Installed oracle 817--mod_ose missing
I have installed Oracle Version 8.17 on Solaris Sparc.
I intend to run jsp and buisiness objects in Oracle 817.
As far as I understand the documentation I have to enable the mod_ose.
Beside all configuration files and documentations, there is no mod_ose.so which can be loaded by apache nor is any load statement in mod__ose.conf.
Greetings J|rgen
Ok here some improvements, i did the exactly what you said , and reboot the machine and i got http server successfully started , but when i access http://<hostname>/pls/portal30
it took 10-20 mins and came up with "internal server error"
and i check the error_log and found alot of Java exception throws ,
one of them is org.apache.java.util.Configurations.getstring(Configurations.getstring)
I can send the error log if you want to take a look at it..
is it because modose conf? where can i found the modose info? how it works?

How to install Oracle 817 Client on Redhat Linux7.2
I try to install oracle 817 client on a dell server running Redhat Linux7.2, the installer won't start. Are there any pre-requisites I have to set for client install to work on linux? Does 817 installer work on Linux7.2?
Thanks,
JoeJoe,
I have the same issue. It's probably due to an incompatibility of the jdk 1.1.8 on the CD.
Have you tried using another one ? http://www.blackdown.org/

Installing oracle 817 on redhat 7.1
Could someone please help me? I'm trying to install oracle 817
on redhat 7.1 i did all the prework and also installed java
sdk1.3.1, and set my path also.
when I try to run the ./runInstaller or even the
install/linux/runInstaller, i get this error, Java runtime
environment not found e/bin/jre.............
the e at e/bin/jre had a little mark on top of it, i have no
idea what that means. I diged through some documentation and
the only reference that i found saids something about long file
name. Has anyone else came across this and what would be the
fix to this?
Thank you.
WillHello.
You dont need any java to install 8.1.7 in RedHat 7.1
Just make a full installation of RedHat and for running the
runInstaller export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 before
I dont know if this are in the RelaseNotes of Disk1 of RedHat 7.0
or 7.1

Problem installing oracle 817 Personal Edition in non-interactive mode
When I install oracle 817 PE in silent mode, if there's a pre-8.1.6 version of Oracle already installed the Oracle Data Migration Assistant pops up. This is exactly what I don't want to happen. Is there a way to keep ODMA from launching? Thank you.
It is not possible installing Oracle in WINDOWS ME platform, because this won't support for ORACLE. Unfortunately ORACLE also have no version for WINDOWS ME. If possible, upgrade your OS to WINDOWS 2000 or downgrade to WINDOWS 98 and try it.

Oracle 817 does not want to install on RH Linux (ORA-03113)
I am trying to install Oracle 817 on RH Linux with kernel
2.4.17. I have modified various recommended parameters
as described in the doc and recompiled the kernel.
But each time I try to create a database, I would be getting this error:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Please help!! My system has 512 MB of ram and 1GB of swap.
It is a Pentium III about 700 MHZ.

--VincentAfter Forms 6i it is only possible to run the Forms web based. Inside the the Developer Suite you can find an OC4J which allows you to run the Forms locally on the Development PC.
There are setting in the formsweb.cfg which allows you to do some configuration. For instance the look and feel which is by default the green color. The size of your window which makes your current window smaller than your Form.
At your last question. Do you want the other user to make use of your Forms or make use of your database. If you want him to make use of your Forms, the other user could call the locally installed OC4J with the http-address. If you want the user to make use of the database, the other pc should have a installed client software or make use a tool like SQL Developer to connect over JDBC. -
Oracle 817 client not available in ODBC Data Source Administrator pick list...
I have installed Oracle 817 client on a PC.
I can see the server, I can see the instance.
I can log into the instance using SQLPlus with no problem.
The product I'm using requires an ODBC connection configured in the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
When I try to configure it in the DSA, Oracle 8 is not in the list.
HELP!I assume you have Windows on the client. The "Drivers" page of the ODBC_DSA should list all installed drivers. You require:
name= Oracle ODBC Driver
version= 8.01.07.00 (or something similar)
company= Oracle Corporation DO NOT USE the Microsoft one.
If this does not show, then either it was not included in the Oracle Client installation or you have not rebooted after the Oracle Client installation; the ODBC driver is not visible until rebooted. -
Oracle 817 installation on P4 machines
I'm having a problem installing Oracle 817 on a Compaq P4 machine. I copied the entire CD to the C: drive, made changes to 3 lines of code in oraparam.ini Jre_memory_location
default_home_location and
default_home_name
I also changed the name of the file - symcjit.dll to symcjit.old
When I run setup I get the error - The Java runtime environment was not found at bin\jrew.exe.
Can anyone make any suggestions to resolve this problem.
ThanksHi,
If you're getting "command not found" then the location where you've setup odbcinst and the other files is not in your PATH setting. I'd suggest moving them from /usr to /usr/local/bin or the SuSe equivalent that's already in your PATH.
Cheers,
Stuart. -

Installing Oracle - /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure command missing?
I've AMD64 system with Ubuntu 11.04 installed. It's been rough ride for me to install oracle-xe-universal. I've already spent more than 2 days on this. Still unsuccessful.
1) First I downloaded the packages libaio_0.3.104-1_i386.deb and oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb
2) Then I ran
sudo apt-get install bc (ran fine)
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio_0.3.104-1_i386.deb (ran fine)
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb (gave me dependency error for libc6 (>= 2.3.2), I modified the control file to remove dependency and rebuilt the package) (now worked fine)
Oracle xe is now installed. Then I tried to start the DB it started but it's HTTP client never started. So I decided to uninstall the oracle-xe=universal. None of the sudo apt-get remove oracle-xe-universal command's didn't worked for me. So i went for manual uninstallation directions as per oracle link.
I ran the following command-
Manually uninstalling Oracle 10g
sudo rm -rf /usr/lib/oracle /etc/oratab /etc/init.d/oracle-xe /etc/sysconfig/oracle-xe /usr/share/doc/oracle_xe /usr/share/doc/oracle_xe_client
Then I again ran the following command to install oracle-xe
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb
See below what I got as the output-
rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$ sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb
dpkg: warning: overriding problem because --force enabled:

sudo: /etc/init.d/oracle-xe: command not found
rocky@ubuntu:~/git/mygit/edas2/libaio$
Even in applications menu I don't see the if oracle has been installed.
So i conclude first time installation was ok but somehow http client didn't worked.
After manual uninstallation, second installation didn't even loaded/installed the oracle-xe in init.d directory.

Any reason you are not using a supported OS?
And any reason you are running two threads on the same problem? /etc/init.d/oracle-xe is missing?

Missed to extract RDBMS_SAP_64.zip before installing Oracle
Hi Gurus,
I am installing solution manager 7.0 on solaris 10.
As per installation guide before installing ORacle we should extract the RDBMS_SAP_64.zip file in /oracle/stage/102_64/database... but i missed this step.
Right now installtion is going well( ABAP loads phase is going on now).
Will i get any problems in further steps.
Is it mandatory to do the above step before oracle installation or we can do even before oracle patch applying.
Please clarify my doubt.....
Thanks,
Balu
Edited by: Balu.. on Feb 26, 2009 1:56 AMThe question is:
did you call the RUNINSTALLER script to install the database?
That zip file contains an actual version of that RUNINSTALLER script with actual parameters since the database DVDs are not more changed.

Libraries missing while installing Oracle 11.2g on Oracle Linux 6.2
Hi,
i just installed oracle linux 6.2 and started to isntall Oracle 11.2g server.
so first i installed the yum install oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall_
but when i run the prerequisite check on OUI it shows some libraries missing. the issue is that the libraries are installed but the version doesn't match.
ex: when i query rpm -q libaio it shows that i have installed libaio-0.3.107 but in OUI it shows that libaio-0.3.105 is missing.
is this normal or should i go and install also the previous versions of the missing libraries? Thanks for your quick response... but;that's the problem... I don't know what path/directory should I use... I know that the RPM is installed:

Summary : Linux-native asynchronous I/O access library
Description :
The Linux-native asynchronous I/O facility ("async I/O", or "aio") has a
richer API and capability set than the simple POSIX async I/O facility.
This library, libaio, provides the Linux-native API for async I/O.
The POSIX async I/O facility requires this library in order to provide
kernel-accelerated async I/O capabilities, as do applications which
require the Linux-native async I/O API.

Error while installing Oracle 10g rel2 on FC4 - areasQueries missing
Hi,
I keep getting the following error while trying to install Oracle on my FC4:
"There was an error while loading library. areasQueries".
I found a thread that said I should delete oraInst.loc file or rename it, since the installation recognises files that are there from previous trials to install Oracle.
