Installed Win7 in bootcamp, now I'm stuck in Windows.

So after I did my win 7 install I cant get back to OSX, so I ened up reinstalling Lion, was there a better way that I missed?

The OPTION key should have, and of course - a bit of research before beginning.
Most things are in Boot Camp Assistant Guide for before you even start (Assistant even recommends printing out the 28 page guide first) http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
THAT page should be or is a MUST for reading and checking (most products do have just such a support page as in www.apple.com/support/ + "name" )

  • After installing win7 in bootcamp mac mini start only in windows

I did install win 7 Home edition premium on my mac mini the same way as I did on my iMac.
After the install I could booth Win7 but there was no bootcamp icon and it would always boot in win7.
No way to go back to Mac OS whatever key press I tried. And there was no bootcamp.exe.
As I am unning Lion and there i no DVD I installed bootcamp in Windows using the leopard DVD.
After restart it came back to Win7 and now the bootcamp icon was there. THrough teh bootcamp
icon i was able to restart in Mac OSX. From there I checked the harddrive and no error was reported.
I then when to bootcamp and set it to restart in Mac OSX. It did restart but didn't boot at all. Just get
    the beep and that's it.
Nothing helps: option, D, Shift, P&R,...
I had a problem before that the Mac Mini would shutdown with no reason and no warning at random
times. I brought it to the Apple store and they allegedly repaired it. Could this be related?
I have other Mac mini (Intel) older and  also the previous version with the DVD as well as a Mac Book Pro
and an iMac with excatly the same  configuration and never had any problem.
    I need help thanks,

    yes, no luck there either.
Now I cannot boot at all.
I never had a problem wih the Mac OSX side only that  crappy microsoft software. Unfortunately
there are a lot of woftware that I need for my work that only exist under micorsoft.

  • Having problem installing Win7 using Bootcamp on Mac Mini 2011

I'm trying to install Win7 using bootcamp on my new Mac Mini 2011. I first partitionned the disc using Bootcamp assistant. Then during Win7 installation I select Partition 4 BOOTCAMP, format it to NTFS, then when I try to select the drive, it says that the drive is not compatible for the installation.
    Is there anything I missed???
    Thanks

I had a similar problem when I selected upgrade instead of complete install. I want to make sure your aware that you should click the complete option instead of upgrade when you reach that portion of the win7 install. Then you need to select part ion 4 like you have stated and format it to ntfs.
But it seems that you've already done all of that. My advice would be to go back to the Mac side, restore the partition using bootcamp and again partition it. You need at least 25gb of space for 64 bit. I would recommend using at least 40gb. Just trying to help. I apologize if I misunderstood your problems. But make sure you click on the opposite choice of upgrade, I did my mini last night lol but I can't remember the exact name of the option I think it's complete, then select part 4 and click format....

  • Problem installing win7 in bootcamp via usb

Hi, I switched my early 2011 MBP's superdrive with a Corsair SSD a couple of months ago and managed to install windows 7 on it with a usb key and bootcamp using the VMWare method (A long and tricky process, but it worked). Everything was working well until some system files on my win7 drive were damaged (Impossible to launch the wlan service, frequent random freezes, etc.). I tried to repair the system install but wasn't able to do so (Impossible to repair on boot since I have no DVD drive and my system restore option was unabled for disk space reasons...). I then tried to reinstall (overwrite) windows 7 via bootcamp (I created a new win7 install usb stick, then tried to reinstall it at boot but it said something like "No installation disc found, please insert the win7 install dvd and press any key", in other words, windows boot utility wasn't able to see my usb stick).
Now, my situation is the following: I managed to boot back on OSX, I see my second SSD but it's now empty and formatted as "BOOTCAMP" (not a problem since I want to reinstall win7 completely).
Is there any way I could still make a fresh win7 install via USB on that SSD drive or is it easier if I just remove the second SSD from my MBP and install win7 on it by connecting it to my PC...?
    Thank you,
    Jean.

  • I have installed nvidia graphics drivers on windows 7 (bootcamp) now i can't use windows, it's just a black screen, how do i resolve this?

I have installed nvidia drivers from nvidias website for my geforce gt 650m on my early 2013 macbook pro retina 15", now i can't use windows in bootcamp, whenever i go into windows it turns into a black screen before i can see my desktop. How do i resolve this?

From the home screen, double click the home button to bring up the Recently used App list. Find the App with the problem and hold your finger on it untl the Apps start to shake. When that happens tap on the (x) on the right side corner of the app to close it.
Tap the home button again to get back to the home screen, and try to open the App again.
If that doesn't work, try resetting the iPad. (there should be no data loss):
Press and Hold the Power and home buttons until the Apple Logo shows up. Ignore any sliders that may appear.
When the iPad turns back on, try opening the App again.

  • Installing win7 using bootcamp on external HD

    Hi
I am on late 2008 macbook running mountain lion, i want to install win 7 but on an external hard drive. Is it possible?
Cause when i open bootcamp it tries to make a a partition on my primary HD and it can't see the external one.

Connected to an internal SATA port, or to a bootable PCIe controller.
Which means - never used laptop - there could be some Express card slot PCIe device for MacBook Pro - but  I don't know of any.
I do have eSATA on some PCs that do allow install and booting but they are connected directly to the motherboard.
Paragon has a utility for Windows to put Windows on external devices but I think it is overkill and not what you want - useful for taking Windows with you.

  • Ethernet port won't work on Win7 from Bootcamp install?

hey guys, i was just trying to install Win7 via Bootcamp. Win7 boots up with no issues at all, but i can't connect to the internet because the ethernet isn't picked up or it doesn't work. i must have done something wrong in Bootcamp -- what can i do?
    thanks

Did you install the Boot Camp drivers for Windows?
You can download them if you haven't already from Boot Camp Assisstant.
Open Boot Camp Assisstant (/Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assisstant.app) and click on continue. On the next page tick only "Download the latest Windows support software from Apple". Click on Continue again, and then save them onto some external storage you will be able to access from Windows. Once that is complete, restart in Windows, connect your external storage, find a folder on it called WindowsSupport, open it, and double-click on setup.exe. This will install drivers for all of your Mac's hardware, including the Multi-Touch Trackpad, access to HFS storage volumes, and most importantly, ethernet.

  • Installing Win7 on a macbook pro using a mac mini as external optical drive

    hi everyone,
My 2 year old son watches movies on my macbook pro. He stuck something in the optical drive making it unusable. Repairing it is 200 to 300 euros (ouch).
I want to install win7 via bootcamp and I'm using my mac mini (october 2009) as an external optical drive. These are my steps:
1.hold the "t" on the mac mini
2.connect it to the macbook with a firewire 800 to firewire 400 cable
3.Power up and hold the "alt" on the macbook
4.I see the optical drive on the boot screen and I choose it
5.Then I get a blank screen and a few seconds later the "missing operating system" message appears.
Am I missing something? Is it possible to install win7 using a mac mini as an external drive?
PS1:I already have partitioned the HD with bootcamp.
PS2:I've upgraded the hard disk drive of the macbook with a seagate momentus 500GB hard disk. Don't think this is the problem, thought I should mentioned it.

    Hi Mike,
For reference it is called "IP over Firewire".
Connect the two computers with a fire wire cable. System Preferences > Network > Configure IPv4: > Manually > IP address: 192.168.3.1 (and .2 on other) > Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0. Leave the other fields blank. Do this on both computers on the computer you want to allow access to or both for two way access go to System Preference > Sharing > Select a service to change its settings. Turn remote Login on.
On the MBP go to the Finder Menu > Go > Connect to Server > Type in the IP address of the Mini 192.168.3.2 (Whatever you gave it)
With this configuration you still have full use of the Mini and certain apps can use Xgrid and use the processor of the mini when it is not doing anything. I would keep the Mini as 10.4 unless you really need both machines running Leopard. As noted before you cannot boot the MBP from a HDD that is Apple Partition Scheme and vice versa you cannot boot the PPC from a Guide Partition Table.
    Sweet Polly

  • Can't install WIN7 with an external USB DVD

    Hi,
Read all posts regarding the install of WIN7. Still none actually worked for me.
    1. Details: MacMini late 2009, OS X Mavericks, unusable Apple SuperDrive, external Asus DVD on USB. Stick with drivers for WIN7, created by downloading them from Apple website as BootCamp refuses to create it. WIN7 DVD.
    2. Steps I did:
    a. I tried using BootCamp. First issues, BootCamp refuses to create the USB with support for WIN7. After hours of searching on forums, I did it myself by downloading an archive from Apple.
    b. I tried then just to install WIN7. BootCamp cannot see the DVD. Of course I used external DVD since the SuperDrive is not reading any DVD/CD.
    c. Looking on YouTube, I tried a different approach. I created a partition for WIN in DiskUtility, started Mac and pressing ALT. Unfortunatelly the external DVD was not seen, so I could not acces WIN setup files.
    d. Found a crazy solution (too crazy to try it) in which I had to add some lines in some OS file: such as MacMini Model Indetifier and BOOT ROM version. It supposed to let my MacMini to install WIN7 from an external DVD. Here is the website for those that have courage to do it:
    http://mihail.stoynov.com/2013/04/22/force-boot-camp-into-using-an-iso-image-of- windows-to-create-the-usb-flash-drive-for-mountain-lion-with-updated-boot-camp/
    3. It worked on OS X 10.8. I installled WIN7 from that external DVD by using BootCamp without any trouble. Worked like charm.
    4. Why I need WIN7. To run FrameMaker10 and CorelDraw X6. I need them in my work.
I would really appreciate any valuable input. I really need to install WIN7 by the end of this week.
    Thank you.
    Sebastian

Mac OS X will only boot PowerPCs with Firewire, not with USB. That's the reason it doesn't work.
