Installing Aperture on two computers

I'm seriously thinking about upgrading from iPhoto 6 to Aperture but is it possible to install one Aperture licence on two computers, a G5 and a laptop? I'm not going to use them at the same time.
I hate Macromedia because of this, you cannot install Studio 8 on two computers, even if you're the only person using both of them. Only a fool would shell out money to buy two licences for this. I seriously think software companies are cheating users on this - this should be allowed.

You could use a library mounted on a remote computer, that would be one way.
Another would be to use a program like Chronosync to synchronize changes between libraries on two different computers. Note that approach would only work if you always synchronize after making changes on only ONE computer. That is to say, if you do some changes on system A, and some changes on system B you would lose some of the changes when you synchronized because there is only one Aperture database within the library, and that holds the primary copy of all adjsutments made. There are also sidecar files, but if the database is present that would be trusted over the sidecar files.

  • I had installed Maverick on two computers.  The first one is a Mac Mini a new one and it gave me Keynote and Number for free.  The other computer is a iMac and if I want Keynote and Number I must pay 19,99$ each.  Why do I have to pay on the iMac?

I had installed Maverick on two computers.  The firs one is a new MacMini that my husband purchased last week.  When I had installed Maverick the applications Numbers and Keynote were free and installed on his computer.  When I do the same on my iMac, I had to pay 19,99$ for each applications.  We have two differents Apple ID.  Why I do pay for these applications when those were free for the iMac and in the add Apple say it's free?  Or, is somebody can tell me how to installed those for free.
    Thank you.

They are only free via the account orginally purchased or if they came pre installed on the computer. Depending on what you have purchased already us the one account for the app store - saves headace and hassel in the future thus not double buying software. Do you have iwork installed on your imac? meaning the iwork 09? if you do your should be able to to to the store and update it. Worked fine for me since i bought the DVD version of iwork 09 and Aperture 3. I did not want to have to rebuy them so the app store noticed i had them installed and changed the update via the app store.

  • Can I have the same product installed in my two computers (home and office)?

Can I have the same product installed in my two computers (home and office)?

Yes, as long as the two machines both meet the system requirements for whichever software this concerns.

  • Download software once and then install it on two computers?

I just registered for a Creative Cloud membership. I want to install software on two computers. The internet connection on one  location is extremely slow. Could I download everything on one computer and then install it on both from a portable medium.
    Thanks,

    Thanks, I will try that.
I did try using the original downloaded files that were downloaden with the Application Manager. But when I tried to install it on the other machine, I got the message that the software was counterfeit.

  • If I upgrade Cs5 to CS6 can I install it on two computers like my CS5 is?

I purchased CS5 before CS6 came out and the version I have (suite? individual?  I can't tell which it is from the website or from the box my CD came in) let me install it on two computers.  I would like to upgrade to CS6 but would like to be able to upgrade both versions.  I took online courses for CS5 and there are now courses for CS6 available.  I can't find my answer anywhere after searching for a couple of hours.  I can purchase the upgrade but there is nothing to say if I can upgrade both the computers.  Does the upgrade allow for upgrading two computers?

    Hi Margaret,
According to EULA you can install it on 2 machines, provided you are not using them simultaneously.
    Thanks

  • I know you can install CC on two computers...

I know you can install CC on two computers but one of them died and I want to install CC on the new computer. I've read that this works but for me it hasn't – all the apps have "try" next to them instead of "install". Help!

  • Installing app on two computers?

A mystery.  I bought Logic Pro from the Apple Store.  I did one click and it immediately started to download and install on the computer I was using.  I want to also install it on my laptop, which I think is legit if I've read the licensing agreement right.
I'm not sure how to do this.  When I go to the Apple Store, my account, I can't see the purchase (I do see a previous purchase of Snow Leopard there).  When I go to my iTunes account (which has the same name and password as my Apple Store account) I can see the purchase of Logic Pro THERE!
And I'm confused.  I could have sworn I bought it from the Apple Store.  iTunes doesn't sell this app as far as I know.  Why does the purchase show up in my iTunes account, and NOT in my Apple account (though they may be one and the same thing as far as I know - except the purchase history is different).
    What might be happening here?
And what is the standard procedure for installing the same app on two computers?
    All ears,
    Ben

I think I'm getting it.  I was trying to re-download it from the purchase history page.
Which now leads me to another issue.
I was on the road at a remote location in the North Atlantic last fall.  There was no way to get Logic 9 (I've had all the other versions up to 9), and I needed it for the job (no internet, very slow mail).  I 'borrowed' the Logic 9 disks from the people I was working with - they had a dozen licenses and hadn't used a few.  I installed it, finished the job.
I bought Logic 9 when I got home ... and it was downloaded and installed on my tower.
But I still have someone else's Logic 9 on my laptop, which I want to replace.  I've never had to un-install Logic before, so I'm wondering how to un-install it?  When I try a download from the Apple Store it tells me the Logic wasn't purchased from the store and do I want to purchase ANOTHER version.  Which I don't.  I want to download the version I just purchased.  So I'm assuming if I can un-install the current borrowed Logic, I'll be able to bypass this pop-up window and do as you suggest.  All the while hoping there is a record of my previous purchase (which I don't see in my purchase history at the Apple Store, but DO SEE in my purchase history at the iTunes store).
    Whew...
And your help is most appreciated roaminggnome...

  • Installing Leopard on two computers

Is it possible to download a single-user disc on two computers? Will they both work well?
    Thanks.

The Apple Family Pack specifically allow use by a student at campus.
"B. Family Pack. If you have purchased a Mac OS X Family Pack, this License allows you to install and use one (1) copy of the Apple Software on up to a maximum of five (5)
Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that same household. By "household"
we mean a person or persons who share the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home or condominium, but shall also extend to student members who
are primary residents of that household but residing at a separate on-campus location."

  • Can I use the install disk on two computers?

I haven't actually installed it on my computer yet, I just allowed whatever was going to install itself to come up. If I have another computer, can I use the install disk to put OSX on there or not? If so, can I still use it in case I need a backup load of my computer?

Only if you get a family pack license newer than the installer disk which came with the computer(s) can you install it on multiple computers. Check your license agreement.
You can't use the disks which came with another computer on a second computer. These articles explain more along those lines:

  • Adobe says I activated on more than two systems, but only installed CC on two computers?

I have CC on my home desktop computer and my school laptop. When I log on either of them, when I am signing in I am told that I need to deactivate from my first two systems in order to use it on the one I am currently using. However, I have only installed CC on two systems. I am worried my account will be suspended for not following the licensing agreement if this continues.

    Hi Amandurinorange,
    Welcome to Adobe Forum,
Have you reinstalled it on any of your machine? The message that you are getting appears only when you are activating it for the third time.
Either you can deactivate CC from any one of the computer by just launching any CC product, click on Help tab & sign out.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html#de activate-problem
Now you can log out & log back in of the CC desktop app
The error of deactivating it from previous machine should not appear.
Please let us know if it worked.

  • Using one copy of Aperture on two computers or more

I have a registered copy of Aperture 1.5.6 and have downloaded the trial version of Aperture 2.
I'm thinking of getting a MacBool Pro. My question:
Will I be able to use my 1.5.6 disc on the MacBook Pro or will the disc only work on one computer. If I want to use Aperture 2 should I buy an actual disc to update on my current computer in the hope that I could also update to Aperture 2 on the MacBook Pro.
OR is there a way to transfer all my applications (including Apertuer 2) from my G5 to the MacBook Pro.
Hope you can make sense of this question! :o)

if it makes a difference what model of Apple computer you designate as your "desktop" computer when registering the product.
I don't think it makes any difference. That sentence about a desktop and a laptop is just a legal description. Technically you can use the same serial number of Aperture on as many computers as you like. I don't think Apple bothers much what you write in the registration form, as long as it receives no more than two registrations per serial number.

  • Is it possible to install photoshop on two computers in different countries in European Union?

Hi! I would like to know if it is possible to install the photoshop app on two desktop computers in different countries in European Union, since I spend my time travelling between 2 countries?? As I understand it, it is possible to download the app on two devices, but I couldn't see any information on wether these two devices must be in the same country. Thanks!!

Jim's IMAP suggestion is exactly what I would suggest. POP was fine when people generally had one computer to download their mail to; now that people have multiple computers, phones, and other email-capable devices, IMAP is really the way to go. Many mail providers - not just Gmail and MobileMe - offer IMAP as an alternative connection method to an email account, so you should see whether your current provider supports it.
Your solution of networking a .pst file, while it may have worked for you, sounds like a pretty risky kludge. I wouldn't like to try to recover the file if you get any kind of network error while you're writing to it, for example. Outlook for Mac 2011 will not use a single file (thank goodness!) but a folder/file structure, which allows easier integration with Spotlight and Time Machine, and less risk that a database error will render all your email unreadable (as could happen with Entourage).
There are a couple of good ways to transfer Outlook data to a Mac. One is to use Outlook2Mac, which runs on your PC and converts the data to standard mailboxes which Apple Mail can read. The other way is, in fact, to get an IMAP account (eg GMail) set up on both PC and Mac, transfer your local mailboxes to the IMAP server, and wait for them to sync across to the Mac. I've used both methods with success. If you have a lot of nested mailboxes, I'd recommend IMAP over O2M - the latter will rename all mailboxes and can be awkward to reassemble them on the other side. If you only have a few simple mail folders (no matter how much mail you have in them), it's fine.
With the IMAP method, I've noticed that GMail, for one, doesn't like certain mailbox names (names beginning with a number don't seem to work well, for example).

  • Can I instal CS6 to two computers?

And if so how do i go about doing this? Already have it installed to m y laptop but purchased a Mac desktop and need it on here for school.

Serial numbers are platform specific. You cannot install the product on a PC and a Mac, only 2 computers of the same type.
