install available from the Help menu, so you can look there too.
With suites, I have done the Repair Install for each program in the suite (CS2 Production Studio in my case), and just gone down the list (second, or third menu) of installed programs. For Production Studio, the whole process took no more than 45 mins. from the installation disks.
If you have lost something, the Repair Install should fix it.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Photoshop CS2 will not work with RAW images in the Minolta DimAge A2.  It use to work fine

I have used Photoshop CS 2 with my DimAge A2 for over 5 years in the RAW format.  Now it will not work with RAW with my camera.  I am using Vista 64.Any answers ?  Thanks

It would seem to me that you have probably had to reinstall Photoshop CS 2.  If that is the case, then you should download and install Camera Raw 3.7.  The version that was on your install disk was updated several times.  And one of those updates probably included support for your camera.  Install ACR 3.7 and see if that helps.

  • After updating Macbook to Yosemite, Adobe Bridge CS5.1 will not batch rename .jpgs without corrupting the files. How can I fix this?

    Wait, I just caught this:

Are you referring to the 3-letter ".jpg" extension being deleted?  You can't do that, of course!  If that is still the case, you'll have to add it manually to each JPEG file.

  • Photoshop CS can't see my Canon Scanner

I've never had a problem opening the Canon N1220U scanner until today. I reinstalled the OSX driver off Canon's website but still Photoshop thinks the scanner is not connected. Although when I click "About This Mac" it's listed.
What can I do? I shouldn't have to use Vuescan or what ever that program is called.

  • Photoshop CS3 will not install at all

I have been using CS for years with no problems. I just UNinstalled CS in order to install CS3, full version not an upgrade, and after the install screen appears and I click install the "initiallizing CS3" appears and then Nothing Happens, absolutely nothing happens. Nothing loads, no prompts appear, Nothing. What did'nt happen? I am running XP 2 on Athlon dual core 5200+ 2Gig ram 250 gig disk. All other Adobe programs are still OK. Any help?

    <begin soapbox mode>
Microsoft made a HORRIBLE design decision, way back with the very first version of Windoze, when they created a Registry file that was open to every program installed, or UNinstalled, on the computer
Over time, it is very common for the Registry to become so corrupted with bad or incomplete installs or UNinstalls, that no amount of tweaking will fix the problem
The only solution, as RB found, is to wipe the hard drive and install everything fresh
That HORRIBLE (this is, of course, only my opinion) design desision has cause more problems than anything else

  • Photoshop CS3 will not auto-rotate images...

After loading CS3 on my new MacBook Pro (3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo), Photoshop does not auto rotate images?
The finder rotates them...Bridge rotates them...Expression Media2 rotates them.....Photoshop does not
Obviously the camera, Nikon D2x, is set to tag vertical images for rotation. What gives? I can't find any sort of setting in PS for auto rotate.
It worked on my old laptop and on an old EMac.

Thanks! I appreciated the help. But I did that also.
It is a waste of my time to have to do this after every photo shoot. Photoshop and many other programs do this automatically. There has to be a reason for it not working on my new laptop. I even uninstalled and reinstalled CS3.
I was hoping for a solution not a work around....I guess I need to contact the Adobe support team. Do they frequent these forums or is it just us?
