Installed WinXP Pro as ACPI or non ACPI on MSI 6330 board

Hi,
Recently I got myself an MSI K7T Turbo (MSI 6330 Ver 3.0) mobo. Now, I'm in the process of setting up my Duron 1.2GHz system using this mobo.
I would like to know whether this mobo is an APCI motherboard or not? Which installation option is good for my system, an ACPI enabled OS or Standard PC OS? WHat's the pro & con for these 2 types of OS installation?
Thanks,
Felix

Rwmanning,
You can try to use the Li'veDrvUni driver. Go to the driver download page and do a search for this filename - Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe
But as your sound card came pre-installed from your Dell system. This OEM sound card may require special driver from Dell and may not work with the above driver.
Gi've it a try, if not you should check with Dell for the OEM card driver.

  • Re: Installing WinXP Pro SP2 / Boot Camp - Drive Bay 2 - which partition?

I am stuck and I can't seem to find the answer through Google searches.
I have a Mac Pro and I am working on installing WinXP Pro SP2 on a second SATA drive. It is a 500gb drive by Western Digital and it happens to be the same size as the Mac OSX drive - 500gb.
Because they are alike in size I can't tell which is which in the installer. Here are my options:
    476938mb Drive
    H: Partition 1 (Unknown) - 476938 free
    476938mb Drive
    I: Partition 1 (Unknown) - 200mb free
    C: Partion 2 (Unknown) - 476938 free
My guess is to install WinXP on the H: partition and I just want to confirm this as I don't really wish to wipe out my MacOS on the drive in Bay 1.
Can anyone confirm this? I wished this was addressed in the Boot Camp Installation Guide. They only address one drive that is partitioned, not two seperate drives. Also nothing listed shows up with the label BOOTCAMP.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

    Pull your OS X drive.
XP and Vista 32-bit only give you 1.9GB of RAM.
If you don't need native access or 3D you might just want to later use it with Fusion, VirtualBox or Parallels.
Apple uses GPT (GUID) which creates those small 200MB and 128MB partitions you see that are essential.
For me, I would just format the drive as MBR, and FAT/MSDOS or if you have NTFS from MacFUSE or Paragon, format as NTFS (preferable), and pull OS X and then install.

  • Fail to install WinXP Pro on KT3 Ultra2

    Hi,
I've been trying to install WinXP Pro on KT3 Ultra 2 box, but it always stalled at the point after it loads all the driver and says "Setup is Starting Windows" on the lower status bar. I notice a quick flicker on the keyboard light and the keyboard is no longer responding.
    My hardware:
    Athlon XP2200+
    MSI KT3Ultra2 Bios v5.5
    MSI G4Ti4200 128MB
    Corsair XMS 2700 512MB
    WD1000JB
    Adaptec 2930 SCSI w/ Pioneer 305S
    Antec Performance Plus 860
    Swiftech MCX462
    Default BIOS w/ 133FSB
I also tried the install the same setup using an old Matrox Millenium II 4MB video card but if failed at the same point.
    Any clue will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

After reading a couple of posts that suggest users to remove all unnecessary devices during install, I decided to remove all my SCSI devices, take an old IDE CD-ROM drive, and BINGO.. the install went smoothly.
I guess the problem has something to do with the SCSI card and its devices. Very strange. I didn't think that booting from a SCSI DVD-ROM could be a problem.
Thanks again for all the replies!

  • How to install WinXP Pro over W2k on the Satellite Pro 6100?

    Hi there,
    I have brought a 2nd hand Satellite Pro, Model version SP6100 (PS610E-029ZV-EN), P4 1.7Ghz, 512Mb, 30GB, with Windows 2000 Pro installed.
I cannot get the wireless to connect to my router. The switch is in the correct position.
I have been advised that it could possibly be a conflict between the wireless facility and Win2000 Pro. Therefore I want to change to WinXP Pro using the key supplied with the laptop from new (dual OS). However I can't get it to reformat using an WinXP Pro disk at start up, the disk is ignored and Win2000 Pro loads. If I use the recovery cd (start with holding C down and release when it runs up) something begins which I presume to be an installation sequence however within seconds I see a reference to a z drive(?), a brief display of three rows of "invalid drive specification" and it again loads Win2000 Pro.
Can anyone advise how (or if!) I can reformat?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

Possibly its a wrong booting order but usually after pressing the C button the notebook should boot up from the CD.
You said the drive does something and I think the booting from drive was activated but the drive is not able to read from the medium.
For me it sounds like a drive malfunction.
By the way: Check in the device manager if your notebook has installed WLan card. I think you cannot connect to WLan router because the card was not installed. The WLan switch is available because the WLan card is optional for this notebook. You know?

  • K8N Neo3-F Mobo problem - Can't install winXP Pro

I am building my second computer.  The system consists of the following components:
    K8N Neo3-F mobo
120GB Western Digital Hard drive ( SATA )
    Floppy Drive
    Sempron 3100 754pin
    Pioneer DVR 111D
    1GB memory ( single stick )
    Video Card - MSI 7300GS 256
Can't get winXP to install.  Always get errors of some kind or other.  First error was the STOP 0x0000008E Page Fault and NON-paged area.  Then others
during subsequent reinstall attempts.  The page fault error only showed up one time.  Sometimes the installation failes only during the Registering Components part of the install.
During POST, the memory check comes back as OK.
Have used Western Digital's Lifeguard utility to check the hard drive, says OK.
Any ideas of what to do next ?????

    Beaudog53,
Run Memtest86 and let it run for several hours. (What are the specs on your RAM?)

  • MSI MEGA 180 - Installing WinXP Pro

I have been reading the various posts on the MSI MEGA 180 and it seems evehas had a lot of eperience with them!
I have bought one, and have tried installing Windows XP Pro on it, and this is where it all goes wrong.
I start the installatiuon process, go through the text-only bit, and get to the graphicy bit. Then, the process either just freezes, or comes up with the blue screen of death with a STOP error, usually IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
I have tried the MS Knowedgebase KB314063 which suggests changing the power settings, but have had no luck with that.
    Here is my spec:
    -MSI MEGA 180
    - W6796MS V3.3 121003 18.25.07
    -AMD Athlon XP 1800+
    - 1 x 512mb RAM PC2700
    Many thanks in advance,
    Nick.

    Thanks for your help.
Brent92663's suggestion about the memory got me thinking. I didn't have any other 100mhz memory (PC2100) so I kept my 133mhz (PC2700) memory in, but changed the settings in the BIOS so it operated at 100mhz, and it now works fine!
(If anybody wants to know how todo this, let me know).
    Very strange....
I have yet to try it with the normal settigns, but it is something todo tomorrow!
    Thanks a lot,
    Nick.

  • BIOS Compatibility between WinXP Pro and Vista Home Premium

I want to install WinXP Pro on my pc.  I have a Desktop 3000 J115, Model 7387-A11 and it came with Vista Home Premium.  I want to make sure that the BIOS can support either OS.  If it cannot, I would like to know how to get the correct BIOS.  I realize that there may be a few BIOS settings that are different between the OS's.
    Thanks

This is not a right forum to post this problem. You should post it in Database General Forum.
I've Windows Vista Home Edition 32 bit.
In my laptop it is running but screen resolution changes to basic colour. Due to this, some graphical distortion occurs in few places. Also, refresh in the query grid needs to be perform when you are scrolling SQL Developer data from top to bottom or vice versa.

  • T410 - WinXP Pro Taskbar hangs and system takes forever to shutdown

    Hi,
I've been having a weird issue with my T410. I created 3 partition on the HDD, one ntfs which i install WinXP Pro, that i downgraded using IBM recovery disk (since mine came with Win7 x86). My 2nd partition, is using ntfs with win7 x64, which i clean installed using a different license. Im reserving my 3rd partition to install my linux soon. Win7 on my machine works awesome. On the other hand, my XP is running nuts, the taskbar hangs every other minute and the system takes forever to shutdown (sometimes i just dont bother to wait,i'd just force shutdown). After I click Start>Shutdown, some of the programs will start to slowly close, and then it just hangs there. If i try to open any programs, i get an error message saying that the system has initiated shutdown, but it just hangs there for like good 5 minutes. Task manager wont open during that time too...I've tried uninstalling some programs that i thought might be distrupting the shudown to no avail. Can anyone suggest me anything else that i can do?
On the worse case scenario where i **might** need to reinstall my XP using the recovery disk again, would it be possible to keep my other partitions intact? I dont remember seeing that option in any of the IBM's that i've worked with. That option came standard with my old toshiba..
    Btw, im running a T410, i5 540, 4gigs DDR3 RAM, if that helps.
    Thanks
    Huz

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
    Check for Login Items
Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any files or apps you have listed there.
And go to /Library/Startup Items. Move any files in the Startup Items folder to the Trash
If there's enough disk space and login items aren't an issue, launch Disk Utility. The startup disk may need repairing.
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Select: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions).
If the disk needs repairing >
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Can I use WinXP Home serial number using WinXP Pro install disc

    Hello everyone,
I am going to downgrade from Vista to XP (my DELL machine was originally XP Home) but I don't have my old XP install files anymore.  I did do have a Windows XP Professional SP3 install disc.  My question is:  Would I be able to use my serial number using the WinXP Pro install disc for a clean install?  (I am going to format my C drive.)
    Thanks!

Hey there! You would not be able to use the Home Key with a Professional disc.

       Please help me!
       Thank u very much!!

Clinton don't worry about MS not supporting XP anymore. It is still one of the BEST MS OSs ever written (Win 7 being equal to XP in stability and usability). Just becasue they won't issue any more updates for it doesn't mean it can't still be used for YEARS to come.

  • 8i client install in WinXP Pro

I'm trying to connect to an 8i database via VPN. I have no Oracle software installed on my WinXP Pro workstation. I downloaded the 8.1.7 client and saved it on a CD. When logged in as administrator I insert the CD the autorun window pops up and I select Install/Deinstall Products. The CD spins, the hard disk thrashes, but nothing happens.
    What am I doing wrong?

Yes, I have been having the same problem on Win2k with Pentium 4 processor, which appears to be the issue.
    Here's the workaround:
Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000 with Pentium 4 only
Copy all the files/folders from the oracle 8i CD on to a folder on your c: drive. Do NOT name this folder Oracle.
Change the name of the symcjit.dll file.
For Windows XP: Change from symcjit.dll to symcjit_disc.dll
For Windows 2000: Change the symcjit.dll to symcjit.dll.ori
The path to this file is:
    C:\stage\components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\Data Files\Expanded\jre\win32\bin
Now go back to your main c: drive directory and run the setup file.
Alternatively the 1507768 will do the trick.

  • WinXP PRO install issue with SATA RAID floppy on P45D3

    Hello,
My objective is to set up 2 RAID volumes (one in RAID0 + one in RAID1) using Intel RAID Matrix Manager.
After having enabled RAID mode on BIOS, created the 2 RAID volumes and pressed F6 at the beginning of WinXP PRO installation without any problem, I am stuck when one file from Intel SATA RAID driver floppy needs to be written on the disk.
The problem appears after having confirmed the partition I want to install WinXP on. I got the following message:
"Cannot write iaStor.sys" . And I have to cancel the installation.
I do not know where this file has to be written ... Additionally, this file was perfectly read (and written somewhere) just after having pressed "S" and provided the floppy during the first phase of WinXP installation.
Any suggestion to help me ?
    Thanks

How did you solved this ?
I Googled and found this page which was very useful (the blue text is a link; you can click on it).
In fact I already knew how to do it using nLite (which I normally use), but now I tried their F6 floppy advice for educational purposes and that worked as well!
Key is that the files have to be present twice, on different locations on the floppy...

  • Need help! Cant Install the New WINXP Pro with SPK2 on it!

Please Help before I chuck this board back to where it came from...
Iam having major issues with a K8N Neo Platinum NF250g and a New WINXP Pro with SPK2 on it already.
The problem is that WINXP Pro wont get pass the setup stage after a full format.
It gets to about 45 to 56% and then the famous Blue Sceen of Death appiers with a problem saying that " If you have any new Hardware or Software installed to remove it or disalble it...
My first thourts where I havent plug somthing in right. So I go and check everything and find that theres nothing wrong. I do it again and same thing BSOD again. So me thinks maybe my graph card has  it self. Put my old MSIFX5700.
boot up, quick format and samething again. So I think maybe the ram isint sitting in right. Move Geil DRR 400 512m to DIMM2 and well it didint boot up. LOL.
So I move it back and take out me Sound Blaster Live 5.1 and then trying the whole all over again. Quick Format. Now in Setup 45% Blue Screen of Death...
I have even tried swapping HD's around and still got the same resault.
So I decided to install a Coppied Version with WINXP Pro with Service PK1 on it.
It acuttuly got passed the setup and finaly booted windows.
I was starting to think that the WINXP pro I brought was stuffed. Untill I installed Doom3, StarWars BattleFront and FarCry. All of the games will with in 5mins of starting up. I get the  windows saying that it has encouted an error at this adress
    STOP: 0x000000A (0x408ce16c, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x80818652)
This is same as what I get with the Blue Screen of Death.
The only thing that I can think of is that the AGP port is stuffed.
Please can someone help me solve this problem!!!.

    1* WD200g

Seriously - It could be as asimple as a badly recorded CD/DVD.
I have a DVD with winxp+sp2 slipstreamed, plus unattended setup + it installs all my apps, drivers and registry changes :D (http://unattended.msfn.org is a great site for this )
Anyway - I had exactly the same problem and I thought it was this motherboard and did all kinds of , formatting FAT/NTFS removing RAM blah blah blah. after about 10 failed install attempts, I re-recorded the DVD on my GF's machine (I keep the .iso as a backup!)
And boom 1st time no problems

  • Installing Dreamweaver CS6 on WinXP Pro (was: I give up!!!!!)

Has anyone ever successfully installed Dreamweaver CS6 under WinXP Pro? The install went OK but when I try to launch DW it starts the launch and after 3-4 seconds of the launch process it quits/exits. I have tried everything on multiple forums such as de-install, cleanup, re-install under Admin account, delete and install new admin account, registry cleanup, install with NO user programs or services running, deleting profile folders etc. Oh yes, I successfully installed it on my laptop under Win7 and it runs fine. I have been struggling with this for a week or so. Anyone got any ideas?

I have and I have had no problems so far.  The only thing is I don't get any updates these days but I guess there aren't any.
For CC you need Windows 7 or Windows 8 so forget about it until you get a new machine.
