Installing Apache upgrade

I have Mac OS 10.4.11 on a G4 1.4Ghz
I would like to upgrade Apache 1.3.x to Apache 2.0.6s.
how would I go about doing this?
thanks in advance

thanks for your response Camelot. I am comfortable with using the command line. I primarily want to use the server locally to build sites and debug them before uploading them to the server. I specifically want to start using PHP files and there has been a problem with Apache 1.3 and PHP. A while back when I checked the php version I got a readout for PHP 5 but the Apache 1.3 httpd, config lists only php4 mods. I have not yet been able to get the httpd.config file set up so that php5 (or any PHP!) is working
It did work before, about six months ago, but now it is not.
I will study the link you provided and see what I can do.
thanks,
vilppu

  • After Clean Instal Tiger, upgrading to 10.4.7. many errors appeared

I wiped my boot drive, installed tiger, upgraded combo 10.4.7. Created anount account user. Things were spiffy for a moment until I mounted my firewire drives and some dmg file. BLAM! CRASH! MAYDAY MAYDAY! RUN FOR COVER into the apple forum! I've search forums for several problems and was unable to find solution but did on my own.
    Errors:
Media ejectables: DMG, firewire drives, cd, dvd would not appear (but would on other users) I tried permission fix, disconnecting, whatever.
Internal audio wasn't working. Volume control was dissabled, and volume icon dissappeared from menubar after clicking it.
Worse of all: My icons on my sidebar were missing, desktop icons were randomly missing. I did comand J on finder and select show icon and show preview. That worked until log out, log in. Icons were switched around to the wrong ones, I thought I was on mars.
What else, well didn't get around much since I tried to deal with one problem at a time - it became overwhelming.
Before erasing the drive and reinstalling for another try, I decided to trash all my contents in my prefs folder in my home/personal directory (didn't empty trash). Logged out and back in. I'm back in business!
Those of you may want to try that and may have to re-adjust all your settings, serials, etc. Or you could drag some prefs back to folder to to find culprit or just the ones you really need. When happy with everything... Take out the garbage!
Hope it works for you as well.

It's explained as is. Delete some preference files.

Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X".
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but get the same error message.

Which version of OS X do you have? It's not clear from your post whether "installed an upgrade" means you just installed PSE 13 as an upgrade or you installed an update to PSE 13, like ACR 9 or 13.1. Please clarify.

Hi,  I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5.  It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera.  I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions to download.  8.6 only works with Mac OS 10.7-10.9, according to the page.  I'm running Yosemite, Mac 10.10.  Please can you tell me my options?  Lightroom 4 worked beautifully with my older cameras' raw files so I would like to continue using the application.  What should I do?  How soon will Lightroom 5 be able to deal with raw files from a D750.  Many thanks, Adam.

Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.

  • Why is it taking so long to install lion upgrade

why is it taking so long to install lion upgrade? It is about 20 minutes now and still saying wait a few minutes

Because the file is over 5 GBs. If your internet service is slow then it can take a long time - several hours.

  • Itunes was working fine. Tries to install latest upgrade and get error message about an invalid character in the path "Program Files (x86)". PC, Win7, nothing else appears to be having same issue.

    Thanks b noir,
I tried this solution without success. After FixIt ran and didn't find a problem, either in looking for issues with "software upgrade" or "iTunes" it kindly offered to help me uninstall iTunes. I had thought of this as a possibilty but it seems to me that if you do that you lose a lot of "non-native-to-Apple" information you might have entered. I did this once and recovery was painfull. Is there a way to uninstall iTunes without losing all of that sort of thing? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Do I need to install CS4 full version before installing CS5 upgrade?

New hard drive in iMac. I have a full version of CS4 design premium and an upgrade version of CS5. Do I have to install both? Or can I just install CS5 upgrade and somehow use my CS4 full serial number to validate the CS5?

You have the right idea.  You do not have to install CS4.  At some point during installation of CS5 you will be required to enter the serial number for CS4 in order to confirm it as a valid upgrade installation

  • Installing Apache 2.4.3 on OSX 10.6.8

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Apache web server on Mac OSX 10.6.8. On my first attempt with ./configure, I was informed that my apr version was too old. So I downloaded apr and apr-util, and as instructed by the Apache INSTALL doc, I upacked those files and moved their directories to httpd-2.4.3/srclib/apr and httpd-2.4.3/srclib/apr-util:
    ~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3/srclib$ ls MakefileMakefile.in     apr          apr-util
Then the Apache INSTALL doc said to run configure like this:
    ~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3 $ ./configure --with-included-apr
Then I got a new error:
configure: error: pcre-config for libpcre not found. PCRE is required and available from http://pcre.org/
So I looked at the Apache installation docs here:
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/install.html
    which say:
    REQUIREMENTS
    Perl-Compatible Regular Expressions Library (PCRE)
This library is required but not longer bundled with httpd. Download the source code from http://www.pcre.org, or install a Port or Package. If your build system can't find the pcre-config script installed by the PCRE build, point to it using the --with-pcre parameter. On some platforms, you may have to install the corresponding -dev package to allow httpd to build against your installed copy of PCRE.
So I downloaded pcre and installed pcre with ./configure, make, make install, which seemed to install pcre correctly. But when I tried to run ./configure for Apache, Apache still couldn't find pcre. So next I tried:
    ~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3$ ./configure --with-included-apr --with-pcre=../pcre-8.32/pcre-config
and this time ./configure seemed to end normally.
    On to make:
    ~/Downloads/httpd-2.4.3$  make
But make ends with pcre errors:

Any ideas what went wrong or what I should try next? The Apache install web page says:
On some platforms, you may have to install the corresponding -dev package to allow httpd to build against your installed copy of PCRE.
But I can't find any information on where "the corresponding -dev package" can be downloaded.
    Thanks.

Now I can't get a cgi script to execute.  Apache is returning the text of the script.  I've tried to follow exactly what the Apache CGI tutorial says here:
    http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/howto/cgi.html#configuring
I also followed the directions in the perl cgi script, printenv, that was included with Apache, and Apache returns the text, rather than executing the script.  Here is what the cgi-bin directory looks like:
    /usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin$ ls -al
    total 24

    -rw-r--r--@  1 7stud  staff  1127 Sep  6  2008 test-cgi
Here's what the printenv script looks like:
    /usr/local/apache2/cgi-bin$ cat printenv
    #!/usr/bin/env perl
    # To permit this cgi, replace # on the first line above with the
    # appropriate #!/path/to/perl shebang, and set this script executable
    # with chmod 755.
    # Note that it is subject to cross site scripting attacks on MS IE

    # it in a live server environment, it is provided only for testing.

  • Tried to upgrade from firefox 3.6.2 to 3.6.3, error message says another instance of firefox is running, then 3.6.2 opens. This occurs when i start firefox after restarting the computer, or when i try to install the upgrade

Whenever i try to open firefox, i get a message that firefox cannot install the upgrade because another instance of firefox is running. Then firefox 3.6.2 will start. running windows 7 64 bit. This will occur every time i try to open firefox, after rebooting or any time i close it and reopen firefox.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I Ok'd the upgrade from 3.6.2 to 3.6.3

Do a clean (re)install and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

  • How do you RE-INSTALL Leopard 10.5 over already installed LEOPARD upgraded?

I have an iMac computer that originally had Tiger installed. I did all the updates to Tiger and was ready for Leopard. I used "Super Duper" and cloned my hardrive before I installed the new Leopard (10.5 dvd) using th UPGRADE option. After installing Leopard (UPGRADE) and upgrading to 10.5.2 I felt I might get better results with either a "CLEAN INSTALL" or an "INSTALL & ARCHIVE." So, I put the LEOPARD 10.5 DVD back in my Mac, thinking the INSTALLER CHOICES of UPGRADE, ARCHIVE & INSTALL or CLEAN INSTALL would show up again and I could just ERASE this version of Leopard and do the CLEAN INSTALL or ARCHIVE & INSTALL and start over! Well when i put the DVD in the BIG X with the install and restart but not the INSTALL CHOICES? i tried 'OPTION" key hod down and "C" key hold down. what do I do? Thanks in advance for your support and help

really?? I would find that very strange. Archive and install should definitely be possible anyway. At the screen where one sees the choice of a disk to install to, there should be an "Options" button. Clicking on it should bring up a screen with a choice of upgrade and install (I believe that's the default), archive and install, and erase and install. Choosing archive and install should allow one to proceed.

Sounds like you downloaded the OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Update or Combo Update. Neither will work on a version of OS X prior to OS X Mavericks. Those are only used to update an existing install of OS X Mavericks. The Combo will update any version from 10.9.0 thru 10.9.4. The Update will only update version 10.9.4.
You need the full installer of OS X Mavericks from the App Store. However, the App Store no longer offers OS X Mavericks. Yosemite is the new FREE OS X.

Those files were created in a later version of InDesign. Have the person that created them save them back via IDML or you’ll need to upgrade.
