Installing a lot of stuff... just for the weekend

This is what I hope is a very simple question: I have 2 MacBook Pros at home, mine is used as part of my music-rig. I am thinking of using my wife's laptop as a backup. We do regular backups on our Time Capsule. This is what I want to do:
- Install the gigabytes of stuff I need to install in her computer on Thusrday
- Be sure this new version of her computer is backed up.
- Go through the weekend having that version of her computer as a backup
- On monday, restore the latest backup before I installed it all, so her computer goes back to its original configuration. If I ever need this again, I will bring the copy I backed up back from the Time Capsule.
Do you see any problems with this? Please let me know, thank you very much!!

You need an external drive so you can free up disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
