Installed some free Audio Units.....

Hi Folks,
I Installed some free Audio Units but not all of them show up on the insert menu.
The units I installed were:
Bouncy.component
Crazy Ivan.component
Cyanide 2.component
LiveCut.component
MadShifta.component
s(M)exoscope.component
SupaPhaser.component
SupaTrigga.component
I put them in Library > audio > plugins > compnents.
In the AU insert menu I have access to Bouncy, Crazy Ivan, SupaTrigga and LiveCut but the rest don't show up.
Anyone any idea what I've done wrong?

Logic has a validation process. A lot of free stuff fails the validation and thus does not show up. You can force them to be used, but you mileage may vary. If Logic fails to validate a plugin, I go with the failure and just do not use it.

The games might be free but I think you've clicked In-App purchase which cost money. You are warned before you accept the In-App purchase. You not that young and you can read so take action if you must. It's your own fault and all purchases are final. Good luck.

Installing Third Party Audio Units

Wonder if anybody can help. I have just bought a G5 Dual 2.3 and Logic Pro 7.1 I can not find any way of "installing" third party plug ins. I have checked the ones I have ( Waves Platinum for AU for OSX ) and they are valid for Logic 7. I have put several plugs in Applications , but they are not even appearing in Logic Audio Units Manager. Im probably missing something really simpe here. Im also having the same type of problem trying out "demo" versions of some new AU instruments e.g. X treme FX and MOTU MX4 Soft Synth ( that is appearing in Audio Unit Manager but will not open, so maybe its not valid for Logic yet?) I don't quite understand what you mean when you say you can not find a way of "installing".
You should have installers for your AU's. If you doubleclick one of those, it should take you through the installation process. Apologies if this is what you have done, but I become a little suspicious when you say you have "put several plugs in your Applications folder". This is sometimes the right procedure when it comes to installing certain applications (e.g. Reason), but rarely or never the case with plug ins. You need an installer.
Now, If indeed you have gone through the installation process, it is still possible that the plug in question won't show up as available. As you rightly point out, it may be rejected by Logics AU Manager.
Check in your following folders:
HD/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components
and,
Home/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components
wich is were your AU's are supposed to be located.
If they are not there, they are not installed. If they are there, they should be scanned by AU Manager and be validated or refuted.
When you have checked the folders, you can open Logic and run AU Manager and check the status of your installed AU's. The ones that have failed or crashed can still be selected by checking the little box, with the risk of making Logic unstable. You will indeed get a warning every time you open logic, telling you how many failed AU's you're currently running.
So, check for installers, check your component folders and cross reference with the AU manager.
Again, sorry if this is at a beginner level for you, I could not quite make out where you're at.

Maybe off topic, but I need some free audio ripping software

I use STP extensively for post production, but I have to rip audio for 18 lessons from 8 DVDs. There is something out there for Win, but I am on 10.6.
Is there any freeware out there for OSX that will rip audio from DVDs to .mp3? Even if I can get .wav or .aiff I can cover to mp2 via soundbooth in CS4.
Please no shareware or "have to eventually buy it" software. I do have mac the ripper and mpeg steamclip. Can that be a route?

I am not sure which version to look for. There are so many on the update page. I am trying to get .mp3s from DVDs without having to spend 4 hours using multiple programs to rip the audio. For my first batch I used compressor to export as an .aif and then used soundbooth CS3 to save as an .mp3. I already had these files on my HD because I edited the video. I still have to rip audio from 8 DVDs and convert that audio to mp3 for file transfer to a client.

Final Cut Studio 2 issues with some AU Audio Plug ins

Just installed Final Cut Studio 2. When trying to open the program, every time it reaches the audio filters loading part of the load, it crashes. It's seeing Celemony Melodyne, a vocal tuning plug in, and then it just stalls and crashes. All attempts to remove Celemony Melodyne from my computer haven't seem to make any difference. It keeps trying to laod that plig in. Is there any way to tell FCStuido 2 to NOT look for certain audio filters(plugins) during the loading process?

You can use a free Audio Unit manager app (like AudioUnit Manager) or even better, use Jon Chappell's Plugin Manager tool (which is part of his excellent FCS Maintenance Pack)

Garageband Audio Unit (AU) problem

Hello, my name is Ryan Minor and I use Garageband to record original songs and I use my USB keyboard to use the software instruments. I recently installed Garritan Personal Orchestra and Toontrack EZDrummer and I know these programs are compatible with Garageband however, when I try to switch the generator on a midi track in Garageband, Personal Orchestra and EZDrummer do not show up on the list. I have tried other free Audio Units (Crystal) and they work fine. Is this a common problem that I am overlooking. Please help me so I can use these programs!

I think i may have found the problem, I am using Leopard 10.5.2 now and i do not think that the Personal Orchestra and EZdrummer audio units are compatible with leopard yet, I am thinking about reverting to tiger so I can use these again Let me know if you think this may be the case or if anyone else is having these same problems. Audio Unit Plugins & Intel Macs

Have anyone tried Logic 7.1 (PPC) with some PPC Audio Units in the new
MacBook Pro or any Intel Mac ?
Does it work ?
Or there's any way you can use Roseta or something else to use "old" AU plugins with Intel Processor ?

I doubt that would be possible because the native platform would expect the plug-ins to be on the same platform. Besides, a translated AU would grind audio engine in Logic to a halt.
From what I've seen on the forum, Logic on an Intel unit is not seeing PPC AU's.

Are the apps compatible with your model iPod and its iOS version? You say you have a iOS 4.2. That implies a 2G iPod. Many, many apps now require iOS 4.3 or later or a 3G or later iPod.
Also do you have Restrictions turned on that would d prevent installing those apps? Settings>General>Restrictions.

If someone knows, a little help would be appreciated:
When staring Logic Pro X, each time Audio Units are automatically being scanned. All the time I get a window with the message "Incompatible Audio Units found":
"While verifying Audio Unit compatibility, Logic Pro X encountered 1 Audio Unit plug-in(s) which did not pass the Apple AU validation. These plug-ins have been excluded from further usage in Logic Pro X to prevent possible problems or crashes. You can start the AU Manager now to review the validation results or continue the startup process."
When opening the Audio Units manager, I see that "AUSpeechSynthesis (Automap)applttsp" (Manufacturer: Apple, type: generator) couldn't be opened. I don't know how to remove or bypass this plug-in, as the option "disable failed audio units" doesn't seem to work. Now each time I start Logic Pro X, the same message keeps appearing. I also can't find that file on my Mac, a searched for it and also the Finder can't find it.
Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance!

I have the same problem but I can´t figure out how to unwrap AUSpeechSynthesis. I can´t even find it in the filesystem with spotlight..... ;o(
And yes I have turned on the 64bit plugin friendly option in Automap's Preferences.

I can't see Massive as an Audio Unit plug-in after successful install

The Audio Units Manager shows Massive as "successfully validated", but when I click on an empty Insert, it doesn't list Massive anywhere as an plug-in.
I am using:
Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
Massive 1.3.0 (R2050)
Logic Pro 9.1.6
All purchased legally.

Audio units scanner freezes LOGIC 7.2.3

I recentely installed a TC express board and in my mac g5 and everything was working fine.
all the plug ins and demo plug ins were great. I downloaded installed some sony oxford
plug ins and everything went according to directions. But now when I try to start logic pr 7.2.3
It trys to scan the plug ins (audio units) and the computer freezes and ask's to be restarted.
So I restart it, then it seems to scan a little further and freezes again asking for a restart.Ive tried re loading
the most current version of powercore software to no avail.
Any ideas, PLEASE

And, remember to keep 20% of your system hard drive EMPTY. this will help the computer deal with it's own processing.

Logic Pro 9 WILL NOT recognise EZdrummer in Audio Units Manager, HELP??

I recently purchased and installed Toontrack's EZdrummer plug-in to work inside Logic Pro.
However, after a week of trying, I for some bizarre reason cannot get Logic to recognize the plug-in/vst.
All week i've conquered the internet looking for solutions but sadly nothing has helped, i've tried everything from trashing cache files to rescanning audio units to manually moving files...STILL NOTHING!
This problem has annoyed many people as I scroll effortlessly down Google looking at other peoples quetions and responses, yet nothing works for me. PLEASE SOMEBODY KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS!

Basic Troubleshooting steps...
First of all Logic Pro cannot use VSTs.. It uses AudioUnit (AU) Plugins..
Have you checked the AU Manager (Found under the Logic Pro menu item...) to see if it installed and validated correctly
If it is not there, it did not install correctly in which case reinstall or failing that contact ToonTracks for assistance.
If it is there but not validated, select it and manually recscan it to validate it. If it fails to validated again contact ToonTracks..
if it is there and validated,
When you start a new project in Logic and create a Software Instrument track.. and then you press and hold the Software Instrument button in the track strip.. do you see the ToonTracks entry? (along with all the Logic Pro's plugins and other 3rd party AU Plugins you may have installed)
The Software Instrument button is located as shown in this screenshot..

Can't check audio units in preferences

I've been using GarageBand 10 for quite a while now. I've been using Audio Unit effects quite alot, especially one called ADT by vaccuumsound. The other day I came back to a project I had been working on to record some additional tracks. When I was going to add ADT to them it seemed to have disappeared, along with all other Audio Units I had installed. But the strange is that that the Audio Units appear on the old tracks I had already used them on. When I looked at preferences the Audio Units check box is inactive and I can't check the box. What can I do? Please can someone help me with this or at least explain why this is happening?

Will this sample rate be compatible with FCE?
(Video production often uses a 48kHz Sample Rate. You may need to convert your file before importing it into FCE. However, you don't have much choice if using GB, as it requires 44.1kHz.)
