Installing Aperture 3 on 2 sites?

I bought a Macbook Pro today. I also have an iMac, on which I have Aperture 3. I have read several times that it is possible to have it downloaded on a desktop and a laptop, but I cannot find how to do this. I have attempted to download a trial version, and the input the licence key, but this does not work. I still wish to use my iMac as a separate computer, I don't really mind about library sharing, I'm really just interested in getting Aperture working on both computers, without having to pay twice! Advice would be extremely helpful.

I do this without any issues. Just install the software on both computers. When you are prompted for a license key, enter the SAME license key on both computers.
As long as one computer is an Apple laptop and one computer is an Apple desktop, you are in compliance with the license agreement (which says you can install a copy on two computers as long as long as (a) they are both owned and used by you and (b) one is a laptop and the other is a desktop and (c) you will not be attempting to run both copies at the same time.

  • Anyone tried to install Aperture on older G5/G4?

Has anyone tried to install Aperture on an older PowerMac G5 or PowerMac G4 that **has been upgraded** to a compliant graphics card? If anyone has had success in this regard and has done so on a PowerMac G4, could you also indicate whether or not you're using a processor upgrade?
I know the compatibility checker indicates such installations won't work, but it's important someone actually tries it for real -- maybe someone who has Aperture on a supported machine but also an unsupported one sitting around.

How do you know? And, if you don't own or have access to unsupported hardware or know of a case where someone has failed or succeeded in installing the actual application on unsupported hardware, I have to wonder why you submitted this "answer"; it's not helpful.
Since I made the original post I found, thanks to MacSurfer, a blog in which the author of the blog reported he had succeeded in installing the application on a PowerMac G4 that did not have Core Image support -- a 2003 G4 with "1.4GHz dual processors" (so I assume the 1.42GHz dual Firewire 800 model), and a boring old Radeon 9000 video card. The only requirements he officially met were the 1GB of RAM and 5GB of hard drive space. If this is a) true and b) typical, it means that not only is the application not blocked against certain processors or systems (not too surprising), it is also not blocked against non-Core Image graphics cards (a huge surprise to me).

I'd like to know if this is strictly an accident (or a hack) or if it is indeed widespread. As someone with a 1.2GHz G4 who is considering putting in a 256MB VRAM Radeon 9600, chances are I could run this application quite comfortably if this report is accurate and did not involve a hack.

  • Can I install Aperture 3 on iMac with no disc drive

Is it possible to install Aperture 3 on iMac using product serial number (my PC has no disc drive)?

There is no longer a way to download a full version of Aperture from Apple's sites, other than the most recent version from the App Store. If you still have the installer disks, try to borrow an external DVD reader or ask a family member/fried with a computer that still has a DVD drive to create a disk image from the DVD. Then copy the Disk Image to a thumbs drive. If a Mac with a DVD drive is available on your local network, you could try DVD sharing.

  • How do I install Aperture 2.1 upgrade when I have 2.0 academic?

How do I install Aperture 2.1 upgrade when I have 2.0 academic? I installed the disk and now it is just sitting on my desktop.  I don't think it actually installed?

Is the upgrade Academic also? You can't upgrade an Academic version to a regular version.

  • I bought Aperture and have it installed on my Macbook. I now also have a Macbook AIR, which I use regularly. Can I also install Aperture on my MacBook AIR, too, without paying for it again?

Can Aperture be installed on my 2 Macs ( Pro and AIR) ?

hi Leonie, I've downloaded it from AppStore, unfortunately.
If it is the Mac App Store, then Carolyn Samit's solution is perfect. Sign into the App Store on your MacBook Air with the original AppleID you used and install Aperture from the Purchased page.
But If you bought a serial number and downloaded from the Apple Store, then you cannot download an installer from Apple's sites. In that case your best bet would be to update your current version to Aperture 3.5.1 if you are still using an older version.  Updating to 3.5.1 will change your license to a Mac AppStore license, and you can download from the AppStore on your other Mac.
Which Aperture version do you have installed? Are you already using Aperture 3.5.1 on MacOS X 10.9.3?

  • How can I install Aperture on my new Macbook Pro. I am up to date with my Mac Pro, I have the Aperture 1 and installation disks but cant remember how I got to 3. Can anyone help?  Many thanks regards Alf

I have an up to date version of Aperture on my Mac Pro, and I would like to install it on my new Mac book Pro. I have the original installation disks for Aperture 1 and 2. I cant remember how I got to Aperture 3, I think it was via a web download but not sure. I have checked my purchases in the App Store but there is no indication of me buying an upgrade to Aperture 3.
Ive tried to download it from the App Store but it wants me to pay again.
Can anyone help on how to install Aperture 3 on my new Macbook .
    Many thanks regards  Alf

Then you can download the Trial version of Aperture 3 and unlock it with your serial numbers - you will need all three for all three versions: A current link to the Trial version is in this support document, also instructions on how to reinstall on different systems:
Aperture 3.4: May quit unexpectedly on launch after updating

BTW: Your Aperture 3 serial number will be displayed in the "About" panel - the panel you see, when you use the command "About Aperture" from the Aperture menu in the main menu bar.

  • I cannot install itunes from the apple site .. it keeps saying the software is corrupted and cannot install correctly.. help!!!

I have tried to install the software from several sites including the apple site and they all say that the software is corrupted and did not install correctly to delete and reinstall. this seems unlikely as it has been weeks since I have been retrying the sites with the same results...is there an apple download that will check my pc for any errors that may be keeping the itunes from installing.. or is there anything else i can do to fix the issue.. its unlikely that itunes could stay corrupted for so ling without noticing it and fixing the issue..thank you...

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

hello everyone!  i have a new macbook pro and i want to download aperture.  my app store says it is already installed (on my old macbook pro).  how do i install aperture from the app store in this instance please?

Are yoy sure that Apeture is not in the Applications folder of the new system? If it is move it to the trash and the App Store will let you download Aperture from it.
You will need to make sure you use the same Apple ID you used to purchase it in the past.

  • I have lost my Aperture 2 serial number how do I get a new one so that I can install Aperture 3 upgrade

I have Aperture 2, changed my imac, used the backup system and found that I cannot find my serial number for Aperture 2. I have Aperture 3 upgrade, so can someone please advise how I get my serial number for Aperture 2 please. Hence I can not install Aperture 2, and therefore same problem not being able to install upgrade. Assistance would be much appreciated.

I was having the same problem, unable to find my trash can. I did everythnig suggested in this post to no avail. Then I discovered if you hover to the far right of RECENT you will see either "Show" or "Hide"  "Show" reveals the following, including the trash. I'm sheepish that the solution was so easy but delighted to report that after viewing AND emptying my trash, I gained 55 GB on my HD.

  • I just bought a new iMac and only have the aperture cd, how do i install aperture 3 back to my new iMac

i just bought my new imac but i only have the aperture 3 cd and do not have a drive how do i install aperture 3 or where do i download from and then just insert the cd key.

You either burn a disk image of your CD (using Disk Utility) on a mac that still has a drive and transfer the disk image on a thumbs drive or network, or download the Aperture 3 Trial Installer.
Download it here Aperture 3.1 Trial
After running the Trial installer go immediately to Software update in the -menu, and only after updating to the most recent version launch Aperture and enter your registration code to unlock the Trial.  Then launch it by double clicking your Aperture Library or clicking the Aperture icon.

  • Can I install Aperture on an Iomega hard drive attached to my IMac and use it from there with iPhoto pix on the IMaac

Can  I install Aperture on an external Ilmega hard drive attached to my IMac and run Aperture from there to use it with photos on my IMac iPhoto library?

It's usually best to have applications on the boot drive, so I'd turn your idea around: run Aperture from the internal disk and park iPhoto and maybe iTunes libraries on an external - which would free up space on the internal.

  • Unable to install Aperture 3 after upgrade to OS X 10.8

After upgrading to OS X 10.8, when I try to install Aperture, I keep getting this error message "To open Aperture, Installer must quit and reopen". I have the box version of Aperture 3, so it's version 3.0 and I will not be able to download the latest dmg off Mac App Store. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number from the boxed version:
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
To be able to run the installer in Mountain Lion you will have to change the System Preferences "Security & Privacy" temporarily to allow "Applications downloaded from anywhere"

  • New Macbook Pro with Lion, installed Aperture - all photos disappear

    Just bought a MacBook Pro:
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1
My old computer crashed so I transfered a folder full of photos to my computer inside of a Documents file.  Some of these photos came from my previous version of iPhoto and some of the were not imported into any program at all.  I want to clean and organize my photos before importing them into any program. I do not wish to create extra clutter on my computer by importing them at this time, being that I have a very clean machine at this time.
So, I got Aperture, newest version (software updated as of this morning) and was planning to import my photos once I organized all of them.
However, now that I've installed Aperture, the folder of my pictures that is located in My Documents is now reading that there are (0) photos, so I can't even organize them.  Also, if I run Aperture and try to import a photo, it doesn't recognize that any photos exist.
Now, if I look up All My Files in the Finder window, it shows that I do infact have over 9k Images, most of these being my photos that are not showing up in their file folder.  Some of these however are not conventional photos but are PDFs that I do not wish to hang out in any photo organizing/editing program.
So, why can't I see my photos so I can organize them via my Finder folder in My Documents when I recovered them from my old computer?
They were never imported into my new computer's iPhoto, nor were they ever imported into my new computer's Aperture.  But I can all of them in the All My Files?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to find my photos, they were strangly refiled in a different file folder.
Seems like Aperture is still having troubles populating the images, but I find if I open and close import, or close and repoen Aperture, then the photos will populate.
    Buggy though for sure.

  • How to install Aperture on Mac OS 10.6.8?

how to install Aperture on Mac OS 10.6.8?

But the current AppStore version needs MacOS 10.7.5 or 10.8.2; there is no way to install it on Snow Leopard. The Trial version can be installed, but you need to purchase a serial number, and that you will find only with the retail version in the box.
