the sound is gone installed mountain lion last night help?

If you haven't already, I would open your Applications folder>System Preferences>Sound>click on the "Output" tab in the center>click on "Internal Speakers"> at the bottom of the window, slide the "Volume" slider all the way to the Right>and make sure that the "Mute" box is NOT checked.

  • 2007 MBP, couldn't install Lion, now can't re-install Leopard

I have a MBP from late 2007. It came with Leopard installed on it. I recently tried to upgrade to Lion, but received the message "Lion can't be installed on this computer". Now I can't reinstall Leopard. When I try to boot, it will always select the Lion partition, but I can't erase/unmount the Lion partition. Now, when I try to boot from the Leopard DVD, it also won't work.
How can I get rid of all remnants of Lion on my computer and install leopard, from the CD?
    Thanks!

Your 2007 MBP would have to been updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to install Lion. Now that you're in a mess, boot from your Leopard installer disk and Erase the disk and then install Leopard.

  • Installed Lion, now I can't save to my hard drive anymore!

I installed Lion yesterday, and now I cannot save documents or anything to my hard drive anymore.  To create a new folder on my hd i need to put in permission, to save a word document it says, can't do!  No space
"Word cannot save or create this file.  The disk may be full or write protected. Try one or more of the following, free more memory, make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected or damaged. "
How do I fix this?  thanks! e_moma

Hello Debora, and welcome to ASC -
I think it would be better to start your own thread, for a couple of reasons. First, although you may be getting the same error message as the original poster, it's not at all clear yet that they are caused by the same problem, and trying to sort out possible different situations can get very confusing. The original poster seems to have a permission problem even for creating a new folder; if you can save from TextEdit but not from Word then you may have a different problem. The original poster always has priority.
Second, this is the Lion forum, and if you are not running Lion you will get more focused help if you post in the forum that corresponds to your system. It's also important in getting help that people here know as much about your system as possible - you should complete your profile so that people know what you are running.

  • I just installed Lion-now my screensaver won't show photos from my iPhoto album?

After installing Lion (Mac OSX7.3) when I start the screensaver in System Prefs and select my iPhoto cache and any of the albums, all I get for a screensaver is "Flurry" when the screensaver starts. Why won't my photos display as a screensaver like they did in Snow Leopard? Is there a special trick to getting this to work? Also, when I try to disable the screensaver, like when I want to download and install apps that take a really long time to download, the MBP will go to sleep in 15 minutes, even though I have tried to set the sleep time to "Never". This is frustrating. Thanks in advance.....Rodney

Well, now I'll never know.  In the end I had three drives that wouldn't mount properly.  Wouldn't show up at all in disk utility, desktop, nothing.  The first two were a brand new MyBook 3TB USB drive ("Sequoia") and a Lacie Rugged 500GB drive that I was just given by a client ("Drive 21") - probably not a very old drive either.
I had already done what you recommended, unplugging the G-Raid 2TB (very new) drive, another Lacie Rugged 500GB drive ("Susie", a couple years old), and a Lacie 1TB drive (18 months old or so).  Then reset, plugged in Sequoia and Drive 21.  Nothing.  All sorts of other attempts.  Nothing.
Then with everything above already plugged in and Sequoia and Drive 21 not showing up, I pulled Drive 21 and replace it with yet another Lacie Rugged 500TB drive ("Moe") the same age as Susie.  Did not show up.  Then I connected Drive 21 to my Powerbook and it worked fine.  Plugged it back in my Mac Pro daisy chained to Moe and it showed up immediately.
Tried the same process with Sequoia, and no luck anywhere.  Then just powered Sequoia down for a few minutes, plugged back into my Mac Pro and all is well in the world.
So I think there were two things going on.  I think it was all caused by the Lion upgrade, and somehow connecting to my Powerbook helped with some sort of non-scientific reset.  And with Sequoia I think being a USB drive needing a separate power source, it needed a bit of an extra minute or two.
    Thanks for responding.

  • Installed Tiger, now Pro is gone!

Hello there! I recently installed the new Tiger OS, and everything seems fine. Now I have gone into use Quick Time Pro for the first time since the upgrade and all my pro features are gone! The registration details are all gone too! Aarrgghh!! Do I have to pay for the system again? I hope not - that would be seriously unfair!
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!!

Upgrade to Tiger likely overwrote your installed QT package/registration data. If it was already QT 7, then all you should need to do is re-enter your QT Pro key information. If your old QT package was QT 6, then you will either need to purchase a new QT Pro key or revert to older QT package and re-enter your old key information. If QT Pro was activated by other software (e.g., FCE) and QT version was not changed, then re-installing that particular software will likely reactivate QT Pro functions. As to loss of registration info, assuming you made your purchase online, registration info should still be available on the "point of purchase" Apple site (otherwise it's "happy hunting" time for missing key).

  • My password has changed whilst installing lion now cant finish install?

My password has changed so i cant install Lion help
i have tried my mobilme password and changed that and re-entered it to no avail

So the question remains:  How to install from a local copy?
    There is no easy way.
If your Mac came with Lion preinstalled, your options are:
    1. Make a bootable clone immediately (before adding any apps or other files). Keep that for emergency purposes.
    2. Make a second bootable clone whenever there are major changes (and with all your apps and files installed).
    3. Purchase the USB stick from Apple for $69.
    4. You cannot purchase or download Lion from MAS (except with/through your internet recovery option) because you did not purchase Lion there in the first place (unless you were to completely erase your hard drive and then purchase/download Lion from MAS and then copy/save the installer to a safe place).

discs are becomming a thing of the past
I don't believe that is going to happen quite as quickly as Apple hopes it will.
P.S. I give up on the formatting - three tries: your name shows up fine in the reply window and then gets messed up......

  • Help! Tried to install Lion, now Mac won't start.

    Hey all,
So here's the scoop on what's happened.  Downloaded Lion fine, but foolishly tried to install it without backing up my data first.  When my computer restarts, it brings up the Lion installer.  I click through to the screen where you choose what disk to install Mac OS X but my hard drive is not there.  The only two choices are my Boot Camp partition and "Mac OS X Install ESD," which I assume is the partition Lion created to boot off of.
So I go back to Disk Utility - it tells me that my Mac drive is not mounted.  I cannot mount it manually by right-clicking.  I also try repairing disk, which takes some time after finding numerous errors and tells me the drive "cannot be repaired after 3 tries."
I can still boot to my Windows partition, from which I am typing this now, but I can no longer boot to Snow Leopard (holding alt at the home screen only gives me the installer and Windows as bootable options.
Hopefully others are having similar experience or have some idea that would not involve me wiping my hard drive.  I just got the computer two weeks ago so having to restart would not be the end of the world, but obviously is not optimal.
Thanks in advance for all your help, and let me know if any other information would be helpful to diagnose the problem.
    Bryant

    Hello CRG37,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • I installed Lion, now my dvd drive doesn't recognize any files on dvd. Please help.

I'm a photographer with tons on images on dvd and my dvd drive now doesn't recognize any files on any of my dvd's. Help!!!

After 3 trips to the Apple store this week, the issue is still unresolved. The photo dvd's open just fine on Snow Leopard, but are not recognized at all on Lion. I'm guessing since the DVD's were originally burned on a PC, they will no longer work. After finding out that PowerPC is no longer recognized by Lion and I can no longer use Nikon NX2 (Photo editing software), I will be re-installing Snow Leopard. According to the Apple store in Lancaster, Pa. there is no refund available for my Lion purchase. I have a ton of photo DVD's, most of which will not open since I've only recently switched to an IMAC system. It has made me think about returning to the PC world. I'm VERY unhappy with these developments and I really need to re-think my computer situation. I don't do much else besides photography. My purchases and time spent with my IMAC has aparently been a great waste.

  • Upgraded my macbook to lion now pages is gone

I upgraded my MacBook pro to lion and the word program pages is gone.

Are you 100% sure it was still there when you did the upgrade?
Use the spotlight to search for either the app. Did you perhaps have it installed only for a different account to use?

  • I downloaded and installed Lion now i can't find the file to burn

Does anyone know where the file is after you install the lion update. I want to burn it to disk but can't find it anywhere

why ? it is a fact.
The "install Mac OS X lion.app" is only a virtual folder, inside this folder ( right-click and "show package contents" ) you will find the real installation files and a hidden file, which contains the base system dmg ).
The net is full of instructions on how cou can create a bootable drive with the files inside the app.
After Lion has been installed from within Snow Leopartd it is too late, that's not rude to say that you should have taken care of that before..
At least what you are now experience is how Apple has invented the install process : One time launch within Snow.
some time later  ( next month or so ) Apple will sell bootable USB drives with Lion for all those that have no Internet. Your second chance, then.
