Installing a New CPU Cooler

Is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan compatible with the Dell XPS 435 desktop mother board.

If it has a four-pin connector like the XPS 8500, it should accept a standard cooling solution.
I installed a Cooler Master Vortex in my XPS 8500. It has worked very well.

  • IOH temps higher after new CPU cooler on my X58 Pro

    Hi
I have a X58 Pro with 12GB OCZ Platinum 1333 RAM + i7 920 + Antec EA500W. The stock cooler was making too much noise so I installed a new Thermaltake ISG 300 cooler. My IOH temps jumped from 57 to 82C on idle. I have an Antec Solo case which should have good airflow. Nothing else changed ....
    thanks
    -D

I have seen other boards with similar big coolers (albeit from other companies like Zalman) but the IOH wasnt this hot. I will definitely try the Spotcool and see if that works. My goal was to simply get rid of the loud noise of the stock cooler.

Looking at other manufacturers X58 boards those heat sinks don't appear to be much different so how is it that MSI is the only one you need to feel that way. You make a modification then you need to think about the other things that mod may have an effect on. There are other coolers that would have done the job without affecting designed airflow by much if any. If you change the designed airflow characteristics then you must compensate for that. In that case an Antec Spotcool would do it.

  • Installing Jet 7 CPU Cooler on MS 6590

    Hi Guys,
I have just bought a Coolermaster JET 7 CPU cooler to go with my AMD XP 2600+. I have an MSI MS-6590 motherboard. I have installed other heatsinks but this type has power connectors as well as the usuall fan connector. I would be grateful if anyone could give any advice on installation of this heatsink especially with the power connectors. I have an ANTEC 550w PSU and have managed to find a 'FAN ONLY' power connector, but I am not sure if this is the correct one for the heatsink.
    Any help/advice appreciated.
    Richard.

use a normal connector for it not the fan only
as the psu can turn them of if it thinks its cool
there is usually a seperate wire with a 3 pin plug like you had before, this allows the detection of the cpu fan

  • Error with new CPU cooler

Hello, I just put a Vantec Aeroflow AMD into my MSI K7T 266 pro2-u mboard and upno startup I get an error relating to unabling to detect CPU spinning. However it is spinning and temp was 34C. I have noticed that the three colours of wires are "yello, black and red" whereas on defauly CPU cooler it was  " Blue, Black red." Is it just a case of incompatibility as I now have disabled CPU fan detection. Thanks.

Had the same problem with same m/b and cooler. Long story short, purchased a seperate T.M.D fan rated at 5600rpm part no PD1270155B-2F and fitted to cooler and bios detected it at 5600rpm. The 5600 rpm fan was slightly noiser than the fan fitted to the vantec cooler I bought and it was gold coloured not silver. Whats also strange was cpu temp dropped from 41C to 37.5C. This raises a question that maybe the coolers are packaged with 4300rpm fans instead of 5600rpm ,the specs say 5600rpm fan but who knows. Have bought 3 vantec coolers and all three have no fan detection. Bought 3 5600rpm fans and all have fan detection. Hand held tacho rated the silver ones about 4250rpm and the gold ones at 5560rpm. Figure this one out ?(

  • Is it possible to install a new cpu for a Satellite C50D-A?

    [Computer Specs|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/c50/pscfwa-03j00k/specifications]
I am looking to see if anyone can help me find out if it's possible to change the cpu in my laptop, and what the limitations there might be for the new cpu, I would really appreciate any help. Also if you know a place that can help me with my situation it would really help, preferably in Sydney.

I know it sounds stupid now but why do you want to do this?
As you probably know CPU upgrade is not supported by Toshiba and hardware upgrade is very limited on mobile machines.
Only supported hardware upgrade is RAM and HDD upgrade. These steps can be done without some risk and you can do this on your own.

do they fit?, which one cools the best?
any one knows a better cooler that isn't more than 140mm high(motherboard to panel) and fits on this motherboard?

aaron that is an overkill for q6600
You really want to underkill?   If you're dishing out for cooling; it may as well be the best.  Many times have I kept purchasing coolers trying to get better performance, when I should of spent more money the first time and had the best performance in the first place.

  • CPU Cooler Warning

I'm just putting together a box with KT4AV.  As soon as I power up all diagnostic LED's report OK, but within a couple of seconds as soon as I get a display, it tells me the CPU Fan is not working, which it is, then the machine powers down with the two tone warning beep.
I've tried resetting CMOS with battery in and out.
Any ideas why it might not be detecting CPU Fan?

If its not the cooler and hsf, are you sure its not the processor itself?
Otherwise I'd say yeah its probably a faulty board. I know that feeling Lately every board ive gotten (and no joke either) has actually been faulty, sans this kt4av i'm waiting to actually test and see.  I think I am going to snag a new cpu cooler since I cant stand the big hunk of copper I got.  I feel like im going to crush a processor every time I stick it on.  That and the fan doesnt fit right so I need a new one.  Best of luck on this whole scenario.  When you take the board back and swap it for another, try taking your proc and hsf and a stick of mem with you, and have them test it there to make sure its all working That way if you get home and something doesnt work you can possibly rule out grounding issues or the psu, even though it doesnt seem your psu is the issue

  • Question about Northbridge of P965 Platinum (Holes or springs for new NB cooler)

If anybody know if the Northbridge on the P965 Platinum have holes or spring for the heatsink.
I want to install a new NB cooler. So i was wondering if the NB was mounted with screws or springs.
It would be nice if i did´nt had to take out the hole board again. That means if i could use the spring
My new cooler have both systems. Its just a matter of what i can use with the board.
    Thx

    Hi Maesus
Here is the 2 NB coolers i have.
Either the Extreme Spirit II from Thermaltake or the NorthQ NQ-3880
    http://www.northq.com/products/gfx/nq3880.html
    http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Cooler/VGAnCHIPnMEM/cl-c0034/cl-c0034.asp
They both have installing system for either Holes or Springs (Anchor clips). But it would be easyst with springs
because then i dont have to take out the MOBO to install the back plate.
But i cant see it right on the picture you gave if it have holes trough the MOBO or just springs
    Thx buddy

  • New Install..Higher CPU temps??

Just installed a new 80g Hard Drive.. Had to do a fresh install :-).. as it was mentioned here.. gohsting was "iffy"
    You guys were absolutely Right.
So: New Drive Fresh XP pro install (Kt3 U2 Board, XP tbrd Cpu.. no overclock anything))
Previous harddrive setup read 35 to 37 C onna PC alert pop up.. New install reads 43 to 46 onna Cpu...Case readout has only gone up maybe 1c.. WHY??
there have been NO other changes except the new WD80JBand a fresh XP install drive. Case was and is Wide open, as in NO sides.
Should I be concerned about this
    Help?

    I have the current setup to get good cooling;
2 x IBM drives with adapters in 5.25" bays, with a "nose fan" taking in air blowing it over the harddrives to keep them cool and take in air into the case.
1 x rear case fan that blows out of the case.
1 x Thermal Take Silent Viking II too cool the CPU, and modded case with holes so that the rather high ducting mod and fan (which makes contact with case side) can take in air from outside the case.
1 Topower 430W PSU with dual fans that exhaust from the case.
    This gives me the following temps;
    CPU: Idle 43C Load 49C
    Chipset: 34
    Harddrives: 29 and 28C
    Ambient temperature: 26C

  • Installing new CPU

    Hi,
I recently bought a new cpu (Pentium 4 2.40A 533FSB 1-MB L2 Cache) and I am trying to swap out my old cpu (Pentium 4 2.26 533 FSB 512-KB L2 Cache). The motherboard I am using is the MSI 845E Max-6566E. When I booted up the first time with my new processor nothing happened and the four LEDs were all red. I have tested this processor in a newer MSI motherboard and it worked fine. I've updated my chipset drivers and the bios but still have problems. I'm wondering if they're is either something I must change in the bios or there is a compatibility issue with the processor. I've been unable to find much about the different Pentiums and how to tell a Prescott from a Northwood Pentium based on the MSI compatibility chart. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You

you cannot install precscot cpu on a 845E Max.............
    Supportlist :

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=prescott
You probably have to change the processor to max 3.06/533/512 model with that board or change to another motherboard that support P4/800/512 Northwood cpu  and Prescott. I would personally choosen Northwood.

  • Installing new CPU (Update)

To those of you that were helping me try to repair an apparent botched installation of a new XP 2400+ porcessor on the system below. I purchased 2 new PSU (450w) for 2 different boxes that run XP. I tried the new processor in both boxes, and in both circumstances got nothing, but it at least powered up (not boot-up). In the machine listed below there was no signal being transferred to monitor, but on the other machine (with old processor) I was getting a signal, but have hard drive issues now (bad os). I guess what I am tryign to say is this almost seems as if I have purchased a bad CPU.    Any thoughts????
    Thanks again,

  • Aftermarket CPU cooler to fit P6N Diamond and my new build

Hi, after my motherboard finally quit a couple weeks ago, I am starting to build my new system.  I just purchased a P6N Diamond motherboard and I'll be picking up an E6700 Core 2 Duo and I already know that I am going to overclock slightly.
With the heat pipes this board has, I'm wondering if and if so, what aftermarket CPU cooler will fit on this board.  I'm not going for a major overclock, but I would like to see 3GHz per core or slightly higher.
Also, Does anyone know what speed of RAM I should get to bump this processor up to 3GHz?  On my last setup, I used DDR 434 and ran it at speed to get the processor up from 3.0C to 3.24GHz and 3.4E to 3.67GHz (upgraded at one point).  I am still not sure on what RAM I should use yet for compatibility issues, but I guess I need to figure out the speed first.
I also just ordered my video card today as well.  I went with a EVGA eGeforce 8800GTX Superclocked card.  Later on down the road when the price comes down, I'll pick up another to run SLI.  From what I read on MSI's website, SLI (with the P6N Plat) doesn't support SLI in Vista... Is this true with the board, or will it be a driver/BIOS issue that can be fixed later?
The computer this is replacing is my HTPC.  I used and will again use this thing for just about everything.  I regularly watch movies, record/watch TV, listen to music, play games, etc.  I have it hooked up to a 40" flat panel LCD HDTV and have loved running and HTPC since I bought the TV in December.  Hopefully this next system lives up to what I'm hoping it will be.

The GeminII cooler may not fit. But the Tuniq is also too heavy IMO.
I would pick this; it has good clearance and is one of the best coolers on the market. Except for this obviously.
But it's all down to personal preference.
I really like the Thermalright SI-128 SE that you recommended.  My last Thermalright was able to cool my 3.4E @ 3.7GHz processor down when my old Zalman could not.  Do you know if this will fit?  I'm not sure the larger Thermalright will fit in my case...
Another option I was thinking about is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019
