Installed Linksys Router but IP address shows Netgear Information

Trying to setup security for my Linksys Router that I didn't do when I first installed it, but when I access the Routers IP address page, Netgear information comes up. How is this possible? I had the Linksys rep on line trying to get help, and she got real testy with me when I told her what was happening. Any advice?

Is this cascaded then to another router? How does your connection go? Modem to Linksys router then to computers? Or do you have other devices namely of course a netgear device connected to your network?
Go to start --> run --> cmd and type in ipconfig. What is your default gateway? That should be one that you should attempt to type to access the router configuration page.

Your install disk must look like this
    and not like this.
Those gray disks are machine specific and will only work with model of Mac that they shipped with.

  • Apps installed from disk, but Application Manager shows them as not installed

I have all Creative Suite (Master) apps installed from disk, but Application Manager shows them as not installed. Why?

I find a way that could be firing this issue.
First, I installed Creative Cloud in spanish language, then installed some apps like DW, PS, FW, FL, and some more.
Then, some days ago, I realized that my apps were in spanish language, but I prefer them in english, so I switched the language of CC to english in settings options.
Now, these apps installed in spanish language are marked as "not installed" and I see the option to install them. And applications installed before language change, are fine and tracked for updates.
Maybe the issue is related to language changed, the CC manager can't track the language change.
Hope to find a solution in short time, this could be a major issue for someone.
At this time, I'm re-installing the apps in english, I think they must override the spanish ones.
I'm using MacOS 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion) on MacBook AIR, Core i7 (if that make sense)
    Cheers!

  • Apple TV2, Linksys Router, Preferred IP Addresses not being taken

I'm setting up every internet enabled device in my household on a preferred IP address inside my linksys router. This is in case of any future use where I may need to port forward to a specific device. I am setting up the preferred IP addresses in the Linksys instead of adding Manual addresses to each individual item as not only does that add to the process, it's not very friendly when trying to change the order of IP addresses I have done, or if a new item is added to the household. Plus Manual addresses can be deceiving if there are network errors.
The devices we have: iPhone4, iPhone4S, iPad 3rd Gen, Airport Express, Apple TV2, Mac Mini and a PS3.
    The Router: Linksys WRT120N fw1.0.07
The Linksys requires the MAC addresses of each device to assign the preferred IP Address to each individual device. I have even gathered up the Wifi and Ethernet adaptors MAC addresses for the items applicable. All devices are properly eing assigned the right IP address... but no matter what I try, the Apple TV2 always pulls a basic 192.168.1.100 IP even though its airport MAC address is assigned to grab 192.168.1.143 and ethernet is 192.168.1.142. Neither the ethernet nor the wireles settings of the ATV2 grab the right ones.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, how did you finally push the right preferred IP address to the device. (Keep in mind that I want to grab the items automatically, I want to have the linksys supply the preferred IP and not have the ATV2 grab a manual address)

Hi… Make sure that you have entered the MAC address of your Range Expander under MAC filter. You don’t need the filtering to be done on Range Expander. Try changing other wireless settings such as Channel to 11 etc… Also make sure that you are assigning an IP address that is in the range of the router. Go to wireless network connection properties, under wireless network, click advance button and select ‘access point, infrastructure networks only’. I think this should solve the issue. Upgrade the firmware on the router and range expander if needed.

  • Linksys Router- Assign IP Address?

I have a Linksys router with my Mac Pro. I have my mac pro wired into the router but it is a wireless router so there are other things on the router as well such as the Xbox. I have to have certain ports open for the Xbox to work and my torrent client to work as well. Sometimes the router auto assigns the IP to my computer and then I have to go into the router settings and change which IP has which ports open for it. Is there a way to assign my computer an IP so it gets the same IP every time and same with the Xbox?

Open Network preferences click on the Advanced button then on the TCP/IP tab. Note the IP address assigned to your computer by the router, then change the TCP/IP IPv4 Configure drop down menu to DHCP with manual addressing. Then insert the IP address your router was using under the previous setting. Click on the Apply button. Use this IP address in your port forwarding configuration.

  • Installing Linksys Router for DSL

    HELP!!
    Here's what I did first:
Pulled off instructions from Linksys "Setting Up DSL on a Linksys Router Using an Apple/Mac computer".
    Second:
Inside the router package is the document "start here" , with a Run CD First. Inserted cd , never prompted - took that out.
Now my confusion: should I start where??? I'm no good at the technical part. I'm trying.
    Any suggestions.

cmykGirl, Welcome to the discussion area!
Also, on the CD you will find the Users Guide (a PDF document). Follow the directions for configuring the router via a web browser. The screen shots are from Windows but it works exactly the same from the Mac.
BTW, this is the discussion area for the iMac G4. There is another dedicated discussion area for the iMac G5.

  • Installed an app but it never showed up??

Ok so I download an app but it never showed up on my iPod and whenever I went to the app store and looked through the purchased list, it said it was installed onto my iPod buuut it's not there??

Did you try to locate it using the "spotlight" function on the ipod? Go to your home screen and swipe to the right, this will bring up the spotlight search dialog.
You can also try to reset your Home screen layout in Settings/General/Reset->Reset Home Screen

  • Linksys router and IP address problem

My linksys router is sending out a fake IP address of 24.124... Is there any way to set it so it sends out something else? I'm trying to access a chat server which banned ALL 24.124 addresses because of some hacker doing a number on their server. I really want to get in without having to buy another router. I have a WRT54G V5

If the router is not giving the 192.168.1.x ip, the router might be acting as a pass through already and needs a firmware upgrade. If the firmware upgrade will not save the router, it might be defective.

  • Installed iTunes 6 but my library shows as empty

    Hello,
I installed iTunes 6.0 and assumed, based on previous updating experience, that my library would be imported from iTunes 4.x. not so. How do I now access old playlists, etc, as my older version of iTunes is no longer accesible, please?
Do i have to reimport all my songs into itunes from the hard drive? I have not yet synched my iPod with new iTunes becuase i don't want to overlook some random yet critical step, such as i'm afraid i might have done with the upgrade, and have the songs stripped off of it.

  • Linksys Router Slowing Apple TV Downloads, but Nothing Else

    So here is my problem.
I have very fast cable modem broadband (16/2). But Apple TV HD content seems to download at less than 1Mbps.
My system is cable modem (Scientific Atlanta) to Linksys WRT54G (broadcasting on channel 6; no significant strong nearby WiFi signals) wirelessly to Apple TV / Powerbook G4 /iMac (with WPA security).
If I run download tests of 100MB files, I'm clocking over 10Mbps most times, clocking about 6-8 Mbps during primetime hours. Yet no matter what time of day, Apple TV HD downloads clock in at about 1Mbps.
At first I thought Comcast was to blame (see previous thread). But I've ruled this out by connecting the modem directly to the Apple TV via ethernet, and then getting extremely fast downloads. I've also connected the Apple TV via ethernet to the router, and achieved extremely fast downloads.
So the problem appears to be in how my router communicates with the Apple TV. I've read in these forums that changing the "multicast rate" on an Apple router improved Apple TV performance, but there is no such setting on the Linksys. The only thing that comes close are the settings for "basic rate" and "transmission rate" neither of which make a difference. There is another option to disable the "filter multicast" function, but as far as I know Apple TV is not multicasting in the way that say an IPTV service like BBC's does.
So I'm at a loss. For now, I'm just leaving the router plugged into the Apple TV via ethernet, but I'd rather (for other reasons) go in wirelessly.

    Linksys, eh???
In the router's setting, try disabling "IPS" if your particular model has that feature.
When I upgraded my service to 30/5, I was still getting only 10/4 BEHIND the Linksys router (but 30/4 direct from the modem). So somehow my Linksys RVS4000 was restricting, or not processing quick enough. Disabling the IPS function solved my problem. (But since Linksys uses IPS as a security feature in a proprietary manner, and I don't like to be unprotected, I've since gone with a D-Link router that's safer and faster...)

  • ASA 5505 Connected To Linksys Router

Hello, I have a cable modem internet connection and my cable modem is connected to an ASA 5505.  The inside interface of the ASA has an IP address of 192.168.2.2 and is connected to a Linksys router's internet port which has an IP address of 192.168.2.1.  The Linksys router then has a local area network of 192.168.1.0 and all my clients are on that network.  Everything is working fine except in my ASA logs all the traffic shows up as the router's external address which is 192.168.2.1.  I would like to see the 192.168.1.x address of the clients in the ASA firewall.  I've tried making some changes to the Linksys router but that hasn't resolved it.  Is there any changes I can make on the ASA to get this to work?   Below is some of the config:

The Linksys doing NAT is the reason why the ASA sees all the traffic as having source address as 192.168.2.1. The only way for the ASA to see the original 192.168.1.x address is to change the Linksys to not do NAT.
One thing that I notice is that there is not a route statement in what you posted for the 192.168.1.0 network. It is not clear whether the route does exist and you did not post it or whether the route does not exist. But if it does not exist it would certainly be a reason why you lose Internet connectivity when you change the Linksys to not perform NAT. (the ASA would have no knowledge of how to forward to the network and would drop all the traffic). Try adding the route to the ASA and changing the Linksys to not perform NAT and let us know if it works.
