Installed location for CrystalReports10_NET_EmbeddedReporting.msm merge module?

I'm installing the CrystalReports10_NET_EmbeddedReporting.msm merge module. In a typical installation, this puts a bunch of files in:
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\
However, in different environments, such as some Terminal Server setups, the files may get installed to a different location.<!break> How can I tell, programmatically, where these files will be or have been installed? The merge module 'decides' for itself, and I don't know how it determines where those files go and therefore, how to find them programmatically, at run time.

The files will always get installed under the "program files" directory. One way to check for the actual path is to look in the registry;
HKLM\software\crystal decisions\10.0\crystal reports
Look for the "Common files path". If you install on the "C" drive, the path will be c:\program files\common files\crystal decisions\2.5\bin.

    The registry method does not work with 8.1.  I found this out the hard way.  Doing it on 8.1 will leave you reinstalling the OS if you didn't do a SRP beforehand.

  • I'm unable to change my install location for my apps.

    I'm unable to change my install location for my apps. I changed the preferences to the harddrive I want the apps to download to, but they keep trying to download to C.I don't have enough room on that drive

    Fixed. It seems like for whatever reason it took a good 10 - 15 minutes for it to recognize the changes in the preference menu

  • Customize install location for Creative Cloud

    I have exactly the same issue. I did download the log analyzer and ran it - but it reported no issues?
    What is intresting is that I access this from the cloud and have configured all apps to be downloaded to a download directory. On my windows 7 start menu - if I run speedgrade - it tries to run a version in that download directory. Howvever I checked my program files directory and see a copy of speedgrade in there too. If I run that be double clicking it - it runs without issue.
    I originally thought the download area was a temporary holding area for cloud installs - so I'm suprised my start menu is configured to run from that loacation (and that the download location contains uncompressed files). I must have set up something incorrectly during the initial instal.
    Can I delete these Adobe  files in my download area?

    I have branched this to a new discussion as it appeared that your primary concern seemed to be regarding the install location.  Depending on the application installed there maybe shared components still installed in the Program Files directory.  To customize the installation location you will want to open the Adobe Application Manager, from your Start Menu, and go to Preference to select a different installation location.
    For the Start Menu it just contains shortcuts to the different applications.
    Finally if you are receiving an error on launch but your install logs do not report an error then the installation was likely successful.  It is likely that you are running into another issue which is causing your current difficulty.  I would recommend posting/searching for the error in the forum related to that specific application.

  • UPK Install - location for library on a PC (single user version)

    Am setting up UPK 11.1 on a laptop (document library will be there). When I start up the Developer client, the system prompts for the address of the library. It is on the C drive of the PC, but when I enter the path to the library, I see an "Invalid Location Format" error. I have set UPK up on a laptop before; I just can not remember how to locate the spot for the library on the PC.

    Hi Robert,
    This may be an extremely asinine question, but which installation option did you select when installing UPK 11.1 on your laptop?
    There are 4 options (applicable to developer other than Knowledge Center) and some people do confuse them sometimes:
    1. Developer Client
    2. Server
    3. Server and Client
    4. Single User Install
    You should be selecting option 4 - Single User Install. To me, it sounds like you installed the Developer Client (which is used in multi-user environments) to connect to a UPK server (where the library resides on the database).
    When UPK asks you for the library location, does it gove you an example of the format it requires (i.e. https://server/virtual directory)? If this is the case, then you most certainly have the incorrect "developer" option installed. When creating a new profile in UPK, you are requested to define the library location (whether in a single or multi-user environment). For a single environment you can define any local folder, and for a multi-user install, you will define the virtual directory as defined in the server installation of UPK.
    Try and re-install using the Single User Install option and see how it goes?
    Hope you get sorted!

  • Install directory / install location for PC Companion (2.1)

    Hi folks. Is anyone able to tell me how I can change PC Companion to install to a directory of my choosing?
    It defaulted to my (nearly full) SSD C drive? I looked for Advanced option (or even basic options!) in the installer but couldn't find anything. Thanks Retne

    Hmm, so I've tried adding then changing the %ProgramFiles% environment variable and changed the ProgramFilesDir, ProgramFilesDir (x86) and ProgramW6432Dir variables in the registry and it still puts the app on the C drive. I'm starting to think it may actually be hardcoded! Or the guys are using a different environment variable to get the system drive or somehting. Right, after limited time spent with Process Explorer, it wasn't obvious during install. If you happen to be able to ask the programmers what it's using that would be great, but not sure if that's possible for you. Ah, also found shortcuts on desktop without being asked. Annoying. Anyway, thanks for all the help R

  • Merge modules for Business Objects XI service pack 4

    I am in the process of developing a deployment package in Installshield 2009 - Basic MSI Project.  I tried adding the merge modules I downloaded earlier from the web page, http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/runtime.asp
    Currently I do not see this web page.  It would be nice if you could tell me whether do we have a merge module for Crystal Reports XI service pack 4.  If we have where from i can download them.  Thank you

    Thanks a lot for the immediate response.  However, I am not using the crystal reports Version, R2 release.
    I had actually installed Business Object XI and applied service pack 4 on it.  I checked the version in Help->About. It is 11.0.0.
    Also my environment is XP Sp2, Visual studio 2003 and Visual studio 6.0.  I understand that R2 release is needed if the environment is Visual Studio 2005.
    I would like to give a clear picture of the issue I work through.
    After deploying the software in the client machine, I came to know that  when client tried to print the embedded crystal report (.dsr file) from CrViewer,
    1. Page set-up dialog bog gets displayed.
    2. After clicking 'OK' button in the page set-up dialog box, nothing happens.  It is suppose to bring print dialog.
    I simulated this in my development machine (confirmed that Print dialog is is not getting displayed when 'OK' button is clicked from 'Page setup' dialog)
    I researched and found out from some web page that if Business Objects XI is updated to Service pack 4, this issue gets resolved
    So i applied service pack 4 in my dev. machine and tested the functionality by clicking 'OK' button.  This issue is no more.
    Next logical step is to propagate the sp4 changes to the installer.  I searched for the merge modules corresponding to Business Objects XI - service pack 4.  I could not locate it now.
    I searched my backup folder,  I located some previously downloaded merge modules downloaded from  the web page, http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/runtime.asp
    I tried to include these merge modules and received an error message "Internal build error" .  My research revealed that inclusion of the merge module,  CrystalReports11_RDC_Reportengine.msm  (43,306 Kb, 7/4/2007) throws "Internal build error"  during compilation of MSI project in Installshield 2009.
    Any idea, tips and help to resolve the issue would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Problem installing with merge module

    I use CR Developer, Product Type Full, version 11.5.8.826.
    I use it to design RPT files that use XML and XSD files as data sources.
    I deploy these RPT files to client machines that also run a web enabled app I developed using ASP.NET v.2
    I built an installer with the CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm merge module.
    However, when I install on a clean client machine with the MSI I created I get some weird database access error in the Crystal Reportviewer that's embedded in my ASP.NET webpage.
    When I then install the entire CR Developer product on the client machine everything works fine.
    So clearly, the merge module I use does not install and register all the files required to make my product work. Am I using the wrong merge module? Should I be using the four RDC merge modules?
    It's clearly not acceptable to have install the entire CR Developer app. Also, I saw another thread where they were talking about copying the entire C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\3.5\bin directory to the client machine. That cannot be an acceptable solution either, right?
    I need a definitive answer how to deploy the correct runtime environment to make my RPT files correctly run using the Report viewer in my web pages.
    To be clear, I do NOT use VS.NET 2005 to develop my RPT files. I do not use anything built into Visual Studio to build my RPT files. The only interaction with .NET is that I have a Reportviewer object embedded in one ASP.NET web page that visualizes the RPT files I previously created using the CR Developer app.
    This is from my web.config file:
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    This is the aspx from the web page that shows the report viewer:
    <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true"
        CodeFile="ReportPage.aspx.cs" Inherits="Paladin_CReports.ReportPage" Title="Paladin Reports - Crystal Reports - Report" %>
    <%@ Register Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"
        Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" TagPrefix="CR" %>
    <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="Server">
        <asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" Height="28px" Style="z-index: 100; left: 0px;
            position: absolute; top: 148px" Width="1014px">
            <CR:CrystalReportViewer ID="CrystalReportViewer1" runat="server" AutoDataBind="true"
                DisplayGroupTree="False"
                Style="z-index: 120; left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px" HasCrystalLogo="False"
                EnableDrillDown="False" HasDrillUpButton="False" HasToggleGroupTreeButton="False"
                HasViewList="False" ShowAllPageIds="True" HasRefreshButton="True" />
        </asp:Panel>
    </asp:Content>
    I need a definitive answer how to deploy the correct runtime environment to make my RPT files correctly run using the Report viewer in my web pages.

    Hi,
    Give a try to five read permissions to IIS_WPG for the temp folder which is under your account(In case of web application) and in case of windows app give read permission to a user for c:\windows\temp and to the folder which contains crystal reports.
    Need more info?
    What meerge module you have downloaded?
    Right merge modules are [here|http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/runtime.asp#06]
    Note if appliaction uses RDC only then you need to install RDC merge modules.
    Windows or web application?
    Are you changing the XML schema?
    Hope this help!!

  • What merge module and/or drivers necessary to deploy app with CWNumEdit, CWGPIB, CWSerial, and CWButton

    Thank you to Johnathan for getting me this far.  I am the person who is trying to build and deploy an app
    onto another machine, of which i do not know what is on it.  I got my app to build and now i'm creating an
    installer and adding merge modules based on the help....when i run the app on the target machine, it
    still says "An unsupported operation was attempted".  I am assuming that i still need more merge modules
    and/or drivers...and i don't know which.  I am guessing the controls that still aren't "supported" are the
    ones that are from visual studio 6 support.....I am guessing that these controls are:
    CWNumEdit, CWGPIB, CWSerial, and CWButton.
    Could someone help me and point me in the right direction if i need to install drivers for these and/or
    what merge  modules they are contained in?
    THANK YOU!!
    K

    Hi KBr,
    If you are using any ActiveX UI components (like CWNumEdit, CWButton) you need to include the CWUI_OCX.msm merge module as well as the NIMesaDLL.msm and nimetautils.msm.  Those merge modules you can find in the [Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules\] directory. The CWSerial and CWGPIB ActiveX controls are part of the cwinstr.ocx file located on the Measurement Studio CD as you have already found.
    When building an installer, you can simply add the cwinstr.ocx file to your setup application, and specify that it should be register when installed. You just click on the cwinstr.ocx file once its part of the setup project and then configure the Register field in the Properties Window.

  • Merge module and additional directories

    I am trying to install crystal runtime on a client machine.
    I am using the CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm merge module.
    I have opened the module using orca and set InstallViewerVirtualDir to 0 in the property table and the moduleconfiguration table. ( and of course set my key )
    I put the merge module into my installation package and ran the install.
    I am getting a bunch of subdirectories I do not need. ( I am not running the reports from the html viewer )
    The subdir's are css, html, images, js, and prompting.
    I downloaded the latest stuff as far as i can tell ( crxir2_fp44_net_mm.zip )
    How can I turn off the installation of these files.

    I don't know if you really understand yet.
    Nothing in my application nothing at all uses the html css, etc.. files.
    The report server does not.
    My application does not.
    If i was calling the report server to display my reports, i could understand. Or if I was viewing the reports in my application in the html viewer. But I am not.
    The report server ( it is a web service - my web service nothing to do with your report servers) only opens the rpt file and gets information from them to give to my windows form app ( it never displays a single report ).
    My windows app does view the report. But it does so in the activex control. Not in the web control. It does not need the cab files from the server, everything is installed during setup.
    I don't care if you install every dll you guys make on my clients computer.
    Dll's are understandable, and can't be messed with and clients understand. What I don't like is have 5 or so folders under my windows forms application that contains css, html and image files.
    These are just messy and un-needed. Plus more update headaches.
    I guess this is really not a big issue.
    I just don't understand why a windows forms app has to include all the html files that a web application would need.
    Oh well the install does work, and I am not going to go through all the mess that I have had in the past trying to figure out which dlls need to be copied and registered like I have had to do for years. So I guess it is better than it used to be, even if my computer is cluttered with useless files.
    I hope I don't sound mad, because I am not. I have used CR for 10+ years now, and I like the product. I just would like to see some improvements on the msm.
    Thanks for your response.
    I really do appreciate it.

  • Does the latest SP4 merge modules include all previous fixes?

    Hi All,
    First time on here so hopefully I'm posting to the correct location!!
    The reason I am asking this is because we installed SP4 on a development machine and it fixed a bug where margin information set at runtime was being lost. We have since rolled back the SP4 install and downloaded the latest merge modules (labelled SP4) and the fix isnu2019t applied when we once again attempt to build our application.
    PC is running VS 2010, Any ideas?

    Hello Nigel,
    Ideally, the "service pack" version of the merge modules will match the service pack for fixes. Differences normally doesn't happen very often, but it is possible. There may be other issues in play here.
    If I read your post correctly you said that when you applied SP 4 to your development machine the "issue" went away, but that you then removed SP4 and applied just the merge modules to your development machine and the "issue" returned. This is not a valid test. Merge modules should never be used on a development machine as a path for applying patches, fixes, or updating the Visual Studio IDE. It is expected that you would install the full service pack onto your development machine.
    You've also indicated that you're using VS2010. Crystal Reports 2008 isn't supported for application development with VS2010. The supported version of Crystal Reports is CR for VS2010. CR2008 isn't expected to integrate into your VS2010 environment. This means that there's no channel for trying to find out why the SP4 merge modules are "different" from SP4 itself. The environment itself may be contributing to the issue, but there's really no way to know. This would have to be duplicated in a supported environment (e.g. VS2008 with CR2008) before any issues could be addressed.
    For reference you can visit the "[Which Crystal Reports assembly versions are supported in which versions of Visual Studio .NET|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/WhichCrystalReportsassemblyversionsaresupportedinwhichversionsofVisualStudio+.NET]" wiki to see which versions of Crystal Reports are supported in the various versions of Visual Studio.

  • Invalid GUID Strings in RDC Report Engine Merge Module

    The "CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Reportengine.msm" merge module for Crystal Reports XI R2 SP6 contains some invalid GUID strings that cause validation errors for installers that include that merge module.  Basically, there are three components in the merge module whose component ID GUIDs contain lower-case characters, and these lower-case characters violate Windows Installer rules as the characters should be all upper-case.  These three component ID GUIDs are {C3122AE7-7812-4ab7-8187-4AFA5C3FB819}, {5CCE2FBC-BC46-4fb0-91FE-10FBA2C713DE}, and {C9105D9E-BCCD-45c1-B0B1-BB8D2382D12A}.  To see the validation errors, open the merge module in Microsoft's Orca tool and run the validation command using the "Merge Module Validation Suite" option.  There will be three ICE03 validation errors with messages like "Invalid GUID string (Be sure GUID is all UPPER case)..."
    This problem seems to have been introduced in the CR XI R2 SP6 version of this merge module, as prior versions did not appear to suffer from it.  I also checked the CR XI R2 SP6 Fix Pack 6.1 version of the merge module, and it too has the same problem.
    Will the problem be fixed in the next version (Fix Pack 6.2?) of the merge module?
    Thanks

  • Crystal 11.5 runtime deployment required merged modules and minimum size

    I have some deployment restrictions. The 11.5 runtime merged modules are about 80mb, which is very large for use.
    1. Are all merged modules required? It seems as if not all of them are needed. Can I get a list of the required ones?
    2. Is there anyway to minimize the deployment? Either through the msmu2019s or by breaking them apart?
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi, John;
    The only supported method of deploying our runtime files is to use the merge modules. All of them are required, except for the Mapping merge module, which would only be used if you are using the Mapping feature.
    There is no way to decrease the size of the deployment.
