Installing ACR 7.4

How and where do I install Camer RAW 7.4 into my CS 5.1?

You don't, you can't. ACR 7.4 is only for Photoshop CS6. You'll either need to upgrade or download the free DNG Converter to convert new cameras' raw files for ACR 6.7 (the last ACR version for 5.x).

Not so, Mylenium. It's relatively quick to downgrade Camera Raw with a download and a bit of fiddling. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1143545

  • Problem Installing ACR 6.7rc1

I tried to install ACR 6.7 rc1 on my Win7-64 bit system, and the first error I got was the installer told me that "Adobe Application manager is needed to update your product" It is either missing or damaged,- download a ne copy of Adobe Application manager or reinstall the product.
I downloaded the Application manager, and when I ran that, it failed as I got another error message "Installer failed to initialize" Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.
So, I downloaded Adobe Support Advisor, and ran it and it told me it could find no problems, contact Adobe support for help, and to create a support package with a unique token number (00-74372-144712032012) to open a support case with Adobe.
I called Adobe technical support, and after talking to 3 individuals, and 2 hang ups with no return calls (they asked for my home number - why??), finally got someone who told me since it's a release candidate, Adobe support cannot help me, I need to post the issue on Adobe forums so it can be factored into the feedback from the community before Adobe officially releases it.
After searching the forums, am I the only one with this install problem??
    Hank

Hank, all I can say is that it's a bit hard to read your post through the tears of laughter given the username you chose.
For what it's worth, I didn't have any problem installing the 6.7 RC.  You might try running the installer As Administrator, but I don't have a huge amount of hope for that.
The actual plug-in .8bi files are in the package, but they don't have their final names...  If you want to get down and dirty with the files you can dig into the download zip file, and you'll find two embedded zip files called Assets2_1.zip.  Each of these is in a subfolder that will tell you whether it's the 32 or 64 bit version, and they contain the actual plug-ins (one for 64 bit, one for 32 bit).
On a 64 bit Windows system:
    The file named 1002 that's 24,400 KB becomes the 64 bit plug-in:  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi
    The file named 1003 that's 21,277 KB becomes the 32 bit plug-in:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi

  • Can't install ACR updates in Windows 7

When I try to install downloaded updates, I get a message that the installer "... has encountered a problem. Close Adobe Bridge before continuing installation." Except that Bridge is not running, and I have no clue about why it thinks it is. Other updates have the same problem (Adobe Reader) but some have installed. Does anyone know what's happening here?
There are other issues, such as the straighten tool in ACR will not draw a line and will crash Photoshop.
    Windows 7 HomePremium 64-bit and Photoshop CS4 64-bit.

    Hi,
Could you post the contents of your AIR installer log?  It's possible, depending on the error we received, we might also need the MSI log.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Photoshop CS6 won´t recognize ACR after installing ACR 8.4 beta.

    Hi all,
just today Adobe has relaeased the new ACR 8.4 beta. As usual I downloaded it, installed it to my Photoshop CS6 (running on a 2010 iMac/ OS is 10.6.8), and to my surprise PS no longer was able to find ACR at all. In other words: I could no longer open any RAW file.
I cranked up time machine, replaced the PS folders with those stored via time machine from a few days ago, restarted the computer and tried again, but the result is the same: PS seems unable to find Camera RAW.
Does anybody have an idea where the problem might lie? Any help is appreciated!

    Hi there,
    Very sorry for the inconvenience.
Camera Raw 8.4 is no longer supported on OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). We first announced this back when Camera Raw 8.3 was released, here:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/12/camera-8-3-for-photoshop-cc-and-photoshop- cs6-available-now.html
This notice was also posted at the top of the 8.4 RC download page on Labs, here:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw8-4/
You can either upgrade your OS to OS X 10.7 or higher or uninstall ACR 8.4 and reinstall 8.3.

  • Unable in install ACR 5.5?

I have a Windows Vista 64 Bit system.  I have now downloaded the ACR 5.5 Beta Zip file at least a dozen times.  Each and every time I unzip it, when it gets to the end of the unzip, I get a window telling me that there are 4 files that could not be opened....errors.  So I tried several different unzip programs - all to no avail - the same message.  So then I tried double clicking on the unzipped setup exe icon, but all I get is a window that says that Adobe ACR 5.5 was unable to install, and I have to hit the "quit" button.
What gives?  I've successfully been able to install previous versions with no problems.  The DNG converter installed just right.
Is the downloaded for ACR 5.5 corrupt?  I'm currently only running Elements 7.0 on my system because I could not get CS-4 to load at all on my system (a known issue), so until CS-5 comes out, I'm stuck using Elements 7.0.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated - or perhaps a link to another site where I may be able to download a non-corrupt file.
    Thanks...
    Ben Herrmann

I'll post on here as my install is similarly troublesome on Vista 64bit.
I am using Lightroom and CS4.
Lightroom said an upgrade to 2.5 was available and I installed it.
When I then went to open a Canon CR2 RAW file from Lightroom, Lightroom said that the Camera RAW needed to be updated in Photoshop.
From Photoshop I went to check for updates, it found 5.5 RAW and started to install (on Vista 64bit Business Edition). It warned about PS and Bridge being open so I closed them. Install failed.
"Photoshop Camera Raw (64 bit) 5.5, Photoshop Camera Raw 5.5: Failed to install" it then said "Installation incomplete" and "The updating process is finished".
I tried it again after a re-boot and hit the same problem (on an aside, probably just a typo but you never know... it said it was updating 5.4 at one point and 5.5 at another point in the same automated update)
Instead I went to the website, downloaded 5.5 and unzipped the folder.
The readme (http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_5.5_ReadMe.pdf) tells one to copy Camera Raw.8bi into a particular spot but that file does not exist in the zip. Instead there is a setup.exe and a DLL and two subdirectories of resources and extensions (neither of which has the Camera Raw.8bi file inside)
    Camera_Raw_5_5_updater\InstallerResults.dll
    Camera_Raw_5_5_updater\Setup.exe
    Camera_Raw_5_5_updater\extensions
    Camera_Raw_5_5_updater\resources
In vain I tried to run the setup.exe which tried to install 5.5 and then failed in a similar way to the automated system.
Best I can see the 5.5 update is broken for Vista 64bit for either an automated or manual install unless someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

What version of QuickTime for Windows is installed?
I believe QT 5 or greater is needed although the download specs call for QT 4.1.2 or greater.
Another possibility is QT may need to be reinstalled.

  • Unable to install ACR presets in to Camera Raw

I have followed this path to install on mac/ mavericks. There is not a settings folder to paste in to. Library\ApplicationSupport\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings

    Solved!
By some fluke I was googling the Adobe Application Manager and I came across a method for administrators to disable auto updates. Low and behold I discovered that a file had been created
    C:\Program files(x86)\common files\adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
that did indeed disable auto updates. As soon as I deleted the file Bridge found updates immediately and installed them.
I have no idea how that file was created as administrators have to do it manually and I have never done that.
    Anyway problem solved.
Thanks to everyone for their help

  • Problem Installing ACR 5.7 Update

I have all programs closed when I try to install the Camera Raw 5.7 Update so I can edit photos in Photoshop CS4 from Lightroom 2.7.  Every time I try to install, an "Installation Incomplete" window pops up saying "Please close the following application and retry to continue installing update: ADOBE BRIDGE."  I have cleared the cache in Bridge, but I can't get this to install.

You probably have Bridge set to start up automatically at login.  Check the Advanced section of Bridge Preferences.

  • Can't install ACR presets on my Mac?

I downloaded some presets for Camera Raw here: http://www.ewcouture.com/news-musings/2010/9/13/wynona-robisons-awesome-free-adobe-camera- raw-settings.html
I can't find the path on my Mac to install them to! I get as far as Library/Application Support/Adobe, then have 2 folders: CameraRaw and Camera Raw 7... when I click on either of these, there is no 'Settings' folder in either.
Camera Raw 7 has an 'AMT' folder
CameraRaw has Adobe/AdobePatchFiles or CameraProfiles or LensProfiles folders
    I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
    Any ideas? Thanks so much!

I used the instructions I found here: http://www.macworld.com/article/1161156/view_library_folder_in_lion.html
I ended up putting a shortcut to the library folder in my finder-window toolbar (instructions about halfway through his article). Worked great...!
    Hope that helps you!

  • Cannot install ACR 4.5

I have just purchased and installed CS3. After installing I checked for updates and there were quite a few of them. I downloaded and installed them, all but Adobe Camera Raw 4.5 update. I can download this file, but it will not install, no matter how I try to do it, either from the CS3 program or from the Adobe site. I am running XP Pro.
I am really interested in getting this installed as I want to work with RAW photos.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you. I have "unzipped" the file, but I didn't take note of where I was supposed to put it. I have found where I think it is supposed to go, but not sure. The CS3 folder is in the Adobe folder, but there are other folders within the CS3 folder, as well as other files, do I put this file (Camera Raw.8bi) in as a file, or does it go into one of the folders?
Thank you again for your help.
