Installer for Labview 8.5

Hi Labview experts..
I have tried to make an installer for use in a computer without labview..
It includes DSC Historical trend with reference to a database..
In the dialog box for  “additional installer” I use “Enhanced DSC Employment support” and
And “Labview Run-Time Engine”
I have this error when I try to run it on a computer that don’t have Labview installed..

  • Installer for my application requires LabVIEW 8.2 to be installed

I am trying to build an installer for my application, and I can use the installer successfully on any system where LabVIEW is already installed.  However, when I use it on a fresh system, I get a message that says "You must install LabVIEW 8.2 or later on the system before you can run this setup."
I am including the LabVIEW run time engine in the installer.  Is there anything else that I am leaving out when I build the installer?  Is the installer supposed to work on a fresh system that does not already have the run time engine installed?

  • Executable not working - Looking for LabVIEW Run-Time Engine

This has been one of those days.
I'm trying to create my .exe file to place onto another computer. I've done this before with success. But that was then and this is now.
I believe I have all the files I need in my LLB, and I believe I did my application distribution correctly and I believe I built the DLL correctly. But when I took the resulting .exe file and placed it on another computer and attempted to run it, it gave me the error message: "Unable to locate LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Program requires a version 7.1 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time engine. You should have already realized this, you moron."
Anyone have any idea where I went wrong or what step I might have missed? This has been a crazy, non-stop, massive brain fart of a day and I can't seem to remember what I'm missing here.
Amateur programmer for over 10 years!

    Hi.
Whenever you want to use executables or .dll's created with LabVIEW you must make sure that the LabVIEW runtime engine of the SAME version as the LabVIEW version used to create the files, is installed in the target computer.
There are basically 2 ways to get the run-time engine installed on a computer:
    1. (the one I prefer): Download the correct version of the LabVIEW run-time engine installer from www.ni.com/downloads, or more specifically from
    http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/369618104E25B08E86256F54006A4E2F?opendocument&node=132050_US
for the latest one. Once you have the installer for the run-time engine, just install it in the target computer. I prefer this option because the run-time engine is installed independently, so if you then uninstall your program, the run-time engine remains.
    2. Create an installer for your program that includes the run-time engine. To include the run-time engine, when you are creating your application, go to the "installer settings" tab, click on "Advanced" and make sure there is a checkmark on "include LabVIEW run-time engine". This way when you install your program in the target computer, the run-time engine will also be installed.
Just as a note, any computer with LabVIEW on it, will also have the run-time engine.
    Good luck.

  • Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?

Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?  I have created an executable application that I want to distribute to Mac and Linux users (different applications were created in the respective OS).  I was wondering if there is any way to create an installer?  I think there probably isn't...  If the user were to simply download the Labview Run-time Engine from ni.com would they be able to run the application or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks so much for your time.

I think Shane tried to say, that it is on the Mac OS X installation DVD, NOT the LabVIEW for Mac OS X installation medium. And that could very well have changed in recent Mac OS X versions as well. They used to have Xcode on it too, but that seems gone as well.

  • Error while creating installer in Labview 8.2

    Hi,
I am trying to build an installer for my application. I have included NI-VISA runtime 4.1, NI-488.2 2.5 and Labview 8.2.1 runtime engine as additional installers in the build specification. I am using the NI's GPIB-USB-HS in the application and hence have included NI-VISA and NI-488.2 in the installer. When I try to build the installer, it gives me the following error :

When I try to build the installer without including the NI-488.2 2.5, the build is successful. Can someone please let me know what are the files to be included for NI's GPIB-USB-HS hardware in the installer?.
    Thanks in advance

Building an application with additional installers need the original DVD/CD where the product was installed from. You can set a checkbox to cache the product to your harddisk to avoid the use of the DVD/CD again. Maybe you have a problem with the cache.
You can just delete the cache by deleting the folders in C:\Programme\National Instruments\shared\ProductCache. Each folder is named with the version of the product so you can see if the product is part of the cache.
Another possibility is that something went wrong during installation of NI-488.2 dirver. Uninstall that driver, reboot the machine and install it again.

  • How can I create an installer for my project that can work on 32-bit Windows if I have 64-bit Windows Vista?

    Hi,
I made a LabVIEW project that works perfectly and made an installer for it. I tested the installer on my own computer and everything worked well. The goal for my installer was to put it on multiple computers. So I tried to do this on another computer that has Vista 32-bit and it told me that the installer can only run on 64-bit computers. I tried to choose to install run-time 32bit and it did not change anything, there was still a message to tell me that this installer only can be ran on 64-bit computers. How can I make an installer that works on 32-bit computers?
    Thank you.

  • Create installer without labview

    Hi,
Is it possible to create an installer without LabVIEW? I am supporting Windows 2000 through 7 and the versions of NI software varies with each OS, specifically when dealing with oscilloscopes running Windows due to VISA conflicts.
The two main problems I have with creating installers with LabVIEW (Application Builder):
    1) Windows 2000 requires the Product Framework before 2.8.0. This makes it impossible for installers to run on Windows 2000 that require product installation newer than 2.8.0 which is basically every installation for Windows 7.
    2) As far as I am aware, the required software has to be installed on a local machine first before creating an installer. Then you navigate to the Additional Installers section when creating an installer to add to the installation. The location path will point to the orignal CD drive or location it was installed from on the local drive. I don't see why this required. Why can the installer be created directly from the extracted files without it being installed on machine?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Wow guys, thanks for two blatent insults. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all.
    A little further explaination:
Supporting and maintaining Windows 2000 in 2014, I agree, is cumbersome. However, you have to realize these oscilloscopes that run Windows 2000 in 2014 still cost upwards of $8,000 to replace and the operating system cannot be upgraded. Why do they still cost so much? Because they are very useful tools. And new ones cost $20,000 to $30,000. I don't think that this effort is "los[ing] [the company's] ability to make a profit".
For those of you that are interested in the orignal question posted here is my solution.
I used SFX Builder (http://sourceforge.net/projects/s-zipsfxbuilder/) to bundle NI's software into a single executeable file. Heres the steps:
    1) Download all necessary NI software
    2) Download SFX Builder
    3) Download 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)
    1) Extract all NI software into a single folder and use 7-zip to compress into a .7z archive
    2) Open SFX Builder and add the .7z archive to the File tab
    3) You can easily set the path of extraction to anywhere on the computer, the temp (%temp%) is the most useful
    4) On the Tasks tab click the add/plus button and select Run Program, then enter the path where the extraction happened, here is an example
    5) Easy peasy!

  • Creating Runtime Installer for VI with VISA Read VI

    Greetings Fellow Users,
Please let me know which 'ADDITIONAL INSTALLERS' the  LabView RunTime engine requires in order to run a VI that reads from the built-in serial port (COM 1) of a Windows XP PC.  For instance, I include LabView Run-Time engine 8.0.1 to creat an installer for the VI.  If I want to load and run this .exe on a PC that has no other NI software, do I need to include any of the following as 'ADDITIONAL INSTALLERS':
    ->NI-SERIAL 1.8?
    ->NI-VISA RUNTIME 3.4?
    ->NI-DAQmx 8.0?
What does the NI-VISA RUNTIME do anyways?  Also, when I do include some of these, I have to dig out my LanVIEW installations CDs and they are loaded from teh D:\.  What is the cleanest way to load these onto my HDD so that LabView will select these automatically.
    Thank you.

    ->NI-SERIAL 1.8?
This is the driver used for serial port controller boards and
interfaces from NI. You do not need that software when trying to access
built in serial ports or ports on interface cards from other
    manufactureres than NI.
    ->NI-VISA RUNTIME 3.4?
This is the software LabVIEW uses to talk to all kinds of IO interfaces
including serial ports. This is what you will need. Runtime means it is
a stripped down version without LabVIEW, C, VB, Delphi and whatever
    development bindings and examples etc.
    ->NI-DAQmx 8.0?
This is the software driver for NI data acquisition devices (analog IO, digital IO, counter , timers).
These are all to be considered drivers and (very maybe apart from
NI-VISA) it is usually not a very good idea to include drivers into the
application installer. If you use them your user is likely to have
bought his own kind of hardware and no matter if he happens to have
bougt the newest SuperPCI interface board with 256 ultra-high-speed
serial ports over wireless connections or an old standard PCI board
with 2 RS-232 interfaces they both will have come with a CD that is
appropriate for that device, whereas the NI-Serial driver you included
is only appropriate for NI serial boards that are still AND already
sold at the moment when that driver was released. The same applies for
    any other driver software.
NI_VISA being able to connect to standard built-in serial ports could
be considered different but it isn't really. I have included NI-VISA on
application installers in the past only to find out that the included
NI-VISA version did not run or not run reliably on newer machines with
new OS versions, so we had to point the customer to the NI site to
download the newest version anyhow, or even burn a new CD with updated
NI-VISA versions and express ship it.
Basically including any kind of driver software in the application
installer may seem like a good idea but will usually cause lots of
additional support after some time due to incompatibilities with newer
    OS versions, new hardware, etc.

  • Make the installer for my executable run the DAqcarddriver and runtime engine installer automatically

    *Hi
I would like to know how to make the installer for my executable run the DAqcarddriver and runtime engine installer automatically
I would like to include run time engine and the drivers of  my daqcard(AI16XE50),( and maybe Ni daq or anything else needed?) in order to make my application portable for other computers on OS win98 and winXP .
    How can I do that
    thank you in advance
    Olivier

    Olivier,
What version of LabVIEW are you using to build your application?  On a remote computer you should only need the drivers you are using and the Run-Time Engine.  You can attach installers to LabVIEW 8 installers, but for previous versions you will have to add it by opening the installer configuration page, configuring your installer and then configure the Advanced properties.  This will allow you to attach a EXE to the installer which you can run.  Also depending on the version of LabVIEW will affect the OS version that you will be able to install the RTE on.  LabVIEW 7.0 is the last version that can be installed on Windows 98.
Please let me know if you have any further questions and please include the version of LabVIEW you are using.  Thanks!

  • Where do I get HP8753ES drivers for Labview 8.2?

    Hello,
I am in the process of updating some Labview code to 8.2. Where do I find drivers for the HP8753ES that is compatable with Labview 8.2? I looked at the NI website and the drivers listed are for Labview 8.0, will they work with Labview 8.2? There are also "project style" of drivers, is there a difference?

    Regards,
    Kaspar

I don't know why you think you 'have' to use the plug&play driver instead of the project style but there is no subVI called HP8753 Collect Data and none of the VIs in the driver call a function called HP8753 Collect Data. There is a subVI called HP8753 Collect and Display Data. What exactly are you doing that you cannot find a subVI? Do you have the driver functions on your palette? Where exactly did you place the unzipped folder. If you have done the installation correctly, you will have a palette just like the one below and there is no need to search for anything. They will just be there.

I deleted the registry stuff to.
I had to keep labview 8.0 because it is the version i want to use plus i don't have the CD to install it, so i kept it and it's support files.

    Hi Rambo,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.  From the information you have provided here, its sounds like a couple of different things can be causing this issue.  In looking at some previous instances where this error code was reported when using the application builder, it would be worthwhile to look at the file name field and the location the VIs are saved.
Take a look at the field where the file name is provided and ensure only the name is in this location.  By this I mean that the file path and name aren't both concatenated and entered here.
Also, if the VIs are saved in the user library or the vi library see if it makes any difference if they are moved to another directory.
I hope this helps!  If not, any other possible information that you have or may come upon would definitely be helpful.  Have a great day!
