Wireless printer is setup (HP Officejet 4500), but the HP Installer Setup program is in a never-ending loop. It says "Fatal error during installation." and keeps trying to uninstall/reinstall/ etc etc etc. Printer is setup and runs fine, just need to get rid of this crazy loop - any guidance?

Which OS is installed?
I recommend that you uninstall the printer software from the HP folder in start-->All Programs -->HP --> uninstall software
After the uninstall is completed and your system restarted install and configure the printer again.

jean156,
I am a little confused, you are posting in an iMac forum however your profile only indicates you have a MacPro. While I agree a SMC reset may help please carefully read the link The hatter provided because different Mac's have a different processes for resetting the SMC.
In the mean time you may want to update your profile (Your Stuff in upper right and click Profile) and also please post in the correct forum to avoid confusion.

• My imac desktop 9.1 the fan keeps running..i have turned off and also pulled power plug but it still runs

the fan on my imac9.1 keeps running..i shut it down and pulled the plug..did not help

The fan minimum speeds are about 1200 rpm, so if the Mac is powered on and not sleeping, they're running.
An iMac's exhaust fans will not run if its power cord is disconnected. If that's what you meant to write, you're hearing something else.

• When I click on a Firefox update My Mac Mini Os 10.4 just keeps running how long should I wait for this update to complete.

The update just keeps running it seems that it will never complete the update like it is stuck in one place with out progress.
I have the indicator on my screen going but no advancement.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

For Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

* Download a new copy of the Firefox program
* Firefox 3.6: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded

• Computer Keeps Running after Windows Shuts Down

I recently installed XP SP2 for the first time. Now, when I shut down Windows, the OS shuts down fine and the screen goes blank, but the computer itself keeps running for about 15 seconds. This has never happened before. Any ideas?

Try a more powerful power supply. It normal rated load on the 12v rail is only 4.5 amps with a max of 16.

• HT202157 When watching shows the program will run for 30 sec. go off then turn back on after another 30 seconds. Why?

"as evidently the fan draws air from the keyboard in order to stay cool."
This is a common misconception. Yes, ambient heat radiates from it, as it does from any part of your machine. But the keyboard was not designed, in any capacity, for heat dissipation and covering it will not raise internal temperatures to any noticeable degree.
Within 14 days of purchase Apple will give you a brand new model.
If you wish, you can download this software and post the temperature output from the machine upon wake. You can take a screenshot of the temperature readings:

Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles.

NOTE: Establish a habit of exiting/closing Firefox with Firefox button > Exit or File > Exit to allow an orderly shutdown of Firefox and closing of all of the files that Firefox has open.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

• Why doesn't Firefox stop running when I shut it off? Every time I shut it off and return later, I get a message that Firefox is running, but not responding and that I have to restart my computer to access Firefox.

When I shut down Firefox I get all the shutdown messages, so I assume it has shut down as it should. But if I go back to my PC later (within an hour or so) and click on Firefox to bring it up, I get the "runningbutnotresponding" message and the promt to restart my PC.
