Hopefully not to Off Topic - when installing a lot of fonts (2000+), would you [Install] or [Install a shortcut/copy]? Does either slow the system down more than the other? PC/Win7/CS6

None. CS3 will work with your basic system fonts. Those fonts are extras.
That said, they are great fonts, worth several hundred dollars. Use them instead of web freebies, which can cause problem due to poor construction. The only ones I don't load in are the Asian fonts.

Installing Adobe Type 1 Fonts on Solaris

We want to install ocra fonts on a workstation running Solaris 10. Currently the fonts are installed in a Solaris 8 server in:
/usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/Type1
On the workstation, we ftp'd the files from the server to /tmp on the workstation. We ran /usr/dt/bin/sdtfontadm and tried to use it to install the fonts. When you select install, 'Go To' /tmp and click 'Choose,'
we get a segmentation core dump. We have called this into Sun as a separate issue.
So we tried the manual way as described in IDAutomation.com (Installing Fonts on UNIX for Oracle Reports) and Oracle (Doc ID: 171464.1)
Both are pretty much the same. The following are the instructions:
1) copy ocra.pfa to /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/outline
2) chown root:bin; chmod 644
3) Create a link of the file to /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/Type1
4) Edit fonts.scale and add 1 to the number on top of the file.
5) add the following line:
ocra-pfa -adobe-ocra-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1
6) Run: /usr/openwin/bin/mkfontdir
7) Run: /usr/openwin/bin/xset fp rehash
8) Verify the font installation using /usr/dt/bin/sdtfontadm
When we run step 8, the font is there but the example tesxt is not OCR but courier.
We tried reformatting the workstation (due to the core dump) and setting it up to default to en_iso8859-1.
Can anyone help with this?

If you don't have both files for a particular font, the font is uninstallable and unusable. To install a Type 1 font on a Windows system, the .pfb and .pfm for the font should be in the same directory. Right click on the font and click on Install or Install as shortcut. Install copies the two files to the \Windows\Fonts directory and subsequently uses the font from that location. Install as shortcut uses the font from the location the files are currently located in with the caveat that you must keep those files in that location or else the fonts will no longer be accessible.
If you actually attempted to install Adobe Type Manager on 32-bit Windows 7 (or later) system, you may have destroyed your system's ability to properly install and use Type 1 fonts at all. If this has happened, you may need to reinstall Windows! (If I recall correctly, the installer for ATM refuses to run at all on Windows 64-bit versions, sparing you the destruction of your Type 1 rendering!)

Help! Have trouble installing PostScript Type 1 fonts on Windows 7

Hey there. I had a font package by a gift from a friend. As I open the font pack, All of the PostScript Type 1 font has a blank white icon. It's not working. I installed Adobe Type Manager but it's not compatible with my Windows 7 computer. Does anyone know what another font application that can open and install PostScript Type 1 fonts on my Windows 7? Can't install source code pro fonts in MAC

I'm unable to install source code pro fonts (open source fonts from Adobe).
The download is fine and the install button functions for the .ttf file seems to works perfectly - But no install takes place??

This is the issue related with the transport of objects.
Z FM did not got transported to the production and only the program got transported.May be someone missed the object.
You have to attach the Z FM to the transport in dev , then moven to quality and then to production.
Chances are there that FM is not transported form quality to production, check this.

As far as I know, you do not.
The only things that you install are from the App Store in itunes.

After installing Solid Edge ST6, fonts on IE (like facebook) looks weird.

After installing a Educational copy of Solid Edge 6, fonts look weird. It has happened before and I then I uninstalled Solid Edge and the problem was gone. Right now I have to use it for school work and kinda hate browsing facebook and other pages that the
font looks messed up. They look like are pushed from the sides and look kinda thin. Weirdly pages like YouTube and Google look alright. It is not the browsers fault, because the problem is on Chrome aswell.
If needed, the laptop is a HP ProBook 470 G0, running windows 8 pro.

Just installed arch, lots of cryptic errors

1. logitech mx5000 bluetooth mouse. when i type 'hidd --connect' and the address, i get:
Can't get device information: Connection timed out
how can i connect it?
2. midori errors. when i load midori, i get several 'gtk-warning' errors in the terminal window, e.g., 'error loading theme icon'. how do i fix these errors?
also, i don't like the default keyboard shortcuts. is there any way i change these, maybe globally? e.g., i'd rather use ctrl + tab and ctrl + shift + tab to change tabs.
3. wireless setup. i've installed the driver and wicd, but when i type 'wicd-client -n' to load it, i get a whole bunch of lines:

1) i don't use bluetooth, so can't help you with that
2 / 4) it seems you have no default icon theme installed yet, for instance
pacman -S hicolor-icon-theme
then you need to set it as default theme, see point 5
3) wicd is a client-server model which needs a running daemon:
sudo /etc/rc.d/wicd start
be aware that you also need to have hal and dbus installed + running to use wicd
5) that depends on which desktop environment you are using:
considering you seem to be just starting out with linux/arch, it would recommend installing either gnome or xfce4, which will make these tasks a lot easier for your. gnome is the most newbie-friendly, xfce4 is a bit more minimal and will require more work from your side. if you do decide to go for a more 'hardcore' setup right away (i.e. windowmanager-only), be prepared to get your hands dirty and spend a lot of time trying and figuring things out. most of the questions you ask are quite basic, and would be easy to find out yourself by digging through the wiki and the forums.

Installed photoshop, now all fonts look strange

I installed photoshop and now my safari pages look crazy. The font is different and smaller, everything seems slightly zoomed out, and changing setting in safari preferences hasn't changed anything.
HELP!

Clear the font cache files from the system.
Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and all user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

Since I installed Helvetica Black, all fonts display in bold, but when I uninstall it, they're fine again.

I've seen many other people having issues with all fonts displaying in bold with the latest Firefox update. For me, the update did nothing, but when I installed Helvetica Black to my computer, many fonts on the web show up in bold where they shouldn't.
I have no problems with any of my other Helvetica weights being installed, just Black.
As a graphic designer, I want to have the font, but I also want to see all the websites with the fonts they intended to use, rather than a default font. Is there any kind of add-on or fix I can use so that I can keep websites in their own fonts, AND have Helvetica Black installed?
Other details:
I have the latest Firefox.
I'm on Windows 7.
4 of my Helvetica weights are fine, the Black is not.

Hi there - I'm having similar bold text issues with a customer's instance of Firefox 5.0.1 running on Windows 7, Home Premium, SP1 on a Lenovo laptop. There are two issues to be exact:
# text that is supposed to be normal weight appears bold
# some text has an incorrect amount of spacing (padding/margin) around it
These symptoms appear only on this one machine and appears to be fine in Firefox 5.0.1 across at least 3 other machines running Win 7 as well as all other browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari) we've tested in across a variety of platforms.
I've attached an image with a side-by-side comparison of the normal view next to the broken view as it appears on this specific machine.
I've tried unchecking the hardware acceleration option and restarting Firefox - did not work.
I've also tried running Firefox in Windows XP compatibility mode (as suggested here: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/how-to/repair-the-google-and-gmail-bold-font-issue/) - did not work.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

CS6 install - can I deselect font install

Installing CS6 and already have most of the fonts in FAP. Is it okay to deselect "Adobe fonts recommended" and manually install the ones I don't have, if need be? Seems obvious, but thought I should ask incase there's something I'm not aware of.
