Installed SAPGUI 710

I've installed SAPGUI 710 and by default two systems are showing in the logon pad, namely Cairo & Portal, which belongs to California State University, Chico. When I click login SAP login screen appears. My question is from where these SAP servers showing on the logon pad, if it is provided by SAP by default then what is the id & password for these?

Check the System Folder C:\WINDOWS Inside One notepad name as SAPLOGON. It contains the SAP Logon pad entry details.
If you delete or modify the file it will reflect to SAP Logon.
Problem was may it not updated when you install SAPGUI 710 or Folder contains previous SAP user logon information.

please be sure that the INTERNET EXPLORER 6 is installed on the W2k Clients!
If not, then the new NWSapsetup can not start!
Many of my messages in the OSS with same error description had under W2k the problem that the IE there was not in version 6.
If you can not solve this problem by yourself, please open a message in "OSS" under BC-FES-INS !

Maximum Number sapgui 710 install

Please let me know what is the maximum number of clients which can be deployed sapgui 710 , we have built Installation Server 710 on 4GB box. Please advise ..
Is phased approach of 50 at a time or should be go around 200 at a time , we are a very large client with more than 1000 box which needs to be on sapgui 710 very soon.

We are just now in a rollout phase.
We have an SAP installation server and use packages with CA software delivery (dont ask details)
My collegues do it department by department, i.e. some dozens per day
No problems with PCs sitting locally in 100mbit LAN, some problems with PCs sitting in WAN with bandwidths from 500 to 2000 kbit.
Some problems with users not willing to read the instructions...
So - it depends...
Watch if you get problems and do more and more...

SAPGUI 710 Graphical Layout Editor not available in LAN

Hi,
I recently installed sneakpreview NW04s for ABAP at home and the SAPGUI 710 software. The graphical layout editor doesn't work. I have checked all requirements such as, required dll and exe files. They are all available. The problem occurs only when I try to start the graphical editor from another pc in my LAN. If I start it on the application server where I have installed NW04s and the SAPGUI, it works fine. Only when I access to the application server from other pc in my home network, it fails to start the graphical editor. I've read that there must be a problem with firewall / port somewhere. I don't know where I can check whether this is the cause. I am using D-Link wireless for my home network.
Can anybody help me with this?

I tried SM59 and ran a connection test for EU_SCRP_WN32. It started gnetx.exe, the window appeared shortly. But, the connection failed with the following error message:
ERROR                timeout during allocate
LOCATION             SAP-Gateway on host OFFICE / sapgw00
DETAIL               no connect of TP gnetx.exe from host %%SAPGUI%%
COMPONENT            SAP-Gateway
COUNTER              5824
MODULE               gwr3cpic.c ;
It seems that my laptop cannot establish an RFC connection to the application server. the service file on my laptop has the right entry for the application server.
Any ideas?

Sapgui 710/Vista problem (multiple logon pads open)

Running SAPgui 710 (pl3) on a Vista workstation.
When I open more than 1 SAP logon pad, then select a system from 1 pad, then try to select a system to logon to from the 2nd logon pad, I get the error:
(X) Internal Error: Internal Server Error, no more memory
component DPTM
This does not happen on an XP workstation.
Any suggestions?

We reinstalled sapgui, same problem. We installed sapgui on 2 other vista machines - same problem. Is anybody else running Sapgui 710 patch 3 on a Vista machine, with this problem?
1) open a sap logon pad
2) open a 2nd logon pad
3) from the 1st logon pad select a system, get to the logon prompt, minimize the window
4) from the 2nd logon pad, try to select a system
this is where we get the "internal server error"
Anybody else seen this? Do you have a solution?

SAPGUI 710 + BW3.x run-time error

Hi all,
I'm having a problem that is driving me completely crazy. I have a combination of systems available (Windows XP or Vista and Office 2003 or 2007) and they are all causing the same error for me.
As I write this I am using Windows Vista with SAPGUI 710 and office 2003, however as mentioned before the same error occurs with SAPGUI 710 and XP for me (different machines)
I have installed 710 with all the options from the files:
50083078_2
50083078_4
50083078_5
As instructed from the distribution center. I then installed support package 1 (gui710_1-10002995).
When I run BEx Analyzer 3.x, create a new query, and try to restrict a characteristic using a variable (in this case a selection option) as i drag the variable from the available list to the selection i get several of these messages:
Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108)':
Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
Followed by:
Run-time error '440':
Automation error
Searches for these have yield me no results for 710 in combination with Vista or XP.

Goto http;//service.sap.com click on SAP Support Portal, you are going to need an 'S' number to login. Once you have logged in goto 'Help & Support', 'Search for SAP Notes' and in the top right where it says 'Number' enter the note number.

Install SAPGUI 720 using package (MSI)

We have SAPGUI 710 installed on our machines.
I would like to upgrade to 720 using SAPGUI package. MSI.
Identified in the directory (\ GUI \ WINDOWS \ WIN32 \ system) the following files:
DhtmlEd.msi
msxml4.msi
vc9_redist_x86.msi
vcredist_x86.msi
Which one should I choose to silently install SAPGUI 720?

The msi files you refer to are not SAPGui installation .msi files but are dependency files.
Creating your own .msi installation scenario is not supported or recommended.
Refer to SAPNote 507996 SAP front-end installation - integration possibilities.
extract below:
We would ADVISE AGAINST using other installation programs to install the
Sapgui without SapSetup. 'Repacking' the software frontend into other
installation programs may cause unforeseen problems and we will be
unable to provide support if you experience such problems.
This also applies to those tools based on MSI, SMS Installer, Win
install, Tivoli and so on. The option to start Sapsetup from the
corresponding tools exists for all of these tools and you should use
this option.
SAP does not deliver an MSI file containing the installation information
for SAP frontend software.
An upgrade using the installation server (refer to the guide in the NW_7.0_Presentation\PRES1\DOCU\ folder
on how to recreate an installation server.) willl automatically uninstall the 7.10 gui in the process if installing the 7.20 Gui.

Installing SAPgui 720 using Microsoft SCCM (sms)

Microsoft System Center Config Manager.
On workstations that we installed the SAPgui update using MS SCCM 2007 we are not able to uninstall sapgui.
SAP has recommended that we use SAPgui installation server to install the updates (instead of a tool such as SCCM).
Please let me know if you have used MS SCCM (config manager) 2007 to install SAPgui 720, and if so, are you able to uninstall the sapgui from the control panel sucesfully?

We have a problem on deployment with SCCM/SMS centralized mode about the spalogon.ini file location :
We are preparing a deployment package to deploy SAPGUI v7.20 centralized and silent mode by SCCM on XP AND Windows 7.
This deployment should be accompanied by the deployment of customized saplogon.ini to give the path to the production server.
Currently, we encounter on Windows 7, the problem of the location of the saplogon.ini in a directory that allows use by all users who connect to the station.
As we have packaged for the moment, the installation is done via a user type admin, saplogon.ini is placed in a file specific to the user (on windows 7, it is a directory type X : \ Users \ <UserName> \ AppData \ Roaming \ SAP \ Common).
So, the user need manually reconfigure its SAP GUI session to point to the production server.
What we want is that the installation package performs all the operations:
* Installation of SAP GUI (that it works)
* Deposit of saplogon.ini in a directory accessible by any user connecting to the position
* Configuration of SAP GUI for that point on the saplogon.ini.
As sayed before, this installation package must be used both in Windows XP on Windows 7.

Patching and auto installing SAPgui for Windows

is it possibile to patch directoly SAPgui DVD installation with last released patch so we can install in one way SAPgui 7.10 and last patch ?
is it possibile to install SAPgui with unattended installation and/or without desktop interaction ? ... or with our saplogon.ini settings ?

Hi,
SAP GUI has a Installation server option, You can install installation server, create a package with required components & patch it. This package can be then extracted to a SELF EXTRACTING EXE, which can be installed on PC with minimal quesitons asked while installation.
One problem with this is that, it does not check if Microsoft DOTNET component is installed or not, so you may end up having BI components not working.

Install SAPGUI Front End 6.40

Hi all,
I would like install SAPGUI Front End 6.40 to users (circa 250 PC) for all sites in our organisation. I would like use SMS2003 from Microsoft. I created admin installation on PC. I started SAPAdmin and I created packege with selected components and package defination file for SMS. I thinked that I can create separate package and this use for SMS distribution, but I don't know how create separate package outside SAPAdmin, because I don't want use "SAP Installation Server". Could anybody help me?

SMS from Microsoft is not supported. Why don't you want to use the SAP Installation Server?

Failing to install sapgui

Dear all
i have an HP compaq 6720s after finishing installing sapgui its reporting a number of errors which shows that its failing to register some dll and ocx files to the os which is windows Xp. i hve installed different sapgui but its the same error. if its an os i have formatted the machine and its still the same error.
when login its giving me dump error. what can i do please help i have no basis guys to assists me

Hi Dimitry,
If you are using SAPGUI for Windows then you do not need to install java on your PC, but if you are using SAPGUI for java then you will need to install java separately. It depends on which OS you are using on your PC.
