Installing a d2 quadra but can't use the setup assistant because PowerPC Applications are no longer supported. Help...
I'm tring to install a d2 quadra external drive but can't use the setup assistant because "PowerPC Applications are no longer supported". Anyone have any ideas?
You shouldn't need to install anything just to use the drive. Just connect it to your Mac and it should mount. If it's the Intego Backup Assistant you're trying to install, try the latest version which you can download here:

When trying to setup my external hard drive, I get this box that pops up and says this:
You can’t open the application “LaCie Setup Assistant” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.PowerPC was a type of processor used in Mac systems before Apple switched to Intel-based processors. These older chips required applications to be coded differently, to the extent that they will not run on the Intel processors in newer Macs. Apple used to include a translator that allowed these programs to at least run, but this translator is no longer available so if you run into an older PowerPC-based program then OS X will give you this error.

I can't open the app PACE because PowerPC application are no longer supported
I need solution
PowerPC apps are simply not supported in 10.7. You can update the app, replace it or downgrade back to 10.6.

i am a OS10.7.4 user. yesterday i bought a Lacie external hard disk but error message appear said " You cant open the applicant LaCie setup assistant because PowerPC applicants are no longer support". please help me how to connect my mac with Lacie??
You do not need the Setup Assistant; in fact, you do not need any software on an external hard drive. I have two LaCie's; I erased the drive as soon as I plugged it in. You will need to format it anyway because most hard drives come Windows formatted. So, if you only want to use it with the Mac, highlight it in Disk Utility and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format and the GUID Partition scheme under Options. While doing that, it will erase the drive (and get rid of the LaCie software) - once finished, your drive is ready to use for Time Machine or any other backup plans you have for it.

I have a disc for Final Draft 7 screenwriting software. My attempt to use it today failed because "PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I don't even know what this really means. Can anyone please tell me how to work around this or get those applications supported (as they must have been before)? Thanks.
PowerPC was the processor type for Macs prior to 2006. It was coded in a way that is not compatible with the 2006 and later Intel-based Macs. To ease the transition, Apple included a way for the OS to "translate older programs coded for PwoerPC Macs so they would run on Intel Macs.
This lasted about six years. PowerPC Support for pre-Intel Mac software, which through OS 10.6.8 was handled by Rosetta emulation, disappeared with OS 10.7 in 2011.
You either need to upgrade Final Draft to a version that supports Macs with Intel Processors, or use your current software on an older Mac. -
Tried to install a new game that I bought (Xiii) for my MBP. All system req have been met and exceeded, however when trying to install it I get an error message saying "You can’t open the application “XIII Install” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
I have since read online that the operating software Yosemite has got rid of PowerPC applications, meaning I can't install my new game.
Is there anything simple that I can do to get this game to work. I'll be gutted if not as I have opened the game therefore the shop will not give a full refund, I'm sure .

SimonA lot longer ago than that. PowerPC apps haven't been supported since Lion, 10.7.x.
You may have just purchased the game, but the developers obviously haven't kept up to date with the requirements for newer versions of the Mac OS.
You have three options, depending on how old your Mac is.
1) If it were ever able to boot directly to Snow Leopard, you could create a separate partition and install SL onto that partition. Make sure to turn on the option during the installation to install Rosetta. That is OS X's PPC emulator.
2) If your Mac is too new to install Snow Leopard, then you can purchase and install Snow Leopard Server within a VM, such as Parallels, VirtualBox, or Vmware.
3) Use a separate older Mac for running outdated software. -
I installed Lion 10.7.4. Went to use Photoshop Cs and got a popup window. You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop CS because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Is there a way of getting this to work or do I have to get newest version of all of my Power PC apps?
Welcome to Apple Communities
PowerPC applications are unsupported in newer versions. You can upgrade Photoshop or you can install Snow Leopard in a partition.
1. Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) and select your drive
2. Go to Partitions tab, press + button, create a new partition and press Apply
3. Insert the Snow Leopard install DVD and reboot pressing C key
4. Install it in the new partition
5. If you want to change boot, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and select 10.7 -
I'm trying to install CS2 on a mac OS X version 10.9.4. When I try to open the installer file I get a message "You can't open the application Adobe Installer because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Does anyone know what I should do?
It means what it says - it's not compatible with modern Macs. You need to buy a current version.

Can't install Final Cut Studio 2 because "PowerPC applications are no longer supported"
Bought a brand new 15" MacBookPro OS X 10.7 2.2Ghz Intel Core i7 and tried to install Final Cut Studio 2. Got the error message "You can't open the application FinalCutStudio.mpkg because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." Oh no, does this mean I have to spend more money!???
I'd like to provide an update on this situation in case anyone is in the same boat I am.
I went to the Apple store today. I asked if I could downgrade my operating system. They said no, since it came pre-installed with Lion. I asked if Final Cut Studio 3 was compatible with Lion. They said yes, for the most part. They said there was an issue exporting video in 1080p.
Of course, conveniently Apple is no longer selling FCS3 and the ones on Ebay I saw have gone up to more than $650 a copy. I am out $400 for stupidly buying FCS2 a few months ago, which is now useless to me. I told the Apple guy that I'm not buying FCS X until they work out all the kinks. This leaves me with this laptop that I bought for video editing with no editing software to use.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually considering getting Premiere Pro now for Apple, which is supported in Lion and is running a deal for 50% off. (http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq.html#lion-os) If Apple doesn't start selling FCS 3 again, they are really not giving me any choice but to switch! -
I am trying to install print controller and printer -but get this error message when trying to use the installer:
You can’t open the application “OSX installer” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
I also have a macbook pro running the same version OS and it installed fine there - I can't find the difference; but, NEED to print from my IMac.
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!I'm guessing you've tried Fiery's website for updated drivers? I wonder whether Lion drivers would work? Anything of use here:

Please help with the message I am receving on startup ""You can't open the application NovamediaDiskSupressor because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
I have read some of the replies in the Apple Support Communities, but as I am no techie, I would have no idea how I would implement that solution.
Please help with what I need to type, how, where, etc.
Many thanks
AppleSueIn HunterCreekI am afraid there is no solution.
PowerPC refers to the processing chip used by Apple before they transferred to Intel chips. They are very different, and applications written only for PPC Macs cannot work on a Mac running Lion.
You could contact the developers to see if they have an updated version in the pipeline. -
I am trying to open the application for educational software and the message You can't open the application Install because PowerPC applications are no longer supported....keeps appearing...help
The installer is for a PowerPC-based Mac, last produced in 2006.
Often, that software is just a "reader" that displays a menu of items to select from. The files themselves are in folders on the disk and you may be able to access them without using the installer. -
I just installed Photoshop Elements that is supposed to be for Mac. The message appeared that said, ""You can't open the application Photoshop Elements 2.0 because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I have a Mac OS X, Version 10.8.5,
