Installing an old version of Flash on a Macbook Air
Hi, I have an old 10.6GHz Macbook Air which I need to install Adobe Flash onto. The newest version requires a 10.83GHz processor or faster. Is it possible to download an older version of Flash that will be compatible with my slower processor?
Thanks
Hello,
I'm thinking you have a few typos. Do you mean 1.6GHz and 1.83GHz, instead of 10.6GHz and 10.83GHz? Either way, the latest version of Flash Player will work fine on 1.6GHz. The tech specs list the specs for optimal performance, but if your system is a bit lower than what's listed, it should still work fine.

How can I download an old version of Flash?
The newest version of Flash broke my billing system back
office. The developers of this billing system are based overseas
and are extremely unreliable so I cannot depend on them to fix this
in a timely manner. It could be 2 days or 2 months. I just don't
know.
In other words, the newest version of flash broke the program
I need to do my job. I need to rollback to a previous version as
soon as possible.
I found a file on this forum called "fp9_archive.zip" which
contains old versions of flash. However, everytime I try to install
any version besides 9r124. I get this error:
"MessageBox: 12582960,"The version of Adobe® Flash®
Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most
current version.
Please visit
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
to obtain the latest, most secure version."
Please help me! I am not a developer or an IT guy. I am just
an accountant who foolishly clicked "update flash" when I was
spammed to update it. Now I am banging my head against the wall
because there are no clear and concise directions on how to roll it
back.Jason,
I am no expert but I was looking to solve a problem I have
and I ran accross information that may help you.
How to get previous versions of Flash Player (Note: Adobe
supports and recommends the latest Flash Player.)
If you are a Flash developer and require a previous version
of Flash Player for testing detection schemes, refer to "Archived
Flash Players available for testing purposes" (
TechNote
tn_14266).
Adobe has made these archived players available for download
at the request of the Flash developer community. Adobe Technical
Support does not provide support for the installation or use of
these old players. These are not intended for general use.
The following may help you solve your problem.
Error while installing older version: The version of Adobe Flash
Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most
current version
If you previously installed a later version of Flash Player
for Internet Explorer, you may be prevented from installing an
earlier version. For example, if you installed Flash Player
9,0,115,0, and attempted to install version 9,0,47,0 the
installation would fail. In this case follow the instructions in
"Safe versions security restrictions when installing Flash Player"
TechNote
kb402435).
Here is more information I found about unistalling that may help
you.
But I would try TechNote kb402435 above first because it
looks like it is directly related to your problem.
Uninstall all previous versions.
Before you install Flash Player for any Windows browser,
uninstall all previous versions. For instructions on removing the
player, please see "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in
and ActiveX control" (
TechNote
14157).
Note: All applications must be closed before you run the
Flash Player uninstaller. Quit all running applications, including
all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, and all Instant
Messenger clients. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make
certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player are
still in memory.
Good luck.

Hi there, Firefox not accepting latest version of Flash Player, or older versions that would allow me to open youtube and is continuouing to block it. any suggestions?
'''''"... Firefox not accepting latest version of Flash Player ..."'''''
Firefox shouldn't keep you from installing Flash; Firefox needs to be closed before attempting to install Flash - Adobe rules for installing Flash.
Also, it seems that you have a real old version of Flash installed.
'''Shockwave Flash 9.0 r45'''
Two versions of Flash Plugins installed may confuse Firefox as to which version to use.
You should download and run the Adobe Flash uninstaller program before attempting to install Flash.

I've "successfully" installed the latest version of Flash Player, as recommended by Firefox. How do I find where it "lives" so that I'm certain it's in there. Also, do I put the App icon that appears on my desktop, in the trash now? I am on a Mac and I am not technically inclined.
Thank you!Your list of plugins shows that you have installed Flash 10.2 r152 which is the current release version.
You can also confirm that Flash is installed by visiting this link - http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about -

Old version of Flash in Chrome on Mac
I'm using a Macintosh running Mavericks (10.9.5), Chrome 38.0.2125.122, and according to adobe.com, I have Flash version 15,0,0,223 in Chrome and should have version 15.0.0.242. It sounds like my system is quite a bit behind on Flash versions. I just got back from a cruise where I had very limited internet connectivity -- don't know if that contributed to the problem. I don't remember ever installing any special version of Flash, and don't see any Flash related extensions.
I tried trashing the google chrome.app from the Macintosh, emptied the trash, and reinstalled google chrome from a download. I see exactly the same thing - same bookmarks, same extensions and -- most importantly, adobe.com still says Flash reader is at version 15.0.0.223; any idea of what's going on?

What does "You can't open the application "Setup QuarkXPress6.1" because power PC applications are no longer supported" mean? I am trying to install an old version of Quark on my 2010 Macbook pro.

As has been mentioned, the software in Mac OS X that supported the running of PPC applications rather than current Intel applications on Intel computers such as your MBP was last seen in Snow Leopard. However, since I believe your MBP originally came with Snow Leopard, you may be able to boot from the DVD's that came with the computer and install it on an external HD and try to install Quark on that.
I think a better solution would be to buy Snow Leopard Server from Apple by phone (800-692-7753 and be specific about wanting part # MC588Z/A), installing it as a virtual machine in software like VMware Fusion, and then installing Quark 6 in that. You'll still need a license number to authorize the Quark installation. -
Why can't I install the newer version of Flash when I already have the older one?
My virus software is turned off. I have Flash currently on my computer. In the troubleshooting page I can see the clouds in the picture so I know my current flash is working. I went into the internet settings for add-ons and the flash is currently enabled. Why can't I install the newer version of Flash? I tried the run and save option and it still didn't work. I can see the installer in my downloads folder. But, all I get is a black blank box that does nothing. What else can I try to get the installer to actually install the updated version of flash?
Try the offline installer(s)
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Flash Player for Mac OS X
