Installing a PCMCIA-GPIB card on an IBM A22m laptop with NT2000 and I get an "Unknown Hardware Error"

I am trying to install the NI PCMCIA-GPIB card on an IBM A22m NT2000 laptop. The GPIB V1.7 driver installs properly and recognizes the interface but fails to locate instruments.
The troubleshooter Wizard reports an unknown hardware error that may be due to a resource conflict or configuration error. I checked for hardware conflicts and found none and found no errors in the event viewer.
The Laptop was originally installed with WIN98 and the PCMCIA card worked fine then. After installing NT2000 I uninstalled the GPIB driver and reinstalled it. The card also works properly on another laptop with Win95.

If you have installed a new hard drive , you will need to have formatted it in Disk Utility correctly. This may explain your problem.
Boot into your 10.6 Install disk again at the top menubar > Utilities > select Disk utility and in there select your new hard drive, and select the tab Erase and choose to make the format as Mac OS Extended Journaled. When that is finished look in the main window to make sure that the partition map scheme says GUID Partition Table.
Now go to the Restore tab and reinstall from your backup.

The latest version of iTunes tends to act up occassionaly. See this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 and remove and reinstall iTunes. This will not affect your music library, apps or other content in iTunes. Make sure you follow the steps exactly.
Also, just copying the ringtone will not get it into your phone. iPhone ringtones have an extension of m4r, and you have to first take the Media player file and covert it to an AAC version. From there you need to change the extension from m4a to m4r. If you cannot see file extensions in Windows Explorer, which is actually the default action, go into Organize>Folder and search options, then hit the View tab, and then remove the checkmark by hide file extensions from known file types. After you have created the m4a version and changed the file extension, you can double-click on it and it should show up in the Tones folder in iTunes. From there, sync the phone and it should show up in the list of ringtones.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Installing software and keep getting admin level access error -

I'm trying to install some software on my mac and I get the prompt for network admin passowrd ao I log in and I get an error that says I need admin prioveledges or higher. I go to system prefs and that account has admin rights. I created a new acount with admin rights - and I get the same message. any ideas?

Might you have a different password for your initial login screen as admin and your Network?
Look in keychain, and find all your various passwords.

BTW, I found it interesting that my serial number did NOT work in the downloaded version, so I selected the trial, which resulted in the same error message: Your installation encountered errors, Please try restarting your system and installing again. Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again. I am open to other trouble-shooting ideas!

[SOLVED] Installed Arch on IBM A22m laptop, startx fails

I installed arch on this old laptop IBM A22m and I am trying to get XFCE4 or LXDE working on it.
When i start xfce4 i get "server terminated with error(1)" and same thing with lxde but this time i get to see panel and wallpaper for 2 seconds before it crashes.
I tried exec openbox-session and it wont crash until I open browser from terminal.

You can quickly see if there is a problem in reporting the AirPort card by going to the apple in the upper left corner, About This Mac, More Info, System report and look at the information on Hardware and the AirPort report...make sure it is not indicating a fault.
If all looks ok, try removing the network information and reentering it and see if the AirPort responds.
