Installing Acrobat 8 in Windows 7

Attempting to install Acrobat 8 fr dnloaded files to Windows 7 but keep getting error - "A problem occured while extracting some files. Please check available space on your computer and the write priveleges on the desitnation folder." Attempted to adjust desintation folder but did not result in success. What should I do?

Hi daniel campo ,
Acrobat 8 is not tested on Windows 7. However, you can download the  the Acrobat 8 directly from Download Acrobat products | 9, 8 and can further test the behavior.
Also, i would suggest to use a new admin account(just in case).
Thanks,

After installing Acrobat/Reader on Windows 7 or Vista, icons of all applications/file-types change to Acrobat/Reader icon and double clicking on any icon/file launches Acrobat/Reader (instead of the native application associated to the file type). Is there an easy fix for this problem?

I'm sorry, but I wasn't aware of a native PDF viewer for Windows.
Nonetheless, if you want to change your default PDF application in Windows, you need to right click on any .PDF file, select "Properties",
    then "Change",
then select the program you want to open a PDF with.

  • Can I install Acrobat in a Windows Server 2008 for many users?

I'm looking for a solution for my enterprise to install Adobe Acrobat in Windows Server 2008 R2, where the users connect by remote desktop. I'm looking for a form for they use Acrobat by the same form they uses now Reader. But not for all, only for some of this users.
I called a responsible and he told me that I can install Acrobat for some users in Windows Server 2008 R2, but I'm not sure if that solution will be legal.
Can I buy a special license for it or I have to buy a license for each user? How can I proceed to do this, if it's possible?
Thanks in advance for you attention!

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes
    <pre><nowiki>lockPref("app.update.enabled", false);</nowiki></pre>

  • Install acrobat xi on windows xp

Having a problem where I am trying to install fro ma disc the Acrobat XI Pro. Says upon installing that I need internet explorer 7+, but XP does not support. Tech specs says Chrome and Firefox extended would work, but i do not see how to make Acrobat sense the others to install. I have Windows XP SP3 with Core2Duo 2.66Ghz, 2GB RAM.

ACR Quality Engineering you can certainly upgrading Windows XP's Internet Explorer web browser.  If you are facing difficulties installing Chrome or Firefox then I would recommend contacting their support communities with the specific errors you are experiencing.

  • Issues installing Acrobat XI with Windows 7 64 bit

Trying to install acrobat reader on a new computer build with Windows 7 64 bit.
The installer file downloads OK and executes OK, but as it start to install I get a blank, small, dark grey window "Adobe Reader Installer"  Completely blank except for the border and title, no buttons, no words.
I've tried saving and running the installer with the same results.  Tried running Microsoft fixit with the same results.
    What next?

The same question is posted multiple times every day, and the answer is always the same: use the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
B.t.w. the name of the software is Adobe Reader, not Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.

  • CS3 install will not install Acrobat 8 in windows 8.1 (iMac OS X running parallels 10)

    Hi folks,
I've been merrily and happily running CS3 in XP on a windows virtual machine using parallels 10 on my iMac, until XP gave up the ghost.  I deleted the VM and built a new one with windows 8.1 installed.  When I run CS3 install, the install fails to install Acrobat simply citing an installation error in the install window (no further detail provided).  I am able to install Acrobat by delving into the CD sub-folders and running the setup application, but I end up with an instance of Acrobat that does not recognise my CS3 serial number......
    Any suggestions

um, how do i do that?  I can only find a compatibility option which lists currently installed applications to make them work better, not an option to make windows 8.1 into xp compatibility mode to actually do an install?

  • Encountered error while installing Acrobat XI on Windows 8

During installation of Adobe Acrobat XI for Windows 8, I received an error message indicating there was an error with my PC, the error was being transmitted to Adobe, and that my computer would restart. The screen went blank and did not restart automatically. When I started the computer, I noticed there was a shortcut on the desktop for Adobe Standard but nothing happened when I clicked on the icon. I suppose there was just a partial installation. I then tried to continue with the Adobe installation and received a Windows installer error: "Error applying transforms. Verify the specified transforms are valid. " I then tried to go into Control Panel and uninstall Adobe XI. I received the same Windows installer error. Not sure what to do at this point.

Please try running the cleaner tool at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html to remove the partial installation of Acrobat.

  • After successfully installing Acrobat 7 in Windows 8.1 it fails to launch.

I had  Acrobat 6.0 Professional, running in Windows XP.  After moving to Windows 8.1 I tried to install from the original disk.  Windows warned me that it had problems, and couldn't start the program, suggesting that I contact Acrobat, which I did.  After a chat with Acrobat, I got a download of Acrobat 7, replacing 6 with the new serial number. I installed 7.  The installation was successful and an icon was placed on my desktop.  Clicking on theicon, doesn't launch the program.

    Hi George ,
Acrobat 7 is not supported on Windows 8/8.1
Hence, We would recommend you to update your Acrobat version.i.e Acrobat 11.0.10.

  • Can't install acrobat 8pro on windows 7 Professional

I am trying to install my old version of acrobat 8 to my new laptop which is windows 7 professional.
I get an install message that it is looking for "Adobepdf.dll for Vista".
What I can do to fix this? Thank you in advance!

All Adobe support for Acrobat 8 ended back in Nov 2011, about 5 years after that version was originally released (Nov 2006), and I'm not sure it ever was advertised that it was supported on anything later than Vista. Windows 7 didn't come along until late 2009, in the waning days of Acrobat 9.
Given the security concerns of older versions, I would strongly recommend upgrading to a more modern version. Acrobat X and later significantly changed the security model, and given the malware out in the wild that actively exploits older versions of Acrobat, I would seriously avoid unsupported versions.

  • Data1.cab file not extracted when installing Acrobat X on windows under VMWare Fusion 4.0

When extracting the files to the installation folder, the Data1.cab file is created but it is o kb value. Then when running the setup file, there is an error generated because the setup cannot see a valid data1.cab file

    Manish_1988,
Thanks for the suggestion but after trying all of the suggestions, I still
    did not have any success.
I ended up extracting the install files while I was in Oracle Virtual Box
then used the install files when I was in VMWare Fusion. A bit convoluted
    but it worked.
    Again, thanks anyway.
