Installer not installing!

I have recently acquired a new HP machine, stock from the good people at staples. I have tried to install reader on this machine many times and failed miserably. I download the installer, run it. The progress bar fills to completion, and then.. nothing. Reader just isn't on my computer afterwards and I still can't open PDFs.
I have tried running Adobe Air, tried making sure all the various pluggins are running on firefox, tried downloading through internet explorer. I have run the installer probably a good dozen times by now, from different downloads, at different times. Nothing seems to actually put Reader on my computer.
Any ideas?

That is indeed the installer I have been trying to run. (When I downloaded it again from your link it replaced the one I currently had.) As you can see the process runs to 100% and then simply disapears. I have noticed that it seems to be trying to run an update, and without any software to update that might have something to do with the issue. That said, I thought all these times I was actually downloading an installer not a mere update, but this is all I've been able to accomplish thusfar. After completion, I try opening a pdf file. No avail.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Windows Installer not installed properly, then boots to safe mode w/no backlight?

I have only used my laptop for about 2 weeks.
I tried to download an Adobe Reader update, and I got a message that said "Windows Installer was not installed correctly."
I retarted my computer, but it would only boot in safe mode.
I tried a System Restore, but I got a message that said "System Restore doesn't appear to be functioning properly."
I tried to do a virus scan (just in case), but my computer will not connect to the internet, so that's not working, either.
I tried to restart once more, but as soon as I went to put my password in, the backlight on the laptop would shut off, and then it would only boot in safe mode.
I put the laptop away for a little while because my life got very busy and I didn't have the time to deal with it. Today, when I turned the laptop on to try and troubleshoot, it booted normally, and successfully- no safe mode, backlight still on- and then it told me that System Restore had worked.
What gives?
Anyone have any ideas what happened / what I did to make this happen / how I can avoid it in the future / if the computer is actually going to function properly or if it needs to be sent back?

When you restore the system earlier to back date it did not get complete and also Windows 7 has startup repair option which fixes the common startup bugs.

NI-RIO 4.0 as additional installer not installed

I've converted my LabView project from 8.6.1 to 2011 SP1. The output of the project is an installer which includes additional installers like NI-RIO 4.0. This is to avoid installing these driver manually on the test PC. The test PC has a R-Series FPGA card. Only when I install the generated installer on the test PC the NI-RIO driver is not installed. Anything else seems to work fine (after manually installing this driver). Does anyone has an idea what can be wrong?

Can you share an example project that shows how you configured the installer?
Side-questions:
In which order did you install everything?
Was your PCI-card already in the pc before you installed the application and driver?
Did you install only the RIO driver or also the support for the different platforms?
Do you see the card in the Device Manager?
Did you perform a reboot after installation of the installer?

Installer not installing older versions

I have several versions of a utility built with Lab Windows CVI (NOT LabView) and I want to allow the users to install older versions when ever they want.
They can't!!!!!!!
I have older already release versions that I want users to install, when do I need to change to make an older version install over a newer version?????? Is it something in setup.ini?
This has become critical on one computer where the Add/Remove Programs no longer lists this utility. I cannot uninstall the newer version so that I can install the older version. Any ideas what to do about this?
I can't even install the same version, so I had to build a new version (I consider it a fake version, because it is only to uninstall the latest version). I installed this fake version, and I was then able to remove the "latest" version and install the older version.
So, I have 3 questions:
1) How can I change my builds to allow any version to be installed on top of any other version?
2) How can I fix or uninstall a version that is not in the Add/Remove Programs?
3) How can I change the installer of already built and released version (some ini file or something) to allow it to install on newer versions?

I'm curious as to what's happening that won't let your users use an older version of the program--do they see an error message of some kind? Generally, as long as the CVI Runtime Engine on the target machine is the same version or newer than the engine the executable was targeted for, it will work. Starting in CVI 2012, you can force an executable to use a specific version of the Runtime Engine, and install multiple versions of the RTE on the same machine, as seen in this CVI help file: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370051V-01/cvi/usermanual/sidebysideoverview/
So, to answer your questions:
1. Changing builds to allow any version to be installed: You should only need to have the newest version of the CVI Runtime installed on the user's machine. So if the user has at some point installed the newer version of the utility, they will have that RTE version. You could also rebuild your older versions to include the newest version of the Runtime Engine. The Runtime Engine is backwards-compatible with executables that were built to target older versions of the RTE.
2. How can I fix or uninstall a version that is not in Add/Remove Programs: It's unusual for the distribution to not make an entry in Add/Remove Programs. What version of CVI did you create these distributions with, and do the applications appear in the Start menu? You might check the application directory (Most likely C:\Program FIles\<Your Application>, and see if an uninstaller exists there. For older versions of CVI, we included an uninstall utility in the program directory. There should be no problem with having multiple versions of your program installed, though.
3. How can I change the installer to install on newer versions: Once a distribution kit has been made, it's not possible to change which version of the Runtime Engine is included with that distribution. If you have access to the source files, you can of course create a new distribution which includes that RTE.

Itunes Package Installer not Installing Apple Mobile Device Support

Okay, so I have unistalled iTunes, removed everything on my computer that apple told me to, then reinstalled iTunes. But I still get the same message when i plug in my iTouch, "This ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed." Then it tells me to uninstall and then reinstall itunes; well i have done that literally over 10 times. All to the same result: no mobile device support. I called the 1-800 number for apple and was on the phone for over 2 hours and to find out they couldn't help right at that time because they had to investigate because they could not figure out why iTunes wasn't installing right. Believe me I've done everything possible. And on top of all this, my iTouch is being read as a digital camera. Oh and when i ran a diagnostic on iTunes, this is what it told me.

Air Installer not installing -

Hello,
Specs: Intel celeron cpu 900 /Windows 7 x64 Home Premium sp1
Trying to install the "Air Installer" but it doesn't complete, error message says
I need to contact admin. I am the admin and the only user.
On another install attempt the error message said files can be corrupt.
Hope someone can make sense of this mess, I so appreciate it!

Sorry for missing that info in your initial post. I'm not sure what happened there. I took a look at the MSI logs and you've got something strange going on. In particular, I believe the failure might be:
MSI (s) (F8:A8) [12:42:24:284]: Product: Adobe AIR -- Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\90A2D107EB418F542933C10EDE00329A\44C2AF74841DCBD4FA069B9143AA8424. System error 5. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
On my system, this key is at:

I'm not sure why MSI is substituting "UNKNOWN" for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\"
Do you have this key present on your system? If you right click and select Permissions, do you see proper read/write settings available? Finally, do you run into this same error if you create a new, temporary, administrator account and attempt to install there?

Windows installer not installed?

hi a message comes out when i try to delete iTunes 6 and try to install itunes 7.02 or whatever so it says like windows installer can not be found pls contact suppot for assistance or you could be running in safe mode. SOMEBODY PLS HELP I CANNOT DOWNLOAD SONGS TO MY IPOD WITHOUT ITUNES 7!

I had the exact same problem and almost threw my PC out the window. I kept getting messages that my window installer could not be located and that I might be operating in safe mode. I called Apple support and was told, this was a new problem and could not help me. The only thing they did do was direct me to the Microsoft Windows website. Do this: Go to the Microsoft Windows website and type in "error 1719" at the search bar. It will come up with two fix methods. Start with the first one, if that doesn't work, do Method 2 also. This helped me and I was able to remove my old itunes version and install the 7.0 version successfully. Apple is selling products that they cannot support on a windows platform. Your best bet is to turn to your friend BILL GATES and utilize the Microsoft tools to fix your problem.

Why does the NI-Fgen ver1.01 installation not install the example programs for msvc?

The installation is successful but the entire examples directory is missing, is there anywhere on the site where I can download these examples?

If you selected Visual C++ as a programming environment during the NI-FGEN installation procedure, you should have the examples listed in c:\VXIpnp\win95\NIFGEN\examples\MSVC. If you are using Windows NT or Windows 2000, this directory will be c:\VXIpnp\winNT\NIFGEN\examples\MSVC. If the examples are not listed here, you can re-install NI-FGEN and select Microsoft Visual C++. NI-FGEN can be downloaded from the web at http://www.ni.com -> downloads -> drivers and updates -> current software versions -> NI-FGEN.

Flash Player Installer (not installing)

Could have sworn that I had and was using Flash Player before. Now no sign of it on my system. However, when I try to install (and stop Internet Explorer via task manager) I get one of two messages. The first is "Installation complete" , but this is linked to "failed to launch application". The second or alternative message is that FLash Player installed successfully. In the latter case however, it still does not work and when I then thereafter look for the program I cannot find it on my system. when browsing e.g. You Tube, I thus cannot open any video and instead get the message to install Adobe Flash PLayer. Very Frustrating. PLease help. Louis

Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller and installer directly by right clicking the following links and selecting "Save target as".

Save the files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN THEM YET.
Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove Flash Player completely.
Then run the installer to replace the Flash Player ActiveX Plugin for IE.
Then, see: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448 and: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968 to ensure it's enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX filtering.

Bootcamp windows installation not installing Windows 7

I recently installed Windows 7 on my 6months old macbook pro 17 via bootcamp 2,0.
I installed the audio from a driver which I got at realtek.com
But on my previous bootcamp partitions(WIndows XP) I just installed and then booted in windows from my Mac OS X Install DVD(windows support) and everything got installed - including the trackpad(mouse touch pad).
But when I put in the installation DVD in Win 7 I can only choose to install some kind of Macbook Air DVD and network sharing program, which Ive never seen before(I dont have an MB Air either?:S).
My two mac discs that came with my mac is the ''17-inch Macbook Pro Mac OS X Install DVD'' AND ''17-inch Macbook Pro Application Install DVD''.
How do I install the bootcamp drivers, which I need to install in order to get WINDOWS 7 to work properly in my bootcamp partition??

Go to your Apple icon in the top left hand corner and click then choose About this Mac. If the version is 10.5. 0 to 10.5.8 then it’s Leopard. If it’s 10.6.0 to 10.6.2 then it’s Snow Leopard.
What you need is Snow Leopard. If your Mac is 6 months old and you have Leopard then I think you are entitled to a free or a reduced price upgrade.

Installer not installing program

I am trying to install a program (pro tools) on my new macbook.
I click install and the installer opens up on the dock but does nothing.
I changed the security settings to allow any program to install but still nothing.

Please help.It sounds like whatever program was install never completely finished installing. Did you try to use something like CCleaner to force uninstall those older software to see what happens?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.
