Installed Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard.  Now PDFs opened via Safari no long appear in an Acrobat Pro 9 plug-in window.

I want PDFs grabbed from a web page to open is the Acrobat Pro 9 plug-in like they did before I updated to Safari v5.1.  I need access to bookmarks and other features that are not accessible via the Safari PDF viewer.
I realize that I can click the ICON on the floating palette at the bottom of the Safari PDF viewer window, but I would prefer not to go through the extra step every time.
Anyone have a pointer?
Thanks in advance
Joel

you need to trash the current version of IPhoto, just the application, leave all libraries intact, throw te iPhoto into the trash and up date, it wil ask you after install what libraries you want to install. Your choice, latsest is always my chioce. Do all the iPhoto updates before this step, as the download could have been corrupted. Hapened to me on my wifes nachine 10.7.3., which would have been certain death for me. After the re-install it will ask you which library to install, I always pick the latest, but you can put in others  as well.
Good luck, because if I lost those files, I'd be pushing uo Daisys about now.
There might be someone who knows a better wat too do this, and there is software to help ypu recover your data.(Data Resue, ClamEx)
Hope tuis helps

  • Upgraded to snow leopard, now safari scrolls a page down when space bar is hit and sometimes crashes.  Any ideas for a fix?

I just upgraded to the new snow leopard, now my Safari is acting loopy.  At times, the page will scroll down when I hit the space bar.  As I type this discussion the screen isn't paging down, but if I go to the tab where I have facebook loaded and hit the space bar, it acts as a page down key.  I've had safari crash about 5 times tonight for no apparent reason.  The delete key sometimes will act as a page back key.  I really have no idea whats going on.
I've had keyboards go wacko on me before due to something being spilled on them or a wireless problem, but this keyboard is a wired keyboard and nothing was spilled on it.  It's rather new and I'm quite certain it's not a keyboard issue.
No settings have been changed on the computer.  The only thing different today from yesterday, is the fact that I upgraded to snow leopard.
    Help would be pretty sweet.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Trying to get icloud, installed snow leopard, now it says I need OSX, but my processor isn't right for it. Is this possible? Do I need to buy a nw computer? will I loose all my mobile me storage?

You will lose the entire contents of your iDisk whether or not you migrate to MobileMe as there is no equivalent in iCloud and MobileMe will be terminated at the end of June. You will need to download any data which you don't have on your Mac already.
Snow Leopard is not compliant with iCloud and most of the facilities will not work. You can migrate from MobileMe to iCloud at http://me.com/move even with Snow Leopard: when asked to confirm that your Mac is running Lion just lie and say 'yes'. Of course you won't be able to access iCloud directly from your Mac.
If you have MobileMe mail set up to collect mail from external POP accounts you should cancel this before migrating, or you may find it still working in iCloud (where it isn't supposed to) and with no way of stopping it.
This will be the situation with Snow Leopard when you have migrated:
Your email, calendars, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud. Contacts and Bookmarks cannot be migrated from a Snow Leopard Mac.
Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).
There are a couple of third-party solutions which may be of interest.
BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion. A single user licence (two machines allowed) is $49.99.
Soho Organizer can sync Calendars and Contacts with iCloud on Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. A single user licence (multiple machines allowed) is $99.99.

  • Clean installing mountain lion while keeping snow leopard?

    Hello, I have a question...
I newly buy an SSD and at the same time I am thinking to upgrading to Mountain Lion... My operating system is snow leopard now.
I am thinking to download Mountain Lion and make a bootable flash disk. Then cleanly install it to the SSD. I dont want to touch my Macintosh HD... I am not a good technician... is it possible? I am doing this becuase if I dont like performance of mountaion lion, I will re-install the snow leopard to SSD... is it possible? Or After I boot from SSD, will I able to boot from again Macintosh HD (Snow leopard)??

When asked which drive or partition you want to install Mountain Lion to, pick one other than the partition containing Snow Leopard. The installer won't be deleted from the drive if the installation is done this way; it also won't interfere with the ability to boot Snow Leopard.

  • HT4651 After I installed Mac OS X Snow Leopard, I cannot open Gmail.  What shall I do?

I installed OSX 10.6.5 (Snow Leopard) but Safari 5 still requests this OSX.
AOL mail and other applications seem working fine just Gmail does not.
Let me know what I should do.
I can check my Gmail in Fire Fox but I prefer Safari.
I am not very good with these technologies.

The Apple Store recommended Snow Leopard because this is 1/10 of the price.
Snow Leopard is installed (because the screen has changed) but Safari does not recognize it.
When I access Safari, about 80% progress to open but does not go any farther.
Before Snow Leopard installation, everything was working fine.
Currently, I can use any applications through Safari except Gmail.
    Thank you for your response.

  • How do I install mountain lion but keep snow leopard as a bootable os

I'm caught in a vicious circle.
I need mountain Lion to be able to use iCloud and to be compatible with a couple of apps on my iPad. However some of my major apps on my mac Pro won't work under Lion or mountain lion.
SO the answer is to have both Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion on my Mac Pro.
Does anyone know of any instructions on installing Mountain Lion onto one SSD, whilst leaving Snow Leopard on another, allowing me to boot from either.
Also - any advice on the cleanest way of installing my apps under Mountain Lion (those that are compatible). I'm confused to how I can install my apps twice, especially if I have all ready registered Unser Snow Leopard.
    Thanks

I'm assuming that you currently have an SSD with Snow Leopard on it, and another SSD with no operating system. Is that correct?
What I would do is use the Snow Leopard DVDs to install a fresh copy of Snow Leopard on the SSD that currently has no operating system, and "migrate" your data and applications from the other SSD. (alternatively, you could use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to duplicate one SSD onto the other - but that's probably only an option if one SSD is completely blank or you're willing to erase it).
Then upgrade to Mountain Lion on the original SSD.
When you're done, hold down the option key when you start up to select which OS to use.
For many applications, it won't matter which SSD they're on - you'll be able to run them from either system without worrying about where the app is installed (each will have it's own preferences, stored on the current startup drive). But some applications are more complex, and rely on additional files that are scattered around the Library folders on the startup drive. Since you migrated your applications and data, you should have everything that's needed on both systems, including license keys, etc. I did this for a little while with Quicken, and I actually left the Quicken app on the Lion drive - it worked just fine even though I started up from an external Snow Leopard drive (I skipped the migration step entirely, and reentered my Quicken license code when starting up from Snow Leopard).
How successful this will be depends on exactly which applications you're using. Most of them will be OK, but if you're using something that has some esoteric copy-protection mechanism, you might run into a little bit of trouble. Consider upgrading the "new" Snow Leopard install to Mountain Lion, if that's the case, so you're original system SSD will remain Snow Leopard, with no changes.

  • I don't have the option of installing a clean copy of Snow Leopard

I'm new to Mac and have been exploring different programs that would fulfill the same functions as the programs I had been using on Vista. Unfortunately, my computer got a little wonky somewhere along the way and I want to remedy it by erasing the hard drive and installing a clean copy of Snow Leopard. I've looked in my owner's manual as well as several websites online. They all tell me to select something either from a tab or an Options menu but there isn't one. When I reach the Select Destination window, I have the option to customize what is installed (i.e. Quicktime, Rosetta, etc.), go back and continue. Is it not possible or something???

it's possible but there is likely no need to do this. what exactly is wrong with your computer? a simple reinstall of snow leopard on top of your current system will cure many ills and will preserve your data and applications. and many problems can be solved without reinstalling at all.
but if you insist on doing a wipe and install boot from the SL install DVD and start disk utility from utilities menu at the top. erase your hard drive using the erase tab in disk utility. then quit disk utility and proceed with the install. and if you do reinstall I suggest you back up your data first. otherwise it will be completely wiped when you erase your hard drive. and you should always back up anyway.

  • How does one un-install Lion and revert to Snow Leopard?

Anyone know how to un-install Lion and revert to Snow Leopard?

    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard. I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.

Do you use your Vaio Update for updates, kingdom? If so, check in there to see if you're also up to date on your video card drivers and BIOS. (Your downloads page at Sony UK shows some updates for those there, so we'd better check on them too.)

As Niel states you can use your current iWorks.
If you want the latest version you will need to purchase the componets in the Mac App Store.

According to Roaring Apps, there is a version of Protools compatible with Lion.  But you may need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to buy either Lion or ML on MAS.   It looks like you need to get up-to-date with your OS and the apps too.
