Installed path for registry settings for Installer

Hi!
I want my installer to add some registry keys to the Windows registry.  The value of these registry keys is dependent on what the user picks as their install path during the installation of my software.  Does anyone know if there is some variable that represents the install path like %install path% or something?
I'm using LabVIEW 2009 SP1.
Let me know if you need any more information!
I suppose if there isn't a solution, I can add code to my program to create these registry keys after the program has been installed.
Thanks!

Hi shew82!
I didn't need to make a "setup wizard" application that ran after my installer completed.  Your post contained the information that I needed and it worked like a champ, so I'm marking your post as the solution.  Thank you very much.
Turns out [INSTALLDIR] can be placed in the registry settings of a LabVIEW installer for your LabVIEW application.
See below
Here is the result in the Windows registry:
Woops, looks like I have an extra slash in there.  Oh well, should work fine once I iron that out.
Cheers!

  • How do I set the install path for acrobat (the free reader)?

I cannot find any place during the download/install process where I can choose the install path.
How do I do it? The software works fine, I just don't want it at that location.

    I appreciate your help.
To sum it up, what I hear is that theoretically it might be possible to save some space, but that initially it wont be that much and over time it might be a very small portion of the total amount.
I am also indirectly hearing: "No, you cannot choose an install path"
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Change the install path for Acrobat Pro X

Hi everybody! I just downloaded the AcroX trial to see what's beef with the new release, but I ran into a very annoying problem:
I'm quite nitpicking about my Applications folder, and I installed all of my other Adobe software into an "Adobe" subfolder.
I just noticed that during the installation is not possible to easily change the installation path like you can do in other Adobe setups...
I found this in the KB
    (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/877/cpsid_87775.html#main_Known_issues_on_Mac_OS)
"You cannot install Acrobat to a custom location." and other stuff...
The question is: do you have any idea of the priority of this bug? Will this be fixed anytime soon?
    Thanks, Agia

    Hi,
Just followed the link you gave. In the try option for Acrobat X Pro the dropdown only has options for Windows installers and not MAC Installers.
Secondly to answer your issue for customize installation to a path on OS 10.6, follow the following steps:
    1) Mount the dmg on MAC
    2) Launch the installer package
    3) Click OK on popup that you need to close running instances of Acrobat
    4) Click next to go to Read Me.
    5) Click next to move to Installation Type screen where we have buttons "Install", "GoBack" and "Customize". Click on Customize
    6) In this screen you will see 3 checkboxes "Application", "Browser Plug-In" and "Print Workflow" with columns as Package Name, Location, Action and Size
    7) Corresponding to Application Checkbox there is Location specified (With a small folder icon) - Adobe Acrobat X Pro. Click on this to select your location (2nd column)
This is similar to what traditional Apple products installers do like XCode installer. There is nothing new in this.
    Thanks,
    Karan

  • [ER] Jdev should check paths for blanks at startup

    Hi,
Jdeveloper should check the relevant paths for blanks (and other problem making characters) and raise a warning message to the user.
There are new posts nearly every week in this forum which are caused by blanks in jdev path or similar things.
    regards
    Peter

    Hi,
though it sounds like a plan, I'd prefer the bugs to be filed and fixed. Since errors propagate from one release to the next, chances are that if we would ask our users to adapt their development environment to known issues in JDeveloper, probably in 2015 you will have to move your desk to south at sunrise, shout cheers when the splash screen launches and press any key every five minutes.
I too use blanks in my install path for the purpose of detecting issues and file them accordingly. I would like to ask anyone detecting a path related issue to track it down so it reproduces and report it.

  • PS App Deployment registry settings fail through SCCM

I've created an application installation with PowerShell and I'm running into a problem.  I've set it up so it installs an application, copies a file to the user profile, and adds 5 registry settings.  I've got it all setup and working great
when I run it manually.  However, when running it through SCCM, the application does install, but the registry settings don't get added.
Tried it as an application and a package in SCCM, set to run as admin, allow user to interact, and only when a
user is logged in.  The ExecutionPolicy is set to Bypass on test PCs.
I've also setup the same install as a script and everything works fine, manual and SCCM install.  Really want to get it working with PowerShell as it has more functionality and more reliable than scripting.  It only has a problem when its ran with
PowerShell through SCCM.  Has anyone ran into this before?

Here is the actual script I'm using to add the registry keys
    Copy-File-Path"$dirSupportFiles\BOESystems.xml"-Destination"$envAppData\SAP
    AG\SAP BusinessObjects Advanced Analysis\Settings\BOESettings\BOESystems.xml"
    Set-RegistryKey-Key"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\Utilities"-Name"Profiling"-Type"String"-Value"True"
    Set-RegistryKey-Key"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\SBOP.AdvancedAnalysis.Addin.1"-Name"LoadBehavior"-Type"Dword"-Value"3"
    Set-RegistryKey-Key"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\DataSource"-Name"PreferredPlatform"-Type"String"-Value"3"
    Set-RegistryKey-Key"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\DataSource"-Name"RfcBundling"-Type"String"-Value"True"
    regedit/s$dirSupportFiles\Popup.reg
The Popup.reg is a Reg_None entry that adds this:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]

  • HT201413 The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  Do I have to uninstall before I re-install iTunes?

Note I am receiving when opening up iTunes:  The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes.
Question:  Do I have to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall?  I am a little hesitant to do this!
    Noelyn

Hi for the message error "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
Here are the resolutions I found and it fix the problem for me.
    Resolution
iTunes installs a device filter which helps it work with your optical drive. If this device filter is missing, you will see the message mentioned above. To resolve this issue, reinstall iTunes to put the device filter back in place. To reinstall iTunes, follow the steps in the article below appropriate to your OS:
    HERE http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
If you still get the pop up error "Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
    Do this

    Good luck!

  • When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message  "The registry settings used by the I tunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software  Please reinstall

When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message:
"The registry settings used by the I Tunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.
This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please re-install I Tunes."
To my knowledge no new software has been installed.  I have tried un-installing and re-installing I Tunes but I still
    get the same message.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?  Do I need to download a new driver?
    Bill Martin

I can get down as far as step 11 but it shows nothing about upper filters and when I type on "If the Upper Filters entry is missing follow these instructions" nothing happens
Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.

  • I received the following message when iTunes launches: "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's or DVD's are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning softwarre.  Please reinstall iTunes"

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.  This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes"  I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue.  I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes.  I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either.  I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet.  Would that perhaps fix the problem?  I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue.  I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop.  Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using  Homegroup.  I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.
    Thanks in advance.

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

    This same thing happened to me about two months. ago. I bought a new harddrive for my previously-fried netbook, and when I installed iTunes it gave me the missing registry business. So I came online and looked for solutions. This solution led to a different 'can't burn' error in iTunes, and I found a solution to that one, and it was like I was running in circles for a solid two weeks. Finally I managed to fix the problem, but after trying it hundreds of times I couldn't tell you which solution won out. Well, everything was fine and dandy, until I upgraded iTunes last night. Now its back to the same registry settings problem, and I want to maim something. Someone please help me ;___;
