Installer source location reverts to cd after selecting C drive with browse

When specifying the installer properties on the additional installer page, there is a box on lower right for specifying installer source location.  For NI VISA Runtime 3.4.1, the location is set to D:\Vision 8.0.0 Acquistion Software.  I use the browse option to set the location to C:\Programfiles ... but  it won't save the new location.  If I select another installer and then return to Runtime 3.4.1, the location is back to D:\ ... .  When I build the installer, I get a popup saying it can't find the installer at D:\   .  If I use the browse button to set the location to C:\ ... , the build continues successfully.

This is a known issue. There are many post out there (if you had searched) that will help you through this.
There are two ways to get around this.
Copy the entire contents of the CD to your hard drive and reinstall everything from there.
Have the CD handy and use the CD.
The reason why it does this is because is will always look for the last place it was installed from.

  • Why is there large used space after erasing external drive with disk utility?

I just used disk utility to erase a 2 TB external hard drive. After erasing it, it shows that the disk has 12 folders, 62 files, and 852 mb of used space. I thought the "erase" function is supposed to format the disk? Where does the large used space come from?
By the way, the disk used to formatted as a windows disk. I suspect it has something to do with it but have no idea what. Any help is greatly appreciated!

HI - i do not think this is purely metadata. (though it could be with your windows disk with such small used memory) i have a 1TB macbook pro drive that i have tried to reformat
METHOD 1 (recommended by advanced Apple Techy) - select hard drive (not partition) select mac os (journalled) and press 'apply' - "this will format drive removing all data. it is always best to work with the drive and not partition, if you are formatting an entire drive."
result at end - drive still shows single partition 999GB WITH 668GB USED
METHOD 2 (after response from Apple techy) - select hard drive and mac os (journalled), press secure erase and select 'write zeros' takes 12 hours
result at end - drive still shows single partition 999GB WITH 668GB USED

  • How do I open multiple locations from the History after selecting them with Ctrl+click?

Let's say I want to read some of the Mother Jones and Alternet articles I'd linked to from e-mails over the past in two months. I open my Firefox history. I do a search of the history libary to get a list of all the relevant locations. Then I use Control+click to select the few articles I want to read. I'd think Ctrl+O would open all those selected, but it doesn't. There must be a more efficient way than what I'm doing now, which is to open a new tab in the browser window, go to history, double click one line, wait for the page to load; open a new tab, go back to the history search results, click on a new location, wait as it loads, repeat.

Where are you viewing your History? <br />
    Have you tried the History Sidebar? {Ctrl + H} <br />
You can {Ctrl + Click} the pages you want to open in new Tabs, one at a time. <br />
Also, if you have your Options > Tabs pref deselected for '''When I open a new tab, switch to it immediately''', it might be less distracting with all those pages opening in the background.

  • Windows Installer Source and software repair

Hi everyone, I am looking at how the Windows Installer Source Location should work on SCCM 2012 R2.
    Here is my problem:
We are using a Powershell wrapper to install all the software we have. When creating a new application, we are setting the MSI product code so that if the application have to be repaired, the msiexec will then launch the installer at the right place, which
is under the content of the DP.
The structure is really simple, we have an EXE, a powershell script and some folder at the root of the content. All the required files are under the File folder, one step lower. This is what it look like.
    \\Server\Share\Software
    Files: Files are in there
    Support
    Tools
    Powershell Script
    EXE File
So when specifying the correct MSI file to repair the software we are pointing to
    \\Server\Share\Software\Files\MSIFile.
When configuring the installation, we are pointing to
    \\Server\Share\Software\PowershellScript.
When we are launching a repair for a software, msiexec is not able to find the correct path on the DP. After taking a closer look at the path we noticed that it is stopping at the root of the content, it is not trying to launch the MSI in the File folder.
I was concern about why the structure is not kept when initiating a repair.
I was in the idea that the general path was kept in SCCM to make sure that it will remain when installing the application so that when launching the repair it will look at
    http://Server/Content/Software/Files/MSIFile.
In my case it is stopping at http://Server/Content/Software.
But when launching the repair with the software still in the cache folder, the repair is able to happen without any problem.
Any idea of why does it behave like this?
I know it is not easy to understand, so if there is any question, please ask!
    Mathieu

When trying the repair process, the url in the registry (HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer\Classes\GUID ID\SourceList\URL) SCCM is looking at stop at http://Server/Content/Software.
The files are located in http://Server/Content/Software/Files.
To be able to repair the software, I must manually add the /Files to be able to repair the software.
So basically, when hitting the repair button from Add/Remove Programs:
There is a prompt asking me to select the path to the MSI.
When selecting the URL path, it fail.
When choosing the URL path again and adding /Files, it work
When configuring the path to the MSI in the SCCM console, the MSI file selected is under the Files folder.

  • Application Builder: Additional Installers Source Location

I am having trouble creating an installer for my application. I can build the installer when I only inculde the NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine, but I also need NI-FieldPoint for LabVIEW Real-Time and NI-VISA Runtime. When I try to include these I run into problems.
I think the problem is that I installed some of these from the discs, but now my company has an installer on the network that I have used as well, so now I don't have the discs. Is there a way to change the Installer Source Location in the Installer Properties? When I try to build the installer I am asked if I have the discs, but I do not. I want to be able to get the installers from my company's network or maybe I can download them from ni.com and have them on my computer, but I need to know how to change the Installer Source Location.
I reinstalled NI-VISA Runtime from my company's network and the Installer Source Location changed to the network location (which is what I thought I wanted), but it still asks for CDs and if I click throught I get the following errors:
    CDK_Build_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller >> CDK_Build_Invoke.vi >> CDK_Engine_Main.vi >> CDK_Engine_Build.vi >> NI_MDF.lvlib:MDFDistCopyList_CopyItem.vi

When I build the application, I get a lvapp.lib.tmp file in the temp directory, but I get no new temp files when I try to build the installer.
I would also like to point out that if if I uncheck FieldPoint 6.0.1 from the Additional Installers, and select either FieldPoint 6.0 or FieldPoint 6.0.3 (which are other optiions that show up in the list), I still get the same error as above that references 6.0.1

  • Problems - Recovering Library After a Hard Drive Failure

I would really appreciate any tips or help.
I keep all my music on an external drive in a folder located as H:/iTunesFolder
After a hard drive crash (my C drive not the external) I lost the itunes XML but I was able to recover it.
After getting a new C drive I reinstalled iTunes and copied my saved XML and ITL into the iTunes folder.
Now when I open iTunes about 80% of my songs have the exclamation point. When I search for the song it's always right there in the correct folder
I even checked the XML using notepad and I cannot see any reason that the files will not connect.
So what can I do, is there a way to MASS reconnect all the files since they are all in the right place with the right names or is there a way to get them connected in the first place.
    Thanks a lot

The easiest way would be to put all the messages that are new since the backup you want to restore from into one or more temporary mailboxes, and export those mailboxes. Put them somewhere where they won't be overwritten by restored data. Then restore. Import the mailboxes you exported and move the messages back into place.

  • How, in Illustrator CS5, can I select all objects with three points (or nodes)?

I am quite new to Illustrator, but it seems this should be simple.  (It is trivial in CorelDraw X4:  After selecting an object with three nodes, I go to Edit > Find and Replace > Find Objects > Find objects that match the currently selected object, and navigate through the remaining menus.)
In Illustrator CS5, the options under Select > Same do not seem to include selecting all objects with the same number of nodes as the currently selected object.
Double-clicking on the Magic Wand Tool also fails to provide such an option.
    Thank you for any help.
P.S.  Also useful would be knowing how to add other criteria to this search, e.g. how to select all objects with three points *and* the current fill color.

There is a script that can select "less than x points"

Hello.  In my previous iPhoto program, after i had selected a photo and made any adjustments, I simply clicked on the photo and the page would revert back to the iPhoto main page with all my photos on it.  Now I seem to have to click on the upper left of the photo to accomplish the same thing and I find that slow and cumbersome.  Is there any quicker way to do it?  Thank you for any assistance.

  • Problems installing iTunes 10.2.1 -installation source is not available

I've tried to download the upgrade to 10.2.1 a number of times with no success. I keep getting the error message:

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • "the installation source for this product is not available" error message

I was following directions to update to i-tunes 10, and my computer was trying to shut down in order to restart. It froze, and would not turn off, so I turned it off manually, then restarted. I got distracted and did not wonder why i-tunes did not finish installing. Tried to open i-tunes later from the desktop shortcut and it said something about not being installed all the way, so the shortcut was not valid.

It gives me this error message; "the installation source for this product is not available" and then gives me a file name to search my computer for, that can't be found. I MISS my i-tunes. Please help! How do I get the old i-tunes version off my computer?

Someone told me that I can find instructions to solve this problem on this website, Does anyone know how I can fix this or where I can find the instructions. Thank you.

OK, after a while on the phone here is what I had to do:
    Go to: tinyurl.com/5mhxd
Download: Windows installer cleanup (Softpedia Mirror (US) [EXE])
then go to start menu, all programs and run windows installer cleanup.
Select adobe acrobat and then press remove.
    Once removed, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
remove folders: adobe pcd, caps and backup.
This  process will completely remove adobe acrobat.  Once that is done you  can reinstall using yor disc.  I hope this helps as it took me forever  to figure it out!
