Installed Mavericks, now HP scanner psc 235 can't save scans

Cool. This works! Awesome.
Some difficulty with it at first as the scan size is set to custom 0x0 by default. However, all up and running now.
This has saved me the cost of a new scanner.

If all your files are missing
You may have logged in as a different user, such as Guest. Open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. Your name should be at the top of the user list, under Current User. See also this support article.
If files are missing from one folder
Change the Finder view mode; for example, from icon view to list view, or vice versa.

Are you using the YouTube widget in iWeb?  If so it doesn't work any more. Not since MobileMe was discontinued.
You need to get the full embed code from YouTube and use the standard HTML snippet.

  • Installed new HD on Mid-2009 MBP, installed Mavericks, now getting "error code -50" after being on for a while.

So I had the stock 320gb drive that came with my machine. It started crashing, so I pre-empted the loss of data and installed a spare Western Digital 500gb Scorpio Blue drive, installed Mavericks, and restored my data. Almost immediately I began having sporadic issues with the machine being unable to write to the disk, giving me "error code -50" after being on for about a day or so. I usually just restart and it will work for another day or so, but this is getting very tedious, and I'm a bit worried it might be straining the machine, since I can only hard restart (holding power button) when this happens. Usually, right after restarting, I repair the disk permissions, and this seems to fix things.
Is this maybe a bad OS install? Maybe I should back up and try it all again? Or is there a software issue I'm not seeing a solution for anywhere? Most people who are getting the "error code -50" messages seem to be getting them on external drives. Is it just a compatibility issue and I need to seek a new drive?

    Thank you for the tips!

you could try the same thing as well.
In my case I doubt it is the problem because it worked fine before Mavericks, although forcing restart may have done something. I hope disabling SMS helped.

  • Installed Maverick, now Macbook Pro will not boot in normal or safe mode. UPSET!

Hello to anyone who can be of help to me. I have been without my 2008 Macbook Pro for months due to installing Maverick. After installing it, within a day or two, it crashed and now will not reboot in normal mode or sade mode. I've never had any problems from this computer until now.
I don't know much about Macs and I can't fix this. I also live over an hour away from any Apple store. I feel this is Apple's fault and I am pretty upset that this has happened to my laptop.
I understand this to be a Kernal Panic or something like that, which happens after installing a program, like Maverick. I have tried erasing the PRAM and still won't reboot in either mode. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get! Thanks! I love Apple. I am not bashing them, I just don't appreciate their software messing up my lappy.

    Consider reinstalling the original OSX.

  • Installed Maverick, now my Henge Dock doesn't connect

Yesterday I installed Mavericks onto my Macbook Air.  Today when I inserted my Air into the Henge Docks HDO1VB11MBA it would not create a screen image from my Air to my Apple Cinema Display.  Is Mavericks incompatible with the Henge Docks?  When I plugged my computer directly to the screen it worked sucessfully as before Mavericks install.

Certainly if there was an issue then the maker of the dock would be well aware by now. They also would be the first place to go find a possible solution. I suggest you present the situation to their support department and see if there are any known issues with Mavericks.

  • I installed number and shows as purchased but can't save documents why?

when I commend for save,  there is message " can't save on trial buy serial number, so I installed ,purchased, but still can't save

You're getting the request for a serial number that means that at some time you had the iWork ’09 trial installed. You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user. The easist way to fix the problem is to use Yvan Koenig's AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.
Apple's support article on the subject says it's due to having a copy of the trial that is a higher version that the one you've purchased, but I'm not sure that is very common. This problem started with Snow Leopard & it seems to be some code in the iWork installers that doesn't do what it should.

  • Recently installed Maverick, now InDesign 5.5 won't open. I have installed Java 6 as some have recommended, deleted preferences, rebooted computer (AirBook), still not working.

I see others have had the same issues, but the only solution suggested, to install Java Runtime 6 hads not solved it for me. InDesign still crashes at startup.

Java is now at 7, update 45, try that by going to Apple Menu --> System Preferences --> Java, a separate window opens, click the  Update-tab.
InDesign works perfect in my setup with mavericks on an early 2009 MBP.

  • [SOLVED]Installed XFCE, now have a disabled display, can't get it back

First thing I tried to do after installing XFCE was change the screen res to match my monitor. The display dialog had two screens showing - one labeled 'laptop', and the other 'Viewsonic bla'. As this is not a laptop, and my screen is indeed the Viewsonic bla, I unchecked the 'Use this display' option next to 'Laptop'.
My screen then went black, and will not come back. There was no countdown 'Do you want to keep these settings' dialog, although I guess there might have been (the screen was blank) and possibly I accidentally told it 'yes' in my blind flailings. What I meant to do was press Esc, but I may have pressed some button previously that activated a 'Yes' option. Or maybe there is no double-check dialog at all! Either way, I can't get XFCE to show up any more. Rebooting the machine doesn't work - the screen just shuts down saying 'No signal'
To fix this I've decided to reinstall XFCE. Is it enough to just run pacman -S xfce4 again, or is there another command line option to do a reinstall? Also, what about config files? I can see no dot files or directories in my home folder that could be XFCE related. Thanks.

On my machine, there are XFCE related settings stored in ~/.config/xfce4 and ~/.config/xfce4-session etc

  • Installed Mavericks - Now Dreamweaver CC has slowed to a Crawl

Dreamweaver's poor performance under Mavericks is causing me enormous problems.
I have wasted many hours trying to find a solution, and even more waiting for Dreamweaver to respond to the simplest of changes/additions to HTML/CSS.
It seems that Apple's apparent generosity in providing Mavericks as a Free Upgrade is, in reality, Apple covering it's back for creating an 'upgrade' that is not fit for purpose.
Are there any solutions available, or on the immediate horizon?  Such as disabling App Nap in it's entirity?
Or, is best to take a retrograde step and reinstall Mountain Lion?
Very disappointing behaviour on your part, Apple!

RogerOut -- Every comment you've made on this issue has been of little use, and only serves to be argumentitive.  How are any of your comments working to resolve the issue?
"Ever thought of doing a Google search?"  Well, yes -- I think most people start with Google.  Cutting-edge, or unique issues may not, however, show up in a Google search (at least, not on the first few pages -- even Google crawlers take time to index new posts).  But someone has to be the first to post a question.  Would you also berate that first person for posting a question?  And the link you supplied does not solve the issue of Dreamweaver being sluggish.  The problem they had was a swap-space/drive issue -- which could have affected multiple applications that rely on that kind of swap space.  Besides, your comment suggests that the link you provided was easy to find and was the solution to the problem.  You've failed to realize that there may be a lot of problems at play... and a lot of ways to resolve different problems that might have similar-looking symptoms, but that are not related otherwise.  For example, I have a problem with Dreamweaver CC (even after the new December 18, 2013 patch) -- it is excessively sluggish, constantly runs 35-55% of CPU, even when idle, and often times freezes.  I've been using Dreamweaver CS5.5 instead, as it works just fine under Mavericks.
My Dreamweaver problem has yet to be solved.  I've tried uninstalling AIR, I've tried removing the Creative Cloud application manager from the menu, and a host of other suggested "fixes" posted on various pages -- including the page that you linked to as the "Ever thought of doing a Google search?" end-all-be-all fix.  Didn't work for me.... so my quest continues.
Please be more considerate when responding to people on help forums.

  • Installed Mavericks, now rMBP reboots once every time I log in

    Here are my system specs:
    rMBP 15inch,
2 equal partitions, both have file vault enabled on them, each with a different password.  One partition is 10.8.5 and the other is obviously Mavericks.
This is what I am doing:
    1)  I am logged into 10.8.5.  I go into system preferences, select startup disk, and choose my Mavericks disk.  I then have to authenticate with the password for that partition, then I click reboot.
    2)  The rMBP reboots and uses the Mavericks partition as the boot disk.  It presents me with the screen where I select my username and type in my password.  I do so, and I see the spinning gray "donut" indicating something is occurring.
    3)  At this point, after a few seconds, the system completely reboots and goes back to step 2.  The only difference is that it fully boots this time.
Any ideas as to what is happening and if I need to fix something?  Thanks!

    Hi,
I have tried the suggested solutions found on the forum but I am also struggling to solve the same issue
    1) 'Integrated Windows authentication' is ticked within IIS Osoft security authentication settings
    2) SOX compliance is disabled within Server Manger Client options
    3) But both 'Save password' and 'Use my microsoft Windows user id and password' are greyed out in Connection wizard
    Background
    a) I have restored a production v5 system into a v7.0 test environment and carried out the upgrade steps
    b) Both production and test environments have the same settings as above but production does not suffer from the same problem
    c) The domains and users in the test environment are not the same as the production environment so I added the new users into the restored app set and assigned the relevant security settings
    d) The restored appset is generally working fine in v7.0 in test
Do you think this migration/upgrade has anything to do with the problems I'm having even though my settings are correct?
    Any help would be appreciated
I am also unfamiliar with how changing registry settings will help as suggested by another member - would be grateful if someone could explain and provide steps.
    Many thanks
    Phil
