"Installed Updates Does Not Show 10.5.7"

Yesterday I upgraded my late 2008 2.53 MBP to Mac OS X 10.5.7 via the combo updater because the "Software Update" function gave me the "...digital signature..." error message reported in other threads. Prior to performing the update I used "Disc Utility" to verify the status of my HD and I also repaired permissions and followed the other steps (in the correct order) described in detail in a very helpful posting from Kappy regarding this. However, I have since noticed several small but bothersome errors: the "ignore trackpad when mouse is present" option is missing from my "Trackpad" preference pane and I also don't have the restored/enhanced settings in my "Energy Saver Preferences" option on the battery bar. Of even more concern is the fact that when viewing my "Installed Updates" in the "Software Update" preference pane I do not see the 10.5.7 update identified; however, I do see the previous 10.5.6 update identified correctly. Looking at "About this Mac" does reveal "version 10.5.7" but I am concerned that something is wrong. I have also re-downloaded and re-installed the 10.5.7. combo update but no joy. I appreciate any thoughts on what my other options might be.

For the EnergySaver prefPane anomalies, you might move the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist out of /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration to the Desktop, restarting, and see if resetting them works.
To get the update listed in the SU window, it has to do the installation. Alternatively, open /Library/Logs/Software Update.log with TextEdit, add this line, for example (from mine),
*2009-05-12 21:24:07 -0800: Installed "Mac OS X Update" (10.5.7)*
followed by a return, save the file, and quit TextEdit. Now, it should show up in the list.
I would add "manual-delta" or "manual-combo" or some such tag to distinguish it from an automatic update, which is not exactly the same thing. Maybe just MD or MC?

Privacy Badger is installed but does not show. Shows in Chrome & IE. Using Firefox 36 & Windows 7 Pro. All updates are current.

Which version of Privacy Badger do you have installed?
Is it '''enabled''' in the Add-ons Manager in Firefox?
The 0.1.4 version from AMO - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/ - is an old version that doesn't have an "UpdateURL" to tell it where to get an update from. For some reason EFF hasn't updated the version at the official Mozilla Add-ons website since June 2014 - "Firefox 21 and later" - but only up to Firefox 29.0a1 ''(the pre-release alpha tester version from like late-2013)''.
The 2.5 version from EFF - https://www.eff.org/privacybadger - is "spec'd" as compatible thru the future Firefox 40.0 version. That one should work for you. If it doesn't, you'll need to contact EFF for support for their add-on - they made it and should support it.

I changed my browser fill and the update does not show in the preview mode. I saved and restarted muse but the problem is still there. Any thing else I can do? Could it be something that changed in the file?

    Hello,
What did you put in the "browser fill" area, an image or a color? WIth gradient or with solid color? Also, does it show fine if you "Preview in Browser"?
Screenshots showing the Browser fill section (like this: http://screencast.com/t/RHqdVPP4) and the display in Preview mode would also be helpful.

  • ITunes 10.6.1 update does not show newly imported music in viewer but files are in iTunes media folder, how to correct?

Updated to iTunes 10.6.1.7 today from 10.5 on a Win 7 SP1 64-bit machine and attempted to add new music to the library by both drag-n-drop and import files; this new music does not show up in the library viewer but has been added to the iTunes media folder. My iTunes 10.5 version was working properly prior to the update. Any recommendations to correct this issue? Thanks!

Immediately after the install, Windows was rebooted. I also attempted multiple variations of closing and restarting iTunes and/or reboot Windows. iTunes was unresponsive to mp3 files being added. Since I was unable to see the added music files to the library, I did not try to add other files.
Out of frustration, I let iTunes run over night and to my surprise the added music appeared in the library viewer the following morning.  I can now add new mp3 (and AAC also) music files to the library and it immediately appears in the viewer.  How or why it now works is a total mystery.

  • How do I find duplicate songs which the latest itunes libary update does not show?

How do you find duplicate songs in itunes which the latest updated version of itunes does not show, where the older version did?

    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
Try activating the sidebar, menu bar, and status bar and see if this is close enough to the previous version to make you content.  It is easier than downgrading and eventually you will be forced to run a newer iTunes unless you have an endless supply of the model computer you currently own.
You may be able to go back with Time Machine but this may involve restoring other items too (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441404).  Alternatively:
Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens.
    Quit iTunes.
Get iTunes 10.7 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576 or the direct download link at:  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394.  Do steps 3 and 4.  Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential.  Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved.  Two ways to do this are:
    1.  (Easier) Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
    2. (More work) Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:
Delete iTunes in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/13/delete-itunes-in-mac-os-x-10-7-lion/
After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. You may want to tuck these away somewhere safe until you have completed the installation of iTunes 10.7.  I have not tested this but ideally if newer versions are not found then the installer will put in the old versions. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:
    AirTrafficHost.framework
    CoreFP.framework
    DeviceLink.framework
    iTunesAccess.framework
    MobileDevice.framework
After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. Rename it "iTunes Library.itl"  and replace the existing one in the iTunes folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since.  See:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/20401436 - turingtest2 11/2012 post on rebuilding empty/corrupt library from previous iTunes library file after upgrade/crash.

iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 > Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) - including specific error codes.
Alternatively, check https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441424 which requires you have a Time Machine backup (though possibly if you remove the newer version of these files old ones may be installed with the iTunes 10.7 installer - untested).  A  variant of this is at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20448184

  • Pages endnote plug in is installed but does not show up on insert menu

    I am running Imac 2009 w/ Mountain Lion and Pages 09 4.3 (1048)
I downloaded and installed the endnote X2 plugin (Pages_EndNote_Plug-in.pkg), The installer indicated the plug-in was installed successfuly.
However, it does not show up in/on the Pages Insert Menu as expected.
Also, my Apple wireless mouse stopped scrolling.
    Any ideas?

Yes, but I was told it also came with iwork disk for 9.0.5. I thought I would try the download since my iwork version on disk is 9.0.1. So, no plug in on the disk.
Trying the plug in I guess was a bad idea. But the EndNote program is @$250.00. Too much for my limited use.
I did not fint a "Pages" plug-in in the App store or on the EndNOte web site.
    Thank you for your help.

  • HT4623 iOs6 update does not show up on iPad2.

I am trying to add an application and it requires the iOS6 update.  The update is not showing up under my settings.
    HELP!

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button
    Updating to iOS 5+ : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
Your iPad update to iOS 6.0.1, so you will lose the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change.

  • HT1338 Software Update does not show 10.8.5 Security Update 2014-002

I continue to have Mac 10.8.5 updates which do not show in the App Store Software Update.  In the past it was always iTunes which didn't show.  Now it's this security update.  Why would Software Update not show these available updates?  Instead it shows Mavericks and such as available updates, but not the current available security update for my version of OS X.  I'm only aware an update exists because of online forums.  Is this a widespread issue that is affecting everyone on Mt Lion?

Already tried that.  We set up iClound under a new user account and it did not work.
(We tested iCloud Mail with Apple Sr. support yesterday, in a new user account.  It did not work.  Note, iCloud via web access via Safari of course will work, accessible from any computer.  That is not computer-specific.  But iCloud mail would not work on my Mac, nor in the Mail app, even under a new test user account.  This was mentioned briefly in previous post above.)
Regarding re-installing ML, Apple support have never suggested that.  They have only suggested moving my current data to a new user account, which as I mentioned is not realistic, and now with the new iCloud problem across any new user account, would not solve the problem.
How do you mean to re-install ML?  Erase the HDD, reinstall ML, then restore from Time Machine?
I think Apple has not suggested that so far because they believe the problem is in the current Mac data, user account, and not in the system.  They have told me migrating to a new Mac or even to Mavericks probly would not solve the problem.  But now that it's a systemic issue with iCloud -- my previous issues with Software Update not working and appeared to be user account-specific, and still are – perhaps replacing the system software or upgrading to Mavericks will be worth considering.
They are currently elevating my case to "engineering."  They will be looking at system data, I believe...
    It's incredibly frustrating.

  • Software Update/iTunes Update does not show any new updates

My mac is on a new internet provider and OS X update, and even iTunes update, no longer work properly. The OS update reports no new updates (even though new updates exist: TimeMachine and Airport Update v1.0, Security Update 2008-002 v1.0,...).
The problem has been isolated to an outgoing IP address: 24.29.138.* (cpe-24-29-138-??.nyc.res.rr.com, where ?? is a range of ip addresses 11 to 96) used or referenced whenever OS Software update or iTunes update is run. Whois reports the IP range as Road Runner, presumable residential services (and not apple). The outgoing service provider has that range of IP addresses blocked.
Anybody else see this? Anybody know why the mac update services reference *.nyc.res.rr.com? Any solution besides taking my mac to another internet provider service for updates?
    Thanks.

    Kappy,
Yes, cable modems were switched. Never had RoadRunner/Bright House service (now or then). Went from Cox to Uverse. Believe the MacBook was added after service providers were changed, but nonetheless, have reset the mac at least twice (upgrade from Tiger to Leopard required tech support to get it working, which included several "hard" resets), the modem/router has been reset several times (with several instances of +24 hours between shut-down and restarts). The fiber service has the modem and router combined, so resetting is a single operation.
From Network Settings, I have valid IP addresses and it is using DHCP.
I have VirusBarrier installed, along with NetBarrier, which is how I learned about the odd outgoing connection via RoadRunner during mac/iTunes updates. VirusBarrier reported no spy/malware.
When you run Mac OS Software Update or attempt to download iTunes updates, your system does not connect (or attempt to connect) to any non-apple IP addresses? Just like to confirm if anybody else see this or not?
Even posting to this discussion board causes an outgoing connection to cpe-24-29-138-65.nyc.res.rr.com TCP Port 54450 and working up to 54537, appears to be an outgoing message every 30 seconds to the next Port in sequence.
Any ideas what is happening? Booted up the Powerbook G4 on the same network, has the same outgoing connection to nyc.res.rr.com.

  • CS6 update does not show HTML5 option in Insert Bar... still seeing Media from CS5.5... ???

I've updated CS5.5 to CS6 repeatedly, and I've then installed the CS6 update for Dreamweaver... I don't have the HTML5 option in the Insert Bar...
    What now???  Thanks, Terry

You don't get option for HTML5.  It is already there as part of HTML.  The only thing you need to do is to set the default document type to HTML 5 as shown in this picture:
Once you have got the default document type, all your new pages will be HTML 5 compliant and the HTML codes you use will be HTML5 compliant and your pages will look identical on all HTML5 compliant browsers.  All current browsers are HTML5 compliant to some degree.  Even IE 10 and 11 is HTML5 compliant
    Hope this helps.
