"installed" new Logitech V270 BT mouse, now other mouse settings  ignored

I have been using a Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks (USB adapter) at work. Rather than carry the mouse home, I recently bought a Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse and set it up at home. Now, at work, the settings for my USB wireless mouse are being ignored. Worse, the settings that I configured for my BT mouse are not being applied to my USB mouse (lefty settings).
So, how do I undo this mess? Why is OS X not distinguishing between these two mice? Do I HAVE to use one of Apple's mice (which design I can't stand)?
Any suggestions?

My situation or set-up is remarkably similar to yours. I do most of my work on the PB in various locations with different mice- lefty as well. I am using an alternative, shareware OverSteer to modify and control 3 Logitechs: BT V270, RF V400 and wired Marble Mouse trackball. The flexibility of setting and using the available buttons is well worth it to me. The mouse controls in System Preferences are still functional. Download the trial and see if it helps.

  • Logitech V270 BT mouse - I'm not satisfied

Friday I bought a Logitech V270 BT mouse. As I already own a wireless apple keyboard, my idea was to get a BT mouse so that I don't have to use an additional USB-receiver. The wireless mighty mouse hasn't convinced me because the button selection by the sensors isn't much working fine. So I decided to buy a V270 and I must say that this device is a big disappointment! The awakening time from energy saving mode is about 0.5 seconds. This is definitely too much! Furthermore the tracking is very bad. I tried several surfaces and never I got a smooth tracking, although the mouse got a 1000dpi resolution. While booting the mouse delays the start of the wireless keyboard which makes me wait for logging in. This all is not acceptable to me.
So, why do I write all this? I want to tell everybody who intends to buy this mouse to think it over if he can live with this limitations. As I spent about two days for searching a suitable BT mouse I was very disappointed. Also I found nearly no hints about this limitations in the internet forums.
I finally brought it back to store and got a MX610 which works fine! A smooth and save tracking, perfect anatomical fit and a short, hardly noticable wakening time from energy saving mode. This is a mouse I'm happy with!

When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so are particularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

  • Mini and Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse

I just got my mac mini core solo and am having difficulty with my bluetooth mouse. I also have a MacBookPro that I was using with the V270 Logitech bluetooth mouse. With the MBP, it works flawlessly. It tracks well and has a pretty good range (20+ feet).
When I connect the V270 to the mac mini (after disconnecting MacBookPro/V270 Bluetooth), I get very limited connection. At about one foot away the mouse tracks poorly and 10 feet away it completely disconnects.
I brought it into the local Apple store for a Genius to look at it and had similar problems. It did poorly on a mini and it did much better on the macbookpro. Although not as good as it has been working at home. The genius did think that the problem was the V270 but he was unable to recommend a good multibutton mouse to work with the mini.
Has this problem happened to anyone else? Were you able to isolate the problem to the mouse or to the mini. If it's the mouse, can anyone recommend a good two button mouse with scroll wheel
    Thanks,
    Mike
    Mac mini solo

I exchanged my original V270 and got a brand new one to test out. When I brought it home, it reacted the exact same way. Works well on the macbookpro and works erratically on the intel mini.
I called up apple support again and they told me that the V270 may not be compatible with the mac mini and I should contact Logitech to verify its compatibility. I sent off an email to Logitech and am waiting for a reply.
One thing I noticed was that the mouse worked much better when it was used behind the mini. Its still bad, but better.
    I'll keep you posted.

  • Logitech V270 Bluetooth Mouse

I have just ordered my first Mac, a 20 inch 2.4 GHz, switching from a WIN98 HP. So I am real new at this Mac business. I've heard/read so much flack about the Mighty Mouse, I was wondering about buying the subject BT mouse as my primary mouse. It has been dropped by Logitech in favor of the V470, I believe, but the 270 is larger and I think more suited for desktop use. And it is still available from any number of sources. Has anybody had any experience with this mouse on the desktop iMac? Or any other suggestions? Thanks.

You owe it to yourself to give the Mighty Mouse a try first. Some people love it, some hate it. It takes some getting used to, but for me, anyway, I would never want to go back to a scroll wheel. The scroll ball is just so fast. I have the bluetooth Mighty Mouse and, yes, it does require a lot of cleaning to keep the scroll ball functioning, but as far as I'm concerned it's worth it.

  • Installed new HD, but funny sign now on screen-never seen it before!

    Hi people.
I have an iBook G4 that I bought and it needed some repairs. It came with The old HD had a fatal error, so I bought a SATA 120Gb Western Digital Scorpio drive.
I've put the unit back together, all the cables etc are intact etc. I've booted the computer up with the 10.3.5 install disc 1, and held down the 'C' key. The Apple logo comes up on screen, the spinning gear is spinning quite happily at the bottom, but after about 2 minutes, a new icon appears on the screen (see the link to my Photobucket account for the image):
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v520/DanThe440Man/Random%20Stuff/Snapshot185.j pg
It's like the 'Delete' icon, but in grey. Does anybody know what this means? I have a theory, but not sure if it's right? My iBook is 12" 1.2gHz and was shipped in late '04. When I bought the iBook, the old HD was running 10.4.3, which the guy said was a fresh install. As the original discs were not supplied, amongst the spare parts I bought to fix the computer, I also bought a set of 10.3.5 install discs. When trying to boot up with the install disc 1, thats when I get the funny icon. I also have a black purchased OSX Tiger DVD. When I try and boot up holding the 'C' key with this, it does exactly the same thing.
Is it possible that I need the original (grey) 10.4 discs and not 10.3? Or, does anybody know what the icon means?
    Dan

I really think we are zeroing in on what the problem is.
If your iBook originally shipped with Panther 10.3.5, then you would expect the original 10.3.5 Panther disc AND the 10.4 Tiger retail disc to work.
If your iBook originally shipped with Panther 10.3.7, then you would NOT expect the 10.3.5 Panther disc to work since it would be an earlier OS. But you would expect the 10.4 Tiger disc to work.
Since neither disc that you have works, I suspect that you actually have the iBook that shipped with Tiger 10.4. You can confirm this, as Cornelius correctly points out, by calling Apple with the serial number and asking.
I looked at my Tiger retail disc, and it is version 10.4, and it says on it, 2Z691-5305-A. However, I believe that not all Tiger retail discs are identical, but that as later versions of the OS became available, the retail discs incorporated the software updates. So it may well be that the seller had a retail disc that was actually Tiger 10.4.3. That may have been what was installed, and since it actually is a later version of the OS, it may have been backwards compatible and worked. If you have the same Tiger retail disc that I do--10.4, and the iBook actually shipped with 10.4, then I think maybe it does not like the retail disc version, and may not see it as a later version of the OS. I'm not sure I know what the conflict would be, but I'm thinking that there is one, and that is why you are getting the prohibitory sign with the Tiger retail disc.
This is pure speculation on my part--software is basically a great mystery to me. Cornelius is far more experienced and knowledgeable than I am, and I am hoping that he will review this wild theory and weigh in with whether it is nonsense or a possible explanation of why neither disc will work.
In the meantime, do call Apple with the serial number and find out for certain which version of the OS originally shipped on your iBook. That will remove a great deal of uncertainty. You can also order the correct set of discs, as Cornelius points out.
Do you happen to have access to an Apple Store? If so, you might be able to make an appointment at the genius bar and see if they can boot the iBook successfully from a version of the OS that is known to work. If they can, then you know that the iBook and new drive are just fine, and all that you need are the right discs.
    Good luck!

  • Problem installing new software (stuffit, haven't tried others yet)

    Hi!
I'm the happy owner of a brand new (the laptop pro, 17") but I have a little problem:
I wanted to install Stuffit (I downloaded it from the Internet), but when I try to drag it to the Applications folder, it says "the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items".
I don't understand, because the computer is mine, I'm the only user, and I've checked, I have read & right access to the folders.
Could someone tell me what's wrong or how I can get to finish installing this software?
(I want to buy some softwares online, but what's the pointif I can't install them!)
    Thanks!

yes, I need it, to decompress sit files.
I tried again, with a game, a dmg file, but it won't let me paste the installed file in the applications folder (just like the stuffit, who was originally a dmg file)
    I don't get it!

  • Installed new version of itunes and now my toshiba external hard drive won't mount

All of my music and photos reside on this Toshiba hard drive. I successfully had itunes find the hard drive for the library. After I installed updated itunes to mac, the toshiba doesn't mount to any of my computers. (I've tried it on more than one) The light on the drive comes on, but I never see it on my desktop. Thank you for your help.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on anoterh computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Successfully installed new internal drives...now what?

    I have searched...I promise.
Most likely I am just to ignorant too figure this out.
I took delivery of my new MacPro yesterday as well as 8g of RAM from OWC and two extra 1TB drives from OWC.
    Stock config is 2x3.0ghz quad/2x1g RAM/1TB HD.
I successfully added the two additional hard drives and the RAM...when I go to about this Mac, it does see 10gb of RAM and in further details, the new hard drives in 2 and 3 bays.
When I first powered up the Mac, it came up with an unrecognized drive screen and gave me several partition and RAID options. I didn't know what to choose, so I exited out and can't seem to find that screen:)
Ultimately, my plan is to have two drives for OSX and one for Windows. I have a retail version of Windows on me...and I don't knoow what to do next.
    Can anyone lend a hand?
i would like the second and third drives to show up on my OSX desktop as Windows and OSX saved data.
    Any help would be incredible!
    Thanks
    Jeremy

  • I have a new laptop and my bookmarks and other firefox settings are on my mobile phone; how can i get them onto my desktop?

is there a way to sync FROM a mobile and not just to one?

Firefox Sync doesn't sync data directly between devices, it uses a "sync server" in the middle to store your Firefox data which sends & receives that data to & from individual device.
You need to set up that new laptop as a "new device", to add it to your current Sync account. See this support article: <br />

  • Upgrade to 14.0.1 Now font-family settings ignored for certain fonts e.g. Expert Sans

    Accepts {font-family: Arial, sans-serif, verdana} etc.
But {font-family: Expert Sans, Arial, sans-serif, verdana} will fall back to Arial even though Expert Sans is installed on client PC. Works pre 14.0.1 and on Safari, Chrome, IE6/7/8 etc, so this is a feature of 14.0.1 release.

Since the option to uncheck "allow pages to choose their own fonts" only appears after "advanced" is clicked, I understood what you meant.
Let me put it this way. What I am expecting to happen: when I uncheck "allow pages to choose their own fonts," web pages will not choose their own fonts, but use the ones I've selected. What happens instead at tumblr: my selected fonts do not get used.
To make it apparent, I selected Comic Sans for everything, and unchecked "allow pages to choose their own fonts." The results are shown in the first image below. I used sfgate.com as an example of a site where unchecking "allow pages..." works.
The second image shows the font info from sfgate using the handy plug-in you mentioned. Comic Sans, my selected font, appears.
The third image shows what I get at tumblr with the same settings I had at sfgate. As you can see, tumblr ignores my designation to use Comic Sans.
For comparison purposes: the fourth image shows tumblr font info when "allow pages to choose their own fonts" IS checked.
I have tested this with Firefox 12, 13, and 14 on Windows XP and Vista. I have tested it with multiple fonts (the font I usually designate is Verdana, but visually it's too close to Arial, so I used Comic Sans here) Tumblr ignoring the unchecking of "allow pages to choose their own fonts" happens in every instance. In short: tumblr.com breaks the Firefox option to choose your own fonts. Unchecking "allow pages to choose their own fonts" does not work at tumblr.
Please note that by tumblr I do not mean individual blogs [myblog.tumblr.com], where the fonts can be set by the blog owner, and where unchecking "allow pages..." works. The problem is at tumblr.com, and also at tumblr.com/dashboard, the dashboard being what signed in tumblr users view, and which is 90% of their tumblr "experience."
Another note: in my test, you'll notice I chose the same font for serif and sans-serif. Don't get sidetracked by that. Every version of Firefox, since it was first introduced, will happily use a single font across the board. There is no need to choose an actual serif font for "serif." The font I normally choose for both categories is Verdana.

  • Cannot find Bluetooth Preference Panel to install new Magic Mouse

Tried to install a new Magic Mouse, but the computer does not see it. Bluetooth icon is not in toolbar, and Bluetooth Pane is not in preferences panel. Found bluetooth.prefPane file in HD>System>Library>PreferencesPane, double clicked on it, but got the error message -- You cannot open "Bluetooth" preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time. You might need to connect a device to your computer to see the preferences pane.
Installed new batteries in Magic Mouse, but it still is not seen by the computer.
Note - I have not used Bluetooth devices on this computer before.
    Suggestions?

In the past, Apple have specifically recommended and supported the D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth Adapter, but that one is quite old now, so you may have difficulty finding one.
    http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=34
They now appear to be recommending the Targus ACB10US adapter:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3940
There are literally dozens of other USB Bluetooth Adapters on the market, but not all are 100% Mac compatible, so definitely try before you buy, or buy from somewhere that accepts returns.
