Installing 10G R2 on FC 4 x86_64: libcore10.a(lcd.o)

Question

With all required packages in place, I am getting the following error,
anybody knows how to overcome?

Don't know what you mean.
I have neither /usr/bin/gcc296 nor g++296
[root@localhost bin]# ls -l /usr/bin/gcc* /usr/bin/g++*

[root@localhost lib]# uname -a

[root@localhost lib]# rpm -q gcc
gcc-4.0.0-8
This is a fresh Fedora Core 4 installation.
