Installer could not locate the data it needed... Entourage 2008

Hi, I'm a bit of newbie to Mac's... I am trying to work out why a copy of Entourage 2008 I have wont install... I have posted on the Mactopia forums but with no success, so I thought I would try here, as I am not sure if it is an Entourage/Microsoft issue or a Mac OS issue. Every time I try to install my downloaded e2008.iso (came with my Exchange server rental) I get the following error: "Install Failed. The installer could not locate the data it needed to install the software. Check your install media or internet connection and try again or contact the software manufacturer for assistance". I am assured that the download I have is complete and 'verified'. When I double click the .iso file, it mounts and then opens - i then click through 'Office Installer_mpkg / contents / distribution.dist to begin the install. If anyone has any advice on what I might be doing wrong I would appreciate it! Thanks.

Thanks - it is reputable (should be...) as it is from the company i get my exchange server rental through, part of the 'package' is a download of entourage or outlook. Unfortunately they do not offer very good mac support... Have gone back to them to make it their problem! thanks all the same.

  • Need Help! "Could not locate the resource file in the Configuration folder."

I had just purchased and installed Adobe Crerative Design Suite last night. Every program works except Dreamweaver, which gives me the error message:"Could not locate the resource file in the Configuration folder. This File is required to run Dreamweaver. Please reinstall the application". I am suspicious because the was a previous version of Dreamweaver on the computer before this installation, but I unistalled it. I do not understand why I get this message. Is there a file somewhere that is missing or at faut. How can I remedy this? Thanks
    ~Todd

    Nadia,
    Your posted resources worked for me. Thank you! After many attempts (to include Adobe's overseas call canter) to resolve the same installation and run errors, I used your suggested steps and I finally have a clean and running install. I did have to take a few extra steps;
First I downloaded both Cleaning  scripts. For CS4 & CS3.
Next I downloaded Windows installer/cleaner. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and that is a required installed program to run Adobe's cleaning script.
Once I was sure I had all the programs/scripts I needed (per your instructions and the instructions found on the Cleaning scripts site) I disconnected my computer from the Internet.
Then I disabled all running programs especially all Anti-virus and firewall programs and any others that have calls of any kind: i.e. Boinc (Seti), Skype, email programs (Windows Live Mail), etc.
Next I uninstalled all CS4 products and even though I was told that Macromedia Studio MX 2004 can stay installed (read that on one site and the overseas Tech also reinforced that information) I uninstalled MX 2004.
I then rebooted and installed the Windows installer/cleaner program and ran the Adobe CS4 cleaner script twice.
After another reboot I installed Dreamweaver CS4 first, rebooted (can't reboot enough with Windows!) and, yes you guessed it, rebooted.
I then attempted to open Dreamweaver CS4 and for the first time it ran without the error!
I then installed Adobe Ps CS4 and rebooted and that work for the first time as well.
I can't say for sure if Macromedia Studio MX 2004 caused the install errors on the Adobe products but without it and ALL that uninstalling and rebooting and running cleaning scripts and installing and rebooting, Adobe finally felt my computer was clean enough to call it home and work.
Thank you again for your information and I suggest if anyone else finds their way here that they follow your instructions to the letter. Takes a long time but a proper and clean install will be the result.

  • I am upgrading from Tiger to SL in a MCBPro with 2 gb ram and an intel chip and I get the following notice:  Installation failed.... THE INSTALLER COULD NOT COPY THE NCESSARY SUPPORT FILES. Any help is apprciated

I am upgrading from Tiger to SL in a MCBPro with 2 gb ram and an intel chip and I get the following notice:  Installation failed.... THE INSTALLER COULD NOT COPY THE NCESSARY SUPPORT FILES. Any help is appreciated...

Yes.   I've found that works best.  Especially if the drive is external, since external connections are typically slower, and Spotlight loves to eat up space going back and forth.   Time Machine will eat up as much space as it can, and typically needs drives at least twice the size of the original hard drive that is being backed up, if being backed up in full.   So unfortunately there is a lot of empty space that is needed for smooth operation.

  • Could not locate the service

hi - I am hoping that someone can help with this.
I have a new server (2008R2SP1) and Installed SQL 2008R2 SP3 Database and Management tools only.
All looks like it has installed correctly, however when I try to stop the SQL service from the SQL Server Management Studio I get the Error "Could not locate the Service".
I can stop the services correctly from both the Services.msc and the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
I can see that the SQL Server Management Studio uses the command
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ControlService.exe" -computer <SERVERNAME> -service MSSQLSERVER -stop
So if I run that command from an elevated Command Prompt I get the same result "Could not locate the Service".
I have tried reinstalling but to no avail.
does anyone have experience with this issue?
    Many thanks,
    Alan
    Regards, Alan

    Hi,
There is no need to start SQL Server service from SSMS. Please do it as you are doing from SQL server configuration manager.
Are you logged into physical machine or taking remote of SQL Server make sure
    1. You log into machine on which SQL Server is installed  as admin
    2. Right click on SSMS and select run as administrator and then try restarting.

  • "Could not locate the bean with the ejb-name XYZ in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml

    Hi,
Please someone help me on this...
I'm trying to deploy an application on WLS 8.1 SP4
on HPUX IA64 arch. From the ear file WLS is able to
deploy 3 jars but for the last two jars it's throwing
    the below error:
Could not locate the bean with the ejb-name xyz in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
But ejb with name xyz is defined in the the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file and it's also present in the
    META-INF/ejb-jar.xml file.
I have no clue what's going wrong.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mouli

oops! Pls ignore my previous mail. It was for a different problem.
FOr the original problem of "couldn ot locate the bean with the ejb-name XZY in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml":
This happens if you don't have the below files defined
    for a JAR/EAR file:
weblogic-ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml (needed if you have any Datasource mapped)
These two are basic files required for any JAR/EAR file.
If you dont' have it already you can generate them using
    $WLS_HOME/bin/startWLBuilder.sh GUI tool bundled along
with WLS (I used 8.1 SP4) to generate these files ! This tool is really helpful.

  • "Could not locate the Resources file in the Configuration folder"

While opening DW cs5 on my iMac OS X 10.7.5 a window came up that says:  "Could not locate the Resources file in the Configuration folder. This file is required to run Dreamweaver. Please reinstall the application."
After downloading and reinstalling Adobe Creative Suite CS5 yesterday per the instruction of Adobe tech support, the application still had the same message when I attempt to open it.  Not sure where else to turn.  Please advise.  Thanks

  • Installer could not validate the contents of the "BaseSystem"

Reference the quite volumnious "Installer could not validate the contents of the 'BaseSystem'".
Given the dual-layer DVD inserted in a single-layer SuperDrive fact, I tried installing just the Base System with nothing else and got the same error. On the surface, this may indicate that even the BaseSystem is spread out between both layers.
Has anyone tried making a DVD/CD Master sparse image, cloning it to a spare partition, restarting the Mac from this partition and installing Leopard on another partition or other drive? I got this idea from the indispensable "Macfixit.com" web site.
Would that totally eliminate trying to install an OS from a double-layer DVD in a single-layer Drive?
So I am trying to determine if anyone has been successful using this image approach.

If the drive couldn't read DL DVDs, DVD Player would have trouble with most movies. There may be some burned DL DVDs that won't work in some drives, but factory pressed DL disks, such as Leopard, (if not defective) should be readable in any DVD drive. There may be defective discs, or defective drives, but a DL drive is not a requirement. The DL for a DVD drive only applies to its burning capability, not its reading capability.

  • "The installer could not copy the necessary support files." Error message on 0S X 10.6.3 Install

I have just wiped my iMac 21.5' Core i3 3.2GHz as I am going to sell it. This process went as expected but when I try to reinstall the OS from the disk that originally came with the system (10.6.3) it gets around 30% into the install and then produces the error message "The installer could not copy the necessary support files." No matter what I try the outcome is the same and the installation fails.
I did have the hard drive replaced on this iMac a couple of years ago as it was of a batch that apple said could go pop one day. Do the hard drive and the OS X disk that comes with the system have to match, or is it just a case of a faulty disc? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • PC Sync could not update the data to the mobile ph...

Ok now I am a little annoyed with my Nokia 6680.
For the last four months it has been working fine but all of a sudden it has stopped synching with either of my PC's.
The phone connects ok and I can do file transfers etc however when I try to sync it fails with the message
    "The Synchronisation has been Terminated!"
    and
"PC Sync could not update the data to the mobile phone."
I updated PC Sync to latest version on both PC's and I have tried cable and bluetooth connections but get the same issue.
In the end I bit the bullet and re-initialised the phone and it began working again.... for three days and then its doing the same thing again. It still connects ok but no sync.
My Laptop is using WinXP SP2 and my home PC is on WinXP SP1.
Anyone able to help with this please, my phone is effectively now a paper weight and I will go back to Pocket PC phones again.

Thanks for the tip I had the SAME problem on the 6822 same error. The phone had been fine for a month or so. Then nothing would synch, thought it was the PC fixed / reinstalled the software changes options nothing would work same error.
Read your note, powered down the phone and Bingo all synched fine!
Thanks very much. I'm using a Nokia 6822

  • The \System Root\System32\drivers\NatMotion.sys device could not locate the entry point IoSetDeviceInterfaceState in driver ntoskernal.exe

After installing version 5.1.1 of the Flexmotion driver, and installing f5 update, I got the following message after rebooting the system: The \System Root\System32\drivers\NatMotion.sys device could not locate the entry point IoSetDeviceInterfaceState in driver ntoskernal.exe. OS is Win NT. I see device in MAX , but can not initialise it, and cannot make firmware update.
I do not se device from NT system menager.

The instructions on the f5 update are not 100% explicit about what to do for NT. The NatMotion.sys file should not be replaced on NT systems, only on the specifically listed OSes. Uninstall and reinstall the 5.1.1 driver along with the f5 update, however only install the components that do not specifically mention a particular OS.

  • The system could not locate the EDI partner agreements

    Hello all,
I am trying to setup the DESADV message in SAP, but I am having some problems.
    1. I've created the LAVA output relationship via VV21 with that customer
    2. I've created the relationship in WE20
2.1 Under the KU partner type, I've created the outbound parameters: SP -DESADV and SP -SHPMNT
2.2 In MESSAGE CONTROL option, I've added Application V2, Message type LAVA and Process code SD05 or SD11 depending on the message
But, when I try to add the LAVA message to the outbound's delivery header, I get an error message that says:
"The system could not locate the EDI partner agreements (outbound) for
    partner 2.
You cannot use transmission medium 'EDI' with this partner."
Any help with this issue? thank you

    Hi,
Just have few checks at your end as below:
    1. go to WE20
    2. select you customer
    3. select outbound parameters
    4. click on details {blue lens below}
    5. in outbound options tab -- have you maintained the receiving port ? also in basic type - have you maintained the mesage type?
    6. in message control tab - have you maintained appropriate entries ?
    7. finally very much important check > hope you have not activated the TEST check box in the initial partner profile>outbound parameters>partner functions field...

  • Install Failed. Installer could not copy the necessary support files

I replaced the hard drive in my MacBook 13ac OS X" late 2009. I am trying to reinstall th OS and applications from th CDs that came with the computer. When I start the computer and try to install the OS, it starts to install, after about 2-3 minutes I get the following message. Install Failed. Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer. The Installer could not copy the necessary support files. Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again. I have done this several times with no luck. Is the CD missing something? Is there another way to do this?

    Disconnect any attached hard drives.
Boot off the disk and try running Disk Utility Repair Disk and Repair Permissions. If that is successful, try to re-install. If that doesn't work boot off the disk and use Disk Utility to erase and reformat the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

  • The installer could not validate the contents of the 'BaseSystem' package

    Hello all,
Sorry for my first post being a problem, but I am not the worlds greatest Mac person and I have been asked to support our Macs here at work.
I have had a hard drive go in a MacBook, and I have fitted a new 160Gb hard drive (upgrading from the original 80Gb one) and I am getting the above error.
I tried installing Leopard 10.5.4 from its original CD (we bought a full version when we upgraded this Macbook previously) and got the above error.
SO I thought I would have to install the original version of Tiger and upgrade from there, in the same way that I did before. I reinstalled Tiger no problems from the disks which came with the MacBook, and then tried to do the upgrade, but got the same error.
Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem do you think ?
The MacBook has been upgraded form this particular disk once before, and no changes to the MacBook have been made apart from replacing the defunct hard drive.
Thanks in advance, and I apologise if I have missed out any important needed information because as I say I am fairly new to Macs.

I have your solution! I just experienced the same problem after installing a new hard drive to replace a crashed drive in an iMac (Ambient Light Sensor) model.
I initially thought it was the optical drive and/or the Leopard DVD. I tried two Leopard DVD's and both the internal slot-load and an external FireWire drive. All resulted in the same error at the calculation stage of the install...could not verify basesystem. All hard drive tests passed.
I used the Apple Hardware Test (your original OS DVD) and what did I discover? A failed memory DIMM! Even though the Mac would boot from an external, I thought everything was OK. The failed memory DIMM is the culprit!
Here is why: The Mac OS X installer copies data to memory, then copies to the hard drive. When the copied data encountered the failed memory DIMM, the Installer kicks back the failure that it could not validate the basesystem. The data in the memory becomes corrupt because the DIMM is corrupt.
I replaced both DIMMS in my iMac (an upgrade from 1 GB to 2 GB) and sure enough, the installer is running smoothly without any problems.
So replace your memory and your problem is solved. Or figure out which DIMM went bad and replace it.
