Installer quits during installation

I have an update for adobe illustrator 10 that I cannot get to install. I get past the screens where I enter serial numbers for the product, click install, and the installerVISE quits immediately. It does this every time, and I cannot figure this out. I have not had this happen with any other programs that I have installed.
I have the 2.16 ghz intel i-mac.
Pleasse help!

Hi drgonzo1175,
Welcome to apple forum.
Which version that you try to upgrade to Illustrator 10?
Do you have the previous version installed?
Is that an updater or an upgrade version that you try to run?
Try to re download from here:

Good Luck.

  • 10.4.3 INSTALLER QUIT DURING DISK 2

When installing 10.4.3 from CDs from 10.3.9, the installer would quit during disk 2 and say that there was an installer error and would then start the disk 2 install from the beginning. This cycle continued for about 3-4 revolutions. Then the install successfully completed disk 2 install and prompted for disk 3, after which everything went fine and now 10.4.3 is running perfectly.
I still have to install from the CDs onto another computer and my question, did I get lucky given that it eventually installed correctly? Or is this a warning that something is wrong with the CDs and should I have them replaced before using again? When the install quit each time, I believe that it got farther than when it quit previously.
This install was on a 1Ghz e-Mac, so I don't believe that firmware was the problem as there are no firmware updates listed (is this correct?)

I believe that if you purchase a Family Pak, then you are licensed for up to 5 machines regardless of whether you have the DVD or CD set.
When you do such system upgrades it's a good idea to do the following:
    1. Repair the hard drive and permissions on the target system's startup volume.
    2. Update any third-party software for compatibility with the new system version if needed. Otherwise, disable or remove incompatible third-party software.
    3. Verify compatibility of any third-party peripherals or PCI cards. If you have incompatible hardware then upgrade it first or disconnect it.
    4. Clone your current installation to a bootable Firewire external drive. If you are running Panther or Tiger you can clone the startup volume using the Restore option of Disk Utility.
    5. Unless the installation requires that you boot from an installer CD or DVD, boot into safe mode before running the installer(s).
    6. Never install new software if the hard drive has errors that cannot be repaired. Use utilities like Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro, or Drive Genius to repair the drives, and if they fail then reformat the drive.
Follow the above religiously and you will likely encounter few if any problems with software updates or upgrades.

  • HT5085 I purchased Elf on the Shelf tv series and it quit during download 't saying I didn't have enough space?  I have 82 gigs left on my i pod classic.

I purchased Elf on the Shelf  tv series ahd it quit during download sahing I didn't have enoug space?  I have 82Gigs left on my iPod Classic

Why, if it told you you have insufficient space on your computer, would it suggest making more space available on your phone?
At a guess, you have insufficient space on your phone. Installing software will typically require more space than the final size of the software, perhaps even twice or three times as much, for the installation process. You can easily dump some videos or music temporarily, and then synch them back in afterwards.

  • Idvd quitting during encoding

I recently upgraded to Leopard and have had problems burning through idvd ever since. Idvd keeps quitting during the processing movie stage. I have tried repairing permissions and deleting the preference file with no success and have ensured I have 25 gb of free space. Any further suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated as I have run out of ideas now and getting very frustrated.

    Questions:
    Did you repair permissions yet?
are all assets for iDvd located on the startup volume (as opposed to an ext HD)?
Are you using an ext. FW / USB Hard Drive on your mac by any chance? If so eject and disconnect it and try again.

  • IDVD Quitting During/After Initial Burning

I'm am having random problems burning projects. I just successfully burned a project that had only 1 menu and 1 QT movie w/o chapters (20 minutes long) but iDVD quit immediately after. A real pain as i need to make multiple copies and now have to wait for asset encoding again.
I also have been having trouble burning other projects that have 2-3 menus, a short QT movie in the menu and a 40 minute QT movie with chapters as the main movie. These projects keep quitting during the burn and nothing is getting on the dvd.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Ok, so now i've tried quitting all other programs and rebooting before burning a dvd. iDVD is still quitting after successfully burning a project. I need to burn more than one disk though and don't want to wait for the encoding again.
Can anyone offer any advice as to how to fix this or any other options? Thanks.

  • Indesign CS6 quits during document recovery, even after restart. How do I get out of this cycle?

Indesign CS6 quits during document recovery, even after restart. How do I get out of this cycle?
I was saving a document when it originally quit. so "locked" file appeared in directory as well as reg file.
Upon restart of InDesign, recovery failed and software quit again.
Restarted computer, then indesign, file opens but as soon as I select "recover" it sends a message that indesign needs to close.
I cannot seem to get out of this cycle. Help.

Use your operating system’s Search utility to find a folder called (InDesign Recovery) and delete it.

  • InDesign 2.x Unexpectedly Quits During Startup

I've seen postings for this and similar problems going back several years. Have tried the various fixes. None seem to work.
    I've got InDesign 2.02 installed on  a Mac PowerBook G4 running Mac OS X v10.4.11. It's a small screen, 1GHz model with 768 MBytes RAM.  I usually work hooked into a 1600 x 1200 pixel monitor.
Last year I had problems with InDesign quitting when I tried to save a file being worked on. It was a pain, but I remember somehow working around the problem. Maybe exported file. Don't recall what the work around was.
I just recently tried using InDesign again. Similar to some other postings, when InDesign is started up, it quits during the splash screen statement "Executing startup services ...".
Is anyone still having this problem or know of a solution?:-(

Hmm... Maybe it's the same issue that affected CS/CS2: they started crashing after installing Acrobat 8.2 or 8.2.1.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/534/cpsid_53468.html
A while ago, the fix was to restore some stuff in the 'Application Support' folder (Acrobat was mucking something up in a shared area, and that caused InDesign CS/CS2 to crash on startup), but apparently, there is now an Acrobat 8.2.2 to fix the issue. If you have Acrobat 8.2 or 8.2.1, it could be the same issue.

  • Pre Pro 5.5 quits during Rendering/exporting

I've been working on short, 1min30 to 2min, testimonies including tracks for logo, title, matte, and the actual media. This requires keyframing changes in scale, position, 3-color correction, gobos and diffusion. The latter two coming from 3rd party Tiffen.  Got the first 4 or 5 done with no problem, but the last several have quit during rendering or, if rendered, during exporting. Data: CS 5.5, Mac 10.7.5, Source footage is HD 1440x1080, hard drive has remaining capacity of 1.65 TB, 3rd Party the aforementioned Tiffen Dfx v.3, and, sadly, no Mercury Playback Engine GPU. Can any one tell what's going on?

  • No startup after force quit during 10.5.6 installation

During installation of the 10.5.6 update I had to force quit the installation as the installation froze due to the an error message - can't remember what it was but was something to do with application memory? Was doing update from downloaded file on stick!
Now I can't start up the Mac at all - it get to the apple logo and then shuts down. Started up using Leopard disc. Tried to use disk utilities but it won't let me use disk repair. Verify - states invalid sibling link - volume check failed.
Of course I haven't backed up for about 4 months!
Any ideas what I can do?
    Thanks

    Try the following;
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If DU cannot fix the sibling link error (it may not) and you don't have Disk Warrior then you may attempt this suggestion: Fix Invalid Sibling Link.
If these all fail then you will have to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X from scratch. You may be able to recover your personal files if your computer has a Firewire port, and you have access to another Mac with a Firewire port. You can then use Target Disk Mode to try and access the drive on your computer and copy off your personal files.

    Hi I need some help
I am attempting to install Oracle 9i (version 9.0.2.0.1.0) on RedHad 7.1.The installer quits after selection is made on Installation Types window.
Below is some additional information which may help to focus in on my exact problem:
    1) When I issue the run command I receive the following in the terminal window prior the OUI slash screen:
    [oracle@GQ3016RH71 oracle]$ /opt/Disk1/runInstaller
[oracle@GQ3016RH71 oracle]$ Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2003-04-20_07-12-30AM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...

  • Win2000: Installer quits during "Executing pre-requisites..."

Hello all. I tried to install Oracle 8.1.7 on Windows 2000
Advanced Server (w/SP2) and every time the installer just quits--
no error message, nothing, the window just disappears--after
choosing the type (Typical, Minimum, Custom), about 30% through
the status bar when it says "Executing Pre-requisites...".
Since didn't have much luck with that, I went ahead and
installed Oracle on a Linux machine. Now I get the same problem
when I just try to install the Client on Windows 2000. After
choosing the type of client (Admin, Programmer, etc) it starts a
status bar, and the installer just disappears after it gets
    to "Executing Pre-requisites..."
Anyone have any idea what's going on here? This has actually
occurred on two different Win2000 machines here. The only common
factor I could see was that both of them had been upgraded to
Internet Explorer 6. So I installed an old 4.7 versino of
Netscape and tried again but had the same problem.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hello All,
I got the same problem when installed Oracle8i with Intel
Pentium 4...So I thought that Oracle8i did not support Intel P4
at all...In fact, they did not support P4 in this time....If
anyone figures it out..please share big references...

  • HotSync quits during USB sync

    Hello all
I have tried to undertake HotSync with a LifeDrive as well as a Z22 to MacBookPro running 10.5.5. Two weeks ago there was no issue with syncing to either PDA, but today, during HotSync, the application on the Mac quits and I get the standard message asking to relaunch/report to Apple, etc. Have reported this to Apple for both LifeDrive and Z22.
Looking at this forum I noted the advice to do Permissions Repair. This was completed with Disk Utility, computer rebooted and another HotSync tried. Same issue, application quits in the middle of the sync (about the same place each time which may indicate an issue with a particular PDA application).
Have any others experienced this issue recently? Suggestions welcomed.
    Thanks

  • Quits during encoding

Hi I just burned a test DVD from a 1 min video, which was fine. I then returned to a two-hour project. I have recently wiped the drive, reinstalled Vista and had the guys at dell take over the pc and update all the drivers this morning. I don't have Nvidia.
There's over 100gb of free hard drive space and 4gb ram. The video on the timeline is all dv-avi from a previous export from elemets 8.
Before wiping the drive I successfully burned this same project,
Now it won't burn. It starts encoding and quits at about 5%.
Is there a difference between going to SHARE and exporting your movie and going to File, Export etc?
I'm going to put the installation disc back in and install again as I have since put in Roxio and that may have interferred I dunno.
Any thoughts while I do that over the next few days?
put this question into an existing thread if you want.
    m

    I have Preimiere Elements 8.0
I have reinstalled the software to ensure that nothing else has taken over the burner.
I have installed the recent update.
I have recently wiped the hard drive and reinstalled everything.
I have defragmented both the internal and external hard drives.
I cannot burn a disc with this two-hour project consisting of DV-avi material previously exported from Elements 8. The applicaton quits after 1% encoding.
I cannot export the timeline at all to avoid the 1 frame of black thing mentioned by B. Hunt above. The application just quits.
I cannot burn to a folder. The application just quits.
I have 4GB ram, a dual core processor, and over 150GB of hard drive space on the external hard drive where both the project and the timeline material is stored (it is 25GB in size)
A year ago I was burning discs with this method all the time with no trouble.
I cannot use this software. It just quits and quits and quits.
    I don't have Nvidia.
    mmmh.

  • Photo downloader in Bridge cs6 quits during downloads

During photo downloads, my version of Bridge in CS6 quits after downloading only a portion of the images, for example it will download about 100 pictures, when there are 500 selected to be downloaded. This is a relatively new issue - it always worked fine before. Any clues how to remedy this?

How to disable this behaviour? And replace with the default behaviour of Windows 7?
Don't know how to handle the default of Windows 7 but if you don't want Photodownloader start automatically go to the Bridge Preferences general section. Under behavior you have an option to start Photodownloader when a camera is connected. just deselect this option and you should be OK
