Installing Acrobat 9 on a new computer

I have the disk with serial number for acrobat 9 standard (presently installed on my old computer).  After installing on the new computer, it says this disk is for an upgrade from Acrobat 6 (it is) and asks for the serial number for that product - which I no longer have. I am willing to buy the new Acrobat XI upgrade, but expect to have the same problem with that since 9 is not fully usable.

I need to re-install Acrobat 9 in a new computer where I found software

Try the process in the post at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1061905. If you are successful, then backup the software and put it in your archives for future use (write the SN on it). This should be done with any software you download. Companies do not generally keep old versions of software around on their sites. They generally expect you to archive it for the future or purchase a new version. That is even true for free software. So try the site and see if that does the job for you.

  • I can't install Acrobat 9 on a new computer; it says my serial number is wrong

I de-authorized my subscription from an older computer & want to set up Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on a new, windows 7 computer. I believe I downloaded the correct software, but when I go to enter the serial number it tells me I have the wrong number. Help

    Hello,
in addition to Rave's hint, you should have a look at Adobe's database, to see what's stored/saved about your accounts.
Here you will find general infos about your Adobe Account
    https://www.adobe.com/account.html and
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html
If necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html till you reach the chat and if "open" please use it, I had the best experiences. I quote from Adobe's employee Preran: The chat button is activated as soon as there is an agent available to help.
On the other hand you can have a look there: "Telephone numbers of customer service and technical support Adobe worldwide"
    >>> https://www.adobe.com/eeurope/elicensing/licensemanagement/alm/contact.html (I used Europe's link, but that makes no difference.)
    Good luck!

If this is a standard serial number you can use:

to find a download. If Techsoup provided you with a volume license download then you need to contact them as no online but a reseller has access to these versions.

I am trying to move Acrobat XI to a new computer. (Mavericks to Mavericks) Toward to end of the install when 'scripts' a being installed I get an 'Installation error" message. No number or reason just a message to contact the software manufacturer.

I am using a copy of a previous download of Acrobat XI, clicking the .dmg and then on the install package.
Originally, the Acrobat software was brought into the new computer by the Migration Assistant.
Does the install assistant need to be in the mix somewhere?

  • Error when attempting to install Acrobat XI on a new PC

I'm trying to install Acrobat XI on a new home machine (it's been installed on my laptop since last July).  During the extract process, I receive a the following error:
I'm running the install as administrator and placing the extracted files in a folder with full access.  There's lots of space on the hard drive.  The PC is running Windows 8.1 Enterprise and has the latest Microsoft patches.  Any idea why I'm getting this error or how to get around it?
    Thanks,
    JCC

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Running as administrator was one of the first things I did when the problem cropped up.  Sorry, I should have included that in my original post.
Since writing the post, I downloaded a trial copy of Acrobat and then entered my key.  Worked fine.  Here's my theory on what was wrong.
    1. I purchased this software last July and immediately installed it on my Windows 8.1 laptop.  Install worked fine.  My home computer was running Window 7 and an earlier version of Acrobat so I didn't have a reason to install my "extra" copy on that machine.
    2. Just purchased a new home PC running Windows 8.1 and I'm going through the time consuming process of moving in.  When I tried to install the latest version of Acrobat on the new PC, it yielded the described error.  Very probably, Microsoft changed something that made my original install incompatible.  Meanwhile, Adobe fixed the incompatibility so the latest install works.
Granted, this is strictly theoretical but it sure seems to fit.
    Please consider this case closed.

  • Install my subscription on a new computer

how do I install my acrobat pro on a new computer?

    1. Make sure you have the following
    (a) Serial number
    (b) Serial number of older version if it was an upgrade
    (c) Install media: original disk, or backup of it, or backup of download
    2. If it is an option in the help menu, deactivate on the old computer.
    3. Run the install, entering serial number(s) as needed.
    4. If you get the message "too many activations" you will need to contact Adobe; allow plenty of time.
