Installed PS CS5 on new computer. Can no longer open .NEF files. Plug in won't install
Very frustrated. Bought new computer. Installed PS CS5. It won't open my Nikon 7000 .NEF (RAW) files. Tried to download and install the plug in but keep getting error saying I need to redownload and reinstall Adobe Application Manager. I do that, and still the same issue.
Anyone have any ideas?
More info. Using Windows 7.
Also, when I go to Help/About Plug Ins/Camera RAW, I find that I am supposed to have version 6.0 of the plug in, but there seems to be no way to update that plug in.
So, I went to the website and searched FOR AGES until I found the download page for the updates. First I tried to update to 8.5. No go. So I searched until I found the first version that supported the D7000 .NEF files (6.3). Tried to download that. Got the error message telling me to download and reinstall the download manager. Did so. Tried to download and install 6.3 again. Same error.

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time. If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account. In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc. For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases. Can no longer open PDF files from my emails sent from other websites. Problem seems to correlate with automatic upgrade of free adobe software (from version 11 to Reader DC)?
To configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader to open PDF files:
1. Quit Internet Explorer(any other browser)
2. Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
3. Choose Edit > Preferences.
4. Select Internet in the list on the left.
5. Deselect(Uncheck) Display PDF in Browser, and click OK.
6. Restart Internet Explorer -
I can no longer open pdf files in safari 6.02.
SAFARI CAN'T OPEN PDF'S ?
I can no longer open pdf files in safari 6.02. It worked fine up until 2 weeks ago. The pdf's open in Foxfire and Chrome browsers.
I can also download the pdf and open in acrobat directly. Safari only shows the file as ASCII characters.
Any suggestions?

If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -
Because I can no longer open Adobe files, and have tried all obvious solutions, I've been told to defrag the Intel portion of my MacBook Pro. How do I do this?
I never use the Intel side, and have never partitioned the MacBook Pro.

I can no longer open .pdf files in Firefox 4
Ever since I moved to the beta version of Firefox 4, I have lost the ability to view .pdf files in Firefox. I was convinced this was a problem totally with Firefox, but at around the same time I upgraded from an old G4 PPC laptop to a new Macbook Pro. Now I find I can't view .pdf files in Safari either. Is this a problem with Firefox, or a problem with the way I have configured my new computer?
I have the same problem and I agree with firebunny. This is really bad style from Mozilla. You should have thought about a problem such as viewing pdf's in the browser and compatible pdf-reader plug-ins.
My Adobe Acrobat plug-in was disabled by default when I installed FF 4 rendering viewing and downloading pdf's impossible. Now I am stuck with this browser and am considering going back to the last 3.6.16 version that I still use at my workplace without any problem.
Also I agree that this has nothing to do with the pdf readers that should be installed on the PC but with FF 4. I can prove this since I installed foxit-reader which also comes with a FF compatible plug-in. Neither here did selecting this as the default pdf application help nor does it enable downloads. -
After running MacKeeper (may be a coincidence), I can nolonger open PDF files. I used to be able to double click and they would open (I think in Preview). Now I get a mesage that I can't open with this version of Mac OS X. Same if I try to open Preview. I am using10.5.8. Can't open with Pages. The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

I've got CS4 on my Windows computer and I've been using it for years to edit my RAW pictures. I've recently bought a new camera and now it wont open any of the .NEF files I take with it. I can still open the old ones but none of the new ones. I've tried downloading the Camera RAW updates but it just keeps telling me:
'Update Failed. Updates could not be applied. Adobe Application Manager may be damaged'
I've just updates the Adobe Application Manager so I don't think that's the problem but I'm out of ideas.You have to have a camera raw version that supports your new camera AND one that will still work on CS4. If it's a new camera, I doubt you'll find a camera raw that will still work with CS4. You most likely will have to use the dng converter or upgrade version of PS if you don't want to use the converter.

Can't convert/open nef files from the d800
Hi, so I have a problem opening my raw files taken with the nikon d800 with the dng converter..it says that it supports the d800, why can I not open/convert the nef files? am I missing out on something@? thank you in advance
Usually the issue is that you've used an older version of Nikon Transfer for View NX with the newer-camera files. This is known to corrupt the files in a way that makes them unrecognizable to Adobe software.
Going forward, you should uninstall the obsolete versions of Nikon software and either install the ones that came with your newer camera or use non-Nikon software.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

In the Finder, select

I Fireworks 8, I was able to save a web page as a complete
document to the local drive and then open it with Fireworks to work
with it. With CS3 all I get is a totally white canvas. I have
checked that my preferences are all set the same, and they are. I
use this feature all the time for a variety of functions, i.e.,
combining slices to make one gif, etc. Am I missing something - or
is that function no longer there?
It shows it can open Html files, but it will not even open
it's own exported html files. Get "internal error." The file is
fine ( and it just created it.)No, it is not a bug at all. It is all about how you do this
and understand the primary functionality of Fw itself, and how it
do for you. If you don't fully understand how it works, then you
have problem trying to understand how it works and what's not.
Then, perhaps that you clearly do not understand the
functionality of Fw CS3, and how it relates to exported HTML files
created by Fw CS3.
It is very common, wide misunderstanding among other,
especially with newbies using Fw app, and they thought that if Fw
could create HTML code. Actually, it was created by side of
pre-scripted coding inside the app itself, and that it does the
rest for you.
As for working with sliced images around Fw CS3, as any
legacy versions of Fw, the concept of sliced images is often up for
the air and debates. Everyone have different opinion about sliced
images, and what not and what's cool.
I personally dislike sliced images. If having lots of sliced
images, means slower downloading time and more codes involved.
I get the feeling that you really not understand how Fw
works, and how it relates to your question about HTML code in Fw.
Please try to understand that FW itself CANNOT edit HTML. It only
just exports html code for you. However, it is important to note,
it is NOT perfect html code.
It is best IF you work with pre-scripted HTML code in
Dreamweaver, or any web authoring app to work with HTML directly.
If you are not taking my advice, so be it. I am out of this
discussion. End of discussion!

The reasons for opening an html file in Fireworks have
nothing to do with Dreamweaver or coding, just images and image
manipulation. If open html is an option, as it is, it should open
the file. It used to open with all slices intact, and all html code
behind it. Now it just opens a white page.
It is a bug and problem since it does not do as it should.
