Installing 10G port licenses on 6120, what the crap?

Got a box of licenses for a 6120 UCS. Have like 40 10GB port licenses. But they are a CD, that has vague documentation on it, and a card with a "Product Authorization Key" on it.
Cannot figure how under "License Management" to install these. It only offers "Download License" local and remote. Cannot type in a license key. Are these importable via CSV? I see that I can export licenses that way.
Craig

Craig,
Go to here:
http://www.cisco.com/go/license
Log in with you CCO ID and enter the PAK (Product Authorization Key) there.  Follow the steps on the site.
You will then get a .lic file that you upload to the 6120 using the "Download License" option (Local is for the file on your computer, remote is if the file was on a ftp server or a share or something)

Some have found relief just by reinstalling, but it is more than likely incompatible third-party applications that slow it down.
You will have to investigate to see what it is.
Open Activity Monitor and see if anything is using a lot of CPU% or Memory. If they are, check to see if there is an update for them.
Another place to look is the Console. See if anything is logging repeating messages with throttling and/or respawn in the All Messages list.
Sometimes it is not that easy to root out the problems, but if you have anything that purported to clean, protect, optimize, maintain, or flush your system, then that is likely the cause.

  • ASR1001-X 10G port license

    Hi all,
    I want to order ASR1001-X with license for 10Gbps routing traffic ( FLSA1-1X-5-10G ). I need one 10GE port.
Do I need to order license FLSA1-BIN-1X10GE to enable 10G port?
Is there any chance that maybe one 10GE license is included If I upgrade to 10Gbps?
I know that licenses for 10GE ports are included if I upgrade to 20G:
"ASR1001-X bulit-in 10GE ports are turned on using port-based licenses. However, if the ASR1001-X is upgraded to 20G, then the two built-in ports are automatically included. Please see Table 37 for the Product Numbers of the port and throughput licenses."
    Regards,
    Aleksandar

Hi Alex, as you mentioned you would need to order the license to enable the 10G port. as for the inclusion with the 10Gpbs im not sure if this is possible. hope to hear from you soon!

  • Anyone know how to install Acrobat in Mac Yosemite?  What the heck.

    same question above adobe.

I found a solution that worked for me (Re: Acrobat installer (acrobatpro11_dlm) hangs indefinitely on Mac OS X Yosemite; known issue?) -- After running the Acrobat uninstaller and then installing through Adobe Application Manager I was able to get a working installation. The Acrobat installer acrobatpro11_dlm you get from cloud.adobe.com still doesn't work for me...

See the stuff in bold. i JUST got this machine yesterday via fedex. its a configure to order yes sure but my old CTO machine came with NO cycles on the battery and a capacity of 6900 (the design capacity of the battery)
should i file a claim against the battery? I sure feel like I should but i want further inputs.

Two cycles is really a drop in the bucket with respect to the life of your battery.  I've really never made it a point to check the cycle count on my battery when I first get it.  I'll usually eventually look at it when I go into the system profiler.  So long as the count isn't bizarrely high for my use, I don't really worry about it.  I tend to only go through a few cycles a week as I use my system primarily at home.
This is something I would definitely not get worked up about.

  • Whats the minimum memory for 10g R2 on Sun solaris ?

I had 10.1 running happily on red hat enterprise linux with 500m memory and trashed it to install 10.2 and this wont install as it says it needs 1g of memory now .
At work I'm intending to install 10g R2 on solaris 10 but the servers have only 512M of ram .
am I wasting my time ?
    Thanks
    George

    Hi,
It seems that the minimum required is 1024Mb RAM... from the documentation :
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15690/pre_install.htm#sthref94
It will be hard to bypass this restriction, not only for install, by for work too.
    Nicolas.

  • 10g ports with redundancy

Hi all. I hope this is the right section to post this kind of question.
Basically I need to know which switch should I buy to achieve the customer's needs.
Each floor will have 1 x 2960 with 2 10GB uplink to the core switch. The problem is I don't know which switch should I buy acting as a CORE. The customer needs at least 16 x 10G ports for each switch and the core must be redundant in some way. So the 3750 is not an option and I thought about the 4500-x with VSS but actually I'm not sure this is the best idea. Servers will be attached directly to the core switch (I know, this is not the best idea but this is what the customer want to do).
Thanks for you replies / help
    Regards

Yes, VSS with the 4500-X is one possibility, as would be the new 6880.
Or, instead of VSS, you could use a 4500, 6500 or 6807 with dual sups and dual line cards.
With VSS, your single point of failure is the IOS.  With the (redundant card) chassis, your single point of failure is the chassis, itself.  There's not much of a difference in MTBF.
Any of the above (or Nexus) would likely work well for you.  Selection depends on your budget and feature requirements.

  • Can't install 11g after removing 10g "port in use"

Trying to install Oracle 11g XE on a Windows Server 2003 machine after uninstalling 10g XE. However, I can't continue in the install process because it won't accept any of the ports I provide for the HTTP port, it claims the port is in use no matter what number I provide. 8082 is what our 10g XE used so I started with that, but 8080, 8081, 8083, or any number I randomly type in all comes back as "in use." I checked with netstat and these ports should all be free. An antivirus is installed but I have disabled it for the install. I'm logged in as the local administrator. Windows Firewall shouldn't be running either, when I try to access the settings it says that the ICS service is not running.
This issue is eerily similar to an issue someone else had: Win Server 2003 Sp2, 'port 808 is in use' He too was trying to install 11g XE on a Windows Server 2003 machine right after uninstalling 10g XE.
I'm at the end of my rope here, I really can't think of anything else that could be causing this problem.

Looks like I figured it out. The installer defaults to HTTP port 8081, which is used by Tomcat on this machine, so I wanted to use 8082. But seeing as the installer claimed the port was in use no matter what number I entered, I had a hunch it might be continually checking 8081 despite me changing the field. Sure enough, after shutting down Tomcat the installer lets me select other ports including 8082. I have no idea if that's actually the reason, but it seems to make sense given what I've seen. Weird.
    Thanks for the help!

  • 6120 Fixed Port License Usage

I was looking around in the 6120 via cmd line and noticed that the "show license usage" output shows that there is an 8 port license but than none are in use. If that is the case do what does licensing the remaining 12 ports do? What happens if you use two of those for northbound Ethernet uplinks?

Hi..  I have a similar output in my lab setup. In my lab setup, i did not purchase any license and i can use port 19 and 20, in fact all of the ports. It looks like the license is base on trust and not really enforced.  Rgds Eng Wee

  • I bought a mac mini with Lion pre-installed.  If I upgrade my mac mini to Mountain Lion, am I free to install Lion on my older macbook using the mini license?

I currently have two macs.  A 2008 macbook which is running Snow Leopard, can run Lion, and cannot run Mountain Lion.  I also have a mac mini which came with Lion pre-installed.  I plan on upgrading my mini to Mountain Lion when it's available.  After I upgrade, it seems like I should be able to install Lion on my macbook using the license that came with my mini.
I have found many articles about making a DVD or bootable USB drive to recover, or install Lion onto other macs.  So, I am not tied to the mac app store.  And I am not worried about how to install Lion onto the macbook.
I have also read a few discussions about upgrading using pre-installed Lion license.  From what I've read, if someone buys Lion through the app store, they can install it on all of their macs.  But, if they have a machine the came with Lion pre-installed they can only use Lion on one machine.  However it is unclear if that license can be transferred to another machine.
Another common answer that I have seen is, "Don't be cheap!  Just buy Lion throught the app store."  This is not about money, I'm interested in the technical challange, and the leagal question.
Does anyone have experience with this, or opinions?

If your machine came with Lion preinstalled, you cannot use it on another machine. It is tied to the machine it came with. You are allowed to make a one time transfer of the OS when you sell the machine as long as it remains with that machine.
If you purchase Lion from the app store, you are free to install it on as many Macs as you own - however, if/when you sell one of those Macs, you are required to uninstall Lion as the license is not transferable and you need to reinstall the original OS.
You can read the SLA for yourself - the link to the downloads to all licenses is here:
