Installed Ovi Suite - Ovi Player broken now

as the subject says ive had Ovi player working fine on win7 64-bit for months now. But i wanted to take advantage of the free navigation so I installed Ovi Suite but since then when i try to run Ovi Player it just says Ovi player has stopped working.
I have tryed uninstalling and reinstalling when it is installing it says failed but put the icons and shortcuts everywhere, I have also tryed deleting the .msi file that it points at to force it to download it again but after downloading again it tells me it fail to install.
Has anyone had this problem and resolved it?

Having problems installing Ovi player.

This problem would not happen if I did not format my PC.
After format using Vista SP2, I can't install my Ovi Player but before the format it was fine.
The installation starts normally but until half way the downloading process the status turns to fail and says network error.
What is the problem ?

OVI Player question and compatibility

First question, how do I install OVI Player on a PC that is not connected to the net, the downloadable installation file is only 1.1MB. I only want the music transfer to the phone feature of OVI Player as this is not available in the PC suite now.
Second question, my 6260 Slide is less than 18 months old and it is not in the compatibility list for OVI Player, is this an oversight or is the phone not compatible.

Since you do not have a tuner on the dvd/vcr combo, the only way you can record tv shows on this unit is if your tv has a video output on the back of the tv. Few newer tv's have this feature anymore.
See this picture. There is a pair of audio outs on the right, and the bottm right is a yellow output for video. These are the composite outs to go to a unit like yours.
If the unit came from Best Buy, you can see about exchanging it for a Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK or LG RC897T units. They are stocked in store and have a HD tuner in them.

Ovi Player Crash

Another issue to raise regarding nokia's lousy software. After giving up on Ovi Suite now seeing as nobody can identify why my phone crashes when I set to pc suite mode I re-installed ovi player, but alas, it crashes eveytime I try to load it.
How can they call it a smart phone, it'snot even from a "smart" company, any one who owns one will know that the user has to be smart just to be able to use the basic features on this so so disappointing phone. The phone itself is as unpredictable as loading a game on the Commodore 64 was. I've lost count how many times it has either turned itself off or just froze with uresponsive touch screen or unock button.
How I wish i had bought an i phone now.

Could you please check, if this could help ?
1) Connect the phone in "Data transfer" mode to your PC.
2) Delete the two files in "E:\private\101FFC31" (called "mpxv1.mpd" and "pcv5.mpd").
3) Delete the files in "E:\private\101ffca9" (called "harvesterdb.dat").
4) Disconnect the phone from the PC and run the Music Player on the phone.
5) Wait a while for the app to startup. It will be rebuilding the library......
6) Just to be sure, select "Refresh".

Ovi Player can not connect to internet

I installed Ovi Player, connected my phone X3-002 to PC and now trying to access Ovi Music.
I get message "We are very sorry but we cannot access the Music Store at this time. Please check your internet connection or try again later". It has been so now for 3 days.
I have 64bit Windows 7 and I'm on 3,5G mobile broadband connection. And the internet is fine, as I am connected to internet and posting here..
How to solve this?

did figure this. at registration i chose UK as my country 'cause was afraid I'll get stupid localized page in non-english language, I had to change it to same country as I chose at player and it worked.

Ovi player doesnt connect to internet

i have very strange problem. i was using ovi player before then one day ovi player come up with the updates and i updated the software. i selected india as a music store but now my ovi player is not able to connect india music store and even on internet explorer tab bar when i typed http://music.ovi.com/in/en/pc,
it losts the internet connectivity, whereas i am able to open other countried music store in ie tab bar but i can not open any music store in new installed ovi player. i tried everything i uninstalled the prog, clean the disk with ccleaner, delete the music data store files, but no success.
can any one help me with this?

OVI Player installation problems

I installed OVI player with the given CD and also PC suite from the website. when i open OVI player it is aking me to update the player. If i do so it is taking me to the "Installer" pop -up box. Where all fields (Nokia Connecticvity cable driver, PC connectivity software, Multimedia componants and OVI player) are showing as Failed, network error, while downloading.
My PC had good internet connection and I tried 5 times the update installer however, always it shown Failed, network error.
Please check the attachement for your reference and suggest how to proceed.

How to change default Ovi Player store ...

Hi,
I need help from you people.
I had installed Ovi Player. Whenever I try to open Ovi Player, the default store gets’ open is "India". I change the store location to "Germany". When I do the search for particular music, it will again take me to "India" store instead of "Germany" store. In addition, most annoying is that I have to re-login but my user id and password will not work as its different store. Also when I go via music.nokia.de and try to login, it open Ovi player and since default location is "India", it takes me to India store and my login credentials do not work.
I ask Nokia care on how to change default Ovi Player Store location but they are unable to provide any good answer.
I already un-install / re-installed but won't work. Do any of you have answer to my problem? I want my default Ovi Player location to be "Germany" instead of "India".
More information, my regional settings have location as “Germany” and language as “English”.
Please help.

Thank you for your response.
This error is sometimes caused by a corrupted MDataStore.db3 file used by the Ovi Player. This file will need to be deleted with the Ovi Player closed. Then open the player and the datastore file will be rewritten by the application:
Close Ovi Music Player and delete the MDataStore.db3 file:
Vista C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
Both of these locations are in hidden folders. So, to view them users will need to:
Open Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders
Once Ovi Music is opened again the MDataStore.db3 file will be rewritten to this folder.
  After that manipulation try to install the Ovi Player once again:

PC Suite not wokring after installing OVI

I recently installed the OVI Suite, but decided that don't need the OVI Player, so I unistalled it. But even after uninstalling the player, the rest of the suite is still there and seems to conflict with PC Suite. So now I have a double connection to my N97: when I look in Windows Explorer, I see both Nokia N97 as a mobile media player, and Nokia Phone Browser as a system folder. Both can connect to the phone - but PC Suite is greyed down and does not seem to be connected to the phone.
Is this how it should be? Or which components should I uninstall to get the functionality of PC Suite back?

As far as i know, there is nothing harm in installing both Nokia Ovi Suite & PC Suite on your PC
After uninstalling your OVI Suite have you rebooted your PC? If not, what i suggest you is,
Take backup of your PC registries.
Uninstall Nokia PC Suite also from your PC, Run PC Suite cleaner(www.nokia.com/pcsuite it will have cleaner also), Run reliable Cleaner for your PC, Uninstall NOkia Connecitivity cable driver, PC Connectivity Solution etc., Install Nokia PC Suite from above link, reboot the pc after suite got installed, Once pc is started, Open Nokia PC Suite and then try to connect your Phone in different USB ports of your PC.

Installing OVI Suit on Windows Vista Enterprise di...

I have a great problem with the OVI suit installation on a Windows Vista Enterprise 32Bit.
Before i install ovi suit, there was the "Nokia PC Suit" on the PC this software is uninstalled now, and also i run the “Nokia_PC_Suite_Cleaner_7_1_1.exe“.
Also i have browsed the Support Board and Google/Bing for solutions,
But nothing of these entries can help me with this installation.
OVI Suit version is actually downloaded yesterday (3.0.0.290).
The installation stops at 1/3 of the normal run.
I have tested the installation on 3 machines like the problem PC, without a problem.
So i have no idea what i can do to run the installation to the end.
Now I have started a new try to install the OVI Suit, and deleted before all Registry-Keys.
By the way, is this really normal that the installation needs more than 120MB RAM?

How to install ovi suite to a drive other than C:?...

how to install ovi suite to a drive other than c:??? my c: drive is almost full with other partitions perfectly free to install it, how do i do that? can i use previous versions of ovi suite to use with my e63? at this point, i'm unable to use ovi suite at all, because there's no room to install it on my c: drive.
allllllllso there's one more thing, when i originally had tried installing ovi suite on my computer i had more than 1gb free. after installing it i on'ly had 500mb free. i had only intended for it to use a very small amount of space, and since i also use my c: drive for virtual memory i quickly uninstalled it, looking for an option i'd maybe skipped over while installing it the first time. no luck. anyways, when i looked in the add/remove programs control panel the installed size of ovi suite was only 40-50mb. even after uninstalling ovi suite the extra memory space that seemed to all of a sudden taken up by the installation stayed used.
when looking at the file sizes of everything on my hard drive, (including system files and paging file) there is still a descreprency between the amount of memory used and the size of all files total on the drive. at this point im quite disgusted and disapointed in ovi suite as i'm mostly unable to use it to connect my phone to my computer and i'm also having problems with the CA101 cable as well. i guess i'll have to go check for another cable.

Hi ostrenga4, sorry to hear about your experiences.
When installing Nokia Ovi Suite to PC, Windows makes "system restoration points", which are available to restore operating system to previous condition, if something goes wrong, for example in driver installation.
You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
- Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
- Start Windows Command prompt
- From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
- Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
- This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
- Unfortunately, Windows Installer still keeps installer cache files and system restoration points in C: drive (or whatever your system drive is)
As you can see, this is possible, but it is very much recommend to have enough space for installing software into system drive.

The installer does not offer any options. -SS.
My C drive is full and there is not enough space for the humoungous Ovi suite. As a matter of my personal policy, I never install any application to my C drive. I have created a separate D partition expressly for installing applications.

You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
- Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
- Start Windows Command prompt
- From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded

Ovi Player / Ovi Suite Music not added to library

Ok more weird Ovi annoyances:
Ovi Music / Player does not add certain songs from my iTunes folders (all Non DRM m4a files) to its library, neither automatically nor does it let me add them manually.
However, if transferred to the handset (N97) manually they will play fine. They also play fine when opened via File|Open in Ovi Suite or Player.
I first noticed it with
e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Israel Kamakawiwo'ole\Over the Rainbow - Single\ Over The Rainbow.m4a
Which I cannot add to the library in any way.
Ok, I thought, Ovi trips up on special characters, but
e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\The Von Bondies\Pawn Shoppe Heart\C'mon C'mon.m4a
e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\The Men They Couldn't Hang\How Green is the Valley\The Ghosts of Cable Street.m4a
are both added just fine, while
e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\The Von Bondies\Pawn Shoppe Heart\Not That Social.m4a
can again, not be added in any way.
Al right then, has to be that Ovi trips up over legal Windows path names that are too long for Ovi.
But
e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Neon Trees\Animal-Single\Aniimal.m4a
can again not be added in any way while
e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark\Messages - Greatest Hits\1-03 Enola Gay (2003 Remaster).m4a
is added just fine.
Sometimes when trying to add an album, only certain titles are not added, while the rest of the album is.
There seems to be no pattern whatsoever to this behavior, since it's not path lengths or special characters tha keep songs from bein added, it's also nit file type related as there some MP3s i can't add as well.
Note that M$ Media Player 11 has no issues adding the same bits to its own library.
I run Win 7 Pro 32.

It's getting weirder and weirder

was successfully imported including the first track

on another PC.
So the failures seem completely random, which would not be so tragic if you got a second chance, which you don't.
I'd still like to know what I need to delete to get rid of the entire music library. I just need OVI-Music / Suite to get some of my music to my phone and this should not be so tedious!
Ovi Suite seems to sotre stuff all over the place and you don't really know what's what, which makes fixing problems very frustrating.
iTunes keeps its stuff transparently in the same place, but then again I never had any such weird problems with it in the past 5 years.
