Installing Acrobat using CCP package, blank program entry

Hi all,
I am trying to install Acrobat Pro XI using a package created on CCP as Creative Cloud Admin, however whether I run the exe or msi, I get a program entry but no package or install.
The installer just drops out like it has finished with no errors.
To add...the installer falls over at the 'gathering required information' stage.
Additionally...I used CCP (same credentials, same workstation) to create a package for Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Bridge. This will run fine and install all the applications.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks

It's a known issue.  You need to install the Acrobat MSI in the Exceptions folder with a specific command line and then the Creative Cloud Packager MSI on Windows.

  • Prompted for License code when install Acrobat wit CCP

We have got Creative Cloud for teams and use CCP to make packages to distribute this software on our PC's. When I install only Adobe Acrobat this way, I am prompted for a license code or 30-day trial when I try to start the application. However, when I install Photoshop on the same machine, then start Photoshop and log on to Creative Cloud, I can use both products without any problem. How is this possible? I would very much like to install only Acrobat and no other Adobe products on some of our PC's to reduce the footprint.

    Hi C_Smaardijk,
I am assuming that you are running the AcroPro.msi within the AcrobatProfessional folder from the Exceptions folder. Please use the Exception Deployer to install Acrobat XI pro and then it wont ask you to provide any serial no. Once the installation completes then use your Adobe ID to activate the same.
You can refer to this KB article for Exception Deployer.

Please let me know if it helps.

  • How to install and use DBXML package in Ubuntu Server 8.04 64bit

    Hi all.
I used to install and use DBXML in Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 32bit. Now I want to use on Ubuntu Server 8.04 64bit.
This is code for my installation (I use DBXML 2.2.13)
    env CFLAGS="-O0" sh buildall.sh enable-java with-xerces="xerces-c-src" with-berkeleydb-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.3" with-xerces-prefix="/usr/local" with-pathan-prefix="/usr/local" with-xquery-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.XQuery.1.2" --with-dbxml-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDBXML.2.2"
After installing, I could open Container, get Document, but when print the result (by "print" command), it failed. (stdin:3: print failed, Error: nsUnmarshalNode overlap File: Nsutil.cpp Line: 2358). Of course, all above commands run successfully with Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 32bit.
Can you tell me which differences between 2 OS version and how to fix it
    Thanks

    Hello,
Make sure that you are building a 64-bit version for the 64-bit platform. It's possible that you have mismatched some libraries. Be sure to add "-b 64" to buildall.sh. When you are done run the "file" command on all of the libraries in <path-to-install>/lib to see if they have been built 64-bit.
That error looks like a 32- vs 64-bit issue of some sort.

  • Install and use fobs4jmf with own program

Hey, I've installed fobs4jmf on my machine using the instructions at http://fobs.sourceforge.net/f4jmf_first.html - adding $FOBS_HOME/fobs4jmf.jar to classpath, fobs4jmf.dll to windows/system32, and adding the stuff in jmf registry.
Both the fobs play and jmplayer seem to work fine with it, oppening a load of files it wouldn't touch before. but my own media player code and the custom gui player from http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/CustomGUI.html still won't open a load of files, including some of the ones the fobs player and jmplayer will.
I've tried replacing jmf.properties in $JMF_HOME/lib/ with the jmf.properties in $FOBS_HOME/ but it doesn't seem to change anything.
Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong? Thanks,
    Christopher

ohhkayyy... mysteriously working now. gotta love the windows "reboot fixes everything".

  • Why are there two versions of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro in my Programs

I understand the annoyance and confusing issues with CC and CC 2014 programs.  I also have read in the community of Acrobat installing twice purposely?
My question is all my CC (or CC 2013) programs installed around early Feb.  The newer CC 2014 programs updated (or installed) around late June of 2014.  I have two versions of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro listed in my programs, are they two different versions?  The one installed in Feb shows ver 11.0, the one showing installed mid August is showing as ver 11.0.08.
Can I uninstall ver 11.0? or are these both purposely installed by Adobe.  If purposely, why is Adobe making their installs and updates so confusing and VERY annoying??
    Thanks for any suggestions!

There isn't.  One is Acrobat, the application installation.  The other is Acrobat's Creative Cloud licensing installation.  Do NOT try to remove one.
This is kind of documented in the Creative Cloud's Acrobat deployment documentation:  Creative Cloud Help | Deploying Adobe Acrobat
    Uninstalling Acrobat on Windows
Once you have deployed Acrobat using the package in the Exceptions folder, you can uninstall it using the usual process for uninstalling msi packages. There are two MSI packages that are necessary to uninstall in a standalone package.  One for the main MSI package that the Creative Cloud Packager creates which is for licensing and the second MSI package which is the Acrobat Pro MSI package which is in the Exceptions folder.
Here is the command line syntax for uninstalling Acrobat:
    Syntax Example:
    msiexec.exe /x <path to Acrobat msi file> /qn
Here is the command line syntax for uninstalling the Creative Cloud Packager licensing package:
    Syntax Example:
    msiexec.exe /uninstall <path to the CCP msi file> /quiet

  • I am unable to install acrobat pro on my windows 8.1 PC.  I have disabled the fire wall and this makes no difference. The install commences, the install screen flashes up then disappears...

I have also disabled the anti virus software (ESET)...

    Hi malcolml33267653,
Where did you downloaded the installer from?
Does the installation throws any exception error or any error code?

  • Acrobat XI Pro Install via CCP Packager for Enterprise unuseable - tips for the unitiated

Well, after at least six weeks of trying to script and package Acrobat XI via the CCP packager for enterprise (Windows 7 X64) I have learnt many home truths which I thought I would share with the unitiated. This process, from the point of view of an IT admin who has to mass deploy this application to 680 PC's as part of an updated SOE has been the most painful scripting process I have ever found of any package (we successfully deploy Office, and Autodesk apps!). Not only that, but our entire State technical colleges have all purchased the same version. This will be affecting IT staff across a huge area, perhaps worldwide. Below are some some facts relating to this that I will share so others do not have to trawl the minefiled of dead-ends and confusion that is Adobe forums/official documentation. Apologies for not finding direct links to all of the below just yet but I've run out of time as we now have MANUALLY install Acrobat XI on all of these machines. When I get time I will post some of the links:
    Facts:
Acrobat XI and Lightroom are NOT "CC" packages. Therefore they rely on a spearate serial numbers to install standalone without another major Adobe product (eg Photoshop) to be installed and then run first. Otherwise they will run in trial mode. If your organistaion is wanting to install these products I highly recommend seeing if Adobe can provide you with these.
Without the use of serial number for Acrobat XI this almost renders the Customisation Wizard effectively useless, none of the silent install switch will work with "Offline Exception"
Yes, one Adobe employee notes that you must install a major package before Acrobat but as the aoplogies for not fixing this were posted last August, we are still in the quandry of not having any useable fix except for the ridiculous "Exceptions" file and Exceptions installer.
If you run the Build and/or execeptions msi's it installs Acrobat twice, gold Adobe, gold.
http://forums.adobe.com/message/6039529#6039529 - look at this for a working script for Photoshop etc, it's great. Thanks to http://forums.adobe.com/people/PetriRiihikallio for posting this. However, alas, it cannot silently install Acrobat correctly (thus far).
It appears that the msi builder for CCP for enterprise is fatally flawed. I have never had as much problem with installing msi's -  ever. For example, I have had to re-package the msi multiples times and many times simply running the msi will fail.
The idea that all major installs have to install the 32 bit version AND the 64 bit version is riduclous, enough said.
http://blogs.adobe.com/acrolaw/2013/02/acrobat-xi-deployment-guide-for-large-firms/ this guide may be useful for people who have been given a separate serial number.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/known-issues-acrobat-xi-reader.html another useful link
I think for the time being I have now wasted enough time trying to tear my hair out with this. I will be waiting for Adobe to announce Acrobat and Lightroom CC. this will enable the correct deployment of a single app without having the bloat my SOE with unnecessary applications that most staff rarely use. Ahhh, I love a good manual install via VNC/RDP, don't you?

Hi Waltpenner and others, yes it can be very confusing and writing script after script got me even more confused.
Now, the story continues, after 6+ hours on the phone with Adobe Support...
When you install Adobe Acrobat XI it asks you to install the C++ Redistributable package and this is where the msi will STOP INSTALLING. even though the MSI says "complete"
Now you think to yourself, OK, I'll write a script to install this msi package no problems, solved.
Nope, the msi for Acrobat Pro XI will Still Halt even if you write this into the script along with halt no err or something similar in your code.
    So what do you do?
When you create your msi in Cloud Packager, even though this feels completely against your better judgement tick the box under conflicting Process entitled "Ignore Conflicts and Continue installations" This will (finally) allow you to run the msi. Please see the wonderful deployment script above, which you may still need to edit to your needs (I did) - which I post once it's working perfectly.
You could then install the C++ redist from Microsoft at a later date ----> On that note however (thanks Microsoft for this gem) the Visual C++ redist is an msi for download, but it's actually a zip file calling an exe inside it. I suggest using the App Deploy Repackager  to help you change registry entries if you need to install this, but choose your favourite tool (and no I'm not talking about that work colleague you don't like
Note: You will need to install this for certain features of Acro Pro XI to function, most of which relates to sever functions of Acrobat. I will post the exact reasons when I find them. Under pressure to get this deployed, I have not deployed this pckage as yet. Also, I'm unsure how Visual C++ will affect other major apps across my enterprise just yet.
    Things to still consider
Acrobat still installs twice in the program directory (1.7GB nd 1.8GB respectively)
As all of the other CC packages are quite easy to install, Adobe needs to provide better service to it's enterprise customers by creating a proper version of Acrobat and Lightroom which is Acrobat CC and Lightroom CC, not version numbers tacked onto their new Cloud Service.
As for the above point I would still recommend creating the smallest msi packages you can, as large msi's that install a number of Apps (eg all of the web/image editing apps) take forever and quite often exhibit install errors
The amount of time I've spent on this is ridiculous, and we've had to package everything from Office to Autocad.
The amount of bandwidth I've chewed up is excessive, with package re-creation (download) of all the products probably about 100GB - however the ability to edit these packages with updates with the CCP is a good step forward.
Using the CCP through a proxy is horrendous, and complicated with the amount of exception through the servers you have to prvide (even then it rarely works).
The MSI packager still needs quite alot of work. As Petri states why he had to write a script like this when Adobe could have done the same thing is beyond him.
Adobe needs to trawl it's forum posts and take out the many false leads and dead ends provided by it's experts.
When I Think of anything else, or wite more scipts I'll let you all know.
    Cheers,

  • ?How to use the Adobe Cloud Packager to install Acrobat

I am trying to install Adobe Acrobat using the Adobe Cloud Packager. I can create the Package but the installation fails.

    Hi LizAuchincloss,
Please install Acrobat from the Exception folder using exception deployer command line:
The following command is used to deploy Acrobat for Windows. (You will recollect that Acrobat for Windows should be deployed before deploying the main package.) The --mode=pre option specifies that Exceptions Deployer Application is run before deploying the main package. The installLanguage is specified as en_US (US English)—this option is also mandatory while deploying Acrobat for Windows.
    ExceptionDeployer --workflow=install --mode=pre --installLangauge=en_US
Please refer the mentioned kb: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/using-exceptions-deployer.html .

  • Creating an automated silent install of Acrobat using InstallShield Tuner - Part 1

For anyone who has tried to use the InstallShield Tuner application you'll know how buggy the program is and be aware of the lack of support from Adobe. After 4 months working on and off I managed to get a (mostly) working silent install. I thought I would share my findings with everyone so as to help prevent a few headaches.
Note I am based in England and some of my comments may not apply to US customers.
    ================================
Acrobat 6.0.1 Admin Install Point Creation & Maintenance
    Creating the Install Point
    1. Copy files to the network share that will be your Admin Install Point.
For Acrobat Professional these files are on the Acrobat CD
For Acrobat Reader you will need to download the latest version from www.adobe.com. Adobe is using a new compression package called Netopsystems FEAD Optimizer to deliver its Acrobat Reader application. To extract the files double click the downloaded .exe file and wait until the actual Reader installation begins. The uncompressed files are temporarily stored in %system root%\Cache\Adobe Reader 6.x.x\ENUBIG. Copy these files to the network share.
Once the installation files are copied to the network share select them, right click, choose properties, switch off read-only attribute for all files (inc sub folders).
    2. Install the InstallShield Tuner 6.0.1 from Adobe Acrobat
    (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/deployment.html)
    3. Install the software that you intend to create a .MST file for (Acrobat Reader or Pro) and update it to the same version number as the Tuner (6.0.1 at the time of writing). The latest Acrobat can be downloaded from Adobe as can patches for Acrobat Professional.
Note: After further investigation his step may not be necessary.
    4. Due to a bug in the InstallShield Tuner the PCs language and regional settings must all be set to English US. (START Menu Settings Control Panel Regional and Language Options). Set everything to English US.
    5. Run InstallShield Tuner 6.0.1 for Adobe Acrobat and when prompted choose Rdr60ENU.itw (for Acrobat Reader) or AcroPro.itw (for Acrobat Writer Pro). These files can be found in the location you specified in step 1.
    Acrobat Reader Configurataion
    1. When prompted choose Create a New Transform
    2. Select Adobe Reader 6.0.1.msi as the base .MSI file
    3. Give the .MST file a name
    4. Click Create (this may take a minute to process)
    5. Configure your install options
    6. File - Save
    Acrobat Writer Pro Configuration
    1. When prompted choose Create a New Transform
    2. Select AcroPro.msi as the base .MSI file
    3. Give the .MST file a name
    4. Click Create (this may take a minute to process)
NOTE: Do not click on the Organisation Product Properties field. If you do the installer will return a transform error when you try to deploy Acrobat. Instead enter these details in the Abcpy.ini file and via the command line. (See step 5)
    5. Amend the Abcpy.ini file as below:
ISX_SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx (where xxxx is your serial number)
USERNAME=xxxxxxxxxx (where xxxx is the users name)
Company name should be entered from the command line (See Installing Acrobat Writer section below)
    6. Features
Configure which features are to be installed
    7. Preferences
    Configure your install options
    8. File - Save

  • Using SMS to install Acrobat 7 Standard and 7.0.5 - 7.0.8 patches

I am having problems with a package I created to install Acrobat 7 Standard and all it's updates. I this package I have created many programs. The first four programs are used to uninstall the previous version - 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.0.3 and 6.0.4. I used the command lines I got from the PDF document: "Install and remove Acrobat products using the command line (6.x on Windows)". All four programs went through successfully.
The next program in this package is the one that installs Acrobat 7 Standard. I used InstallShield Tuner 7.0 to customize the Acrobat settings when installed. I used the command line for this program that was listed the PDF: "User Document: Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for Microsoft Systems Management Server". This program installed without a problem.
The problem comes when the next program attempts to start. This is the program that installs the 7.0.5 update patch for Acrobat 7.0.0. At this point, this is where the package bombs. I have used the command lines provided in the PDF document: "Install and remove Acrobat products using the command line (7.0 on Windows)". I extracted the files from the .exe file of the patch and copied them to the source directory with all the other installation files for Acrobat 7 Standard.
Not sure what to do at this point. Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me into the right direction!

    Glenn,
I do not use any of the Acrobat instructions on deleting previous versions. I wrote a inf file from within MS Installer that removes all the Registry settings that the original installation of Acrobat 5 and 6 create. I also remove any files that remain on the PC. One reboot is needed and then a manual removal of the one or two files that stay in the ActiveX directory and the main Acrobat directory (used by windows until a reboot is performed). I then was successful in creating a package that delivers Acrobat 7 Pro with the updates to 7.05 and 7.08 by chaining them from within the setup ini file. I am now trying the same thing with Acrobat 7 standard but am having several separate issues.
Good luck because I hope one day Adobe/Acrobat are replaced with another OEM that listens to it customers and will not have as big of Chat room as they have with so many open issues and continuous problems with ever release.

    Try "Pacifist"!
Pacifist is an application for Mac OS X that opens up .pkg installer packages, .dmg disk images, .zip, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .pax, and .xar archives, and more, and lets you install individual files out of them. I'm installing Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows on a virtual machine on my Mac (running Parallels).  I successfully installed the same program using the same discs on the same Mac previously, but that virtual machine became corrupt and can no longer be launched.  For this re-installation, the installation sequence is asking what version I upgraded from - but as this is not an upgrade, I get stuck at that step and am unable to complete the installation.  What should my next step be?

    Hi Akselowner,
This error usually comes up if the serial number you are using is an Upgrade serial number.
In such a case the installer will prompt to enter the previous qualifying version serial number.
Please send me a private message with the serial number and I will validate and confirm that for you.
If you do not have the previous qualifying version serial number then the current serial number needs to be unlocked.
