Installing 8.1.6 on RH6.2 via remote X client - Problems

I've installed 8.1.5 quite a few times in the past without any problems. However, when trying to install 8.1.6 on a freshly installed RH6.2 system, I get a ton of what look like possible JRE errors and warnings.
My RH6.2 system is just a server, so the only thing I have installed regarding X is the XFree86-libs rpm, which in the past is all that was required for me to use a remote X workstation to install 8.1.5.
My ENV and kernel is setup properly as well.
When running the installer, I get an immediate warning:
"current locale is not supported in X11, locale is set to CX locale modifiers are not supported, using default"
Then about a 1.5 second pause before a slew of warnings assumingly related to the translation warning above:
Warning: ... found while parsing ':<Key>osfSelect: ManagerGadgetSelect()'
Warning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: osfActivate
(This is just a couple lines from the long list of warnings.)
Then I get a SIGSEV:
SIGSEGV received at bfffe934 in /home/oracle/Oracle8iR2/stage/Components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.8/1/DataFiles/Expanded/linux/lib/linux/native_threads/libjava.so. Processing terminated
Writing stack trace to javacore12139.txt ...
Am I missing a library that's not listed in the requirements? Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Any information would be wonderful.
Thank you,
[email protected]

Apologies for cluttering up the list.
I had a corrupt XKeysymDB. Things are fine after restoring.
Thanks.

  • Unable to install the latest version of Adobe Muse via Adobe Application Manager

I´m a user of Creative Suite applications  and all of them have been updated successfully with the exception of the latest version of Adobe Muse.
I´m unable to install it. I get error DW 050
    I´m using Windows 7 64 bit.
All previous versions of Adobe Muse have been installed OK.
Following a forum discussion I could read, I uninstalled the previous version, but the installation fails again.
Does any body know how to solve this issue?

    Dear Sachin:
Thank you for your help, however I have to get back to you to inform that after  downloading the new package based on the link that you´ve provided, I´m  still unable to execute the application.  I get the message: “block by the administrator”  and also another message: “the editor of this program is unknown and unsafe”. Please note that all other programs from Adobe´s Creative Cloud have been downloaded and installed with success. All Adobe Creative programs have been installed on my computer several months ago and all are working fine so far.  This morning I installed an update for Photoshop without  any problem. It seems that the problem persists only with Muse. I have to highlight that I´m the administrator of my PC and therefore all applications are currently being executed as administrator. I have never had the intention to block any program, including obviously Adobe´s Creative Suite programs.
Could you please let me know how to splve this problem?
    Michael.

  • Installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO not working properly

    Hello,
i've installed Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO.
Installation works fine, but there is no flash player available in Firefox or Internet Explorer.
    Deployed both Flash Players.
Tried to reinstall Flash Player 11.8.800.94 for Firefox, but it's still not active.
    Windows 7, 64bit
    Greetings,
    Michael

    Hello Comvel.
    RE:
    Hello,
    i haven't fixed it yet.
I've deployed the last few version of flash player without any problems.
I haven't found any new things in the admin guide.
The plugins don't show up in both browsers. I can't enable them.
On the most importent clients, i've installed flash player manually.
I know it has been a few months since your post but, I was wonderingif you were able to find a solution for this that didn't involve manual installations. I've recently deployed 11.8.800.175 and am running into the same problems. Some work stations are just fine. But others, (both windows 7 and xp, all IE8) are not working. When navigating to a site like youtube, theres a banner that says update is needed. When you go to manage add-ons there is no shock object/add on.

  • Can't install Photoshop (CS3) via Remote Disc

I was successfully able to install iWork '08 last night via Remote Disc, but I've tried twice to install Photoshop and both times it failed. I was able to get on Acrobat Professional and some of the Shared Components, but after anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours it gives me a message saying that installation of Photoshop failed.
Anyone else had a similar problem?

Don't know about Windows issues since I was installing from my MBP. I can only imagine it's worse.
I was successful in dragging the entire Photoshop folder over from the MBP last night, but when I opened it it said that pieces were missing. That's the trouble with CS3; it's all so intertwined that it seems like you really need the installer to help you get just the bits you need.
I'm trying to embrace Steve's disc-less vision here, but I'm not sure if we're there yet. I don't want to break down and by the Superdrive, but it sounds like a lot of people got one (probably in anticipation of this kind of headache).

  • Install Mac OS 10.4 toher than via DVD

I have a G3 Beige DT with OWC G4 500 MHz upgrade. It has a 20 GB and a 15 GB HD. I partitioned both HDs for Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X. I have never succeeded in installing Mac OS X to the smaller HD, despite that I followed the first-8 GB-rule. I was able to install the larger HD with Mac OS 10.2 and updated to Mac OS 10.2.8. However, I have found Mac OS 10.2.8 is far from being perfect with lots of permission errors.
I love to install Mac OS 10.4 onto the larger HD. However, I cannot get the DVD drive working in installation, even with the help of Xpostfactor4. Is there any alternative in installing Mac OS 10.4 other than via the DVD drive?
BTW, the small HD is a Quantum product. I guess that it is incompatible with Mac OS X.
Thank you in advance for any advice.
    Robert
    G4 AGP   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Robert,
the Beige G3 is not supported because Apple quit developing the necessary hardware drivers. XPostFacto substitutes this be providing hardware drivers for the standard equipment of older hardware. However, as soon as you use 3rd-party equipment (e.g. CPU upgrade, graphic card, etc.) this does not work anymore.

If the system won't boot from the new drive the OP bought and install OS X on it it certainly won't boot from the original drives Recovery HD partition.
Sorry genius.....but if the Recovery disk shows up that means the disk cable isn't bad.  Could be he did have a screwed up HDD and when he put the NEW HDD in (after putting the OS on it via USB) the computer didn't reconize it and therefore didn't boot the OS.  Just maybe right genius?  Don't rush to criticize someone's recommendations until you realize other possibilities.  (I did say "if it does")

  • Windows 8 PC not able to remote desktop via Remote Web Access

Windows 8.1 PCs cannot initiate a Remote Desktop session to Windows 7 PCs via Remote Web Access running on Windows Server 2012 Essentials.  The Windows 8.1 PC can Remote Desktop to the Windows 7 PC by IP using a VPN, and can connect using
the "Remote Desktop to the Computer" option under Devices in the WSE Dashboard.
All PCs and the server have all Windows updates applied.  Specificallly, the Windows 7 PC has KB2574819 is installed and the RDP Policy 8.0 has been activated using local group policy.  NLA is not active.
Given that direct Remote Desktop connections work OK but not RDP proxy session, it would appear that the problem has to do with the RD Proxy on Windows Server Essentials.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?  Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips on how to trace this problem down?

    Hi,
Please check if there is any error in the remote desktop service log both on the Windows 8.1 client and server sides. You can find the log under Applications and Services logs – Microsoft
    – Windows – TerminalServices.
    Thanks.

  • Why will Firefox will not open when connecting via Remote Desktop?

I have Firefox v. 6.0 or 7.0 installed on a Win 7 machine. It works fine locally, but when I connect to the machine via Remote Desktop it will not start.

Make sure that the pref dom.storage.enabled is set to true on the about:config page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Dom.storage.enabled
    * https://developer.mozilla.org/en/dom/storage (Storage location and clearing the data)
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • RDP via remote web workspace from Server 2012 R2 Essentials on Win 8 Client unable to connect to local printer.

    Hi,
Having an issue redirecting to a local printer when using a remote desktop session initiated through from a Essentials 2012 R2 server via remote web workspace on a Win 8.1 client, it doesn't pick up the Local printer, or even give the option of which
local resources to use on connection, just goes straight through and displays the remote desktop on connection.
I know its not a server global policy issue as it works fine on a Win 7 client with the same user being able to print locally whilst in a RD session
Any idea's as to how I can resolve this issue and enable local redirected printing or at least give me the options of specifiying which resources to connect on the local machine at the start of a session.
It's complicated I think as the essentials box is acting as the gateway so I cannot setup a session directly, the certificates are all working correctly so I am confused as to whats causing the issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    hi,
after trying and trying , i finally gave up and realised that one may not install vista via remote disk
so i created a .iso of the vista install disk . And over my networked, transfered it over to my MBA desktop.
yet bootcamp wont reconized or install vista...
is there any way i can use some type of vertual drive and trick bootcamp ?
or do i NEED to buy the super drive ?

Apple support official answer is here: <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307310>
+MacBook Air requires a USB optical drive for the installation of Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2) or Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit versions only). The Remote Disc sharing software included with the MacBook Air cannot be used to install Microsoft Windows. Be sure to connect your external USB optical drive to your MacBook Air before starting the Boot Camp Assistant.+

  • PE on server via remote desktop?

    Hi there,
We're currently evaluating Premiere Elements. One of the issues I would like to discuss is the following: although we have a few laptops, we also have a fast xenon dual core, 4GB RAM Dell server, running on win 2003 32 bit.
Is it possible to install P.E. on this server and work via remote desktop?
If not, is it possible to do this with Premiere Pro (we can consider upgrading, since we're now only evaluating)
If not, is it possible to work locally but do all the rendering automatically on our server?
The main issue thus is: how can working with Premiere be less intensive for our laptops and how can we use the power of our server.
(everything is on a local LAN 100Mbit, but this could be upgraded to 1Gb)
    Thanks a lot!

I'm with the other two gentlemen on this one. No flavor of Premiere, Pro, or Elements, works well, if at all, on a network. Encore, the authoring application in PrPro is even worse at this.
There have been several posts, mostly from the academic community, wishing to do similar. Unfortunately, no one, as I recall, has ever posted back to a thread after speaking with Adobe Technical Support.
Now, I have worked with Assets stored on either mapped network drives, or on an NAS, but that is really quite different and simple. Because of speed, even on a gigabit NIC, I usually just Copy the Assets over to one of my internal HDD's, or to a FW-800 external. That is not much help in your case.
I would urge you to post back and share any info that you do get. I hope that I am wrong, and there's an easy way to handle this. I'd also love to see Adobe release an "academic server" version of the program, with maybe satellite modules for the networked users. School is a great place for Adobe to make inroads to compete with the Mac-based FCP. PE would be a great program for students to work on. I can also see issues, if one had to install the full program and set up user accounts at a high level on lab machines - networking would be ideal. [The latter was more a "note" to Adobe, and was not a rant.]
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • IPhone and iPad cannot connect via Remote to iTunes

I updated iTunes yesterday and today none of our iPhones or iPads can see the itunes library via Remote. I've gone through the troubleshooting. The best result I got was to get the icon to reappear on remote's devices list. But it won't connect when I select it. Eventually it stops looking and I get this message "Remote can't connect to your iTunes library. Check your network settings and try again." I've checked all the settings on all the devices. I've logged out and back in. I turned the router off and back on. I've turned home sharing off and back on. Network seems to be working fine for everything else. I have not checked if my Apple TV will work or not.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks

Fixed the problem - all I needed to do was power cycle my router. Schoolboy error!

    Every time Firefox opened

How about if you right click on the PDF and select Save Link As..., and then open it locally from within Reader? Does it work ok then?  That might be a workaround until the issue within the browser is resolved.
