Installing a Mac version upgraded from Win

I just purchased a Mac after 20 years plus on a PC/Win. I have PS CS4 Ext for Win and could upgrade that to CS5 Ext for Mac. However, I will be asked to insert the qualifying CD/DVD for the upgrade. Since I do not have Windows or Parallels installed on my new Mac, will the Mac read/recognize the qualifying Windows CD/DVD in order for me to complete the installation of the Mac upgraded CS5?
I am not able to get a hold of anyone at Adobe today

No, absolutely not.
What's more, the Windows serial number will be invalid to cross over to a Mac upgrade. You'll need a special serial number, rather than just buying a Mac upgrade. Call Adobe customer service in order to request a "cross-grade", which involves surrendering the Windows license altogether and destroying the Windows version.
You will no longer be able to use the Windows copy, ever.

After upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1 my DVD RAM GT80N SATA Drive is no longer recognizing discs. When I first put a disc in the drive runs for a bit and then stops. I've tried updating the driver but it says it has the most current driver. Under manage, it does not show any error codes and it says it is working correctly. I've looked at the regedit and it does not have any of upper and lower filters. I've tried disabling, rebooting, and reenabling. What am I missing? Another issue I've had since upgrading is that my network adapter needs reset several times a day in order to remain connected to wifi.

I suggest following the steps in this document for Drive Cannot Read Discs (Windows 8).
If your CD/DVD Drive Is Not Detected (Windows 8), follow the steps in this document.

T410 Windows 7 Upgrade - from Win 7 Pro 32 to Win 7 Ultimate 64.

I purchased a T410 with Win 7 Pro 32 and am looking for the option to upgrade it to Win 7 Ultimate 64.
The shop in the country (Singapore) do not provide such option/customization.
Called tech support in the country without getting much info (they said they only support hardware).
Tried Lenovo shop in the country and they will only help to upgrade to Pro 64 with a charge, however without any recovery media (OS and drivers). I need Ultimate 64.
Browsed Lenovo site and couldn't find anything relevant.
Hope someone will give me the direction to upgrade from Win 7 Pro 32 to Win 7 Ultimate 64 (with all drivers).

However if I upgrade can I revert back to Win 7, if something does not resolve or some of the devices

yes, you can deactivate (help>deactivate) and uninstall.
you do/did not even need to have pse 9 installed before installing your ps12 upgrade. if it's not installed you will be prompted for the pse 9 serial number.

The "teacher/student version" is a special offer for a full version purchase. The software is in fact identical to the regular full version being sold. Once you have purchased the license key it is fully functional and allows you to upgrade at the normal upgrade price.
If you still qualify for the "teacher/student version" you can purchase another full license for LR 5 at the discounted price which is the same as the upgrade price.

Click on your CC icon.
Click on the gear icon.
Click on Preferences.
Sign out of CC.
Sign back in.
Don't click on "Quit."
I had been QUITTING CC and relaunching. Try signing out.

Installing a Mac version of PS that was upgraded from a Win version

I don't seem to be able to get through to Adobe today on the phone at all, so would like to try here with this question. I just got my first Mac last week after 20 years plus on the PC. I've been upgrading my Photoshop for WINDOWS since v.4.0 (current version I have is CS4 for Win), and could upgrade to CS5 for Mac, which is about $500 less than buying a new (Mac) version outright. My concern/question is this, that after inserting the upgrade DVD, the install program will ask me to insert the "qualifying" CD/DVD which in my case will be a Windows PS install DVD. I do not have Windows and/or Parallels, so would the Mac be able to read/recongnize the qualifying Win Photoshop program to complete the Mac installation?

I don't know if Adobe still does cross-grades, but when I switched from Windows to Mac years ago, I was allowed to purchase full Mac versions at the upgrade price. Since the Mac software wasn't an upgrade box, it needed no previous disk or serial number to install it. Better yet, I was also allowed to keep using my Windows versions if I wanted to.
You do have to do this directly through Adobe so they can verify your legal purchases of the Windows software you're doing a cross-grade from.

Procedures to re-install Creative Cloud apps after from Win 7 to Win 8 Upgrade

I'm planning to upgrade my PC to from Win 7 64 bit to Win 8 64 bit. I currently have Creative Cloud apps installed on the Win 7 PC. I will have to reinstall all apps after the upgrade to Win 8. Before doing the upgrade, should I deactivate all Creative Cloud apps under Win 7 or will the software recognize that I'm on the same PC when I go to re-install my apps? So, same physical PC, but different operating systems.

When you install the operating system that you are licensed for, the installer will not require you to manually input a 25 character activation license key.
Any HP notebook manufactured from 2011 has been using the SLP method. That is why you don't see a Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity with the 25 character activation license key anywhere on the notebook.

BIAS SoundSaver Input Level Not Working after upgrade from Win 8 to 8.1

Have been using BIAS SoundSaver for INport software to digitize music LPs and cassette tapes to load on MP3 player. Worked fine with Windows 8. However, now that I have upgraded to Win 8.1, I can get sound of LPs and cassette tapes but the Input Level that controls the recording level on the software no longer functions. My computer is an HP ENVY Phoenix h9-1355 Desktop Computer with IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. I am wondering if the problem may be with the audio drivers installed on the computer.

I see that you are having sound issues after your 8.1 upgrade. Did you update to the 8.1 versions of the drivers?

Install Failed - trying to upgrade from 10.4.11 to 10.5

I have a MacBook "Core Duo" 1.83 13" running OS 10.4.11 that I need to upgrade to OS 10.5 in order to be able to sync my iPhone iOS 5.1.1 because it needs iTunes 10. I have the OS 10.5 install CD and everything appears fine when I start the install but nearing the completion of the install I get a screen that comes up saying "Install Failed" "Mac OS X count not be installed on your computer" "The installer encountered an unknown error that failed to install. Contact the software manufacture for assistance." Then it gives you only the option to restart. I proceeded to have it restart but it launched from the CD again. I went into the Startup Disk to try and select my Macintosh HD rather then the Install CD but could not see it. I then proceeded to the Disk Utility to see if I could check the Macintosh HD there and I could not select it. I told the computer to restart again, knowing that it would load the install disc again because I didn't have the option of the HD. This time the HD appeared in the Disk Utility but not in the Startup Disk, so I proceeded to run Verify Disk Permissions which came up normal. I then launched the Startup Disk again and the HD appeared so I could get the full use of the computer back. So I don't know what to do now. I have not tried installing OS 10.5 again but do want and need to upgrade so I can sync my iPhone with my computer which I have never been able to do yet.

Was able to work on the computer this weekend, started by clearing out some space on the HD as you had recommended BDAqua. Freed up 31 GB of space but was at the point where I didn't know what else I could delete, moved iPhoto and iTunes libraries along with the whole documents folder off the computer, even ran OnyX to clear out cache, log files etc.
Restarted the computer booting from the install DVD, then ran disk repair. Everything came back okay so proceeded with the update installation. Checking installation DVD took a while but started the installation okay. The installation its self took about an hour plus but did not fail at the end so that's a great.
Did the update I wanted to iTunes 10.5 then 10.6 so that I can sync the iPhone to the computer now. The computer does appear a little draggy at times even though I have 512MB of RAM, which I know is not a lot any more. Is there anything else I can remove or clean up that was installed by this update that is not needed or can't run on this machine, in hopes of making it a little smoother.

Do I need to re-install Adobe software when upgrading from XP 32-bit to XP 64-bit?

I have CS5 applications, and older Premiere/related (Audition2) software. I'm thinking for the CS5 applications, since they use 64-bit, I may need to re-install them after upgrading OS and RAM. Is this what I should do and is there a process I should follow?

XP64 is long dead. What you are trying to do is utterly pointless, especailly since neither After Effects, Premiere Pro nor the 64bit version of Adobe Media encoder will run. Likewise, Photoshop 64bit will not/ may not be able to use hardware acceleration. Upgrade to Win 64 and get CS6/ Creative Cloud or just leave things as they are now. Everything else is a waste of time and money.

Java version 7 update 9 update was installed, Computer Mac version 10.7.5 will not recognise the download. Please advise . Is there another link for a download that will work.

I downloaded the Java update version 7 update 9 as advised by computer - but the computer does not recognize the download - as instructed I pressed Command R and also tried Command Q
I downloaded the update twice - still the computer does not recognise the download.
In my serarch on the web there seems to be issues in this download.
I think there is an new patch , Not sure where to find this that is relevant to my computer.
Be grateful if someone could send me a link and instructions on the relevant choice for my computer.
Also Do I need to uninstall old Java downloads. if yes Please advisee how I should do this.

I have downloaded the latest Java (JRE) and Java is checked enabled as well as JavaScipt and Web plug-ins are enabled.
I thought I would download once again from your link - MacOSX jre7u6 Macosx-x64 dmg.
On opening the package to install was advised that a higher version of the JRE is already installed on the system.
Still unable to open my Labs software as the advice is still to download the latest Java.
Checking the net again found another Java option for Mac Lion - so I downloaded and installed the version OS X2012 -006.
Still no joy, as my photo Lab software keeps givng me the same message that i to open " RGB Digital Direct" I need to download the Java Runtime Environment for Web Start Application.
I then went back into Java Website and it gave an option to detect whether I have the correct Java Software - report came back - Verified Java Version - " Congratulations You have the recommended Java installed ( Version 7 Update 9)"

so i upgraded my hp 1129n (oldschool li know) from win xp to 7, The install went smoothly except for the audio. Went into device manager and there is a question mark on other devices > multimedia audio controller.
I have searched everywhere for the driver update but its no where to be found, not on hp's site or i cant find it on the web. I have attempted to run windows vista sp37322 but no luck. i have changed the compatibilty to windows vista sp 2 and windows xp sp 2 and 3 and ran as administrator to see if i could get something but it still wont let me telling me error

Can't install XCelsius Engade 2008 (upgrade from Pro 4.5) with Office XP

Dear Support,
I have purchased XCelsius Engade 2008, upgrade from Pro 4.5.
Our corporate standard is still MS Office XP on Windows XP and it won't be updated in a near future.
I can not install the product since it tells me that Office suit should be "pre-installed" first. And it is actually installed already.
I have tested the trial version before - and it was fine. It is written on the CD box that system requirements includes Office XP but it does not work. Please help ASAP!!!
And just for the information:
Trial version build no: BuildVersion=12.1.0.247 (seems to work)
Version on CD which I have purchased: BuildVersion=12.0.0.121 (refuses to install)

Hi Andrey,
you don't need to uninstall Xcelsius 4.5 - it's a separate product and you can install it back. I have both Xcelsius 4.5 and Xcelsius 2008 on the same machine. I am not sure why it does not recognize the Office on your machine, may be you need to upgrade your Office to a later version, I hope somebody else will have more information.
