Installing a J2EE compliant resource adapter

Hi,
          Do I need to install weblogic application Intergrator to install a
          resource adapter.
          Means, I have 2 files, one is rar and another is war which together forms
          the resource adapter
          that I want to deploy in weblogic. To deploy this do I need to install WLAI,
          or just installing weblogic will work ?
          If I can deploy it without installing WLAI, then how do I do that ?

  • JBoss resource adapter installation

    I am trying to install the coherence-tx resource adapter into JBoss for evaluation purposes and I am having some classloading issues. I was wondering if there was a guide to installing the resource adapter as I have been unable to find a complete one. I would like to install the resource adapter as part of an EAR but I am not sure which jars (tangosol.jar, coherence.jar, etc.) must be included in the EAR and which jars can be left in the specific web application. Also, where is the recommended location of the cache configuration files in this setup? Does the resource adapter require access to that or can I bundle that in the WAR?

    Thanks for the clarification. I have now included both jars in the EAR (as well as carving out a jar with all of my cache entities and value extractors) and added them to the ear. I am now getting a license exception from the adapter :
         com.tangosol.license.LicenseException: The necessary license to perform the operation is not available; a license for "Tangosol Coherence: Application Edition" is required.
         When coherence starts up without using the adapter, it seems that the evaluation includes this license :

         So I'm guessing that it is probably some kind of JBoss thing here. Have you tried using the cache adapter in JBoss (I used 4.0.4)? I have attached my coherence-ds.xml file for reference. If you could give it a try that would be great, it is pretty easy to setup. I have added the coherence-tx.rar, tangosol.jar & coherence.jar to my ear (as well as custom jar for dto's) and dropped the coherence-ds.xml in JBoss' deploy directory.

  • Cci resource adapter in weblogic

              Hi,
              I am trying to install the cciblackbox-tx resource adapter that comes with
              sun reference implementation. I successfully deployed the resource adapter and
              created the stored procedures in cloudscape. I get a null pointer exception when
              I call the execute method on the interaction. I did check that the connection,
              interaction are not null. I have a feeling that the java class (Procs.class) that
              you create for the stored procedures need to be in the classpath of the cloudscape
              server when it starts. I would appreciate if anyone can provide insight into this.

              Weblogic 6.1 ships cloudscape 3.5.1. Sun's RI ships cloudscape 3.6. cloudscape
              3.5.1 does not fetch the metadata of the stored procedures properly. I upgraded
              to cloudscape 3.6 and evrything works fine. I did try the example on suns RI and
              it works fine.

  • Sample JAVA code using Resource Adapter for RFC Connections

    Hi Java Knowledgeable Ones.
    I have successfully deployed the SAP Netweaver J2ee Engine "Resource Adapter for RFC Connections to ABAP Systems" to my Web Application Server.  Now I need to develop a JAVA application that would utilize this deployed resource adapter.  The resource adapter specifies the SAPClient, UserName, and password.  I am thinking that the JAVA code to invoke this connection would therefore not need to provide this information as it should be available in the resource adapter.
    Do you have sample code that you could send to me showing how to do this?

    Hi Kevin,
    this is actually no good style! You should not open the connection with the adaptor knowing the password. Usually it should work via a connection that uses only basic rights  and the user has already authenticated and is using his security ticket.

  • How to install custom Resource Adapter

    Hi I have writen the java class for the Custome Resource adapter and I loaded the .class file into web-inf classes folder.I followed the installation steps given in the deployement document.In that I am not understanding one step i.e "Install .class file and help file into IDM" How can we do this and How to get the particular resource under Managed Resources tabe of Configure tab./its very urgent for me any kind of help is appriciable.

    Ok, since it is urgent, do it the way Sun/Waveset inserts the adapters.
    1.) Alter your java code to have
    package com.waveset.adapter;
    As your package line.
    2.) Compile the adapter to a class file.
    3.) Grab the idm.jar file from $WSHOME/WEB-INF/lib and copy it to e.g /tmp
    4.) unjar it. jar -vxf idm.jar
    5.) copy the your adapter class file to /tmp/com/waveset/adapter
    6.) jar the archive. jar -cvf idm.jar /tmp/com
    7.) Make a backup of the original idm.jar, and copy the new to the old position replacing the old jar-file. Bounce your app-server.
    8.) Log in as configurator or an administrator with equal capabilities. And add the custom adapter using the previous procedure... although, use the adaper class path
    com.waveset.adapter.YourCustomAdapter
    9.) Go to debug pages and put tracing on the same class file, and tail -f the app-server std out.
    10.) try to configure the adapter. Note any eventual error messages. Post error messages on the forum along with the std out log.
    If your adapter code works, it should work... if not your problems are elsewhere.
    Please not that this set up is not recommended for production environment and if you apply service packs etc this fix will break!

  • Deploying J2E CA 1.0 Resource Adapter on 11g

    I am currently only supplying an ra.xml file since I have not been able to get the same RAR file that worked with WLS 8 to install correctly on 11g with my weblogic-ra.xml. I receive the following error even though I do not supply a weblogic-ra.xml file as the error message states. Are 1.0 resource adapters supported? I have included a copy of the ra.xml at the bottom of message.
    Any ideas?

    There should be a weblogic-ra.xml file in your deployment plan somewhere. The structure of the deployment plan is as follows:

    The resource adapter does not support you specifying a <jndi-name> for the resource adapter. You can however specify <jndi-name> for the connection instances you create after deploying the adapter. If you have a <jndi-name> for the recource adapter, simply delete it from weblogic-ra.xml (also delete empty element such as <jndi-name></jndi-name> or <jndi-name /> ). Then update the adapter from the Deployments page in Admin console.

  • NoClassDefFoundError error when deploying a resource adapter rar file

    Hi,
    Iam trying to deploy a resource adapter(RA) rar file which uses orabpel.jar.
    1. When i dont package the orabpel.jar along with the adapter, i get the following error during deployment

    Currently i package orabpel.jar file along with the RA rar file, deploy, later go and modify the oc4j-ra.xml from application-deployments/... to include the imported-shared-libraries, remove the orabpel.jar from the connectors/BRMAdapter directory, restart the AS and it works
    Iam using Oracle AS 10.1.3 as part of the SOA Suite.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Found a soln, add the codesource to the j2ee instance application.xml
    eg adding the following
    <imported-shared-libraries>
    <import-shared-library name="oracle.bpel.common"/>
    </imported-shared-libraries>
    solves the problem. Make sure the shared libraries are installed and is added to the instance server.xml
    This is described in "Oracle® Containers for J2EE Developer’s Guide 10g (10.1.3.1.0)"
    But not sure if the end customers need to be told to edit the configuration file manually.

  • JCA Resource Adapter Deployment in OAS 10.1.2

    Hi,
    I have installed the Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) (j2ee & web cache) and I want to know how I can deploy a JCA Resource Adapter. Until now I have work with Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) and this version has a section in the administration web (applications->Standalone Resource Adapters) where I can deploy the RA.
    But now, I have to deploy a Resource adapter in OAS 10.1.2 and I don't know how to do it. Any help?

    Is there any error or warning message in WLS server log related to your adapter? WLS may ignore some properties if found non-fundamental error.

  • TopLink as a resource adapter

    Is it possible to setup TopLink as a resource adapter (to be used as persistence provider in an application server other than Oracle)?
    When will we see support of persistence.xml as EntityManager configuration mechanism?

    TopLink supports all compliant J2EE servers in the architecture you describe (Session Beans managing persistent objects through TopLink). The only issues developers face is configuring the JDBC pool access and the JTA bridge. We do not ship a specific JTA bridge for the IPlanet 6.5 server but we do ship a generic bridge (9.0.3 PACKAGE: oracle.toplink.jts). This should work. The source for these files are also provided in the core/lib/source.jar in case any customizations to the generic code are required for a given server.
    Unfortunately I don't have an IPlanet example readily available.

    All,
              Here are the steps we (used for internal testing) had to perform to get
              IN-Q-MY adapter for SAP to work with WebLogic:
              The wli.adapter.inqmy.sapr3.spi package contains extensions to the
              In-Q-My J2EE Connector Architecture classes to overcome some limitations
              in the base implementation classes. To get around these issues, we had
              to extend their R3ManagedConnectionFactory, R3ConnectionManager, and
              R3ConnectionFactory classes.
              * The javax.resource.spi.ManagedConnectionFactory implementation
              does not over-ride the equals and hashCode methods correctly. This
              causes problems with WLS 6.1.
              * There is a bug in their javax.resource.spi.ConnectionManager
              implementation for non-managed uses of the adapter. Consequently, their
              adapter cannot be used in a non-managed scenario.
              * The javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory class does not support
              the getConnection() method that does not take any arguments (it throws a
              null pointer exception).
              I am attaching the classes discussed above.

  • Deploying BC4J as J2EE compliant applications

    Hi.
    I've been looking over the threads concerning deployment of BC4J applications into oc4j.
    Maybe I have missed the concept of bc4j, but doesn't bc4j act as 'just another runtime library' and be deployed as a standard J2EE library, i.e:
    war-file->
    /WEB-INF/classes/<all the java-classes, including bc4j packages>
    /WEB-INF/web.xml
    /WEB-INF/lib/<bc4j runtime libraries>
    /<jsp,html,images etc.>
    It seems to me that BC4J is not really adapted to a J2EE environment. For example, local file access from an EJB application is a big no-no in the specs.
    Is there any plans for a rewrite of bc4j to make it more 'J2EE-compliant'?

    You could deploy the BC4J archives along with each and every WAR file if you want, but this is kind of a waste. Instead, you typically deploy them in the global library directory of your container.
    BC4J reads resources from the application context for things like metadata files. Have you found this issue to stop you from successfully running BC4J applications as J2EE EJB Session Beans?
    Remember the J2EE includes both Servlets and EJB's. Some customers shy away from the additional complexity of EJB's and build J2EE-compliant applications that work entirely in the J2EE "Web Tier" without using the "J2EE EJB Tier" as well.
    BC4J-powered J2EE applications support deploying application components either to the J2EE Web Tier or to the J2EE EJB Tier without requiring code changes.

  • How to upgrade web app to J2EE compliant, EJB, etc.

    I support an application that was designed and created before the EJB 2.0 spec
    came out. It was built by a regional consulting company, who used their own application
    framework instead of EJB stuff. Their framework mainly consists of classes to
    handle transactions, JDBCconnections, and what is basically their equivalent of
    an EJB, called a Domain Object. The framework is actually pretty impressive and
    works quite well.
    I'm trying to evaluate whether it would be worth 'upgrading' the entire application,
    to use EJBs and other things to make it J2EE compliant. I've worked with JSPs
    and servlets for a couple years, but I've no experience with EJBs. I've pieced
    together an extremely simply stateless-session bean and have been able to use
    it on a JSP, but now I'm trying to get entity beans working, and can't find any
    examples or tutorials of how to invoke, load, create, etc. an EJB in a JSP/servlet.
    Can anyone recommend a resource for this? I've just ordered the latest Enterprise
    Java Beans book from OReilly, but I didn't know how much that had on actually
    using EJBs within JSPs and servlets.

  • Resource Adapter errors in WebLogic 10.3

    I'm getting ClassCastException from coherence 3.5.3 resource adapter in WebLogic 10.3.
    I've already tried to install resource adapter as a separate deploy and inside ear file, but get same errors.
    Has anybody already managed to use this adapter along with weblogic 10.3 ? The error occurs when I try to get a NamedCache object. The distributed cache named "cache" is up and running since I manage to get and put objects into cache by using NamedCache from CacheFactory (CacheFactory.getCache("cache")).

    The problem may be related to having more than one coherence.jar and tangosol.jar in the classpath. Can you verify that you only have one of those in the classpath?
