Installed new hard drive now iTunes will not load my purchases on my iPod

I installed a new hard drive on my computer and successfully transferred all my files to the new hard drive. The first time I tried to sync my iPod a message appeared that my iPod would have to be reformatted to operate with this version of Windows.
Now, iTunes recognizes my iPod but during the update an error message displayed indicating my iTunes purchases were prohibited from being loaded on my iPod and removed the purchases I originally had on my iPod.
How do I get iTunes to include my purchases when syncing my iPod?

Thank you Patrick. You solved my problem. Just checked it out and I now have my purchases on my iPod. Only annoying thing was I had to authenticate my computer a couple of times.

Installed new DVD drive, now iBook will not charge

Hi guys,
I'm a long-time Mac user, and this is the first time I've had any problems so I'm new to this board. I had a bit of a look around, both on this forum and the FAQs, and this appears to be a unique problem.
Basically, for a while my iBook CD drive was spitting out CDs, as per a common problem which I was not able to resolve. Eventually the tray broke and it would not click back into place, and so I was left with an iBook with a CD tray constantly popped out.
I ordered a new DVD drive/burner that claimed it would fit an iBook, and when it arrived I pulled apart my laptop and installed it. Everything appeared to be in order, until I tried to plug in the AC adaptor.
The orange light goes on for about 10-15 seconds, then slowly fades away to nothing. If I unplug and plug it back in straight away, I get no light and no charge. If I wait 15 minutes, the orange light goes back on but once again fades after a short period of time.
My first thought is that perhaps the DVD drive is incompatible/drawing too much power, but I can't figure out how this would affect the charger, and why the problem would persist whether the power is on or off.
Has anyone encountered a problem like this? I don't hold much hope that this will be fixed without expensive surgery, but I'd like to try

Hi Ronda, thanks for the response. I've pulled it apart a couple of times and have put it back together via the instructions I downloaded on the internet both times, and have had the same problem. To be honest, I can't answer that! I'll have to pull it apart this afternoon again to check.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that iTunes is not opening after uninstalling and re-installing it. When iTunes is uninstalled on a Windows computer, all of its components must be removed as well and they must be removed in a specific order. Below is the article for uninstalling on Windows 7. I recommend uninstalling iTunes and all components in order and reinstalling fresh.

Transferred songs to external hard drive, now iTunes can not locate files??

I transferred all my song files using various tutorials on the site, I consolidated my library, etc. The external harddrive was referred to as "F:" when I did this.
Later when I downloaded a few podcasts with my external HD disconnected, they were stored on my c: harddrive. At that point I had iTunes files on both my C: drive and F: drive (with the F: drive being disconnected at the time).
Now my external harddrive when connected is referred to as "G:" by my pc, and iTunes could not find any of my songs previously transferred to F:. I went to preferences/advanced again and selected G:/iTunes as my new folder location, and now only SOME of my songs are located by iTunes, not all. I'm completely confused.
Any advice? Thanks.

Just a refining comment: iTunes recognizes some, but not all, songs that were transferred to the new hard drive, following iTune's instructions to change the directory then consolidate the library.
I am baffled why iTunes recognizes some songs, but not others, within the same folder....
The easy solution would be to use "import folder" and re-import the entire iTunes files on my harddrive, and then delete the duplicates, which would include the ones non-findable by iTunes. But then my playlists would be affected. I guess I'd have to re-build my playlists manually, using the new imported files in place of the files that iTunes can't recognize, prior to deleting all the duplicate non-findable files.
Argh, I hate pc's...thru & thru...any suggestions before I spend a few hours re-building my playlists and deleting the non-findable song files??

ITunes updated this morning (9/20/2012) to a new version. Now iTunes will not start...anyone else having this problem?

This morning iTunes was updated to the newest version. Now iTunes will not open...it attempts to access the iTunes store and fails. This is only happening on my fiancee's computer...not mine. And it works with other user accounts on her computer, so it's got to be something specific to her. I've tried opening in safe mode and uninstalling/reinstalling with no luck. Is this happening to anyone else? And how do I fix this?

I have been a big fan of Apple but now its getting sour.
I don't know what kind of QA people Apple have started recruiting. They cant even test the Product on different environments.
I have been facing problems since iOS 6 upgrade.

Just installed new hard drive yet it's not picking it up.

A few days ago I couldn't figure out why my MacBook wouldn't get past the white start up screen. I found that it was caused because my hard drive was dead. I went out and picked up a new hard drive. I just installed it. No problems getting it installed. But I've put in my os cd to install it on my new hard drive. It starts up, goes to the walkthough for installation, yet again it won't recognize that I've installed a new drive. It's just like before and not finding it. What could be causing this??

Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When the formatting is completed quit DU to return to the installer. You may now install OS X.

Moved music to new hard drive now itunes can't find songs !

This is what I did. My old hard drive was getting full so I bought an additional hard drive and installed it. I then selected all the music in the itunes music folder, copied it, then pasted it into a new folder on the new hard drive. I changed the settings in itunes to direct to the new hard drive. All the music i put in there now has exclamation points next to it and can't access the music? Help. I'm desperate....

Different problem. - probably same answer. Yesterday I started iTunes and I had exclamation points on about 20 of my tunes. I re-linked them all manually. I am new to iTunes but I believe I am beginning to understand that unless all the sources are in one library they 'may' get unlinked from time to time. I am going to assume that all of your tunes are linked to a source that no longer exists. So they are all now unlinked.
What I would like to know is how to restore those links. I am going to make another assumtion. Since I believe that iTunes loaded most of them when I first started using iTunes, there is a way to force it to do that again. I have no problem with putting all of my tunes in one library. I know that others have posted the desire to store and link tunes in multiple libraries, and there is a Consoldiate Option that says it will consolidate all of your tunes into one libary. It doesn't work. So how do you force iTunes to relink your files, in or out of the same library?

Installed New Hard Drive, Now Can't Install Snow Leopard

Hi All,
Had to install a new hard drive in my system (15" MacBook Pro Early 2010 Model), so I followed the instructions to put in the drive and that worked just fine. Now I need to reinstall Snow Leopard, which isn't working. Here's what I've tried...
1) Boot from the install disc by holding down the "C" key when powering on the system. I hear the drive spin for a little bit, but then it stops spinning and nothing else happens...I just get the Apple logo.
2) Made a bootable USB drive using directions found online. Plugged that bad boy in, held the "Option" key down, and powered on. Got the option to choose the drive as my boot drive. Selected that, and nothing happens. Just get the Apple logo again.
Any thoughts on what I need to do next? Never experienced such a thing.

New Hard drive in NTFS--will not mount on Mac

I have a 3rd Gen ipod with a dead 30g hard drive. I bought a 40g Toshiba that came formatted in NTFS. I installed the new hard drive and tried to run updater, but the ipod will not mount on a Mac Powerbook G4.
The ipod shows that it is charging and says "Disk Mode," has a check mark on the screen and says "OK to disconnect"
I have always used a Mac and I do NOT have access to a PC to reformat it there (at least not that I know of).
How do I force the Mac to see my ipod with the new drive? Oh wise and powerful Mac wizards, help me!
PS If this is a really simple thing to fix, please be gentle. I still use my IIsi and enjoy playing Civilization 1. The G4 belongs to a roommate.

To recap:

It was stuck here for hours and then it finally managed to mount. (it might have been after a reset, I don't remember).
I ran iPod updater and RESTOREd the hard drive. It asked for a new name, language, etc. iTunes opened and I recopied some of my music back onto the iPod. I ejected the iPod safely and copied some more music from an external drive onto my main machine.
When I tried to reconnect the iPod, it went back in to disk mode, check mark, ok to disconnect, etc and there it has been for 26 hours.
I cannot even get iPod updater to find it.
What the heck is going on?

Installed new hard drive now I can't get OS to install from recovery disks.

I have a HP Pavilion g4. I had to install a new hard drive into my laptop. I ordered the system recovery disks from HP directly. Windows 8 is the OS. I was on the first disk when a box popped up. The top of the box says Reducer. Then theres a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and next to that it says Copy File Fails. Then under that it says From: E:\PRELOAD\BASE2.SWM TO: C:\RM\Image\BASE2.SWM Press OK to retry. I pressed ok to retry but nothing happens. On the screen behind it its blue with a black Recovery Manager box. It says Factory image recovery preparations and theres 3 steps under it. The 1st one is checked and it says Reformatting the Windows partition of the hard drive. The 2nd line also has a checked box and it says Copying files required to restore the hard drive. The 3rd line has the box NOT checked and it says Restoring files to hard drive. Then the progress is stopped at 20%. It went all the way to 100% during the 1st line where its reformatting. Then even though the 2nd line is checked thats where it stopped at the 20%. Sorry so long but im trying to be as thorough as possible. I havent found any answers and Ive called HP already with no solution. I hope someone can help!!

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to recovery Windows after replacing the HDD in your g4 notebook. Don't worry about writing a long post. It's better to have too much than not enough.
Can you please tell me the size, type, and manufacturer of the HDD you've installed in the notebook? If the drive you installed is smaller than the original drive the recovery can fail as it's built to format and partition the drive for the recovery and operating system partitions at a certain size. Many user's aren't aware of this and experience failures when attempting to recover to new drives, especially when trying to install SSDs.
If you haven't attempted the recovery a second time from scratch please try that when you get a chance.

Didn't eject my external hard drive now it will not reconnect

I just got my MacBook Air, been using a PC up until now. Earlier this morning I plugged in my external hard drive and transfered some music onto my MacBook Air. When I removed my external hard drive I didn't not eject it, now when I plug it in my MacBook does not even see it. I tried different hard drives and I can see them. I even tried using that hard drive on my old PC and it works. How do I get my MacBook to recognize the hard drive again? Still new to the whole MacBook experience.

Utilities - Terminal
Type: diskutil list to find your drive (mine is disk2s2)
Unmount the drive: diskutil unmount /dev/disk2s2
Mount the drive: diskutil mount /dev/disk2s2
The drive immediately appeared on my desktop allowing full access with no damaged files or corrupt disk.

Installed new hard drive, and it is not detected by disk utility.

Tried 2 other hard drives with same result. Original hard drive (failing) is detected normally. Mountain Lion can install and boot if hard drive is in external enclosure. But once hard drive is installed into MacBook Pro, the system does not detect it. It has been formatted as a GUID partition, and the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) file system. I'm at a loss as to why this isn't working. I've tried everything I can think of.

I replaced an old Itouch with a new one, and now Itunes will not recognize the new one.

I recently replaced my old I Touch with a new one. Now I cannot get Itunes to recognize it in my library.

i have tried using disk utility to set up the HFS on the new drive but it is not visible. Tried starting it in Target mode and using disk utility from my ImacG5
but it still is not visible.

probably the drive is not connected properly or defective.
the only thing left is to check the conenctions, and if that does not solve the problem then try another drive
