Installed Lion but can't get multi-finger scrolling to work.

I have a MacBook Pro 17 ( two years old maybe) and just upgraded to Lion. I can do the pinching part of the new trackpad Lion coolness but not the scrolling. Which is annoying since the old scroll bars on windows are gone. I have them all selected to be ON in system prefs. Can anyone offer some help here? Do these features not work on macs that aren't new with a builtin new magic pad?

Normal up and down scrolling from the track pad should work. There is nothing new here except for the scrolling direction. Two finger up/down scrolling has always been the norm on trackpads.
If you go to System Preferences->Track Pad; Scroll & Zoom how is scroll direction set?
As for the scroll bars They are set in System Preferences->General. The choices are always show the scrol bars, when scrolling or based in the input device. Have you selected Always?

What model computer do you have? some early trackpads will not support all gestures.
Front Row was dropped by Apple in Lion. I beleive it can be recovered from Snow Leopard, I haven't tried it myself.

Also try turning Off Face Time
Open Face Time
Go to the Preferences
Set it to Off.
Also make sure your router has the Time and Date/Time Zone set as this upsets Face Time which in turn upsets IChat

Say you have term <foo> and definition <bar> pair. Here term (any text you want highlight) is used in document at many places and definition is defined once as complete paragraph anywhere (i.e. in table cell). if same term is define at multiple places first definition is taken.
Use marker text same as your term text <foo> for tagging both term and definition.

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.

There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.

VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. Can I get three finger scroll to navigate back and forward pages in firefox like in OS X Snow Leopard?

My only complaint so far about Lion. It's like I have a new toy to play with, I'm just frustrated that the previous three finger scroll options are seemingly unavailable.

New Yoga 2 11 - Installed SSD but can't get Windows 8.1 to load

I just bought the base model Yoga 2 with a traditional hard drive. I have a brand new Samsung 830 256GB SSD drive that I wanted to install. I read on Lenovo's support site that Lenovo no longer offers recovery disks, since this laptop doesn't have a built in CD/DVD drive. But, the support article did say that you can make a recovery disk onto a USB drive. So before I put the new SSD drive in, I created a recover disk on a USB drive. I then pulled the original hard drive and installed the SSD. I booted off the USB drive and did a reset my computer. It starts restetting/restoring and only get's to 1% before it says "there was a problem resetting your PC". It gives no additional information. I've tried going into the advanced options and looking for a recovery image, but it can't find one...even though I am booting from the USB drive
I called Lenovo support and talked to two different guys. The first guy had me go into BIOS and try to change some settings, but apparently my BIOS was different than his, becuse I didn't have the exact same options. The next support guy told me the only way to put windows on my new SSD is to order the recovery disks from Lenovo, but in my case it would have to be a recovery USB drive. He wanted to charge me $69 for a recovery USB drive! I told him I have a usb DVD drive and asked if he could send me disks instead, but he said the cost would be the same. What is going on here???
I can't believe this has to be so difficult. Is the recovery option trying to find a recovery file on the new SSD and is that why it's failing? Why can't Lenovo provide the customer with free recovery disks? I follwed the instuctions exactly on the Lenovo documentation, but I assume this is only good for restoring the original hard drive. Any one have a solution?

There are reports that you can't use the recovery drive with a blank HDD (like the case in this thread) but if the recovery drive files are correctly written, you should be able to restore on a blank HDD as discussed in this article.
Also, note that the "Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive" is essential as this contains the recovery image (.wim file) that restores Windows into

Alternatively, you can also try to migrate the HDD to the SSD.
Using Samsung Data Migration Software:
1. Download and install the Samsung Data Migration Software
2. Connect the Samsung SSD to a 2.5" USB SATA Enclosure
3. Choose the Source Disk and Targer Disk and click Start to begin the data migration process.
4. Once the cloning is done, shut the machine off, remove the stock HDD and replace it with the Samsung SSD and observe.

Installed webutil but can't get it to work - IE just crashes

As far as I cam make out, I followed the installation instructions, copied files to the right places etc for webutil. But when I try and run my form, IE just crashes out with a runtime error. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm using Forms 10.1.2.02 and IE 8.

I seem to be getting somewhere now!
I got past the initial crashing by first of all using the basejpi.htm, and including the jar files in the archive= lines in the config. At runtime I was prompted to accept the RegisterWebutil as coming from a trusted source. I ticked the box 'always trust'. Then I changed my config to use the webutil.htm, and it worked - crashed later, but I got past the initial! I think I might get this to work now. Thanks for the help though especially with the IE settings, as it wouldn't have worked without changing that.

I too had the same problem. Try:
1. Resetting the ipad by holding the sleep button and the home button simultaneously till the apple logo appears. And then try setting up facetime.
2. Setting the facetime through the facetime option in Settings.
Hope this helps. And its better not to sell the ipad 2. Its a brilliant device. Rather wait for the fifth generation ipad which might be launched in 2013.

I'll guess that you're upgrading from Snow Leopard? You should be able to start using your original install dvd by inserting the disc and restarting while holding the C key. Run Disk Utility from your install disc and try to repair the drive. Then try the upgrade again.

You can't install an older OS over a newer one. So you'll get a message saying you can't install ML until you erase the drive.
I'm presuming you already have the full Mountain Lion installer on your drive.
Download DiskMaker X. Use it, the ML installer, and an 8 GB flash drive to create your own bootable ML installer. Boot to the flash drive when it's ready. From there, you'll get the same minimal work screen as when you boot into Recovery Mode. Use Disk Utility to erase the drive, then install Mountain Lion. Restore your personal data.
