Installer Log File

when i installed office, it seemed that an installer log file was created on the HD. i dragged it somewhere else, but later when i installed other programs (keyserver, acrobat, etc) other installer log files were again created on the HD. I got tried of dragging all these away, so i combined the files together and put them back onto HD. but why is the text file automatically changed into a unix executable file now? is it alright? and will other installer log files just add onto it later?

You can delete them or put them into either  /username/Library/Logs/ or /Library/Logs/. They're not essential unless you have installation issues and want to provide the data to the developer whose SW you installed.

  • Installation log file error

I am attempting to reload Photoshop Elements 8 on a Dell Precision Workstation under Windows 7 64-bit Professional on a new hard drive.  Immediately after I confirm English as the language, the following error pops up:
Error opening installation log file.  Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable.
I have attempted installation from the DVD and from a location on the hard drive, with the same result.
If I knew the location the installer is trying to use for the log file I could verify the existence and properties of that location.
    Please help.

  • WebLogic Installation Log File

Where is the installation log file after WebLogic installation?
I am installing WebLogic6.1. Can I specify where the installation log file should
    go? Where is it anyway?
I searched few directories do not see where it placed the installation lo file.

No, not as I know of. If you are experiencing some problems and you really want to
find more information about a problematic installation, you may do the following to
generate the debug output and you can send that debug info to me:
Windows: pressing down control key at the beginning of the installation until a
    debug console window pops up.
Unix Installer ( .bin files): set LAXDEBUG=true in your environment before starting
your installation. tee or script the output to a file:
    export LAXDEBUG=true
    sh weblogic610.bin -i console 2>&1 | tee buildlog
    Pure java installer (.zip file):
    touch ia_debug
    $JAVA_HOME/java -cp weblogic610.zip -i console 2>&1 | tee buildlog
The upgrade installer should have a clear log to tell you what went wrong in a
installation or uninstallation process. And the installation/uninstallation process
would be rolled back if anything went wrong. The exception is that if you manually
stoped it in some way, which way may catch and process later.

Every software has an installation log. Is that not pretty much standard?
How come weblogic does not have log? If something goes wrong during silent

Are you sure that there is absolutely no log file for a full installation?

The log file for an servicepack upgrade installation lives under $BEA_HOME/logs.
Look into the directory corresponding to that servicepack.
Are you experiencing any problems with the full installer?

  • Software installer log files

Does the Mac keep or create a viewable log of all files that are created (and where) when installing new software? Thanks.

If you install software from the App Store, then it is pretty easy to track down. Everything is inside the application's bundle in /Applications.
If you hav 3rd party installers, they can use different methods to install files so there is not way to know for certain what they are doing. I recommend Suspicious Package to check before installing. It doesn't work with all installers but maybe 80%.

Where can I find Installer and uninstaller log files in JSE 6?

For the installer log file, search for Sun_Java_Studio_Enterprise_6_2004Q1_install, or some portion of that.
To find Java ES component product log files, search on Sun_ONE.
You can also search for the timestamp that is part of each log file name. It is of the format MMddhhmm (Month/day/hour/minute)
Refer also to the Troubleshooting chapter of the Installation Guide for additional details on reports and log files used by Java SE

  • Can't create repository - zero byte log file?

    Hello all,
I'm getting the 'CDR-21244 : This process has been aborted' message when creating the repository in a 10g database using Designer 10g ( 9.0.4.5). I get identical results with Designer 9i (9.0.2.7). I've checked the installation log file, according to the documentation, and it contains zero bytes. The IMP.EXE window doesn't say anything unusual, it simply reports a couple of possible character conversions and then terminates before doing anything.
None of the suggested solutions to this error from the Repository Installation Guide seem to apply to me:
    * I have all the proper permissions and settings according to the 'check requirements' dialog
    * I don't have anything in my log file
    * The IMP.EXE utility is installed
    * TNSNAMES.ORA seems fine since I can connect to this database using TOAD
    Has anyone else seen this?
I'm using Windows XP, by the way.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Can you please give us the following information :
    1. Both Designer 9.0.4.5 and 10g Database are installed in same machine or different machines.
    2. Version of Export/Import utilities used by Designer
    3. Value in the registry variable 'REPOS61'
Steps to get the registry value
    a. Invoke and connect to 'Repository Administration Utility'.
    b. Invoke 'Check Requirements' utility.
    c. Expand 'Parameter Settings' node and '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\REPOS61\]' node.
    d. Note the values for 'EXECUTE_EXPORT', 'EXECUTE_IMPORT', 'EXECUTE_PLUS_RAU' variables.
    4. Version of Database.
    Regards,
    Wilson.

  • Install cannot launch due to previous 'install log file'

Ive recently purchased CS6  Design standard, after I had some problems with my CS 5 suite.
Now when I try and instill it, as the install sequence launches it says that  'Installer failed to initialise'. I've used the Adobe Spport Advisor and it says the problem is "The following error appears in your Adobe Creative Suite 5 or CS5.5 product installer log file:  Error committing command ARKCAPSWritePayloadDataCommand"
and the solution it gives is "This error occurs if you reinstall Photoshop CS4 when both Photoshop CS5 or CS5.5 and Photoshop CS4 are already installed on your system. To successfully reinstall Photoshop CS4, first remove Photoshop CS4, and then reinstall it."
I have not tried to reinstall anything, I simply uninstalled CS5 and am now trying to install CS6. Any feed back as to how I can fix this problem is greatly appreciated

Bladin I would recommend looking at your installation log files.  If the installation is failing during the initializing phase then you will want to review the PDApp.log file.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.
Also you mentioned getting a DW063 error.  Please see Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html for information on how to adjust the file permissions for the compromised directories.
