Installer Can Not Write Register(s)

iTunes in the LAST TWO upgrades (7.1 and now 7.1.1) can not (install correctly) write register errors (hello, I am admin - I should be able to do anything).
This is getting so **** old it is not longer even a funny joke like why did the chicken cross the road.
Installer can not FIX it's own errors. Error when trying to remove QuickTime... OMG - I am in the Wintel World and Apple is the problem.
So why is the installer unable to install it's own software without errors and screwing up the registry ? Any fix ?
(please note - tired of running regedit to get rid of all the junk the installer can't do or fix)
G5 dp 2 ghz, G4s & iMacs + Windows XP Pro

what's the precise text of the key that the error message is mentioning? (there's a couple of different sets of issues that can hit folks specific to two different sets of keys.)

Halfway thru the download process (1780 songs) from itunes to my ipod I get a windows error msg:
"Can not write to file G: Joe's ipod. All the data has been lost. Check for an error on your computer or network."

"Windows/ My computer" shows my ipod as drive G: and itunes starts up properly when I plug my ipod into my firewire port. About halfway thru the download (1780 songs) the transfer from itunes to my ipod stops and I get the above error message. (Never worked with USB). I am not on a network.
According to tech supt, I have:
-Installed Service Pack 2,
-Restored ipod to factory settings
-Installed update 5.0.1. Everything worked fine last Feb with the version 4 of itunes when I first loaded everything up.
Have tried to reinstall version 4, but no luck.
My ipod charges fine thru the firewire cable.
Any ideas?? Thanx anyone.

If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that isn't fully working. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.

Urgent:Can not write mails in inmumm mail service

This is quite urgent.
I have my office mail in inmumm13.tcs.com(An IBM mail service Lotus Domino web access,its a webmail).
I can see the mail contents.
But when I go to "Reply" or "Reply to All" I can not see anything and hence can not write anything in the mail body.
Can someone help me on this urgently.

2. If I migrate the universe to a UAT or PROD environment often I encounter, the connection can not be registered error

If you have three DB servers (Dev,Test,Prod ) and three bo servers (Dev,Test,Prod ) you need to create three different connections in Dev.
IN THE DEV SERVER
1. Create connection (Dev Connection) in the Dev DB to connectDev DB to BO Dev and then develop the universe.
2. Create another connection (Test Connection) in the Dev DB to connect Test DB to Test BO Dev
3. Create another connection (Prod Connection) in the Dev DB to connect Prod DB to Prod BO Dev
Then while promoting to Test environment, you need to send universe along with connection, but in the connection you need to change the Dev DB connection to Test DB connection ((Test Connection) (Select the connection -> Click on change connection)
Then while promoting to Prod environment, you need to send universe along with connection, but in the connection you need to change to Prod DB connection (Prod Connection)
And once the universe and connection are promoted successfully come back to Dev and change the connection to Dev DB (Dev Connection)

Are you sure that the tomcat process is run by the right user that actually has permission to write the file?
The file's permissions might be '664' to you, but maybe the tomcat process's user is not in the correct group.

I was going to suggest - Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings, but if you are restoring to factory settings, that should restore the settings back to factory defaults. But if you are restoring from a backup, after restoring to factory settings, try resetting all of the settings and see if that fixes it.
It might be something in your backup.
