Installed snow leopard and now all red colors look rusty orange.

All I did was install snow leopard on my mac pro and now all reds will shift to orange on one display and pink on my other. I've been using the exact same setup with just leopard and didn't have this problem so I am assuming it has definitely something to do with snow leopard. Anyone else have this problem? I've calibrated to the best of my abilities but it's still present. I can actually still see reds on say, a thumnail, but as soon as I enlarge the picture it will change color. I've looked on forums and have not found a solution.
Thanks!

I installed snow leopard and now videos on my Xfinity home page won't play

You may be in the same boat as me.
I deliberately bought a refurb Feb 2011 MacBook Pro, because it would have originally shipped with Snow Leopard. I have to run an application for my job, which does not run under Lion.
Unfortunately, Apple is now upgrading all Snow Leopard machines, before selling them as refurbs. I purchased a legal copy of Snow Leopard, and have tried various downgrade solutions that I found posted on the net, without success. No matter what I do, it always goes into "three beep mode" after trying to install Snow Leopard.
The latest development came this evening, while I was talking to the "geniuses" at Apple. Apparently, there is now a firmware revision that loads the first time you run Software Update under Lion, and it locks the machine so that it can't revert to Snow Leopard.
The only option they have been able to offer me so far, is to return the machine and get a refund. This is maddening, as I HAVE to have a Snow Leopard machine, and can't find any other way to purchase one.

  • I've installed snow leopard and now my MX860 won't scan

I've recently installed snow leopard and now my Canon MX860 won't scan.  I've reinstalled the scan driver from the Canon website.  Any other ideas?

I suggest that you open Print & Fax, select the MX860 under the scanner heading and remove it using the minus button. Then, still in Print & Fax, click the plus button to add the scanner again. The Add Printer browser will appear and with the Default icon selected the MX860 should appear as a printer and a scanner. Select the scanner entry and ensure the Print Using menu changes to Canon MX860 series. Click Add to complete the creation of the new scanner queue. Now test the new scanner by selecting it in the Print & Fax > Scanners list and then pressing Open Scanner.

You may have to remove & reinstall the AMDS, as described in that support article.

  • Upgraded to snow leopard and now all my time machine backups are gone

Could this be related to the upgrade? This backup is fine as I have nothing to recover, but I don't understand why time machine won't perform an incremental backup. There are 340GB on the disk with 160GB available. The error message I receive is "This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 275.15 GB but only 160.90 GB are available." Shouldn't back up just be making an incremental backup (erasing GBS?)

Normally, yes. How did you do the upgrade? If you erased your HD, installed Snow Leopard and used +Setup Assistant, Migration Assistant,+ or just drag & drop to restore your data, everything on the disk is considered changed, so Time Machine must do a full backup.
The 275 GB figure includes about 20% for workspace, so the estimated size of the actual backup is about 230 GB.
If that's a full backup, see #D3 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum) for the common causes.
If it's not a full one, see #D4 there.

  • I installed Snow Leopard and now I can't import pictures from iphone or memory chip.

I installed Snow Leopard to my Mac Book Pro and when I went to import pictures from my Iphone 4 to the Mac I received a message that it could not read the files.  I also tried importing pictures from my camera's memory card and got the same error.  This hadn't happened before the installation of Snow Leopard, what could it be?

update SnowLeopard to its latest version, v 10.6.8, and alongside that also your iTunes to v10.5
Use disk utility to repair the OS permissions after all updates are in place.

  • I have installed snow leopard and now can't watch BBC or ITV iplayers. Any help?

Can anyone tell me how I can watch BBC/ITV iplayers now that I have installed Snow Leopard?
    Thanks

Depending how you did the installation, you may still have Flash, but it will need updating to the latest version (not least for security reasons).

  • Help please! I have just installed Snow Leopard and now I can't access my gmail account. I can complete the sign in boxes ok but the blue indicator bar freezes and prevents access to my emails.

I have just installed Snow Leopard, (10.6.3) onto my Macbook Pro and so far it seems to be working fine except that I can't access my gmail account. I can sign in but the blue opening indicator freezes near the end and I can get no further. I'm a bit of a novice at this stuff - help please!

I would run the combo update to get to 10.6.8 in order to get the latest security updates and so forth. Then run Software Update until you system is current.

  • I installed "Snow Leopard" and now, "AppleWorks 6" is LOST FOREVER!......

Yes, I know that its an old Word Processor, but I didn't use it that often, and when I did,
it was good enough for my purposes.
So, when I installed the new "Snow Leopard", I found that it stopped AppleWorks 6 from functioning!...
I called "AppleCare" which I'm a member of, and they told me that I was out of luck. I had PAID for this program and Apple just decides not to make it compatible with Snow Leopard!..
So, I"m now looking for a FREE word processing program. I hope Version Tracker will have something.
Does anyone have any suggestions? PLease help!....thanks....

Okay, I'll do my best to go into more detail...
I"m using an iMac. And, I was also using "APPLEWORKS 6.2.9 wordprocessor program. Everything was going well until I decided to upgrade my OS to "Snow Leopard"... that was when Appleworks 6.2.9 stopped working!.
I then telephoned" AppleCare", which I am a member and they tried to help. they walked me thru installing "Rosetta" (a fix?)......and that didn't help at all!..I still could not use Appleworks 6.2.9. The Apple rep then told me that AppleWorks 6.2.9 could not ever be used with "SnowLeopard".
I had originally purchased AppleWorks in 2002 and had paid $84.34 (with tax). I have the original bill from Apple from whom I bought it from.
Now, I hope that this explains my problem. This has been a "learning experience" for me. I had no idea that when I decided to upgrade to "Snow Leopard" that it would DELETE my older word processor that I was happy with.
I always keep my iMac up to date. Right now its version 10.6.1. And, I keep it current with "Software Update"..
So, if anyone can tell me how to get my older AppleWorks 6.2.9 back, I'd surely appreciate it!..
And, yes again, I did install "Rosetta", but it did no good.
On a final note: What Apple did is remove a program that I had paid for without my knowledge!.
And, they now want me to pay $79.00 should I want their "iWork" word processor program.
No matter how you look at this....Apple robbed me!... if I wanted to keep a seven year old AppleWorks program in my computer, Apple had no right to remove it!...(at least ask!)...
So, what would you call that?...
    Thanks..

  • I recently cleared my hardrive and reloaded the install software including snow leopard and now the browser is extremely slow. Any ideas

I recently cleared my hardrive and reloaded the install software including snow leopard and now the browser is extremely slow. Any ideas

Your profile says OS 10.5.8, Snow Leopard is 10.6.
After installing Snow Leopard, did you do a software update? Apple menu / Software update ..
If you have not run it yet, do so. It will give you the highest versions of Snow Leopard and Safari. That might help.

  • I did a clean install of snow Leopard and now my iWork 09 will not work. does anyone one know where I can download the version for snow Leopard?

I did a clean install of Snow Leopard and now when I reloaded iWork 09 from my timemachine it will not open anything. any ideas.

iWork '09 is still available from the likes of Amazon.
Your experience is why I never trusted downloaded versions when there's a physical DVD available.
It may be possible to reactivate with your code, but I can't advise you as to how.

  • Just installed snow leopard and office for mac - now my computer is running very slow.  Why?

I've recently installed snow leopard and office for mac - now my computer is running very slowly - why?

Which version of office did you install? If its 2008 the early version had some problems and you will want to update the office software to i think it is 12.3.0
If it is 2011 you might want to do the same thing.

  • Since installing Snow Leopard and Lion two weeks ago, my iTunes program opens seemingly at will.  It usually starts playing music, too.  What is causing this?

Since installing Snow Leopard and then Lion on my Intel-based iMac two weeks ago, my iTunes program seems to open at will whenever the computer is on.   It often begins playing music, as well.  What is causing this and how do I make it stop?

There are ways to minimize, mitigate, and help avoid a lot of problems.
    Bootable backups.
Zeroing a drive twice before using, and format it with SL DVD Apple Disk Utility for sure.
Even a clean install should import old apps without having to reauthorize.
If you must do an upgrade, do it from the SL DVD, after repairing the drive and be sure to use the SL version of Alsoft Disk Warrior (4.2).
Wait six months before jumping on a new OS.
10% is still too many. Yes, it is more sensitive to RAM and hard drive errors, doesn't like some controllers; most ext hdd cases; and enough software to make for test-only status. And it only IDs some known incompatible applications, drivers, extensions, etc and does not remove even those always in best manner.
Plus, there are problems with the new Rosetta and the cache files it now uses. So some apps and plug-ins will cause more trouble. Not all are ready. Good reason to hold off for the months it takes.
Other devices act different as far as on/off behavior.
(Migrating from G5s to Mac Pro can cause all kinds of problems, weird behavior, sluggish system, and why anyone that went down that road was strongly recommended to NOT use Migration Assistant for any of their applications, and to ONLY do clean/fresh installs of any apps. If you skipped that day, didn't read the Guide to M.A., or didn't want to do fresh installs then, your system could have been on borrowed time. If you did do clean install of applications, great.
Installing SL can result in a corrupt directory - I think and it "seems" to be happening, but no real proof, just gut feeling and instinct (underlying file system problem? weak sectors that pre-existed waiting to happen?).
Remember all the "there just aren't a lot of 64-bit drivers" for Vista and XP? it's come home to roost.
... my guess is not enough incense and offerings. To hop into TimeMachine and SuperDuper backup images and pull the 1TB for another day (week, month, year).

  • Updated to snow leopard and now get blue screen

    Hi there,
I recently updated to snow leopard and now I get blue screen on start-up.
I manage to get to enter my password and then to my desktop for a few seconds before it flicks back to my login.
I tried using disk utility from the install disc and it said HD appears to be ok. But it hasn't solved the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
